Project Threats to OU Cores v2: Round 72: Mega Charizard X + Ash-Greninja

Status
Not open for further replies.
Highlights
Mega-Medicham
- Pretty simple, outspeed and hit incredibly hard, though it is difficult to switch in, if brought in with VoltTurn or on the double, a Fake Out and High Jump Kick will KO both. Ice Punch can be run over Thunder or Bullet Punch to KO Zygarde with perfect accuracy and no potential recoil. nubzie
Tapu Lele - Once again Tapu Lele finds itself in the highlights, +1 Shattered Psyche in terrain is actually a guaranteed OHKO on Scizor which is phenomenal power, blocking priority for itself and teammates is also great. Felixx
Creative
Greninja
- Hidden Power [Fire] is a great move on Greninja and Waterium Z is very underprepped for. curiosity
Not Archived
Silvally-Bug
- Not a mon, not a set. I admire the work that went into this post tho lmao stuuful12
Tyranitar - This is a cool set for sure, but as you said: this is a lure, so by nature it is catered to the core too much to be a more general threat for my liking. micahclay

Week 8 Core - Pelipper + Mega-Swampert

This is an extremely common core on the lower ladder that also sees fair success in tournaments and high ladder too. The premise is simple, Pelipper sets rain with its ability Drizzle, which doubles Mega-Swampert's Speed thanks to Swift Swim. The partnership between these two goes further than this however. Swampert has a great offensive typing in Water/Ground, which also allows it to pivot into the Electric-types Pelipper invites in, in return Pelipper takes on Charizard Y and Keldeo, both of which create problems for Swampert. Pelipper also provides a slow U-Turn, which alongside its decent defenses can bring Swampert in safely while easing prediction and can Defog away pesky hazards, particularly both Spikes and Toxic Spikes that Swampert is very vulneranble too.
Pelipper @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 32 Def / 228 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- U-turn
- Roost
- Defog

Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Superpower

As always, all postings are appreciated! But please, only post OU viable Pokémon and do not post sets specifically catered to this core, your threat should not be complete deadweight against teams that do not feature Pelipert.

At the end of the week I will archive viable threats, post a new core and highlight threats that are particularly creative or effective! I'll also try and explain why I didn't include any threats in the archive, if applicable.

Time to be creative, reserving Alolan Ninetales

1524530935730.png

Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Aurora Veil
- Freeze-Dry
- Hypnosis
- Hail

Ninetales is an interesting mon in that it not only is very capable of doing massive damage to the core via Freeze-Dry, but thanks to Snow-Warning, it can even circumvent Rain making it harder for the Rain team to function. Not only that, but thanks to Aurora Veil and Hail, it can put a damper on the amount of damage this core can do, and allow another mon to precede to setup all over the core. It also outspeeds both mons after Rain is removed and can put both into priority range, which the HOs that Ninetales finds itself on have no shortage of. If your into gambling, you can even try to put one of the members of this core to sleep to make it easier to smash through and set up veil afterwards. Of course, one must not forget that Ninetales is not capable of OHKOing both members without near maximum special attack investment, so keep that in mind

8 SpA Ninetales-Alola Freeze-Dry vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Swampert-Mega: 232-280 (68 - 82.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after hail damage
8 SpA Ninetales-Alola Freeze-Dry vs. 248 HP / 228 SpD Pelipper: 264-312 (81.7 - 96.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Tapu Bulu @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 60 Atk / 68 Def / 64 SpD / 68 Spe OR 248 HP / 56 Atk / 60 SpD / 144 Spe
Impish / Adamant Nature
- Horn Leech
- Wood Hammer
- Superpower
- Nature's Madness

Rain has always had issues with bulky grasses, and AV Bulu is no exception, as even burned wood hammers do massive overkill damage to megapert, and threatens to OHKO pelipper after the rocks it is meant to remove, while pert can't do much back except fail to ko with Ice Punch and pelipper can only spread burns which don't even stop bulu from 2v1ing the core, especially if it tanks a wood hammer in the process. Only way it can actually beat bulu is if its specs hurricane which is obviously not what's being used here.

The first spread looks a bit wonky but has the benefit of eliminating the roll for pert's Ice Punch to 2hko with an impish nature, meaning you have a guaranteed switchin assuming no hazards, although the analysis spread is perfectly usable here.

