Hi again. Well as you may know, not too long ago I posted a RMT of a sun team that "easily" got me to rank 2. I still think the team had a lot to improve, since certain MU seemed impossible. Then I started testing and testing, many mistakes that took me back to 1600 lol. But again, I finally hit the perfect missing pokemon and made minor adjustments that have made this team work insanely well. :boi:

In this case, I did not really pay attention to the peak, since it is an improvement of a team that got to +2030 elo
1738873947241.jpeg
, but in the many replays I have brought you can see some top 10 matches etc. The team makes me comfortably sit between 1850 and 2000 elo OU, as most of the replays show. (edit: this is now the highest peak recorded for the new version
1000036043.jpg
.
. The team has proved to be more solid and has increased my gxe a 6% so let's go with the analysis, since there are major changes.

Team description:

1738811431592.png

Ninetales over Torkoal for its healing wish, faster wisp and encore. I have been using several varieties of this set, all of them work. Use the one that adapts more to yourself. Tera grass for better ogerpon mu, ghost for better Zama / Dnite mu. The Fire type move depends totally on your preferences.

Queen (Ninetales) (F) @ Heat Rock
Ability: Drought
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Grass/Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Weather Ball/Flamethrower/Overheat
- Encore
- Healing Wish
- Will-O-Wisp

1738811592774.png

Hatterene is one of the major changes. It used to be an eject batton pivot, but now it works more as a possible win condition, that is crucial to beat teams bassed on tera water garganacle. Psychic noise is better for gliscor MU, but psyshock is crucial if you want to make sure you don't lose to water tera blissey stalls. If Garg is not a problem for you, then run lefts or rocky helmet. Steel tera as well as water are good overall, but flying can help a lot vs heavy ground MU, since we lack a ground inmunity, and mostly, a tusk real answer.

Irene (Hatterene) @ Cover Cloak/Leftovers/Rocky Helmet
Ability: Magic Bounce
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Steel/Water/Flying
EVs: 252 HP / 204 Def / 52 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Mystical Fire
- Psyshock/Psychic noise
- Draining Kiss
- Calm Mind

1738812081467.png

The new addition, and clearly the biggest improvement. We used to have problems with Dragonite, Roaring moon and kyurem dd, now those problems are almost solved. Scizor came as an idea because raging bolt was performing pretty bad now that people knew the team. After all, it was the biggest surprise factor of the team. The Steel bug typing adds more flexibility against fairies and dragons. Scizor kills a lot of things that are trying to sweep with its cb bp, and it also works as a slow pivot when needed. Tera must always be Steel. Evs can be the first option to outrun Adamant full speed gambit, but the other option has worked better for me, taking some crucial hits. U turn and Bp are mandatory, but you can choose between the other 2. CC helps killing steel types. Knock is knock, and dual wb has performed amazingly for me, since it can 1 hko araquanid, it kills offensive tusks and some variants of sinistcha aswell.

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spe or 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
Tera Type: Steel
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Knock Off / Dual Wingbeat
- Close Combat / Dual Wingbeat

1738812534733.png

He is just Tusk, I have tested a lot with new teras, ghost being pretty good. For move choices, I have tested bulk up rapid spin + 2 attacks with great results. It is up to you if you want to run Rapid spin + 3 attacks or a bulk up set. It will work either way, and sometimes even Bulk up + 3 attacks without Spin works crazy well.

Don (Great Tusk) @ Rocky Helmet/Heavy-Dutty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Steel/Fire/Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Headlong Rush
- Ice Spinner / Bulk up
- Rapid Spin / Bulk up
- Temper Flare / Bulk up

1738812793387.png

If it works, don't touch it. AV RM is permorming extremely well. If you run no spin tusk, use it with boots. This crushed many Gholdengo, Darkrai, Iron moth, and many other and works as a fast pivot. Tera steel is still mandatory to deal with valiant or Enamorous, aswell as surprising kyurem. If you feel that this is too niche for you, honestly the banded set can perfectly work, I just like the more tanky version. Brick break is amazing if you struggle in Veil mu, but you lose a lot vs cincerace and raging bolt.

Madara (Roaring Moon) @ Assault Vest/Choice Band
Ability: Protosynthesis
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 32 HP / 220 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Earthquake/Brick Break

1738813092922.png

In my opinion the best fat breaker in the whole generation. It just crushes bulky comps. The moves are perfect, as the tera. Don't touch anything here, or your stall MU will be horrible. Modest to 2hko blissey. This is the most important pokemon apart from ninetales to keep alive.

