The Cirque Des Fantômes. Most well known for exclusively using 'wild Pokemon that decide to work with us', the circus features incredibly talented performers, one of the widest varieties of acts... and a strange habit of causing the rate of unsolved disappearences to skyrocket wherever the circus chooses to set up sticks.

Just a coincidence, if you believe the owner.

Yes, well. With the circus closed at night, you take it upon yourself to investigate. Shouldn't be too difficult, right?

Player Options:
a) Enter the Cirque Des Fantômes
b) Leave
There's surprisingly little security in the circus, and you're able to easily - too easily - avoid the sights of the handful of people closing down stalls and sweeping the grounds.

Even then, you're surprised when you suddenly find yourself unable to move, telekinetically lifted into clear sights of a Mr. Mime, sitting inside a large dunk tank, suspended over some rather murky water. A small target is next to the sign, looking suspiciously undamaged.

"Not very good at hiding, are you? I'm not sure why you're hiding, unless you're the one stealing from all the stalls. Hey, whilst you're here, why not play a game? Each of your Pokemon throws an attack at that target, and if I drop, you get a prize. That'll just be ¥500!"

You note that the clown has yet to remove you from it's telekinetic control, and will likely not do so until you pay. Daylight robbery indeed...

Player Options:
Declare one non-contact attack for each Pokémon. If a Pokémon doesn't have a non-contact attack, it automatically uses Fling (the item is not lost)

[REF NOTE] Each attack deducts EN as standard. The target is modelled as having 2 Def, and 2 SpD. Attacks hit the target 100% of the time, and never crit (unless they would crit 100% of the time). The target is typeless, and as such has no weaknesses and resistances.

If Damage Dealt is 45 or above
You note the attacks seem almost inclined to swing away from the target, but they manage to stay on course with the sign, and the clown falls into the water, sputtering and panting as it climbs back to the surface. A small box of pills floats it way in front of you.

"You get... up to three..."

... there surely is no ethical problem with circus prizes including league-banned steroids, right? Right.

Player Options:
Pick three of Dire Hit, Guard Spec., X Accuracy, X Attack, X Defend, X Sp. Def, X Special, X Speed, without duplicates, and then tend to your team.

[REF NOTE] Trainer picks 3 from the following: Dire Hit, Guard Spec., X Accuracy, X Attack, X Defend, X Sp. Def, X Special, X Speed. No duplicate picks.

If Damage Dealt is below 45

"Hah, you didn't do well there! I didn't even have to telekinetically make the atta... well, anyway, you clearly suck! Consolation prize for the loser! It's a Razz Berry!"

The barrier pokemon sticks it's tongue out at you at the end of it's cackling. At the same time, a small berry floats out from behind the tank into your hand.

Player Options:
Tend to your team.

[REF NOTE] Trainer gets a Razz Berry.
You continue to explore the circus, looking for hints as to what happened to all the missing people. You pass the haunted house, which you decide to avoid rummaging through for the sake of your sanity. That one can be explored in the dayti...

... or not, as you are suddenly ambushed by a Gourgeist-XL, who is able to ridiculously quickly trap <POKEMON> inside the house. You cautiously enter the building to get <POKEMON> out of there, and based on the size of the house you think it'll take about two rounds to find them.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Trap with Gourgeist-XL, against opponent's lowest EN Pokemon (your choice in tie). Trap Move: Z-Trick-or-Treat. Trap Phase: 2 Rounds
Haunted House
Not actally that spooky. Just ignore the strange feeling that something is going to attack you from behind. It's just your imagination.

Arena is indoors

Nature Power calls Astonish

Secret Power rolls flinch

Combo Timer: Damaging (3) / Status (3)
You escape the haunted house, before continuing towards the circus' big top. Your route is hardly a direct one, and you end up meandering into a dead end, which based on the cages, props, and whips, looks like a training area. You make a u-turn to get back into the maze of stalls, however your plans are halted when your path is blocked by a <Simisear/Simisage/Simipour>, a <Simisear/Simisage/Simipour>, and a <Pansear/Pansage/Panpour>,

Ah. This is a: problem.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Guardian fight with two of Simisear, Simisage, and Simipour (Ref's Choice), and a background Pansear/Pansage/Panpour. The Pansear/Pansage/Panpour represents the missing typing from the Guardians.

Problem: Solved. Just about. However, you think you can now see a solid path to reach the big top. Onwards!
Some reasonably open training space. Best to ignore the bloodstains and the whips!

Leaf Stone, Fire Stone, and Water Stone can each be used as a Z-Crystal once, for the types Grass, Fire, and Water respectively.

Pledge Moves choose which attack is boosted to 20 BAP if they are used on the same action. For instance, Fire Pledge + Grass Pledge can produce a 20 BAP Fire Pledge, or a 20 BAP Grass Pledge, both with the same effect. This is indicated by ordering, for instance, "Grass Pledge [20 BAP]".

If three Pledge Moves are used in a single action, all Pledge Effects activate, and all work at 20 BAP.

Background Pokemon act A1 of each round only, order first, and cannot deal direct damage to the player's Pokemon, although they can inflict status through moves such as Taunt, Leech Seed and Fake Out. Background Pokemon do not need to be KOed.