60 Atk burned Tapu Bulu Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Swampert-Mega in Grassy Terrain: 468-552 (137.2 - 161.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
60 Atk burned Tapu Bulu Horn Leech vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Swampert-Mega in Grassy Terrain: 296-350 (86.8 - 102.6%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Grassy Terrain recovery

252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Ice Punch vs. 248 HP / 68+ Def Tapu Bulu: 152-180 (44.3 - 52.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

60 Atk Tapu Bulu Wood Hammer vs. 248 HP / 32+ Def Pelipper in Grassy Terrain: 225-265 (69.6 - 82%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
60 Atk burned Tapu Bulu Wood Hammer vs. 248 HP / 32+ Def Pelipper in Grassy Terrain: 112-132 (34.6 - 40.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

0 SpA Pelipper Scald vs. 248 HP / 80 SpD Assault Vest Tapu Bulu in Rain: 40-48 (11.6 - 13.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 248 HP / 144 SpD / 100 Def / 16 Spe
Calm / Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Leech Seed / Hidden Power Fire / Earthquake

When Pelipper drops Hurricane, the Grass-types come out to play. The 100 Def given here ensures the 3HKO from MegaPert's EQ without risking the matchup against Ash-Gren, but the standard 88 Def works just as well unless you're meteorically unlucky. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

0 SpA Venusaur-Mega Sludge Bomb vs. 248 HP / 228 SpD Pelipper: 117-138 (36.2 - 42.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 88 Def Venusaur-Mega: 156-184 (42.9 - 50.6%) -- 2% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 100 Def Venusaur-Mega: 153-181 (42.1 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Venusaur-Mega Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Swampert-Mega: 352-420 (103.2 - 123.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Reserving mantine

Mantine @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 52 Def / 208 SpD
Calm Nature
- Roost
- Scald
- Defog
- Toxic / Haze
Mantine can't be touched by pelipper and swampert's ice punch does max 39 while you can fish for burns / toxic it, haze helps vs PuP variants and in general can be prefeared for some mu like subswarm volcarona, it also cen reliably check specs pelipper if rocks aren't up
252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Ice Punch vs. 248 HP / 52 Def Mantine: 125-148 (33.5 - 39.6%) -- 23.6% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Mantine Scald vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Swampert-Mega in Rain: 100-118 (29.3 - 34.6%) -- 7.3% chance to 3HKO

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 204 Def / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Defog

Standard OU set which can switch directly into both. OHKOs Pelipper and burns Swampert

0 SpA Pelipper Scald vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash in Rain: 59-69 (19.4 - 22.7%) -- possible 5HKO
0 SpA Rotom-Wash Volt Switch vs. 248 HP / 228 SpD Pelipper: 324-384 (100.3 - 118.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Swampert-Mega Waterfall vs. 248 HP / 204+ Def Rotom-Wash in Rain: 78-93 (25.7 - 30.6%) -- 4.2% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Reserving Mega Alakazam

Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball

Under rain, Mega Swampert outspeeds the majority of the unboosted metagame and even a lot of the scarfers, thanks to its ability Swift Swim. Mega Alakazam exploits this by copying Swift Swim with Trace, hitting a whopping 876 speed under rain, outspeeding both pokemon (and literally the entire tier) and threatening Pelipper with a Psychic and Mega Swampert with an Energy Ball.

252 SpA Alakazam-Mega Psychic vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Pelipper: 246-289 (94.2 - 110.7%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Alakazam-Mega Psychic vs. 248 HP / 228 SpD Pelipper: 186-220 (57.5 - 68.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Alakazam-Mega Energy Ball vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Swampert-Mega: 452-536 (132.5 - 157.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Latios @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Energy Ball / Trick
Latios can 2HKO both members of this core as well as outspeeding both even in rain. It can also switch into both members, but this isn’t really recommended. Energy Ball is a decent option if you are really weak to Swampert, but usually Trick is better.

Alomomololomomomola

Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 40 HP / 216 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic
- Wish
- Protect

Alomomola can badly poison both Pelipper and mega Swampert and then just stall them out with wish+protect.

