You finally look like something might go your way, so without even bothering to weaken Spinarak you just chuck balls at it, and fortunately for you the Sport Ball manages it. Well done.

Nature: Brave (+Atk; Speed/1.15, -10 EVA)
Type: Bug/Poison
Bug: Bug STAB; More mobility in dense brush or forest conditions. Gain an extra guaranteed attack on multi-hit moves.
Poison: Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic, see and breath through smog/smokescreens/haze uninhibited. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus. Superior senses in urban settings.

Abilities:
Swarm: (Innate) When this Pokemon’s HP is lower than 33% (flat), the Base Attack Power of any Bug-typed attack is increased by 2. (eg Silver Wind goes from 6 to 8, X-Scissor from 8 to 10)
Insomnia: (Innate) This Pokemon is immune to sleep induced by other Pokemon. It's normal state of sleeplessness makes it take 1 less damage and energy/action from Ghost Curse. If it is put to sleep by a Pokemon with Mold Breaker it will wake up the next action. If a Pokemon with Insomnia also has Vital Spirit, its accuracy is raised by one (1) stage permanently.
Sniper (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon has deadly accuracy and strikes sensitive points, increasing its critical hit bonus from +3 to +5 on single attacks, +2 to +3 on two-hit attacks, and +1 to +2 on multi-hit attacks.

You leave the forest and come to the mouth of the cove. It appears to be low tide, as two rock paths barely sticking up out of the water are the only way in. Their winding nature makes them look like long whiskers. Looking closely at the water, you can tell it is slightly illuminated, though you don't know why. In any case, it looks like you won't be able to cross without some resistance.

A voice speaks: "Welcome to a nest. What these Pokemon lack in strength they make up for in numbers. Plan carefully."

And so we're back to that lovely triples format that we all know and love from TLR. So anyway, the battle starts off well, because Bugoff's Mold Breaker means that all three Tynamo take a heavy hit from the Earthquake, despite their standard levitating powers, and all they can do in return is take a reasonably weak shot at Bugoff, not even paralysing him. Then, as Bugoff rests after his previous exertions, the Tynamo repeat their ganging up on him, Sirius mashes one with a meteor and Tzeentch casts a weird spell on Bugoff, healing him somehow.

You've come up against three Pokemon with your two, and it looks bad for you. They are just hammering away at Poli-chan, your only Pokemon left from the ones you brought in, and in fact after Poli-chan tries and finally succeeds (just: 59/100) to hit someone with Hypnosis, the other two hammer away at Poli-chan, paralysing him, before Vocal Spectrum mentally attacks the other Tynamo, stopping it in its tracks. However, the first Tynamo then wakes up and this time attacks Vocal Spectrum, before your two Pokemon do whatever badassery you decided was best.

All three Tynamo: Spark (Tzeentch) * 2
IF Tzeentch faints, target Bugoff from then on

We're back, and it looks like it might finally be time for you to lose a Pokemon! However, the battle is started by your Pokemon, and Sirius mashes the first Tynamo, raising his attack, and Bugoff launches a giant Rock Slide from nowhere, flinching one of the three Tynamo. However, the remaining two then launch themselves at Tzeentch, not quite knocking him out but paralysing him nonetheless. Then, Tzeentch launches a confusing attack at the first Tynamo, hurting him but not KOing him and leaving them all safe for next round. Then, all three of your Pokemon switch tactics and just chill, while the Tynamo finish off Tzeentch and then move over to Bugoff, paralysing him and hurting him all the while. This leaves you in a worse position than last time, and with all of your opponents finally getting a KO, you could be in trouble in the future. What do you do?

All three Tynamo: Charge Beam * 2 @ Bugoff

Tynamo A: Spark @ Vocal Spectrum * 2
Magikarp: Bounce + Bounce Vocal Spectrum ~ Chill
Tynamo B: Charge Beam @ Vocal Spectrum * 2

Basically, you're buggered. Your Pokemon repeatedly burrow underground, trying to come up under the two Tynamo, but they levitate away and render your attacks useless. However, your opponents do not rest, absolutely ravaging Vocal Spectrum, and leaving Poli-chan very battered and bruised and Vocal Spectrum out cold. Good luck going in to next round: you'll need it.

You're down to your last three Pokemon, but they clearly have these irritating little fish outmatched. In fact, to begin with Kitsonuh rushes over and protects Bugoff from all of their attacks, so that when the Tynamo try to attack him they just bounce off the shield, doing nothing. Then, Greed uses Leech Life to try to regain some health, before Bugoff is parahaxed and does nothing. Then, Kitsonuh hits the second Tynamo with a powerful and fast blow, causing him to flinch, but the other two Tynamo easily get a few hits in on Bugoff, but not enough to stop him just barely knocking out the first Tynamo as Greed once again saps life from Tynamo 2.

