Calm Mind Tapu Lele is a great wallbreaker with a great STAB combination only stopped by Steel-types. However, Focus Blast can solve this problem with ease. Calm Mind gives it the power to pressure defensive pivots like Heatran, Galarian Slowking, and Mega Scizor and overwhelm them. Its Speed tier is quite handy, allowing it to outspeed the likes of Landorus-T, Mega Garchomp, and Excadrill, but it misses out on Urshifu-R, Volcarona, Garchomp, and Victini. This, and Tapu Lele's mediocre bulk, makes revenge killing it pretty easy, making it hard to outright sweep. Psychic can break down physically defensive walls like Clefable and Gliscor, while Psyshock focuses more on hitting specially defensive Pokemon like Blissey and Chansey. Both are very strong thanks to Psychic Terrain's boost. Moonblast provides a reliable way of hitting Dark-types like Ash-Greninja, Weavile, and Hydreigon that are immune Psychic, and it's stronger while outside of Psychic Terrain. Focus Blast allows Tapu Lele to hit annoying Steel-types and, with Fightinium Z, it can nuke the likes of Corviknight, Mega Tyranitar, and Mega Scizor without risking a miss. Psychium Z can also be run with Psyshock for an extremely powerful Z-Move to take down both physically and specially defensive walls, creating rather big holes in defensive teams, and notably preventing Unaware Clefable from using Calm Mind to stop Tapu Lele in its tracks.

Calm Mind Tapu Lele fits well on bulky offense teams, but it can also be used on offense. Magnezone, Heatran, Mega Garchomp, and Mega Mawile can break down Steel-type Pokemon like Heatran, Ferrothorn, Corviknight, and Mega Scizor that can take on Tapu Lele's STAB moves well, especially enabling Psychium Z sets. Tapu Lele's summoned Psychic Terrain strengthens attacks from teammates like Mega Medicham and Psychic Volcarona. It also protects teammates like Mega Garchomp, Volcarona, and Mega Gyarados from revenge killers with priority like Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, and Ash-Greninja, letting them set up and sweep much more easily. A sturdy defensive backbone is appreciated against physical threats such as Kartana, Weavile, and Garchomp that revenge kill Tapu Lele well. Corviknight and Zapdos can do well to pivot into some of the aforementioned threats, along with generating momentum with U-turn and Volt Switch, respectively.

[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Specs Tapu Lele is a terrifying wallbreaker, being able to leave large holes in many defensive teams. However, being Choice locked makes it easier to take advantage of, especially given its middling Speed tier and physical bulk. Psychic lets Tapu Lele break through walls like Clefable, Tapu Fini, and Gliscor, as well as hitting most foes harder than Psyshock. Psyshock allows Tapu Lele to break down specially defensive behemoths such as Blissey and Chansey. Moonblast hits Dark-types Tapu Lele's Psychic-type moves cannot such as Greninja, Mega Sableye, and Hydreigon, along with being a more powerful STAB move outside of Psychic Terrain. Focus Blast hits Steel-types like Heatran and Ferrothorn, which can take on Tapu Lele's STAB moves decently. Hidden Power Fire can nail Aegislash and Mega Scizor and is more reliable, but losing Focus Blast eliminates Tapu Lele's main way to significantly damage Heatran. A Modest nature can be used over Timid for more wallbreaking prowess, like 2HKOing Mega Scizor and Corviknight with Focus Blast, but it leaves Tapu Lele outsped by a lot more Pokemon such as Kyurem, opposing Tapu Lele, and Mega Garchomp.

Choice Specs Tapu Lele fits on bulky offense primarily, and it appreciates Pokemon that can let it in safely like Corviknight, Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, and Rillaboom using U-turn or Volt Switch. Mega Tyranitar, Mega Mawile, and Clefable can chip down Steel-types like Heatran, Corviknight, and Ferrothorn greatly for Tapu Lele to effectively break down teams. Mega Medicham and Volcarona enjoy Psychic Terrain boosting their Psychic-type attacks, and setup sweepers in Volcarona, Kommo-o, and Mega Charizard X enjoy being protected from revenge killers with priority such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, and Ash-Greninja. Tapu Lele also needs support in a strong defensive backbone due to its average Speed letting Garchomp, Kartana, Weavile, and Greninja outpace it, and its poor bulk making it vulnerable to Mega Scizor and Heatran. Corviknight and Rotom-W can help check the various aforementioned threats while keeping up momentum to get Tapu Lele in repeatedly.

