Welcome all to the quarterfinals! Our winner from 2023, Spain, did not make it past Round 1 this year, but like last year, Europe and US West are entering as first and second seeds, respectively, while we also see the return of Oceania and US Midwest. We also see US Northeast make it back to the playoffs, pulling through the Round 1 tiebreak with a solid 2-0 performance after playing out of relegation last year. Italy also returns, not having made playoffs last year after missing out on qualifying via a post-Round 1 tiebreak to their current quarterfinals opponent—Oceania—and are now seeking redemption and aiming for their second trophy. India, in a similar situation, also missed out qualifying via a post-Round 1 tiebreak in 2023 but are now looking for their first trophy in their inaugural top 8 appearance. Joining India as a newcomer to the top 8 is Chile, who, like US Northeast, played their way in via a tough 3-way Round 1 tiebreak, ultimately knocking out US South, but, unlike the rest, they're the only team who also played through qualifiers this year. Will their fire continue to burn or will it wane? With the most recent trophy from the bunch being Italy's in 2020, and 3 other teams having won at least once, whose drive (and RNG) will push them all the way?

  • Team Abomination Amalgamation Europe. They only exist because they have some incredibly influential and powerful members (Lily, Ruft, etc).
    • Someone made suggestion that Team Europe is unfair and uncompetitive => it's too early to discuss WCOP format
    • Bring it up again few months later => it's too late now. We need to start WCOP. See ya next year. Repeat :blobthumbsup:
  • I will be hate watching and praying for Team Europe downfall, which fortunately happened every year.

SM OU: Larry vs Abele01 - Larry put up a strong performance in pools going 3-0. Mainly profiting off of strong prep and gaining favorable MUs in game and executing well. Abele01 I believe did not play in either qualifiers or pools for SM so might be difficult to target prep against them but nevertheless it makes more sense to pick the person who went undefeated as of right now. But who knows, Chile might surprise everyone again.

SM OU: z0mOG vs bro fist - highlight imo. Bro fist's most recent performance against relous shows that he's slowly getting back to peak form. zomogs team choices were quite similar in pools but i suspect he was deliberately trying to make his scout more one dimensional. Think it'll be hard to predict what either brings here and should be a strong display of play from both sides. Leaning towards bro fist but could go either way.

SM OU: ChrisPBacon vs Empo - bacon put up a impressive 3-0 in pools and is known for his proficiency in piloting bulkier teams and making progress in drawn out games. Unfortunately he's up against the best sm player of all time who is one of if not the best in drawn out games. Empo hasn't exactly been reinventing the wheel with his team choices which he was punished for vs larry but its hard to pick against him here. Wouldn't be surprised to see bacon pull off an upset however if he outpreps in builder.

SM OU: J0RIS vs Tace - Rematch from pools which Tace won the first time. Tace's play has been extremely precise and J0RIS hasn't been that impressive but did put up a strong endgame performance vs soumav. I think it's just hard to pick against the player who went 3-0 in pools and is on a roll. Hopefully India can prove me wrong :)
