Set Description
=============
Tapu Koko has a niche in 1v1 due to its ability to disrupt opposing Pokemon utilizing its useful status moves with its quick Speed. It gets access to reliable recovery in the form of Roost, which is essential to staying alive long enough to whittle down foes using Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt is usually used once foes can no longer damage Tapu Koko more quickly than it heals. Eerie Impulse shuts down many special attackers such as Tapu Lele, non-Choice Scarf Heatran, and Necrozma. Taunt is for a better matchup against opposing stall Pokemon, such as Registeel and Zapdos. It also stifiles setup Pokemon, like Nasty Plot Galarian Moltres, Fake Tears Sylveon, and Metal Sound Magnezone. With the above moves, combined with the immediate +1 Defense boost from Electric Surge and the Electric Seed, many slower Pokemon, such as Sawk and Necrozma, cannot KO it before it KOes them. Tapu Koko’s moveslots can be flexible, and some teams may require Tapu Koko to drop Taunt for Iron Defense, beating more physical threats such as Rillaboom and Avalugg.

EVs
=============
The Speed EVs on this set are for neutral-natured Choice Scarf Dracozolt and Dracovish. The HP investment ensures overall bulk, and the rest of the EVs are put in Special Defense, increasing the chances of Tapu Koko surviving against Choice Specs Porygon-Z and other special attackers after an Eerie Impulse.

The Speed and Special Defense investments are customizable depending on what matchups Tapu Koko needs to cover. One such alternate option is a spread of 248 HP / 8 SpA / 156 SpD / 96 Spe with a Timid nature, which outspeeds Pokemon with base 110 Speed, such as Latios and Archeops, and survives Choice Specs Porygon-Z’s Hyper Beam after an Eerie Impulse, with the rest of the EVs put in Special Attack to maximize the chance for Thunderbolt to 2HKO Porygon-Z.

Usage Tips
=============
Playing with Tapu Koko can require some informed guesses about what moves and items the foe is running. Many Pokemon, like Jirachi and Togekiss, have Choice Scarf variants that run Trick, which could lock Tapu Koko into a status move. To prevent this, you should use Thunderbolt against potential Trick Pokemon on turn 1. One major exception to this rule is the Cresselia matchup, where Tapu Koko should use Taunt first because Choice Scarf Cresselia does not usually run enough Speed EVs to be faster than Tapu Koko. Using Taunt on Cresselia also prevents non-Choice item variants from using Calm Mind. Outside of these matchups, blocking setup Pokemon such as Volcorona or Zapdos with Taunt or using Eerie Impulse or Iron Defense to live attacks from Volcanion and Rillaboom is the best first course of action.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Tapu Koko can run Dazzling Gleam on occasion over Thunderbolt covering Curse Dragapult and Zeraora, at the cost of doing less damage because of Dazzling Gleam’s lower Base Power and the loss of the Electric Terrain boost. Using Dazzling Gleam instead of Thunderbolt also makes matchups against Steel- and Fire-types, such as Aggron and Heatran, much longer, giving them more chances to get a critical hit, which would KO Tapu Koko through its boosts.

Set Description
========
While in other formats, Tapu Koko is used for its offensive power, in 1v1, Tapu Koko’s overwhelmingly most popular set is its stall set. Tapu Koko carves itself a unique niche due to the combination of Electric Seed + Electric Surge, alongside both Def and Spd boosting capabilities. Tapu Koko’s high natural speed allows it to set an Iron Defense or Eerie Impulse before the opponent can attack it, which supplements its above-average bulk, allowing Tapu Koko to survive a hit and use Roost to heal any damage taken. Combined with the +1 Defense that Tapu Koko gets from Electric Seed, and Tapu Koko can be quite tricky to break through for many Pokémon it outspeeds. Tapu Koko can also only be hit super effectively by Ground and Poison moves, the latter of which is not all that common, which further adds to Tapu Koko’s strength as a defensive monster. The combination of Iron Defense and Electric Seed allow Tapu Koko to defeat physical threats such as (insert here), while Light Screen defeats special threats including (insert here). Roost is for restoring HP to provide longevity while Tapu Koko whittles down the foe with either of its main STAB options. Thunderbolt is generally preferred due to the damage boost granted from Electric Terrain and ability to hit Steel-types such as Aggron and Heatran, however Dazzling Gleam is an option for Ground-Types such as Zygarde and Landorus-Therian, while also hitting Dragon-types harder. (Not bad at all, you've got the right idea but the wrong execution of information. This section is far less complicated then you think. It's basically just an explanation of what the Pokemon does and describing the matchups each of its moves grants. I've given you the starting point to these but would like you to find the matchups for them - 2-3 examples for each is a good ballpark area to aim for.)

