[SET COMMENTS]
Thievul is a deadly wallbreaker thanks to the combination of Choice Specs and Stakeout. Psychic OHKOes Fighting-types such as Sawk, Gurdurr, and Poliwrath with a Stakeout boost and serves as its strongest move for Fairy-types such as Alcremie and Clefairy. Despite its low base power, Burning Jealousy is Thievul's strongest option for Dark-types such as Skuntank, Shiftry, and Alolan Persian and lets Thievul force out some special walls like Frosmoth and Ferroseed. Knock Off is an alternative that cripples Eviolite-reliant walls such as Clefairy and Type: Null, letting Thievul beat them later with its other moves.

Thievul works best on offensive teams looking for a very powerful special wallbreaker. Physical wallbreakers such as Basculin, Centiskorch, and Silvally-Ground can force in physical walls such as Qwilfish, Garbodor, and Uxie, giving Thievul an opportunity to switch in. These partners can also break through specially defensive Pokemon that give Thievul a hard time, such as Clefairy, Audino, and Alcremie. Since Fairy-, Dark-, and Fighting-types such as Clefairy, Silvally-Dark, and Sawk threaten Thievul, checks to these types, such as Centiskorch, Gurdurr, and Rotom-S, are appreciated. VoltTurn users such as Wishiwashi, Uxie, Rotom-S, and Silvally-Ground create opportunities for Thievul to activate Stakeout. Due to Thievul's average Speed tier, it struggles versus more offensive teams; therefore, fast Pokemon such as Cinccino and Choice Scarf Sawk make for great partners.

[SET COMMENTS]
Grassy Seed Thievul is a niche sweeper on Grassy Terrain teams that faces competition with other sweepers like Swoobat. Thanks to the combination of Grassy Seed and Unburden, Thievul can instantly boost its Defense and Speed in Grassy Terrain, making it harder to revenge kill and letting it more easily set up a Nasty Plot to clean. After a Nasty Plot, Psychic OHKOes Fighting-types such as Gurdurr, Sawk, and Poliwrath. Grass Knot gets boosted by Grassy Terrain and lets Thievul break through bulky Pokemon such as Piloswine, Rhydon, and Silvally-Dark at +2. Alternatively, Burning Jealousy is more reliable against opposing Dark-types like Shiftry and Skuntank, which can take Thievul's other moves.

Grassy Seed Thievul exclusively fits on Grassy Terrain teams and requires Thwackey's Grassy Terrain support to function. Wallbreakers on Grassy Terrain teams such as Gourgeist-S, Trevenant, and Flapple also appreciate Thwackey's support, and they bring in physical walls that Thievul can set up on and force out. Special wallbreakers such as Rotom and Basculin are also great fits for Grassy Terrain teams and can weaken special walls such as Clefairy, Audino, and Ferroseed to let Thievul sweep in the late-game.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Thievul can also be ran on Electric Terrain teams with Electric Seed over Grassy Seed, although the archetype is less effective than Grassy Terrain teams. Thievul can use the combination of Throat Spray + Snarl or Sitrus Berry + Substitute to activate Unburden; however, these sets need several turns to set up and are often not worth using. Hyper Beam is Thievul's strongest move and an option on both sets to nuke Dark- and Fairy-types such as Silvally-Dark and Alcremie, but it is exploitable and gives the foe a free turn, and Thievul can outspeed and 2HKO most of these threats with its other moves. A Timid nature can be used on the Choice Specs set to give Thievul a better matchup against more offensive teams; however, a Modest nature lets Thievul break through special walls like Audino, Eviolite-less Clefairy, and Wishiwashi with a boost from Stakeout.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Thanks to their great special bulk and resistance to Thievul's STAB moves, Fairy-types such as Carbink, Alcremie, and Clefairy easily wall Thievul, even if non-specially defensive variants of them have to watch out for Stakeout-boosted Psychic.

**Dark-types**: Dark-types such as Skuntank, Silvally-Dark, and Shiftry tank Dark Pulse and Psychic and threaten Thievul. However, they aren't extremely reliable, as they still take heavy damage from Stakeout-boosted moves and Nasty Plot-boosted Burning Jealousy.

**Fighting-types**: Without a Stakeout or Nasty Plot boost, Thievul fails to OHKO Fighting-types such as Poliwrath, Gurdurr, and Throh, which can take it out.

**Faster Attackers**: Due to its mediocre bulk, Choice Specs Thievul is forced out by faster attackers such as Silvally-Ground, Sawk, and Kangaskhan.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Without a Stakeout or Nasty Plot boost, specially defensive walls such as Audino, Wishiwashi, and Cryogonal can easily wall Thievul. However, Thievul can 2HKO them with its Stakeout- or Nasty Plot-boosted moves, so they have to be played carefully.

Knock Off is an alternative that cripples Eviolite reliant walls such as Clefairy and Type:Null, letting it beat them later with its other moves. Modest is the prefered nature, despite making Thievul slower than several offensive Pokemon such as Skuntank, Vanilluxe, and Sawk, because it lets Thievul break through special walls such as Audino, Knocked Off Clefairy, and Wishiwashi. Also without the Modest nature, Thievul is quite weak against foes that don't switch out, so the bonus in power in enjoyed. (fluff, you dont have to explain standard max max spreads / natures; you can mention why Modest in OO when you discuss an alternative Timid nature but keep it brief)

**Fairy-types**: Thanks to their great special bulk and resistances to Thievul's STAB moves, Fairy-types such as Carbink, Alcremie, and Clefairy can easily wall Thievul, even if non-specially (AH) defensive variants of them have to watch out for Stakeout-boosted Psychic.