Thunder or Thunderbolt can be run over Psychic on Choice Specs variants to significantly damage Corviknight and stop it from supposedly checking Tapu Lele. However, it makes it harder to break through Gliscor and Clefable. Nature's Madness can also be run on Choice Scarf variants to break down any Pokemon, but it has trouble causing any further damage once locked into, and dropping Psychic sacrifices great possible damage against defensive cores. Thunder can also be used on Calm Mind sets, and Electrium Z enables Gigavolt Havoc to nuke Corviknight, but it loses out on Focus Blast targets like Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Mega Tyranitar. Choice Scarf Tapu Lele can also work as a revenge killer but can lack power in breaking down defensive cores, along with being easily exploited after locking into a move. Future Sight can give support to teammates but is an underwhelming pick to drop for its other moves.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Heatran, Corviknight, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor can handle Tapu Lele's STAB moves decently and use the opportunity to generate momentum with entry hazards or U-turn. However, they still have to fear the potential of Fightinium Z, and Ferrothorn and Heatran in specific have to fear Focus Blast. Aegislash also excels at checking Tapu Lele, only fearing Hidden Power Fire from Choice Specs Tapu Lele.

**Revenge Killers**: With Tapu Lele's average Speed and bulk, the likes of Kartana, Greninja, Garchomp, Weavile, and Mega Lopunny can revenge kill it. It can outpace these Pokemon using a Choice Scarf, but that in itself is an underwhelming option.

**Pursuit**: Pursuit from Choice Band Weavile and Tyranitar can trap Tapu Lele pretty well due Weavile outspeeding it and threatening it with any move, and Tyranitar surviving most hits from Tapu Lele. Choice item sets in particular have to be careful when clicking Psychic-type moves, since the Pursuit users can punish that relatively well.

Calm Mind Tapu Lele is a great wallbreaker in Natdex OU, with access to a great STAB combination only to be stopped by Steel-types, however, with access to Fighting-type coverage it can neuter this problem greatly. Calm Mind gives all of Tapu Lele's moves a great boost to pressure defensive walls like what? even more than before. Psychic gives a strong STAB move to break down physically defensive walls like Clefable and Gliscor, while Psyshock focuses more on hitting Specially defensive Pokemon like Blissey and Chansey, but struggles more against the aforementioned physical walls. Psychium Z can also be ran for an extremely powerful Z-move to take down a defensive wall with relative ease mention how this is a special z move so it hammers the mons that can take psyshocks, allowing Tapu Lele to create a rather big hole in defensive teams and more notably preventing Unaware Clefable to use Calm Mind and stop Tapu Lele in its tracks. Moonblast provides a reliable way of hitting Dark-types that are immune to Tapu Lele's Psychic-type moves and can function as a stronger move to use while outside of Psychic Terrain. Focus Blast allows Tapu Lele to hit annoying Steel-types with Fightinium Z eliminating the risk factor of missing while hitting harder against the likes of Corviknight, Heatran, and Mega Scizor. Calm Mind gives all of the aforementioned moves a great boost to pressure defensive walls even more than before. talk about its speed tier

Magnezone, Mega Garchomp, and Mega Mawile can break down Steel-type Pokemon like Heatran, Ferrothorn, Corviknight, and Mega Scizor greatly that would be able to take on Tapu Lele's STAB moves well otherwise. This would enable Psychium Z Tapu Lele greatly, along with eliminating any risks to be taken with the lack of accuracy from Focus Blast. Heatran and Magnezone can also threaten to trap or OHKO some of the aforementioned examples to help out Tapu Lele. Tapu Lele can summon Psychic Terrain, which can compliment certain teammates in Mega Medicham and Volcarona's Psychic coverage. Psychic Terrain can also prevent teammate setup sweepers like Mega Garchomp, Volcarona, and Mega Gyarados from being revenge killed by priority in Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham's Fake Out or Ash-Greninja's Water Shuriken. Due to Tapu Lele's average speed and abusable middling bulk, Pokemon like Kartana, Weavile, and Garchomp do well in revenge killing it, so sturdy backbone to support Tapu Lele is appreciated. Corviknight and Skarmory can do well to pivot into some of the aforementioned threats, along with being able to generate momentum with U-turn and Volt Switch respectively. skarmory does not learn volt switch

Choice Specs Tapu Lele is a fantastic wallbreaker in National Dex, being able to leave great defensive holes in many defensive teams. Psychic gives Tapu Lele a Psychic-type STAB move that hits generally hard against the likes of Clefable, Tapu Fini, and Gliscor very hard and is overall being able to do better damage to a lot more Pokemon than Psyshock. Psyshock allows Tapu Lele to break down Specially Defensive walls like Blissey and Chansey. Focus Blast allows Tapu Lele to hit Steel-types like Heatran and Ferrothorn, who can otherwise take on Tapu Lele's STAB moves decently. Hidden Power Fire however can hit Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor reliably and make them less of a nuisance for Tapu Lele's STAB moves, but losing Focus Blast eliminates the main way to significantly damage Heatran.