EVs
========
The Speed EVs on this Tapu Koko set allow it to outspeed unboosted base 110s like Latios and Archeops.

The rest of the EVs go into maximizing bulk, while giving Genesect an Attack boost from Download when Scarf, and a Special Attack boost otherwise (more on this under Strategy and Support). The Special Defense investment allows Tapu Koko to survive Hyper Beam from most standard Choice Specs Porygon-Z after an Eerie Impulse, and survives the vast majority of the time if the opposing Porygon-Z is max Special Attack and Modest.

Strategy & Support
========
To use Tapu Koko effectively, it is usually best to set up an Iron Defense or Eerie Impulse turn 1 against most physical and special attackers respectively, followed by subsequent boosts and roosting when necessary alongside either of Tapu Koko's damaging moves when out of range of being KOd. and then boost and Roost until the opponent does negligible damage with their attacks. After this, whittle down the opponent with Thunderbolt, using Roost as necessary.

Tapu Koko relies on its speed to set up boosts and debuffs that opposing Pokémon cannot outpace or break through. However, this does not mean that being slower than Tapu Koko is a death sentence - other than the obvious Ground types some Pokémon, like most Haxorus sets, can KO Tapu Koko while it is setting up the boosts. (This is all kind of irrelevant now that we've got Dazzling Gleam as an option over Thunderbolt. If you can think of other examples that'd be great, but I think that being able to break Tapu Koko after an initial boost / debuff is more of a display of raw power than it is a matter of speed, if that makes sense. You can either remove this point or find other examples - Something like non-Choice Band Snorlax comes to mind.)

Tapu Koko can be quite strong, but it needs to be paired with teammates that can patch up its weakness to strong offense and opposing stall. Pairing Tapu Koko with a super fast hyper offensive Pokémon like Choice Band Pheromosa or bulky Pokémon like Cresselia with Trick or Encore Primarina can go a long way in ensuring that a team with Tapu Koko has solid all-around matchups. patching up these weaknesses.

Tapu Koko’s matchup against Genesect involves quite complex interactions between Download and Electric Surge’s activation of Electric Seed. If their Download activates before Electric Surge, this means the opponent is using Choice Scarf and will give them an Attack boost. This prevents Steel Beam from OHKOing Tapu Koko to which you can respond with Roost and win due to the mechanics of Steel Beam KOing the user before the opponent. It should be noted however that Choice Scarf Genesect can both utilize Gunk Shot which forces a 50/50 situation between using Roost and Iron Defense. Any other Genesect set will get a Special Attack boost after the Electric Seed Defense boost, which can be dealt with by using Eerie Impulse. Genesects have begun running mixed and fully physical sets with Gunk Shot, which, provided that Gunk Shot hits, can beat Tapu Koko because of Gunk Shot’s high base power and super effective typing, so this Pokémon is a less reliable check to Genesect. It should also be noted that Genesect is capable of running mixed and physical sets with Gunk Shot, which makes Tapu Koko a less reliable check overall. (Same content basically, but more to the point.)

Other Options
=============
Offensive Koko is not nearly as common as it is in other formats, but it still exists in 1v1, even though many of its potential sets are outclassed by Regieleki. The main offensive niche Tapu Koko has over Regieleki is its coverage options, like Grass Knot for Rhyperior and STAB-boosted Dazzling Gleam for Dragons and Urshifu-S, which can become powerful offensive options when boosted by Choice Specs.

Tapu Koko can also run sets with Charge like it did in Ultra Sun and Moon, but they are not nearly as good, given the prominence of Regieleki and the addition of Eerie Impulse to its arsenal this generation. (You weren't to know this, but for now we're just focussing on one individual set.)

