Monotype Tapu Fair-Fair

Tapu
Fair-Fair

Hello, and welcome to Tapu Fair-Fair. This team was build with one thing in mind, minimize poor match up chances. Fairy has not had a major shine untill S/M and I feel people are underating how major fairy still is in current metagame.

Teambuilding process:
Tapu Bulu + Tapunium Z Koko + Diancie + Klefki + Azumarill + Tapu Fini;
As the name implied it held true to the number of Tapu's it held, everything is a nobrain must for every Fairy mono except the fini. Fini served as the main answere to SD Scizor and could taunt any passive pokemon like Celesteela. It just relied far too heavily on Koko's Z to put Venusaur in range and I quickly realised going broad with Mimikyu was infact the right option.
The Team:

@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 5 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
- Horn Leech

Tapu Bulu is a nail for so many mono teams it's honestly interesting. Tapu Bulu provides a fast wallbreaker only answered by the likes of flying types that are defensive stapled on the types they are placed on; Zapdos(Electric/Flying), Celesteela(Steel/Flying), Skarmory(Steel/Flying), Staraptor(Normal/Flying), Mandibuzz(Dark/Flying). Thanks to the item choce it provides the user with a 135 base Speed outspeeding revenge killer, this grants a check to Mega-Gallade, Mega-Lopunny, Mega-Manectric, you name it. This is the main attacker and everything else will be listed as support to it. Stone Edge hits Zapdos, Volcarona and Charizard-Y, everything else it could hit supper effectively it is objectively easier to toxic/sr chip and proceed to Edge after that has been done. Superpower hits worn down Ferrothorn, Bisharp and Stakataka. If you want Zen Headbutt, it's an option but all you hit is M-Venusaur/Kommo-o. While it might sound good to hit Venusaur, it doesn't do enough.

@ Choice Specs
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- U-turn

Tapu Koko is your way of getting past all the things I just mentioned and holds 1 major thing fairy is lacking soarly; Fire Damage. Ferrothorn and Scizor both cause major issues to all pokemon and having something that does the below listed calcs. Outside of the obvious it also answeres Celesteela, Toxapex, Crobat and much more. The ev spread might seem odd but there is logic behind it. With this investment you evade 2HKO from unboosted defensive M-Scizor and OHKO from +2 Mega-Scizor. But it also makes you U-turn on opposing Tapu Koko. Besides this... you don't miss out on anything either besides Crobat I guess?
252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Koko Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 208+ SpD Ferrothorn: 212-252 (60.2 - 71.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Koko Hidden Power Fire vs. 248 HP / 16 SpD Scizor-Mega: 312-368 (90.9 - 107.2%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela in Electric Terrain: 380-450 (95.4 - 113%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex in Electric Terrain: 300-354 (99 - 116.8%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Black Sludge recovery
84+ Atk Technician Scizor-Mega Bullet Punch vs. 40 HP / 0 Def Tapu Koko: 123-145 (42.2 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

@ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flash Cannon
- Toxic
- Spikes
- Defog

I have had many people wonder what exactly this set is ment to do and to put it blunkly, it deals with Tapu Bulu and does everything you did need a Steel type for on a Fairy mono. This is exactly why it is running Flash Cannon. Because of the set up mon in this team being already self-supported there was no reason to go for screens, optimizing my ability to run Spikes, a Porygon2 answere and a priority hazard remover. This last being rather important for any match you did play over 1500 on ladder or againt anyone who is willing to make a prediction.

@ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Earth Power
- Diamond Storm
- Stealth Rock

This is a Mega and it shows. Ground + Fairy coverage, acces to Rock to blast fire types like Charizard-Y and most importantly, it has Stealth Rocks. 110 Speed, 150 Offense and a type to account Fire/Poison attacks to some extend when not Mega evolved. I wish there was more to say but this pokemon showcases every form of versatility, offense and support you could requist out of an offensive rocker. Added bonus is that it rocks for free on Shuckle, Klefki, you name it.

@ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough

Unlike your typical Belly dancing Azumarill, this one wears a trendy Choice Band. With this item it can finish off worn opponents as well as Excadrill/Blacephalon or any water weak attacker for that matter. Choice Band Liquidation also doubles as an out to Defensive Scizor set up, Celesteela's pressence and Cradily. Knock Off is blatenly self support to remove Helmet/Leftovers from Skarmory, Celesteela, Staraptor and Cradily. Play Rough hits Dragon/Fight types, nothing special here. Superpower doesn't actually help you vs any pokemon besides Ferrothorn so I don't see a reason to drop any of the other 2 main damaging stabs for such minor coverage.

@ Ghostium Z
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak
- Play Rough
- Swords Dance

Mimikyu is your out to Mega-Scizor/Venusaur as after a SD you can OHKO them. Past these you can also blank check literally every pokemon that isn't Normal typed. Swords Dance isn't always easy to set up but if you do without busting the ability you are curring the game's time down heavily thanks to the pressence the Tapu's force on anything didn't take this hit. Use it wisely, as you only get 1 shot with this mon and the item.

How it functions vs any existing mono team:
For some reason people are running Magnezone instead of Excadrill on 1500 range on ladder; no lol. Scarf Excadrill + Ferrothorn, Heatran + Ferrothorn, Celesteela + Ferrothorn and Mega-Scizor are 3 things that show pressence vs Mono fairy and with Specs Hp fire from Koko you have a way of dealing with it all of these besides Heatran and that one you want to have gone before all else. It's not easy and requires heavy prediction as well as momentum enforcements on M-Scizor. Mikikyu is a free kill but you need that kill to count on Scizor and not on Ferro. Common structure is; Heatran, Mega-Scizor, SpD Celesteela, Skarmory, Ferrothorn, Excadrill

This isn't even a ''bad'' match up, just has a combo of 2 pivots, 1 all-out attacking lead and 1 defensive monstrosity.
Crobat pivots on Bulu for free, Toxapex only serves as an annoyance to Mimikyu, Nidoking is dumb as hell and Mega-Venusaur is every fairy mono's bane of existence. You need Nido to be gone for Koko to have fun but this fails if Venusaur already got to mega(something that always is the case as you can't offensively prevent that), Mimikyu needs Toxapex gone before you can break venusaur and Muk-A likes to damage trade so pick 1. It purely depends on how many turns the opponent misplays or gets right while accounting the fact they have the advantage... and it shows. Nido lead or Venulead generally show how the opponent goes to play as Venulead is the scariest while nidoking-Lead is asking to get dropped down.
Common team structure; Mega-Venusaur, Crobat, Toxapex, Nihilego, Nidoking, Muk-Alola

-Azumarill wants Staraptor gone; knock the leftovers/helmet, put up rocks, liquidate and win with azu.
-Tapu Bulu wants Staraptor gone; keep pressence with Diancie/Klefki and punish with a Stone edge. Preferably knock the lefties or toxic it; -1 252 Atk Tapu Bulu Stone Edge vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Staraptor: 132-156 (35.5 - 42%) -- 76.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
Tapu Bulu/Azu legit clean everything in that so go for it. I did say watch out for Porygon-Z with Z-Conversion but Mimikyu handles that(and does nothing if the mono doesn't run Porygon-Z...) Common Normal structure; Chansey, Porygon2, Mega-Loppuny, Normalium-Z Porygon-Z/Diggersby, Staraptor, Ditto

Is it Scarf Victino yes/no, is it Scarf Jirachi yes/no, is it Z-Celebrate Jirachi yes/no. if any of these are yes the game isn't an easy walk in the park. Scarf Victini is like Scarf greninja, it gambels with 50/50's for V-create and Bolt-Strike, Diancie does well but isn't made to deal with it. Jirachi I don't have words for, it's a pain, end of discussion. You have Mimikyu with Shadow Sneak, Aqua Jet from Azumarill and a healthy Tapu Koko but you need the mons for other psychic types like Mew, Deoxys-Speed and Sash-Alakazam. Common structure on their side is Mew, Deoxys-Speed, latios, Victini, Jirachi(a must on all psychic mono's) and lastly Mega Gallade.