**Dark-types**: Dark-types such as Skuntank, Silvally-Dark, and Shiftry resist Dark Pulse and Psychic and can threaten Thievul. However, they aren't extremely reliable as they still take heavy damage from Stakeout-boosted moves and Nasty Plot-boosted (AH) Burning Jealousy.

**Fighting-types**: Without a Stakeout or Nasty Plot boost, Thievul fails to OHKO Fighting-types such as Poliwrath, Gurdurr, and Throh that can take out Thievul with their super effective STAB moves.

**Faster Attackers**: Due to its mediocre bulk, Choice Specs Thievul is forced out by most faster attackers such as Silvally-Ground, Sawk, and Lycanroc.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Without a Stakeout or Nasty Plot boost, Thievul is weak, thus specially defensive walls such as Audino, Wishiwashi, and Cryogonal can easily wall it. However, Thievul can 2HKO them with its Stakeout- (AH) or Nasty Plot-boosted (AH) moves, so they have to be played carefully.

[SET COMMENTS]
Thievul is a deadly wallbreaker thanks to the combination of Choice Specs and Stakeout. Psychic lets Thievul OHKO Fighting-types such as Sawk, Gurdurr, and Poliwrath with Stakeout as well as being its strongest move for Fairy-types such as Alcremie and Clefairy. Despite its low base power, Burning Jealousy is Thievul's strongest option for Dark-types such as Skuntank, Shiftry, and Alolan Persian and lets Thievul force out some special walls like Frosmoth and Ferroseed. Knock Off is an alternative that cripples Eviolite-reliant walls such as Clefairy and Type: Null, letting it Thievul beat them later with its other moves.

Thievul works best on offensive teams looking for a very powerful special wallbreaker. Physical wallbreakers such as Basculin, Centiskorch, and Sillvaly-Ground can force physical walls such as Qwilfish, Garbodor, and Uxie in, giving Thievul a switch-in (hyphen) opportunity, setting up Stakeout to get a KO, or severely weakening the physical wall in the range of Thievul's partners (Fluff; keep it to a switch-in, and the aspects I removed are expected for a wallbreaker in this position). On the other hand, these partners can break through specially defensive Pokemon such as Clefairy, Audino, and Alcremie that give Thievul a hard time. Since Fairy-, Dark-, and Fighting-types such as Clefairy, Silvally-Dark, and Sawk threaten Thievul, checks to these types such as Magneton, Gurdurr, and Rotom-S, are appreciated. VoltTurn users such as Wishiwashi, Uxie, Rotom-S, and Silvally-Ground can create opportunities to set up procure Stakeout for Thievul (Stakeout isn't a setup move, so procure is more fitting). Due to Thievul's average Speed tier, it struggles versus more offensive teams, therefore fast partners such as Cinccino and Choice Scarf Sawk make for great partners.

[SET COMMENTS]
Grassy Seed Thievul is a niche sweeper for Grassy Terrain teams facing competition from other sweepers, namely Swoobat. Thanks to the combination of Grassy Seed and Unburden, Thievul can instantly get its Defense and Speed bolstered if Grassy Terrain is up, making it harder to revenge kill and letting it more easily set up a Nasty Plot to clean. After a Nasty Plot, Psychic lets Thievul OHKO Fighting-types such as Gurdurr, Sawk, and Poliwrath. Grass Knot gets boosted by Grassy Terrain and lets Thievul breakthrough bulky Pokemon at +2 such as Piloswine, Rhydon, and Silvally-Dark. However, (comma) Burning Jealousy is more reliable versus other Dark-types such as Shiftry and Skuntank that don't mind Thievul's other moves.

Thievul exclusively fits on Grassy Terrain teams and requires Thwackey's Grassy Terrain support to work. Grassy Terrain wallbreakers such as Gourgeist-S, Trevenant, and Flapple also appreciate Thwackey's support while bringing in physical walls which Thievul can set up on since it forces them out. Special wallbreakers such as Magneton and Clawitzer are also great fits for Grassy Terrain teams and can weaken special walls such as Clefairy, Audino, and Cryogonal Ferroseed (more relevant wall on VR + in regards to the examples) so Thievul can sweep later.

(Mention first that Thievul can be ran on Electric Terrain teams with Electric Seed, although that playstyle is less effective than Grassy Terrain) Thievul can use the combination of Throat Spray + Snarl or Sitrus Berry + Substitute to activate Unburden; however, these sets need several turns to set up and are often not worth using. Hyper Beam is Thievul's strongest move and an option on both sets that can nuke Dark- and Fairy-types such as Silvally-Dark and Alcremie, but it can be taken advantage of because it gives the foe a free turn and Thievul can 2HKO and outspeed most of these threats with its other moves. A Timid nature can be used on the Choice Specs set to give it a better matchup against more offensive teams; however, without a Modest nature, Thievul struggles to force foes out, as it's pretty weak without the Stakeout boost and a Modest nature lets Thievul break through special walls like Audino, and Clefairy after if its item is removed, and Wishiwashi with Stakeout.