An alternative spread of 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe alongside Taunt over Iron Defense is also an option in order to outspeed some niche Pokemon such as Adamant Choice Scarf Dracozolt and Dracovish, but most notably allows Tapu Koko to defeat Spectrier. This does however come at the cost of many physical matchups.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Ground- and Steel- Types**: Tapu Koko’s only attacking move on its main set is an Electric type move, and so it cannot damage ground types and is hit super effectively in return. Any matchup versus common ground types like the Landorus formes and Zygarde are an autoloss. If using Thunderbolt, Tapu Koko finds itself unable to damage Ground-types such as Zygarde and Landorus-Therian. If using Dazzling Gleam, Steel-type targets such as Heatran and Aggron are far more likely to break through via an eventual critical hit.

**Opposing Stall**: Tapu Koko lacks the tools to deal with many common stall sets, like Stored Power Necrozma, Registeel and Spectrier, due its overall lack of offensive power and lack of setup options. This means that many stall mons Pokemon will often set up defensive boosts and wait out Tapu Koko.

**Super Fast Offense**: Although Tapu Koko is fast, it can still be outsped by some common Pokémon like most Choice Scarf users and Pheromosa, especially with the minimal speed investment on its most common set. Many of the Pokémon that outspeed Tapu Koko also have the offensive stats necessary to OHKO Tapu Koko.
don't implement this yet as there's gonna be some changes to the writing format soon, but i thought i'd post it anyway since you did a really good job for your first time. just take note of the things i've changed and see how little changes to formatting and phrasing can make a big difference in how the reader perceives your information

Set Description
=============
Tapu Koko has a unique niche in 1v1 due to its ability to boost Defense and Special Defense with Eerie Impulse or Charge and Iron Defense before the opponent moves (Make clear that this is speed-related, just to be unambiguous) (Also, fix the order of moves to be in line with the order you mention them in the set). Eerie Impulse is used for its immediate damage reduction (name a few pokemon that this is useful against), but can be replaced with Charge for more PP and an extra damage boost for Thunderbolt. Combined with the immediate +1 Defense boost it gets from Electric Surge and the Electric Seed, many slower Pokemon (Like?) cannot break through these boosts. Tapu Koko’s move slots can be flexible to the needs of the team, and so Tapu Koko can sometimes drop Iron Defense or Charge/Eerie Impulse for Taunt (Taunt is listed as the first of the slash options and should be your default option: rewrite this so that you're dropping Taunt for Iron Defense instead), gaining the ability to shut down opposing stall and set up Pokemon (Such as?). Tapu Koko also gets access to a reliable recovery move in the form of Roost, which is essential to staying alive long enough to whittle down opponents.

EVs
=============
The speed on this set is for Choice Scarf Dracozolt and Dracovish that do not have a speed-boosting nature. The HP investment ensures that Tapu Koko can live any hit from Choice Band Aggron (is running about eighty EVs too many for this specific benchmark, can you think of anything where max HP is more essential? Otherwise just say 'max overall bulk'), and the rest of the EVs are put in Special Defense (Explain what matchups this helps in). The Speed and Special Defense investment are customizable, depending on what matchups a given Tapu Koko needs to cover. (Customizable in what way? What matchups will different spreads help me cover? Give an alternate spread that a new player can just paste in their builder)

Usage Tips
=============
To use Tapu Koko effectively, it is usually best to set up an Iron Defense or Eerie Impulse turn 1 against most physical and special attackers respectively, followed by subsequent boosts or using Roost, fitting in Thunderbolts or Dazzling Gleams when not at risk of being KOed. Tapu Koko will almost never deviate from this unless carrying Taunt, which would also need to be weaved in, replacing attacks when the opponent is not Taunted. (This entire section mostly just re-states what moves Koko carries and what they do. Try and distinguish some categories of foes (special wallbreakers, physical wallbreakers, mons that might run trick scarf) and explain what move koko should use versus them)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Tapu Koko rarely runs any other set, as it faces significant cost as compared to Regieleki as a fast Electric type (correct information, weird phrasing, can you rewrite this? koko is not 'facing a (opportunity) cost', the player using it is). Tapu Koko’s main niche over Regieleki is its access to STAB Dazzling Gleam and Grass Knot, which could theoretically allow an offensive Tapu Koko to beat Pokemon such as Assault Vest Urshifu, Rhyperior, Swampert, and non-Rindo Berry Gastrodon (the last two are currently C+, good practice is to try and stick to B- and higher mons when mentioning matchups), along with many of the same threats that Regieleki can beat with its Electric-type coverage STAB. (Slightly less focus on the eleki comparison maybe, explain what koko can run that didn't got mentioned in the main set, what those beat, and why they aren't in the main set/suboptimal)

A bit of an overemphasis on move options that are obscure at best and irrelevant at worst. The default koko set should run Taunt over Iron Defense as it helps in more matchups (seed means that koko is pretty bulky on the physical side by default). A few sentences are phrased weirdly, always check the verbs and what they refer to (you wouldn't write "koko's unique role in the metagame is access to grass knot", so don't say "its niche is access to grass knot"). Also, when writing about a move or item it is useful to mention some specific matchups that it helps you win, as opposed to something generic like 'setup pokemon' where inevitably some fit that description but win anyway. You're writing for someone with zero metagame knowledge, they may not know what even runs setup.

