Hey guys, this is my first Ubers RMT, as I've just been getting into the tier rather recently. I've played OU for quite a while on PO and I've dabbled in the lower tiers as well, but once I started playing Ubers on PS, I quickly got into it. I'm not very high (this team peaked me at like 1350ish I believe?) as I've tested MULTIPLE teams that have brought me up and down, but this team seems to work the best for me and I find myself having the most fun with it. So here it is!
Notice the sick black and red color theme going on: totally unintentional when I started building the team, but it worked out.
Zekrom @ Leftovers
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Hone Claws
- Bolt Strike
- Outrage
This used to be DD Rayquaza...until I realized that Rayquaza was not as bulky as I thought it would be, even with the useful resistances. Zekrom does have a bit more natural bulk, and with EV investments in HP and all the resistances Dragon typing provides, I can switch it in a bit more confidently. But what Zekrom really does well is set up a sub on something it resists, set up with Hone Claws, and do as much damage as it can. Electric and Dragon isn't perfect coverage, but it's still does a lot whilst being resisted by little. Bolt Strike is just scary good, and after the Hone Claws boost I can spam it without having to worry about it missing as much. I chose Outrage over Dragon Claw for the extra power, despite being locked in and risking confusion. I've 6-0'ed teams with this thing on lower end of the ladder, so I can only imagine what it's capable of if I was ranked any higher.
Blaziken-Mega (M) @ Blazikenite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Flare Blitz
- Low Kick/High Jump Kick
As if Blaziken wasn't already good enough after getting Speed Boost, and Game Freak gave it a Mega Evolution to make it better. So I decided to take full advantage of that. On the occasion that I can get off a Swords Dance, Mega Blaziken is unstoppable. Knock Off hits most everything for a decent amount of damage, helping me with threats like Lustrous Orb/AV Palkia. Flare Blitz is the typical Fire STAB, and if Groudon's sun is still up I can really do a number on even the bulkiest of Pokemon. Low Kick is nice since it's accurate most standard Ubers are pretty heavy, but I may still end up opting for High Jump Kick.
Groudon @ Lum Berry/Leftovers
Ability: Drought
EVs: 248 HP / 212 Def / 48 Spd
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
You may have seen the strange EV spread of this Groudon before: I decided to try this spread out, and it hasn't let me down yet. Otherwise, this is your standard support Groudon, and my physical wall. Earthquake is for STAB and Stone Edge is for coverage, especially against Ho-oh and the MegaZards (which I did not expect to see a lot of in this tier). Stealth Rocks for hazards and Roar for phasing, which is not only my main tactic against E-killer and other Mega Blaziken, but helps me whittle down bulkier Pokemon by having them constantly switch in and out on Rocks.
Yveltal @ Dread Plate
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 32 Atk / 252 SAtk / 224 Spd
Mild Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Oblivion Wing
- Sucker Punch
- Roost/Taunt/Toxic
A spread I actually found on these very forums (thanks Fireburn), Yveltal is somewhat of a check to many of the threats on the tier, as well as a late-game sweeper at times. It takes hit a lot better than I would've expected, and it's quickly become one of my favorites to use. Dark Pulse does ridiculous amounts of damage with STAB, Dark Aura, and Dread Plate. Sucker Punch gives me priority and helps me clean up, still doing massive amounts of damage even with only 32 EVs in Attack. Oblivion Wing gives me a Flying STAB and provides me with more survivability. Roost keeps me alive as well, but I realize that I seldom use it, so I may replace it with Taunt or Toxic to help me cripple and break down walls and tanks in this tier.
Aegislash (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Atk / 172 SDef
Careful Nature
- King's Shield
- Iron Head
- Shadow Sneak
- Swords Dance
I originally made this thing for one purpose and one purpose only: Xerneas. Without it, Xerneas would be more than just a threat; even without Geomancy, that thing would easily wreck my team. 172 EVs in Special Defense and Careful nature ensures that I can live +2 Fairy Aura-boosted Moonblast's easily while setting up with Swords Dance and eventually retaliating with Iron Head. Aside from that, Aegislash became my special wall as well, tanking hits, denting teams with SD boosted Shadow Sneaks, and even crippling physical attackers effectively with King's Shield.
Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Download
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature
- U-turn
- Ice Beam
- Iron Head
- Sleep Talk
As mentioned above, I play OU a lot on PO, and since this beast of a cyborg insect isn't banned to Ubers there, I take a lot of pride in being able to break down teams with Banded ExtremeSpeed Genesect before sweeping with something else. Since I started playing more and more in Showdown, Genesect continues to be a competitive favorite: it's versatility and power makes it a strong addition to any team, in my opinion. Choice Scarf with Hasty nature allows me to outspeed most of the faster Pokemon in the Ubers tier, as well as threats such as Scarfed Kyogre, which I see quite commonly. U-turn is for STAB and scouting, usually OHKOing Deoxys or bringing it down to it's Focus Sash is I get the Attack boost from Download. Ice Beam is for coverage, since I lack an Ice type move elsewhere on my team. Iron Head is for Xerneas, is the case that I somehow lose Aegislash. I can bring Genesect in knowing it can take at least one Moonblast, get the Attack boost, and finish Xerneas off. Sleep Talk allows Genesect to also become my Darkrai check, usually being able to OHKO it if I get U-turn.
THREATS (that I know of so far)
Assault Vest, Lustrous Orb, or whatever other set is up there, I usually end up having to sack something in order to bring out Yveltal to try and defeat it with a Sucker Punch if it's already been weakened. Aegislash would do pretty well against it, except Fire Blast is a pain, and Spacial Rend and Hydro Pump usually do enough to 2HKO me anyways.
If this thing is Choice Scarf, I'm in for a bad time. If this thing is Choice Specs, then I'm already screwed. Both Physically and Specially Defensive Kyogre can be a pain too, even if I try to hit it with a boosted Bolt Strike, as it most likely lives the hit and phases me out or burns me with a Scald.
That's the team! Please feel free to leave any suggestions, and I'll take them into consideration. Thanks!
