[SET COMMENTS]

Thundurus is a very effective support option in Series 11 thanks to its good defensive typing and Prankster-boosted disruptive moves such as Eerie Impulse and Thunder Wave. Eerie Impulse slows special attackers such as Kyogre and Zapdos. In a metagame where Tailwind and Max Airstream are so ubiquitous, Thunder Wave gives Thundurus a way to control Speed, permanently slowing down fast Pokemon such as Zacian-C. Alternatively, Scary Face is fully accurate and can lower Regieleki's and Landorus-T's Speed. Taunt shuts down status moves such as Spore and Rage Powder from Amoonguss, Sleep Powder from Venusaur, and Trick Room and Eerie Impulse from Porygon2. Leer is mainly used with Zacian-C's Behemoth Blade to OHKO Dynamaxed Pokemon such as Thundurus. Thunder Wave sets sometimes opt for Swagger to give targets a harder time moving, which is extremely potent in a Dynamax metagame. It can also be paired with allies such as Lum Berry Landorus-T to turn them into huge threats. Sitrus Berry helps improve Thundurus's longevity. The Defense investment allows Thundurus to survive +1 Zacian-C's Play Rough.

Support Thundurus is commonly paired with Landorus-T for the bulk-improving combination of Intimidate and Eerie Impulse. Thundurus checks Water-types and helps Landorus-T with its Speed via Scary Face or Thunder Wave. Zacian-C is a common Restricted partner that appreciates Thundurus checking Water-types and giving it increased special bulk via Eerie Impulse. Blastoise has immense synergy with Thundurus because Eerie Impulse improves Blastoise's matchup against Regieleki, Thunder Wave or Scary Face helps Blastoise's Speed, and Blastoise threatens Landorus-T with G-Max Cannonade.

[SET COMMENTS]

In a metagame crowded with Intimidate Pokemon like Incineroar and Landorus-T, Defiant Thundurus has a strong niche as a Dynamax option capable of heavily denting teams and controlling speed with Max Airstream. Wild Charge allows Thundurus to hit Pokemon such as Kyogre and Charizard for super effective damage. Superpower OHKOes Incineroar and turns into Max Knuckle under Dynamax, giving Thundurus and its allies like Zacian-C Attack boosts. Foul Play takes advantage of the high Attack stats of many Restricted Pokemon and turns into Max Darkness, allowing Dynamaxed Thundurus to OHKO Calyrex-S and get Special Defense drops on both foes to aid powerful special attacking allies such as Calyrex-S. Alternatively, Lash Out consistently OHKOes Calyrex-S and gives Thundurus further protection against stat drops. Note that Thundurus is usually only effective as a Dynamax option. The EV spread combined with the Assault Vest allows Dynamaxed Thundurus to always survive Mystic Water Kyogre's Water Spout and Life Orb Charizard's G-Max Wildfire, and the Defense investment does the same for Jolly Life Orb Landorus-T's Max Rockfall. The Special Defense investment allows Dynamaxed Thundurus to never get KOed by Electroweb from Timid Magnet Regieleki combined with Max Geyser from Mystic Water Kyogre in rain, and the Attack investment lets it OHKO standard Kyogre back with Max Lightning even without a Defiant boost. Life Orb alternatively lets Thundurus 2HKO bulky Dynamaxed Landorus-T with Max Airstream after a Defiant boost. Life Orb sets tend to drop Foul Play or Lash Out for Protect.

Thundurus is frequently paired with Zacian-C thanks to its ability to punish Incineroar's and Landorus-T's Intimidate, enabling Zacian-C's Behemoth Blade by deterring them. It can also get Attack boosts on Zacian-C via Max Knuckle, allowing Zacian-C to threaten OHKOs on even most Dynamaxed Pokemon such as Charizard and opposing Thundurus. Zacian-C in return helps Thundurus beat Calyrex-I. Calyrex-S is another common Restricted partner that appreciates its ability to deter Incineroar and Urshifu-S and lower Special Defense via Max Darkness, allowing Calyrex-S to use its powerful Astral Barrage uncontested. Calyrex-S in return helps Thundurus beat Calyrex-I. Rillaboom helps Thundurus break through Gastrodon and Groudon, and Thundurus helps beat Charizard and Incineroar in return.