Koko 5-0's just remove rain or swamp. This can be done in multiple way.
Bulu 5-0's just remove Gyarados. This can be done with Koko, Mimikyu, spamming more Bulu etc.
if it is infact Sap Sipper Azumarill, Koko actually takes a +6 Aqua Jet really well so use that instead of scarf Bulu and you are fine.
I want to say a common draft but of all the mono's this one is by far the most wide in team options;
Mega-Swampert is always there, greninja is common and imo needed, toxapex is common but for this match up not as big of an issue exept if Banefull Bunker, Gyarados prevents auto-lose from Bulu, Pelipper only serves to make Mega Swampert scarier. Scarf/Specs/Sub-calm Mind keldeo, Pivot Rotom-wash, Cro-Cune, BD Azumarill, Support from Roost-Toxic Mantine etc. There is legit too much to name so having 2 mons that each 5-0 against prepaired rain teams is just bluntly put amazing.

Put up rocks(I know diancie could get free kills, but often sash Infernape or Sash Blacephalon cause issues if no rocks go up)
Once those are up controll the weather and prevent spin from Torkoal. Azumarill should end the game, Koko can end the game, Scarf Bulu can 80% gamble to end the game and lastly Diancie wins. Main issue you have facing this mono will be Heatran, so make the baloon pop and it should snowball from there. Often the draft is; Sash Infernape, Mega-Charizard-X/Y, Torkoal, Heatran, Rotom-H/Blacephalon, Volcarona

This is a pain to fight, holding CB/Bulk Up Tapu Bulu, Cradily, Mega Venusaur, Ferrothorn and potential Serperior issues.
Focus on removing one at a time, if Ferro goes down it can get loads easier. Keep in mind Ferro/cradil are switched around when dealing with Koko as Diancie is still there for them. Mimikyu needs to have Ferro OR Bulu gone before set up. If this is done the game speeds up heavily forcing sacks on both sides every 3 turns if both play well enough. Often the draft exists of; Mega-venusaur, Breloom, Cradily, Tapu Bulu, Ferrothorn, Serperior.

Often a Trick Room abusing team, force down on the TR users with Koko. If they have golurk Azumarill often does the job.
Main pokemon to look out for include Mimikyu, golurk/Jellicent and Marowak-Alola. SD Mimikyu is an issue and Tr boosted Maro wrecks havoc. Admitedly it is hard to get around if you don't optimize the offense you can at any 1v1 keep, it's just that once you take something out the issue arrives that they can put up TR or set up or etc. Common team structure; Mega Sableye, Mimikyu, Blacephalon, Marowak-Alola, Dhelmise, Jellicent/Cofag or Golurk/Gengar.

Remove Cradily with Klefki, Bulu, Mimikyu set up etc. Prevent Tr from Staka with M-diancie. Prevent webs from Shuckle with M-diancie. Legit this mono sucks and we all know it. Best it does vs mono fairy is TR and spam attacks with Rhyperior. Cradily prevents 5-0 by Azumarill so saying it's not 100% needed on mono rocks is laughable. Scarf Bulu 6-0's, no question it just 6-0's, best the common teams have for it is Stakataka and that can't counter it. Shuckle could infest + toxic but dies to 3 Hammer's.

Prevent webs from galvantula at all cost, put up rocks mid game and roll with Mega-Diancie. This is a scary mono but so much space for destruction on both sides. The obvious issue is Mega-Scizor but do NOT underestimate the threat of Mega-Pinsir under Sticky Web support. Bulu does nothing this game but truth be told Tapu Koko just zones in with a simple specs thunderbolt and a single monentum trade vs Scarfed Buzz/hera who go for Poison Jab or EQ respectively. Common team structure; Armaldo, Volcarona, Galvantula, Araquanid, Mega-Scizor/Forretress, Mega-Pinsir/Buzzwole/Scarf-Heracross.

