Welcome all to the Quarterfinals of this year’s WCoP. After a down-to-the-wire Round 1 that was wide open until the last few games, we now know the 8 teams that will be fighting for the coveted WCoP 2022 trophy. Will Canada and France continue to shock the world after their unexpected, dominating Round 1 performances? Or will it be any of the pre-tournament favorites, US Northeast, Germany, Italy, and US South? Will US Midwest and Oceania be able to translate solid Round 1 showings into their first semifinal appearances ever and since 2011 respectively? Time to find out!

Little history lesson: for the first couple of wcops, Canada were always one of the pre-tour favourites, with a stack of great players like Articuno64, Cloud9x, Vineon, and Skarm. Canada were just generally a pokemon tournament powerhouse back then.

But the World Cup created by Jackal, and so he was cursed so that his team would never win the tournament. And sure enough, Canada have never gotten close to winning. Which is why I am so confident that OCN are gonna knock them out this round.