Thundurus is a very potent effective support option in Series 11 thanks to its good defensive typing and access to Prankster-boosted moves such as Eerie Impulse and Thunder Wave which can slow down the momentum of teams. Thunderbolt is used to bypass Thundurus' passivity give Thundurus a means of dealing damage, hitting Pokemon such as Kyogre super effectively (This sentence implies that you use it because it hits Ogre for super effective damage which isn't the case, it's just because it's STAB). Eerie Impulse allows Thundurus to slow down special attackers such as Kyogre and Zapdos. In a metagame where Max Airstream is so ubiquitous (and other speed control methods are common too, would not just specify airstream), Thunder Wave gives Thundurus a way to control the Speed. Scary Face can alternatively be used alternatively to be able to lower Regieleki's and Landorus-T's Speed (worth mentioninng the other benefits of Thunder Wave and Scary Face, ie Thunder Wave being permanant and giving the Full Para chance versus Scary Face not missing. Hitting Eleki/Lando is just one part of the decision). Taunt allows Thundurus to shut down Pokemon that depend on non-attacking moves like Amoonguss, Sleep Powder Venusaur, and opposing supportive Thundurus. Venusaur and Amoonguss' sleep moves as well as opposing Thundurus. (Add something about Leer here, ie good with Zacian for xyz). Swagger is usually used on Thunder Wave sets Thunder Wave sets sometimes opt to use Swagger to give targets only a small chance of moving per turn which is extremely potent powerful in a Dynamax metagame (Para + Confusion is 50/50 chance to move, wouldn't call that "Only a small chance"). It can also be paired with allies such as Lum Berry Landorus-T to turn them into huge threats. Sitrus Berry helps conserve improve Thundurus' longevity. The Defense investment allows Thundurus to survive a +1 Zacian-C Play Rough.

Support Thundurus is commonly paired with Landorus-T as its Intimidate in conjunction with Thudurus' Eerie Impulse bolsters both Pokemon's bulk significantly. Thundurus checks Water-types such as Kyogre and also helps Landorus-T with its middling Speed via Scary Face or Thunder Wave and can also use Swagger on Lum Berry sets to turn Landorus-T into a massive threat (Kyogre mention is odd here since you don't want Lando in against Ogre even if it gets hit with Eerie Impulse. Landorus-T's speed also isn't middling since it outspeeds a good chunk of the metagame, would probably say it helps it outspeed threats like X and Y. Swagger + Lum is too niche to mention and is also not very good). Zacian-C is a common Restricted partner for Thundurus partner that appreciates Thundurus checking Water-types and giving it increased special bulk via Eerie Impulse. (Mention something about Blastoise since that team is the one that made Support Thundurus mainstream in S11)

[SET COMMENTS]

In a metagame crowded filled with Intimidate Pokemon like Incineroar and Landorus-T, Defiant Thundurus has a strong niche as a Dynamax option capable of heavily denting teams with its high base Attack and Speed and access to Speed control in Max Airstream while Dynamaxedvia Fly (you need to specify somewhere that Defiant Thundurus is really only good as a Dynamaxer. It's really medicore if it doesn't Max). Wild Charge allows Thundurus to hit Pokemon such as Kyogre and Charizard hard for super effective damage. (Give Fly a more in depth mention instead of just a line in the introduction sentence since Max Airstream is the best part of the set). Superpower turns into Max Knuckle under Dynamax, giving Thundurus and its allies partners like Zacian-C Attack boosts, (add comma) and OHKOes Incineroar outside of Dynamax. Foul Play takes advantage of the high Attack stats of many Restricted Pokemon and turns into Max Darkness during Dynamax, getting Special Defense drops on both opposing Pokemon and OHKOing Calyrex-S (need to specify in Dynamax since it misses the KO outside of it. The part I cut is just dex info). Lash Out can alternatively be used alternatively to OHKO Calyrex-S consistently outside of Dynamax and as a way to punish Intimidate when not Dynamaxed (Defiant already punishes Intimidate. Maybe "another way to punish Intimidate" or "As further protection against stat drops" or something like that). The EV spread combined with the Assault Vest allows Dynamaxed Thundurus to always survive a Mystic Water-boosted Water Spout in rain from Kyogre and a Life Orb and Solar Power-boosted G-Max Wildfire from Charizard and the Defense investment allows it to survive a Jolly Life Orb Landorus-T Max Rockfall, all when Dynamaxed. The Attack investment lets Thundurus always OHKO Kyogre (what spread? I assume 4HP but specify. Also, with Wild Charge or Max Lightning? Not clear based on the sentence). The Special Defense investment allows Thundurus to never get KOed by Electroweb from Regieleki cobined with a Max Geyser from Mystic Water Kyogre in rain when Thudurus is Dynamaxed (is this what the set is EV'd for? Why not mention this with the other survives. Pick the strongest attack or attack combination, say it's EV'd for that, and mention it also survives the other too. Also which Eleki, and is it Modest or Timid? Sash, Specs, Magnet, and LO all see some amount of play). Thanks to the Defense investment, Dynamaxed Thundurus is never OHKOed by a Groudon or a Life Orb-boosted Landorus-T Max Rockfall. (Life Orb Thundurus is common enough to at least get a mention here I think).