(Moves need to be mentioned in the same order that they are in the set. So first roost, then thunderbolt, then eerie impulse, then taunt, and then slash options where you explain what they can be used over and what they do.)
(Example pokemon should be B- or higher on the viability rankings, unless you can absolutely not find a higher example (and if you can't, PM me on discord and I'll try and come up with something). This includes chansey and swampert.)

Tapu Koko has a unique niche in 1v1 due to its ability to boost Defense and Special Defense with Eerie Impulse and or (You are only using one of these at a given time, so it's 'or', not 'and') Iron Defense before the opponent moves, due its 130 base Speed. Eerie Impulse is used for its immediate damage reduction against Pokemon such as Necrozma or Tapu Lele. Combined with the immediate +1 Defense boost it gets from Electric Surge and the Electric Seed, many slower Pokemon, such as Heatran or Swampert cannot break through these boosts. Tapu Koko’s Speed also allows it to run Taunt, gaining the ability to shut down opposing stall, such as Chansey, Registeel or Zapdos, and set up Pokemon. Taunt also prevents some Pokemon that utilize setup moves, like Nasty Plot Moltres-G and Metal Sound Magnezone. Tapu Koko’s move slots can be flexible to the needs of the team, and so Tapu Koko can sometimes drop Taunt for Iron Defense, beating more physically threatening Pokemon such as Sawk and (You're missing a pokemon here. Also, koko only needs iron defense to beat scarf sawk, it already beats band and custap. Consider Gunk Shot Genesect, Dracozolt, and maybe Rillaboom as mons to mention here). Tapu Koko also gets access to a reliable recovery move in the form of Roost, which is essential to staying alive long enough to whittle down opponents.

EVs
=============
The speed on this set is for Choice Scarf Dracozolt and Dracovish that do not have a speed-boosting nature. The HP investment ensures overall bulk, and the rest of the EVs are put in Special Defense for general bulk, which also allows for Tapu Koko to win against Choice Specs Heatran, given Heatran does not land a critical hit. (Don't say that special defense is for 'general bulk' if you can mention specific matchups. Specs heatran is a bit irrelevant, consider pokemon like Regieleki and sometimes Specs Porygon-Z, where more special defense makes that matchup more in your favor)

The Speed and Special Defense investment are customizable, depending on what matchups a given Tapu Koko needs to cover. One such alternate option is a spread of 248 HP / 40 Def / 124 SpD / 96 Spe with a Timid Nature, which outspeeds Pokemon with base 110 speed, such as Latios and Archeops, and survives Choice Specs Sylveon’s Hyper Beam after an Eerie Impulse, with the rest put in Defense for general bulk. (The alternative spread you give isn't EVd for the things it claims to be EVd for: it runs way too much special defense for -2 choice specs sylveon hyper beam. Please either change the EVs or mention the actual benchmark)

Usage Tips
=============
Playing with Tapu Koko can require some informed guesses about what the opponent may be running. Many Pokemon, like Jirachi and Togekiss have Choice Scarf variants that run Trick, which would lock Tapu Koko into using only Eerie Impulse (This makes it sound like you'd normally be clicking Eerie Impulse t1 against nonscarf jirachi), which means the opponent is free to chip Tapu Koko down while Tapu Koko is incapable of doing damage. To prevent this, Tapu Koko may need to should (Try to sound a bit more decisive, a new player has no use for those 'mays') use Thunderbolt against Trick Pokemon on turn 1 to prevent this situation. Other than these matchups, setting up boosts or preventing setup Pokemon such as Volcorona from setting theirs up with Taunt is generally the best gameplan.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Tapu Koko can run Dazzling Gleam on occasion over Thunderbolt, covering Dracozolt (This isn't OHKOd by dazzling gleam, meanwhile band OHKOs and scarf outspeeds and 2hkos; either change it to custap dracozolt, remove the gleam point, or find another example) and Urshifu-S (The only Urshifu-S where this matters is some weird specially defensive band/LO set. Consider mentioning Curse Dragapult.) more easily, at the cost of doing less damage because of Dazzling Gleam’s lower base power and the loss of the Electric Terrain boost that came from using Thunderbolt. Using Dazzling Gleam instead of Thunderbolt also makes matchups against Steel and Fire types, such as Aggron or Heatran, much longer, increasing chances for critical hits onto Tapu Koko, KOing Tapu Koko through its boosts.