Tapu Lele appreciates Pokemon that can let it in safely like Corviknight, Landorus-T, Tapu Koko, or Rillaboom using U-turn or Volt Switch. Thunder or Thunderbolt can also be ran over Psychic on Choice Specs variants in order to do significant damage to Slowking and Corviknight and stop them from supposedly checking Tapu Lele. whats the downside of this? Nature's Madness can also be run to break down any Pokemon, but has trouble causing any further damage after due to being locked into this attack. This also loses on the great damage that can be dealt to defensive cores upon giving up Psychic. Choice Scarf Tapu Lele can also be used as a form of speed control for a team but can lack attacking power in breaking down defensive cores, along with being easily abused by its Choice Scarf locking its move. mention future sight as well

**Steel-types**: Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor can handle Tapu Lele's STABs decently and in return use the opportunity to generate momentum with hazards or pivoting out with U-turn. Although they still have to fear the potential of Fightinium Z and Ferrothorn and Heatran in specific have to fear Focus Blast.

**Faster Pokemon Revenge Killers**: With average Speed and bulk, Tapu Lele can be revenge killed by many Pokemon like Kartana, Greninja, Garchomp, Tapu Koko, Weavile, Mega Lopunny, and Gengar. It can outpace these Pokemon using a Choice Scarf but Pokemon like Kartana and Landorus-T can also utilize a Choice Scarf to outspeed it.

**Pivots Corviknight and Slowking**: Corviknight and Slowking can pivot into Tapu Lele very well and while not being able to significant damage, they can pivot out using U-turn and Teleport respectively and safely bring in a Pokemon that can abuse Tapu Lele's average bulk and speed to revenge kill it well.

Thunder or Thunderbolt can also be ran be run over Psychic on Choice Specs variants in order to do significant damage to to significantly damage Slowking and Corviknight and stop them from supposedly checking Tapu Lele. However, it makes it harder to break through Gliscor and Clefable. Nature's Madness can also be run to break down any Pokemon, but it has trouble causing any further damage once locked into, and dropping Psychic sacrifices great possible damage against defensive cores. (assuming it is Specs only? if not, don't move the sentence and retool it to make clear only specs has to worry about the locking part) Thunder can also be used on Calm Mind sets, and can be made into Electrium Z enables Gigavolt Havoc to nuke pivots like Slowking and Corviknight, but it loses out on other Focus Blast targets like Mega Scizor, (FBlast only has 10 more bp, the same effectiveness, and lacks para chance, so i imagine removing mscizor makes sense?) Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Mega Tyranitar. Nature's Madness can also be run to break down any Pokemon, but has trouble causing any further damage after due to being locked into this attack. This also loses on the great damage that can be dealt to defensive cores upon giving up Psychic. Choice Scarf Tapu Lele can also be used as a form of speed control for a team work as a revenge killer but can lack power in breaking down defensive cores, along with being easily abused by its Choice Scarf locking its exploited after locking into a move. Future Sight can also be used to give support to other teammates but is an underwhelming pick to drop for its other moves.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Heatran, Corviknight, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor can handle Tapu Lele's STAB moves decently and in return use the opportunity to generate momentum with entry hazards or pivoting out with U-turn. Although However, they still have to fear the potential of Fightinium Z, (AC) and Ferrothorn and Heatran in specific have to fear Focus Blast. Aegislash also excels at checking Tapu Lele, only fearing Hidden Power Fire from Choice Specs Tapu Lele.

**Revenge Killers**: With Tapu Lele's average Speed and bulk, Tapu Lele can be revenge killed by the likes of Kartana, Greninja, Garchomp, Weavile, and Mega Lopunny can revenge kill it. It can outpace these Pokemon using a Choice Scarf, (AC) but that in itself is an underwhelming option.

**Slowking**: Slowking can pivot into Tapu Lele very well and, (AC) while not being able to significant damage, it damage it, can pivot out using Teleport and safely bring in a Pokemon that can abuse Tapu Lele's average bulk and speed to revenge kill it well. one of many suitable revenge killers.

**Pursuit**: Pursuit from Choice Band Weavile and Tyranitar can trap Tapu Lele pretty well due to the former being able to outspeed it and threaten Weavile outspeeding it and threatening it with any move, (AC) while Tyranitar can live and Tyranitar surviving most hits from Tapu Lele. Choice item sets in particular have to be careful when clicking Psychic-type moves, (AC) since the Pursuit users can punish that relatively well.