Aphelios (Walking Wake) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hydro Steam
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Dragon Pulse

Playstyle:

It is a volt-turn sun that tries to bring WW safely, and let it break fat checks for the others to sweep. WW must be played aggresively, don't be afraid of putting him in vs slower pkms. Vs stall, try not to get its specs knocked off, or it's over. Hatt and tusk can put a lot of pressure for stall teams aswell, use it correctly. Vs Balance or BO (your best MU) abuse WW as much as you can, and use scizor to check those late game DD dnites. VS HO, veil requires a lot of thinking, sometimes tera water ww does not let anyone set up even behind light screens. Webs are hard if they get them in. HDB version of tusk, dual wingbeat scizor, and simply CB tera steel scizor can help a lot if webs are putted in, the most easy way to get them in is by using ability swap ribombee. Vs Hazzard stack HO, or just simply offense, analyze the MU, and try to find opportunites to end up cleaning with tusk, scizor, or even hatt. Remember to keep Ninetales alive vs gambits, her encore is crucial. This team must be played agresively, it is not easy to play in many cases and requires a good analysis of the MUs.

Threats:

This time, the team has not clear threats, but I will talk about some pokemon that can be troublesome

1738813724274.png

A well used offensive tusk can be super hard to beat, but you have WW, Tera grass ninetales if needed. your own tusk to weaken it, and draining kiss or psychic noise on hatt will destroy it. Be careful vs this tho.
1738813986897.png

Tera Fire/electric Kyurem with DD can be a huge problem for the team if roaring moon has been removed. Try to cheap dmg this into BP scizor range.

Apart from that, hax can make you insta lose a game. In this team, every turn matters, every sack etc. Missing DM, getting freezed, getting critted, missing wisps, dark pulse flinches... all this will happen to you, try to win even if this occurs, but you will need a miracle many times.

Make sure to check the replays to see this working, it will help you understand the way it should be used:

Pokepaste:

I don't really want you to just pick the team without reading the descriptions, but this is one of the versions I have used. Make sure to test all the options I gave you at the set explanation part, some specific sets such as psychic noice instead of psyshock has worked better for me in many cases, this paste is just a fast way to access to a "sample version of the team", but I'm sure you can adapt it to your playstyle touching some moves. Again, make sure to read the set description part.
https://pokepast.es/a350785b339d50d1

Edit: the amount of times I have found both versions (raging bolt and Scizor ones) makes me very Happy, especially when noticing people are making their own changes and versions of the teams. Guys, we are bringing Sun back to high ladder!! If someone uses this in tournaments, please let me know!!

Thanks for your attention. Enjoy the team!

Congratulations for your team! I'll try to build one of the variants on cartridge.

I don't have recommendations but questions regarding the sets and the match-ups.
hatterene.png

About Hatterene first, It seems Gliscor, Blissey and Garganacl were common. Are these match-ups due to the fact of playing at the top of the ladder against, well, how to put this, relentless opponents? Was the metagame a bit softier when you played aroud 1600?
scizor.png

For Scizor, I watched some replays to get how it helps to outspeed Kingambit. It seems fine in cases it used tera priorly but what about when it hasn't, or even worse: it can tera still. Which situation would you say happened the most? Also, was CC useful for steel-tera foes?
great-tusk.png

Now the Tusk. Have you tested the variations of the set on multiple kinds of match-ups? Is one preferred depending the move-sets of the teammates? Also, it's just a detail but Great Tusk shiny is illegal.:psyangry:
roaring-moon.png

Finally, on the choice between earthquake and brick break for Roaring Moon, isn't quake better suited on most cases? Or is Tusk doing the job with Raging Bolt? Also, do you think putting brick break on Scizor in place of CC could be a good idea? I have doubts since it wouldn't OHKO Kingambit on a 2x effective hit.

Well done again, maybe we'll do a fight with it on MB discord one day!

First of all, thanks!!

Well stall is everywhere. High ladder has Many stall players, so yeah you Will see Many garg, blissey and gliscor.
Regarding Scizor, being faster than gambit is pretty amazing, once It has been a bit weakened, bp kills at a pretty nice range (considering gambit used Tera, Which is pretty common). I think I have uploaded several replays in Which gambit loses to Scizor, they are a nice proof. About CC, It is pretty good, I think It is better than knock for this team. But honestly, the 3 attacks I have used the most are Dual wingbeat, u turn and bp. CC is there for pretty specific scenarios.
About tusk, I just can't decide on the best set. All combinations work, and It is not needed to change anything based on the teammates. If I had to recommend one, 3 attacks + spin. But bulk Up has also won Many games for me, so It is really Up to you.
For Rm, eq is the BEST Choice, but if you feel like screens are really troublesome, or you just want to hit gambit harder, use brick break.
And about bb on Scizor, I would say the same, use It if you feel like you can't Beat screens, but CC is just better.

I Hope this solved some doubts, enjoy!

Thank you for your response!

I haven't seen stall on console, fat balances at most but it surely would help to have a card to play against it just in case.
It was a surprise to see Gambit sent during the middle of the fight of your replays. I'd expect it mainly used as attempts of reversals at the end. I'll go for the fast set for Scizor, so (and pray not going against screens). I just noticed it but as you don't use hazards, knock surely looses of utility.
Sure, earthquake is better for Roaring Moon. It may even help against fire teras.

I'll send you its code once built so you can try it on the server too!

You won't see stall on console, but this team is not specificly designed for It. A good team should be able to Beat stall, while mainteining a good Mu against every other style. That is that hard part of teambuilding