Tapu Koko rarely runs any set that is not stall, as it is often less useful than Regieleki as an offensive Electric type, given that Tapu Koko does not hit as hard and is significantly slower. Tapu Koko’s main niche over Regieleki is its access to STAB Dazzling Gleam and Grass Knot, which could allow an offensive Tapu Koko to beat Pokemon such as Assault Vest Urshifu and Rhyperior, along with many of the same threats that Regieleki can beat with its Electric-type STAB.

(Talk about Tapu Koko's general niche first. Talk about it's speed and disruptive abilities allowing it to chip down opponents. Ik you put it in the first sentence but it is a bit of a run on sentence, and you combine it with the reasoning for Roost and TBolt. Just have a second sentence briefly explaining the importance of those two moves.) Tapu Koko gets access to a reliable recovery move in the form of Roost, which is essential to staying alive long enough to whittle down opponents using Thunderbolt, which, combined with its ability to boost Special Defense with Eerie Impulse before the opponent moves, due its 130 base Speed, makes Tapu Koko a difficult Pokemon to effectively deal with. Eerie Impulse shuts down many special-attacking Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, non-Scarf Heatran and Necrozma. Eerie Impulse is usually paired with Taunt for a better matchup against opposing stall, such as Registeel or Zapdos. Taunt also prevents some Pokemon that utilize setup moves, like Nasty Plot Endure Moltres-G and Metal Sound Magnezone. Playing with Tapu Koko can require some informed guesses about what the opponent may be running. Many Pokemon, like Jirachi and Togekiss have Choice Scarf variants that run Trick, which could lock Tapu Koko into using only a status move once Tricked. To prevent this, when using Tapu Koko, you should consider using use (to make sure people know to do it if they know if they have trick) Thunderbolt against Trick Pokemon on turn 1 to ensure that you do not risk being locked into a status move. However, against Cresselia, you should use Taunt, because Trick variants are slower than Tapu Koko, so they cannot get a trick off, and you can prevent other Cresselia variants from using Calm Mind. Other than these matchups, setting up boosts or preventing setup Pokemon such as Volcorona Volcarona or Zapdos from setting their own status moves with Taunt or using Eerie Impulse or Iron Defense to live attacks from Volcanion or Rillaboom is the best course of action.

Tapu Koko can run Dazzling Gleam on occasion over Thunderbolt, covering Curse Dragapult and Zeraora, at the cost of doing less damage because of Dazzling Gleam’s lower base power and the loss of the Electric Terrain boost. Using Dazzling Gleam instead of Thunderbolt also makes matchups against Steel and Fire types, such as Aggron or Heatran, much longer, giving them more chances to get a critical hit, which would KO Tapu Koko through its boosts.

Tapu Koko rarely runs any set that is not stall, as it is often less useful than Regieleki as an offensive Electric type, given that Tapu Koko does not hit as hard and is significantly slower. Tapu Koko’s main niche over Regieleki is its access to STAB Dazzling Gleam and Grass Knot coverage, which could allow an offensive Tapu Koko to beat Pokemon such as Assault Vest Urshifu and Rhyperior, along with Electric-weak Pokemon like Togekiss and Moltres-Galar . (Ik I just told you to edit this a little bit, but this is not worth putting here until it develops. RN its just a theorized set only a few people have tried.)

It is close. Message me when you have implemented these changes.