252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Earthquake vs. 40 HP / 216+ Def Alomomola: 171-202 (35.5 - 41.9%) -- 87.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

charizard-mega-y.gif

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Air Slash
- Roost

Mah boi Charizard Y:
A fine mon that is pretty good here because it stop rain
It just stop M-Swampert with solar beam and the sun and can wear down Pelliper as the fight get's longer

Pelipper

Pelipper @ Damp Rock
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 32 Def / 228 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- U-turn
- Roost
- Defog

Edit: Was on mobile, so here is a more detailed description.
252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Waterfall vs. 248 HP / 32+ Def Pelipper in Rain: 105-124 (32.5 - 38.3%) -- 98.4% chance to 3HKO
Ice Punch does less than Waterfall in rain. So you can roost off the damage easily meanwhile you can fish for burns which absolutely cripples Pert.
0 SpA Pelipper Scald vs. 248 HP / 228 SpD Pelipper in Rain: 63-75 (19.5 - 23.2%) -- possible 5HKO
So similarly you aren't going to be harmed by Pelipper although you can't touch it either apart from fishing for a burn to slightly chip it, but you can run 30 IV Speed to underspeed it and do a nice slow U-turn to pivot in something like Koko idk (which also threatens this core if Grass Knot).

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Knock Off

Ferrothorn dicks on rain all day. OHKOs Swampert, who does 81% max with superpower, and pelliper can't really touch you while you leech, whip, and stall it's roosts out.

CM M-Slowbro (time to be creative)

Slowbro @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Calm Mind
- Slack Off
- Psyshock / Ice Beam

This mon isn't gonna be OHKOing any member of this core, however it can defeat both of them and other rain members. M-Slowbro shits on this core all day long, it can tank any thing this two mons throws at it, and the only thing it has to do is boost with CM and fish for a Scald burn to render M-Swampert useless. Also it isn't useless against other members of rain teams, as it counter Electric Seed Hawlucha [which only have a 20% of 2HKOing at +6] and can defeat 1v1 Ferrothorn if Slowbro is using Ice Beam and CM.

252+ Atk Swampert-Mega Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 216+ Def Slowbro-Mega: 96-114 (24.3 - 28.9%) -- 99.3% chance to 4HKO
0 SpA Pelipper Scald vs. 252 HP / 40 SpD Slowbro-Mega in Rain: 71-84 (18 - 21.3%) -- possible 5HKO

0 SpA Slowbro-Mega Scald vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Swampert-Mega in Rain: 150-177 (43.9 - 51.9%) -- 68.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Slowbro-Mega Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 32+ Def Pelipper: 96-114 (29.7 - 35.2%) -- 17.1% chance to 3HKO

Satan’s Eye @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Ground]
All you mortals cower in fear as we are helpless to stop this beast. His cruel, unfeeling stare, freezes even Water-types solid, inside and out. His lasers annihilate even mighty beasts such as Tropius and Hoppip. His magic makes even volcanos crumble. Not even our god Landorus-Therian can stop it. Our only hope is to switch into Ferrothorn, Chansey, Toxapex, Magearna, Scizor, Ferrothorn, or your own eye of the beast to defeat it.

Highlights
Rotom-Wash
- Rotom often feels like a Pokemon that was really left behind in Gen 6, however it is still a strong defensive pivot with great utility and thanks to Levitate only one weakness. There is almost nothing this core can do, especially as rain’s main check to Electric attacks is Swampert. Astoria
Tapu Bulu - Not much to say here, avoiding the burn is preferred but not even necessary, very hard to for rain to deal with, Bulu also eases the Swampert matchup for teammates thanks to Grassy Terrain halving Earthquake damage. wadusher
Creative
Ninetales-Alola
- Good job on finding some use for Ninetales outside of Aurora Veil, cancelling Rain and if you get Veil up Earthquake is only a 3HKO. Freeze-Dry is a great move and Veil really damages rains effectiveness in general, as they rely on high damage output. stuuful12
Mega-Slowbro - One of my all-time favorite Pokemon and a hugely underrated tank in my opinion, if it was not in UU this would be a highlight for me. Incredible defensive bulk and burn chance makes Swampert an easy target and Pelipper is simply Calm Mind set up fodder. PrideMustang
Not Archived
Cryagonal
- I literally forgot this Pokemon existed until I saw this post lol. Flame from Heaven
Pelipper - I know last week I archived Scizor, but that utilized Knock Off which wasn’t in my core. Generally I’m gonna avoid archiving the exact set used in the core because it obviously causes a 50/50 and here your own Pelipper would provide rain for the opponent even if you KO theirs. Chessking345

