Introduction

Have you ever been waiting for a certain tournament to start just so you can play a tier, in a organised way, against skilled players? What if you could signup to a tournament and enter into that tournament within a week, all-year round? Well if you want to play RBY, GSC, ADV, DPP, BW, ORAS and/or SM OU we've got the tournament for you.
The World's Longest OU tournament is inspired by the Smogon Premier League's Farm League. Just like Farm League, players will primarily be matched according to their win records within a tier, based on previous weeks. If only one player has a certain record, they will be grouped with players of the closest higher/lower record. Pairings will be randomised within these record matching groups. A thread will be created for each week's matches. Week matches will be first-to-1-win.

Unlike Farm League, this tournament can potentially go on indefinitely. You can also sign up for any amount of tiers.

To start off with, the tournament will be scheduled to host for an introduction cycle of 4 weeks, followed by the first two full cycles if all goes well.

The Hosting Team (2016-2017)

Tricking / Lutra (Cycle 0: September 11th - October 12th 2016) - Tricking has hosted several Smogon Tours, unofficial tournaments and subforum tournaments such as Live Suspect Tours.
Lutra (Cycle 1: October 12th - November 23rd 2016) - Lutra has hosted lots of very standard tournaments in RBY, such as RBY Cup II (official) and the two RBY OU World Championship tournaments, as well as major all-gen OU RoA tournaments.
Not Troller / Prague Kick / Lutra (Cycle 2: November 23rd - January 22nd 2017) - Not Troller has hosted lots of live tournaments in the italian community and is scheduled to host its national tournament. Prague Kick has hosted a few Smogon Tours, BW ladder tour, as well as much followed major tournaments in italian communities, such as SPL-style and clan-war based team tournaments.
Lutra (Cycle 0.2: January 23rd - February 22nd & Cycle 1.2: February 21st - March 28th)
Cycles (regular and champion)

Records will be reset every 5 or 6 weeks, i.e. at the start of every hosting cycle, to allow for plenty of different pairings. Overall and champion (3 cycle) records, which ignore this reset, will be retained in a spreadsheet however. Hosts will mostly host one regular cycle per year.

Tournament Battles Location

Decisions

Very limited decision making will take place. No activity wins or wins by default will be awarded. Matches will only be replayed if they don't progress from turn 0, if they end in a tie, or at your opponent's discretion.

Joining

To join, simply specify the tiers (RBY OU / GSC OU / ADV OU / DPP OU / BW OU / ORAS OU / SM OU) you wish to compete in, in this thread post in. There are two times per week you can get entered into the tournament at the start of each week (e.g. Sunday), and midweek (e.g. Wednesday). You'll either be paired into a new match or replace a player that has quit. You may post to add tiers in this thread also.

Signing-out
To sign out of this tournament, post in the signouts thread, where you can also state tiers you wish to drop. If your match from the previous week is unplayed and you didn't post in that week's thread, you will be removed from the pairings for the current week and will have to sign up again for the next week.
Rewards
Temporary silver banners will each be awarded to those with the highest number of wins in a tier for the last completed cycle (they will expire after ~6 weeks if no replacement).

Additional temporary
gold banners will each be given to those with the highest number of wins in a tier for the champion cycle (3 cycles).

Tie break first-to-2-wins (bo3s excluding ties) will occur in the event of any ties for top records (highest wins).

You can qualify for a top cycle record tie-break if you were present, but didn't play in week 1, and have 1 less win and the same number of losses (usually 0) compared to other silver banner contenders.

Weeks will start around 08:00AM EDT on Sundays.