So with the option to chuck Pokeballs not available, Poli-chan just does a weird Rain Dance, which leaves him collapsing from exhaustion, unable to continue to fight. This leaves you without Pokemon, so all you can do is run back, as fast as you can, hoping that you can get out of the forest with your hide in tact. Fortunately, you manage, and as the voice tells you one final time to come deeper in to the forest, you think to yourself that you will have to come back some day to investigate the cave. Better luck then!

Tynamo B: Charge Beam + Charge Beam (Bugoff)
Tynamo C: Charge Beam (Bugoff) ~ Charge Beam (Bugoff)

You can vaguely hear the sound of someone running quickly back to the clearing you came from, chased by a couple of crazy Tynamo, but slowly it dies out and you get to a weird silence you didn't know you were lacking before this. Nonetheless, Sirius gets up and starts attacking, but then both Tynamo start pounding Bugoff, doing a great deal to it quickly, before Bugoff and Sirius both attack and finish off one Tynamo and hurt the other. Then, the one remaining Tynamo attacks once more before you almost finish it off, ready for a last round. Will you try to catch the Tynamo.

Once you get through the maw, you find a large underground cave that appears to be a dead end. The area's rocky surface drops into what appears to be a very shallow lake, insufficient for swimming. You turn to your guide, who disappears in a flash of light. The guide's form is gone, but you hear another voice.

"You have been chosen to undergo the test. I hope you have prepared well - the Guardians of this cove are a crafty duo. Do not think mere force alone will be sufficient. They will wait calmly and exploit any flaws in your strategy. Pass this trial, and have a chance at something truly amazing."

Things are going well for you, but this looks like your first real challenge, as two decent Pokemon go up against some of your newly caught babies from the forest. In fact, they gang up on Greed, but fortunately a giant punch from Metang misses, so while Eelektross starts making up for lost time at Nincada, your Pokemon just start bashing Metang, trying to stop it unleashing those damn punches: Sirius misses, but Nincada flings some mud at it, which unfortunately doesn't lower his accuracy, and finally Armstrong hits him with electricity, paralysing him.

So this round you manage by going second to regain the upper hand, neutering Metang very effectively with Sirius, before Armstrong tackles Metang with electricity and Greed tries to Leech Life out of Eelektross, before Eelektross responds with a great Thunderbolt at Sirius, shocking him because he hadn't yet been hit this TLR. Then, everyone repeats, with Sirius Chilling, Armstrong bashing Metang again and Greed slapping Metang with Mud once again, before Eelektross unleashes another bolt of lightning hurting but not paralysing Sirius.

Sirius Imprison @ Metang: 8 Energy
Armstrong Spark @ Metang: 4 Energy, 7 Damage
Greed Leech Life @ Eelektross: 8 Energy, 9 Damage, 5 Healing
Eelektross Thunderbolt @ Sirius: 6 Energy, 15 Damage

Metang: Bullet Punch (Greed) ~ Zen Headbutt (Tynamo)
IF Parahax A1, use BP (Greed) A2 instead
Eelektross: Hidden Power (Greed) ~ Hidden Power (Greed)
IF Greed Faints, use Thunderbolt (Tynamo) from then on

And so finally you have to resign yourself to losing another one of your team members, as Metang punches Greed quickly and Eelektross finishes him off with another great Hidden Power attack. However, he still gets an attack in, which does not do enough to save him, and Sirius does a sneak attack at Metang, before finally Tynamo zaps Metang with a weak jolt of electricity, paralysing him again. Then, with Greed out cold, the other two Pokemon focus on Armstrong, who can only respond with another weak tackle at Metang, while Sirius gets kind of confused and protects himself from a predicted attack.

Sirius Shadow Sneak @ Metang: 2 Energy, 9 Damage
Metang Bullet Punch @ Greed: 2 Energy, 9 Damage
Armstrong Thunder Wave @ Metang: 6 Energy
Greed Leech Life @ Eelektross: 8 Energy, 9 Damage, 5 Healing
Eelektross Hidden Power @ Greed: 5 Energy, 17 Damage

Sirius Protect: 7 Energy
Tynamo Spark @ Metang: 4 Energy, 7 Damage
Metang Zen Headbutt @ Armstrong: 5 Energy, 14 Damage
Eelektross Thunderbolt @ Armstrong: 6 Energy, 10 Damage