Thundurus is frequently paired with Zacian-C and Calyrex-S thanks to its ability to punish Incineroar's Intimidate and get Speed boosts for them via Max Airstream (they are the second and third fastest Pokemon in the metagame, Airstream doesn't help them more than most other Mons. Also, Caly-S doesn't care about Incineroar's Intimidate, just Incineroar. Maybe break these discussion points into two seperate groups of sentences because they're two different teams and Thundurus functions differntly on each: an Intimidate deterrent on Zacian-C teams and Dark-type repellent and HO combo mon on Caly-S teams). It can also get Attack boosts on Zacian-C via Max Knuckle and Special Defense drops on opposing Pokemon via Max Darkness for Calyrex-S. Zacian-C in return helps Thundurus beat Calyrex-I and Landorus-T and Calyrex-S helps Thundurus beat Calyrex-I and Solgaleo (Confusing mentions of Mons. No need to mention Caly-I twice if you keep this as one sentence. Landorus-T mention is odd since if anything Thundurus helps Zacian against Landorus-T, since yes while Behemoth Blade and +1 Airstream will KO Dynamax Landorus-T, +1 Airstream plus a lot of things KO Dynamax Landorus-T. Solageo is not relevant enough to mention). Landorus-T is a common partner who bolsters Thundurus' bulk via Intimidate and appreciates Thundurus punishing Intimidate itself. Thudurus also helps Landorus-T beat Water-types such as Kyogre and Blastoise. (They do see some play together but they don't have a ton of actual synergy outside of Max Knuckle + Earthquake since they both want to Max. Would rather see a mention like Thundurus-I on Sun or another common team. Kyogre mention is iffy since you definitely don't bring both AV Thundurus and Landorus-T to Kyogre matchups most of the time). Rillaboom helps Thundurus break through Gastrodon and Groudon and Thundurus helps beat Charizard and Incineroar in return (why Gastrodon? It's not all that common and with Airstream I don't really think Thundurus has a particularly bad Gastrodon MU).

Taunt allows Thundurus to shut down status moves such as Spore and Rage Powder from Amoonguss, Sleep Powder from Venusaur, and Porygon2's Trick Room and Eerie Impulse. Leer is mainly used with Zacian-C's Behemoth Blade to threaten OHKOs on many Dynamaxed Pokemon such as Thundurus, and have a favorable roll to OHKO Charizard. Thunder Wave sets sometimes opt to use Swagger to give targets a relatively hit or miss chance to move which is extremely potent in a Dynamax metagame. (Can you say something about Lash Out that's just something to the effect of "can OHKO caly-s when not Dynamaxed", can also add crunch there too I guess since I personally think Crunch is better and they're interchangable but doesn't matter much either way). Thundurus wants to Dynamax a lot of the time as it is usually only strong as a Dynamax option and its damage output can be underwhelming even after getting Defiant boosts if it isn't Dynamaxed (It's less that and more that your options for damage are a 90 BP recoil move, a non-STAB move that drops attack, non-STAB low BP Dark Move that may not even use the boosts if it's Foul Play, and... Fly, so you just have terrible move choices). The EV spread combined with the Assault Vest allows Dynamaxed Thundurus to always survive a Mystic Water-boosted Water Spout in rain from Kyogre and a Life Orb and Solar Power-boosted G-Max Wildfire from Charizard and the Defense investment allows it to survive a Jolly Life Orb Landorus-T Max Rockfall.