Week 9 Core - Tapu Bulu + Kartana

Its been a while since we’ve had a Tapu core, so this week we will be looking at Tapu Bulu. Assault Vest Tapu Bulu is one of the tier’s premier special tanks, Bulu stands out as it does not have the problem of being worn down like many other Assault Vest users do. AV Bulu also checks extremely prominent special attackers in the tier, like Ash-Greninja and Tapu Koko, as well as some Physical threats like Zygarde and non-Z Fly Landorus. Grassy Terrain allows Tapu Bulu to utilize Assault Vest with passive recovery, and with the HP draining move Horn Leech being powered up, thanks to Terrain boosting Grass-type moves by 50%, Tapu Bulu is very difficult to whittle down. This boost in Grass damage is exactly what makes Kartana so threatening alongside Bulu, boosting Leaf Blade up to terrifying levels, particularly off a devastating 181 base Attack stat. Kartana however suffers horrific special defence, which is also patched up by Bulu, lastly Terrain halves the damage of Earthquake, which makes defensive Landorus-T and other Earthquake users set up fodder for Kartana.
Tapu Bulu @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 56 Atk / 60 SpD / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Horn Leech
- Wood Hammer
- Superpower
- Nature's Madness

Kartana @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Knock Off

As always, all postings are appreciated! But please, only post OU viable Pokémon and do not post sets specifically catered to this core, your threat should not be complete deadweight against teams that do not feature “two Grassy bois”.

At the end of the week I will archive viable threats, post a new core and highlight threats that are particularly creative or effective! I'll also try and explain why I didn't include any threats in the archive, if applicable.

Reserving Tornadus-T

Tornadus-Therian @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Defog

Tornadus-T freely switches into any attack either of the two mons can go for - the strongest attack they can hit you with is Karts Leaf Blade in Grassy Terrain which does about 55 but you outspeed since it isn't scarf and you threaten to OHKO with Hurricane and you can pivot out and get most of it back with Regenerator. Bulu doesn't die to a Hurricane without a lot of prior damage, but it falls over to Flyinium Z. Feel free to use the Naive spread with 40 Atk and Superpower over U-turn to threaten common partners to this core like Mega Tyranitar and Magnezone a lot more.

Kartana
252 Atk Kartana Leaf Blade vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tornadus-Therian in Grassy Terrain: 170-201 (56.8 - 67.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Hurricane vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kartana: 384-453 (147.6 - 174.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Bulu
60+ Atk Tapu Bulu Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tornadus-Therian in Grassy Terrain: 168-198 (56.1 - 66.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Hurricane vs. 248 HP / 56 SpD Assault Vest Tapu Bulu: 210-248 (61.2 - 72.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
252 SpA Tornadus-Therian Supersonic Skystrike (185 BP) vs. 248 HP / 56 SpD Assault Vest Tapu Bulu: 354-416 (103.2 - 121.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

The old fashioned taunt + 3 attacks gengar can rip through this core. It outspends and OHKOs both Bulu and Kartana. In an emergency, it can switch in on any of Bulu's attacks (without hazards), and proceed to KO it. However, it lacks bulk so can't do this more than once or twice, depending on what Bulu move uses. It can also switch into Kartana's Leaf Blade or SD, but is KO'd by knock off (obviously).

Gengar @ Life Orb/Ghostium Z
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Taunt
- Focus Blast

Obviously a little scouting can be helpful to confirm that its not scarf Kartana, which outspeeds and can KO Gengar with Knock Off.

The newer Wisp + (Z) Hex can also do work against these two, as regular Hex comfortably 2HKO's a statused Bulu, and a burnt Bulu is a crippled Bulu, but Gengar deals better with this core when running a poison move (the Z-Hex set normally runs Focus Miss, Taunt, Hex, and Wisp). That said, Hex can still OHKO a non-statused Kartana.