Scarf greninja is scary as it keeps gambling with gunk shot/U-turn. Muk-Alola often damage trades with one of the mons. Mandibuzz is a momentum drain but keep in mind helmet Mandibuzz is fat enough to take +2 Mimikyu's Play Rough, takes nothing from edge from Bulu and can remove hazards at will. Sure Klefki/Diancie stop all it does but keep in mind how big of an issue it could be. lastly Bisharp... 50/50 with the Scarf or Sash chances as Lo is a joke in this regard. Bulu checks, Azu takes a bit from +2 Sucker but KO's with Jet. Koko doesn't like taking it on but it certainly checks all besides a flinch happy Bisharp.

>''Fairy nerfs Dragons to unfair extend''. Yea no, Scarf Kyurem-B with Iron head should be treated with every single sense of care. DD Iron Head Dragonite is also no joke. CB Dragonite is much less relevant but still a potential issue. Azumarill, Specs Koko and a well played Klefki is needed to not lose to these 2 giants. Past these there are very obvious plays like Bulu 100% switch into garchomp and every other mon is to my honest opinion nothing to worry about. Kommo can't set up vs anything so all it ever does is spam Jab. Koko and Diancie-mega get free kills.

Bulu wants Zapdos gone, so make it. Koko pivots untill golem-A/Magnezone are removed, after that just spam Dazzel to your own desire.
Azumarill doesn't have an easy time but can still do work vs Xurk/Raichu-A after Terrain and destroy Rotom/Zap if you Play it Rough.
Preserve Bulu at every cost and you should win without much efford.
Common team structure; Xurkitree/Raichu-Alola, Tapu Koko, Rotom-Wash, Zapdos, Magneton, Golem-Alola

Mirror match up is fun, you have Flash Cannon Klefki, they have Choice Band Tapu Bulu. Everything else is bland. Diancie is a major mon, Opposing BD Azu needs Bulu gone so keep that in mind. if you remove their Klefki the game speeds up to 4-0 with your Bulu as their Tapu Koko is suddenly asked to check Bulu.

They have Scarf Keldeo/Terrakion/Infernape/Buzzwole and Sash Breloom/Infernape.... they don't stand a chance if you play with a brain.
Fight isn't a bad mono but it can't reasonably deal with this mono without triple Scarf users.
Common team; Keldeo, Mega-Gallade, Terrakion, Breloom, Infernape, Kommo-o

I call this mono annoyance. You can legit lose on the spot to this mono because they have outs to all your breakers; DD Dragonite, Celesteela, Skarmory, Mantine to irritate Azumarill, Lando-T/gliscor to hinder Koko, Thunderus-T to stop Koko with Scarf Sludge Wave and lasty they have Zapdos. It should be obvious this team relies on Bulu to revenge and all the things here besides gliscor and Lando-T switch INTO YOU instead of Bulu into them. Lando-I is cool but nothing a well played azu can't irritate. Be thoughtfull on Knock/Aqua Jet plays vs it tho. Koko is your friend, Mega-Diancie is your friend and most importantly, Mimikyu is a free KO.
They often have; Zapdos/Thunderus-T, Lando-T/Gliscor, Mantine, Skarmory/Celesteela, Thunderus-T/Celesteela/Charizard-Y, Dragonite/Charizard-Y. (you see all kind of combinations as many good options are simalar to another such as the case of Zap->Thunderus-T, Lando-T->Gliscor, Celesteela->Skarmory.

Ground mono is basically Hippo+Exca's fun house, they go into Toad on Azu on everything besides with Exca and Garchomp for some unholy reasoning. Azu can clean 6-0 if you play it well. On the same note if they play toad/Exca well they can 6-0 with Excadrill.
They are always; Excadrill, Hippowdon, Landorus-I, Sash Sludge wave Dugtrio, Seismitoad/gastrodon, Scarf/Sash garchomp.

Ice Mono is funny because they use Avalugg, which is absolute shit as it allowes in pretty much every special attacker known to mankind. All ice Mono has to be scary is lead Mamo with LO/Sash, Scarf Kyurem-B and Cloyster. This team doesn't care for Veil, this team doens't care for Weavile, this team doesn't care for anything it has if you play properly with Koko and Klefki not to mention Mega-Diancie. However, if veil go up and Cloyster gets to set up without being damaged once. You played poorly as 3 of those things could be dealt with.