Nature Power calls Tri-Attack

Secret Power rolls flinch

Combo Timer: Damaging (3) / Status (3)
You slowly manage to navigate through the mass of stalls and amusements to reach the entrance of the Big Top. You can't see anyone around, however an automated stand flares up, apparently detecting your presence.

"Get your medicines, get your medicines here! Special offer, get your medicines here! Max one per person!"

You see the machine appears to have a slot to place items, and a slot where it... probably... dispenses medicine. A small sign highlights the prices, and your eyes feel as though they leap out of your skull. Still, it might be worthwhile, given the lack of alternatives?

Player Options:
a) Trade five items for a Potion (Please state the items)
b) Trade three items and a Potion for a Super Potion (Please state the items)
c) Carry on

[REF NOTE] Each of the above is an accurate description of what happens.

If A or B

You trade in your items and get your medicine, without spending too much time questioning exactly how the stand works. Somehow, you can't help but feel you've been ripped off somehow. At least your wallet is lighter as you enter the Big Top?

If C

You're no schmuck, and certainly not insane enough to pay Circus prices. You enter the Big Top confident in your decision!
Inside the Big Top, you see that whilst the stands are empty, there appears to be a crowd of maybe six people juggling... Voltorb? You shuffle down closer to the edge of the ring, to see what's going on

One of people - definitely a clown, looking at that makeup - notices you once you're close. Distracted, the clown lets the Voltorb he was supposed to be juggling fall to the floor, with a resounding explosion, launching the other Voltorb out, and momentarily stunning you. As you regain your wits, you realise that the other clowns have fled, and that the Voltorb are probably going to hit the floor before you can run to safety.

Hastily, you and your team start trying to punch the Voltorb back into the air until they become less likely to explode. Still... you get the feeling that you want more experience for this than the seconds you spent watching moments ago...

[REF NOTE] Initiate Horde fight with 5x Voltorb
This would probably be easier if you had more than two arms...

Items cannot be stolen, removed, or swapped.

Spread attacks deal no more than three (3) damage.

If a Voltorb is not hit/targeted by an attack to which it is not immune (targeting one using Protect/Dodge is enough, EQ if one is floating is not) in a single round, hits all opponents (not allies) with Explosion, ignoring the Horde Damage Reduction, resistances, immunities, Damp, negations (Encore/Imprison/etc.) and evasive maneuvers (Protect, Wide Guard, Dig, etc.), and ignoring the above arena effect.

Arena is indoors

Nature Power calls Electro Ball

Secret Power rolls paralysis

Combo Timer: Damaging (10) / Status (10)
With the Voltorb no longer a threat, you realise that you've attracted an audience, a lone man with a cape who is... clapping? Wait, isn't that the ringleader of the circus?

"Ah, I see we have a guest. And with what skill as well! Let me guess, you're here to ask about the disappearances?"

"Well... truth be told, it takes an awful lot of manpower to run this circus. And thanks to investigative types like you, it's so much easier to find replacements... although a lot harder to find ones so initially skilled! You'll be a perfect addition to our staff!"

You feel yourself tense up, trying to figure out how to escape from this circus as soon as possible...

"Ah, of course... you don't exactly have a choice in the matter! But not to worry, much like these two, you'll soon be obeying me of your own free will!"

You move to turn and run, however your path is blocked by a Blacephalon and a Chandelure, enjoying the spotlight.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Boss fight with Blacephalon and Chandelure

Losing Blacephalon and Chandelure, the ringmaster runs off the stage. You prepare to give chase, however you're stunned as the fabric of the Big Top suddenly flies off, giving you a view of outside... which is somehow largely comprised of a strange, futuristic looking jet plane.

"You might have beaten me, but I won't stop now! We'll rebuild from the ground up! THIS ISN'T THE LAST OF ME!"

The gun on the plane suddenly glows brightly, and you try to find somewhere to hide... however, you don't find any cover and are knocked out as a bright light completely envelopes the circus.

You come to your senses... well, you're not entirely sure how long you've been asleep, although the sun is now realising. However, you realise that you seem to be in the field where the circus was... and there doesn't seem to be any trace of the circus. Not even tracks in the ground left behind, as the circus seems to have literally vanished.

Wearily, you stagger on home, to get some actual rest...
A spotlight highlights the battle, as the audience falls into complete shadow. Showtime!

Blacephalon may hold up to 3 items at a time, and may trade an item with any target hit by it’s attacks (as if using Trick).

Blacephalon and Chandelure can each use one Z-Move, either Ghost- or Fire- typed, until the end of the match, even if they do not hold an appropriate Z-Crystal.

If a Pokemon was under the effect of Wide Guard on the last action, it is unable to be influenced by Wide Guard on the following action.

Arena is indoors

Nature Power calls Electro Ball

Secret Power rolls paralysis

Become the asshole you always wanted to be. The Voltorb fight is one that you can take in a number of ways. Pick up Discharge to spread paralysis on an entire opponent's team, if you don't care to rely on Zap Cannon. Play the long game with dual screens and Eerie Impulse. If it annoys you just thinking about it, consider the mood playing against it! And remember that in this fight, you have explicit permission to do whatever you can to interupt your opponent and cause an Explosion!