Calcs:

252 SpA Gengar Hex (65 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kartana: 256-303 (98.4 - 116.5%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kartana: 409-484 (157.3 - 186.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Gengar Sludge Wave vs. 248 HP / 56 SpD Assault Vest Tapu Bulu: 530-629 (154.5 - 183.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Kartana Leaf Blade vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Gengar: 143-168 (54.5 - 64.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
60+ Atk Tapu Bulu Wood Hammer vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Gengar in Grassy Terrain: 212-249 (80.9 - 95%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

Pinsir con come anytime vs bulu if rocks aren't up and use it as setup fodder/kill it, kartana can't 1hko it while frustration + quick attack has a chance to kill it, you can use close combat if you are kartana weak and u don't have a magnezone

Perish Trap Azumarill

Azumarill @ Iapapa Berry
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 228 SpD / 28 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Whirlpool
- Perish Song
- Protect
- Hidden Power [Fire]

This Azumarill set is immune to Bulu's and Kartana's powerful Grass attacks and resists their coverage. It can trap Bulu with Whirlpool and kill it with Perish Song, while Kartana dies to HP Fire. I think Iapapa Berry is better than leftovers on sets without Rest.

Reserving Chople Berry Magnezone.

Magnezone

Magnezone @ Chople Berry
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 64 HP / 252 SpA / 188 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Magnezone w/ a Chople Berry cockblocks both Bulu and Kart, allowing it to eat anything that isn't +2 All Out Pummeling, even after Rocks. It 2HKOs Bulu w/ Flash Cannon and can cripple it with Thunder Wave allowing it to be taken advantage of by a teammate. Obviously HP Fire OHKOs Kart while Sacred Sword only does 40-47 after Chople Berry. 188 Speed and Timid allows it to creep Bulu so that even after getting rid of Kartana/eating a Superpower it can still weaken, cripple, or even kill Bulu before dying. 64 HP guarantees Sacred Sword and Superpower are both 3HKOs after Berry, and 252 SpA lets it hit the hardest. Try to switch this in on Kartana instead of Bulu so that you use Chople Berry on Sacred Sword instead of Superpower in order to get rid of Kartana and have a shot at dealing w/ Bulu. Magnezone also has utility outside of dealing with this core of course, being able to either eliminate every bulky Steel in the tier aside from Heatran and Magearna, and it can cripple the latter with Thunder Wave.

252 Atk Kartana Sacred Sword vs. 64 HP / 0 Def Chople Berry Magnezone: 113-133 (38 - 44.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Kartana Sacred Sword vs. 64 HP / 0 Def Chople Berry Magnezone: 224-264 (75.4 - 88.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Spikes Protean Greninja

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Filler

I decided to take Spikes Greninja with LO, since, I think it's the best set for this Pokémon in the meta, barely below of Choice Scarf. Greninja can't switch into none of this mons for obvious reasons, however, It can take on both given a free switch in. It can bluff Battle Bond and nail Tapu Bulu on the switch in with Ice Beam, 2HKOing it with the move, while It outspeed and can revenge kill Kartana with the same move. This core is almost always paired with Utility Heatran, so, Hydro Pump comes in handy to OHKO that mon after rocks. Greninja wont be useless in any matchup, because of its multiple sets and the ability to threaten a lot of the metagame with its insane coverage.

252 SpA Life Orb Protean Greninja Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 56 SpD Assault Vest Tapu Bulu: 218-257 (63.5 - 74.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
252 SpA Life Orb Protean Greninja Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kartana: 391-461 (150.3 - 177.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Heatran: 377-447 (97.6 - 115.8%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
Mega Zard X is able to set up on bulu with the lack of Stone Edge getting it enough speed to KO Kartana after a +1 speed boost from DD. It’s able to live an All-Out Pummeling from Kart at full.

Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 248 HP / 156 SpD / 104 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Flamethrower
- Leech Seed
- Protect

Steela OHKOs Kartana and 2HKOs Bulu, only really fearing All-Out Pummeling after a boost or after taking a couple of Nature's Madnesses. Of course, if you play around it with Protect or force Kartana to blow its Z-Move too early, then this core has no chance.

60+ Atk Tapu Bulu Superpower vs. 248 HP / 104+ Def Celesteela: 101-119 (25.4 - 29.9%) -- 0.1% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