Set Description
=============
Tapu Koko has a niche in 1v1 due to its ability to disrupt opposing Pokemon, utilizing its quick speed and useful status moves. Tapu Koko gets access to a reliable recovery move in the form of Roost, which is essential to staying alive long enough to whittle down opponents using Thunderbolt, it's main attack to KO the opponent after they cannot do enough damage to it . (There wasn't enough of an explanation for Thunderbolt. It is decently self explanitory but having it makes sure people know to have an attack). Combined with its ability to boost Special Defense with Eerie Impulse before the opponent moves, due its 130 base Speed, makes Tapu Koko a difficult Pokemon to effectively deal with. (This feels like another basic explanation of it's niche, and since you explain Eerie and Taunt after this, this sentence feels unnecessary) Eerie Impulse shuts down many special-attacking Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, non-Scarf Heatran and Necrozma. Taunt for a better matchup against opposing stall, such as Registeel or Zapdos and prevents Pokemon that utilize setup moves, like Nasty Plot Endure Moltres-G, Fake Tears Sylveon, and Metal Sound Magnezone from setting up boosts. Combined with the immediate +1 Defense boost it gets from Electric Surge and the Electric Seed, many slower physical Pokemon, such as Choice Band Sawk and Primarina Necrozma and Sawk cannot KO Tapu Koko before it KOs them. Tapu Koko’s move slots can be flexible to the needs of the team, and so Tapu Koko can sometimes drop Taunt for Iron Defense, beating more physically threatening Pokemon such as Rillaboom or Avalugg.

EVs
=============
The speed EVs on this set are for Choice Scarf Dracozolt and Dracovish that do not have a speed-boosting nature. The HP investment ensures overall bulk, and the rest of the EVs are put in Special Defense, increasing the chances of Tapu Koko surviving against Choice Specs Porygon-Z and other special attackers after an Eerie Impulse.

The Speed and Special Defense investment are customizable, depending on what matchups it needs to cover. One such alternate option is a spread of 248 HP / 8 SpA / 156 SpD / 96 Spe with a Timid Nature, which outspeeds Pokemon with base 110 speed, such as Latios and Archeops, and survives Choice Specs Porygon-Z’s Hyper Beam after an Eerie Impulse, with the rest put in Special Attack to maximize the chance for Thunderbolt to 2HKO Porygon-Z.

Usage Tips
=============
Playing with Tapu Koko can require some informed guesses about what the opponent may be running. Many Pokemon, like Jirachi and Togekiss have Choice Scarf variants that run Trick, which could lock Tapu Koko into using only a status move. To prevent this, you should use Thunderbolt against Trick Pokemon on turn 1 to ensure that you do not risk being locked into a status move. One major exception to this rule is the Cresselia matchup, where Tapu Koko should use Taunt because Cresselia does not usually run enough Speed EVs to be faster than Tapu Koko. Other than these matchups, setting up boosts or preventing setup Pokemon such as Volcarona or Zapdos with Taunt or using Eerie Impulse or Iron Defense to live attacks from Volcanion or Rillaboom is the best course of action.

Tapu Koko gets access to a reliable recovery move in the form of Roost, which is essential to staying alive long enough to whittle down opponents foes using Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt is used to deal damage to the opponent, and is usually used once the opponent foe can no longer damage Tapu Koko sufficiently more quickly than it can heal. (I imagine?) Eerie Impulse shuts down many special-attacking Pokemon special attackers such as Tapu Lele, non-Choice Scarf Heatran, (AC) and Necrozma. Taunt is for a better matchup against opposing stall Pokemon, such as Registeel or and Zapdos, (AC) and prevents Pokemon that utilize setup moves setup Pokemon, like Nasty Plot + Endure Moltres-G Galarian Moltres, Fake Tears Sylveon, and Metal Sound Magnezone from setting up boosts. Playing with Tapu Koko can require some informed guesses about what the opponent may be moves the foe is running. Many Pokemon, like Jirachi and Togekiss, (AC) have Choice Scarf variants that run Trick, which could lock Tapu Koko into using only a status move. To prevent this, being locked into a status move, you should use Thunderbolt against potential Trick Pokemon on turn 1 to ensure that you do not risk being locked into a status move. One major exception to this rule is the Cresselia matchup, where Tapu Koko should use Taunt first because Cresselia does not usually run enough Speed EVs to be faster than Tapu Koko. Using Taunt on Cresselia also prevents non-Choiced non-Choice Scarf (or "non-Choice item" if Specs is also a thing) variants from using Calm Mind. Other than these matchups, preventing blocking setup Pokemon such as Volcorona or and Zapdos with Taunt or using Eerie Impulse or Iron Defense to live attacks from Volcanion or Rillaboom is the best first (I assume?) course of action.
