Pet Mod To The Gigantamax! V2 (Slate 19: Anything Goes - Voting Phase)

Approved by G-Luke
Inherited from Estronic

Original Thread

Do you wish that more Pokemon had Gigantamax formes?
Do you enjoy the Dynamax mechanic or the Ubers metagame?
Would you like to make submissions to a simple easy to understand Pet Mod?
If you said yes to any of these questions, then it's once again time to go....
To The Gigantamax!

To The Gigantamax is back and better than ever! The original thread was around during the early parts of Generation 8 when Dynamax was still legal in the tier and we didn't even think of the possibility of DLC Pokemon or DLC Gigantamax forms. Now, months later, things have changed quite a bit, with Dynamax banned to Ubers, Ubers itself being a much more developed tier, and the introduction over 100 Pokemon from the first DLC pack of the Isle of Armor. Thus, with all of the change that has occurred since the original To The Gigantamax, I felt that a new thread was warranted to account for all of the change.

This version of To The Gigantamax is an Anything Goes-based metagame with a VGC Series 7 side meta. Subs can be balanced for either since we're allowed to ban things from VGC because we're not Game Freak.

Slate 1: Type Casting
:sm/volcarona::sm/rotom-wash::sm/blissey::sm/tyranitar:
On the Ubers Viability Rankings, 4 of the least common types are Bug, Electric, Normal, and Rock

Thus, for Slate 1, to add diversity to the Ubers tier, you must submit a Bug, Electric, Normal, or Rock-type Gigantamax form
The types of their max move DOES NOT have to be one of those 4 types
Due to the Ubers Dynamax Banlist, Ditto and Zekrom cannot be subbed for this slate

Submissions end on August 15th

G-Max Move: G-max rock crash (makes contact)
G-Max move type: rock
G-Max move description: G-max rock crash has no addictional effect, but it makes contact. Why does it makes contact? Because :Lycarock-dusk: has got tough claws, so its more powerful.
Competitive overview: lycanrock dusk become a perfect late game cleaner. It can sweep a lot of ubers (zekrom, reshiram, kyurem's family and others). This gmax move doesn't boost this pokemon because ditto can be a problem as an opposing sweep.

:ss/Raichu-Alola:
G-max move: G-max electric surfer
G-max type: psychic
G-max move description: It summons electric surge
Competitive overview: raichu alola can summons electric surge by itself and it doesn't need fake pyukumuku support.

G-max move: G-max berserk gene
G-max type: normal

Competitive overview: tauros berserk gene comeback from gen 2. Idk if it's too op, but tell me what do you think.

Hello! I'm glad to see someone submit this this but I do have a couple suggestions

The problem with Raichu's is that a Normal Max Lightning already summons Electric, making this GMax form very redundant. I suggest making an Electric-type move that does something else or possibly a Psychic-type move instead so Raichu can still set up its own Electric Terrain with Max Lightning

As for Tauros, I'd say it's actually too weak rather than OP as it has the same effect as Max Knuckle but also confuses Tauros which isn't very good at all. I'd suggest removing the self-confusion effect or having it boost its Attack by 2

Subs:

:sm/durant:
Pokemon: Durant
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Bug/Steel
G-Max Move Name: G-Max Ant Parade
G-Max Move Type: Bug
G-Max Move Description: Raise's the user's accuracy by 1
Competitive Overview: Durant really needs 2 things, consistency and speed. Speed is somewhat offset by First Impression or by using a Sticky Web team, so I chose to go the consistency route by giving Durant a way to boost accuracy without needing to find a free turn to try to set up a Hone Claws. Having at least 1 accuracy boost allows Durant to become a much more consistent late game cleaner and it won't have to worry about missing and can put that 109 Speed tier to good use since it outspeeds a good amount of the metagame, especially if webs are up.

:sm/porygon-z:
Pokemon: Porygon-Z
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Normal
G-Max Move Name: G-Max Malware
G-Max Move Type: Normal
G-Max Move Description: 50% Chance to Burn the opponent(s), 50% Chance to paralyze the opponent(s)
Competitive Overview: Porygon-Z can act as a setup sweeper thanks to its pretty good coverage and access to both Nasty Plot and Agility and with G-Max Malware, it becomes a bit harder to stop a sweep when you risk your physical attacker being crippled by a burn or your offensive Pokemon getting crippled by paralysis thanks to the effect that mirrors Tri Attack (with no freeze effect as a 33% chance to freeze would be broken).

:sm/magnezone:
Pokemon: Magnezone
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Electric/Steel
G-Max Move Name: G-Max Anion
G-Max Move Type: Steel
G-Max Move Description: Super effective on Steel-types
Competitive Overview: Magnezone has no way of trapping the multitude of Steel-types in Ubers effectively but with this move, that task becomes a lot easier as Magnezone can successfully trap Skarmory, Corviknight, Excadrill, Necrozma-Dusk-Mane (with a roll), Melmetal, Ferrothorn, and Magearna, though it comes at the cost of using Dynamax to sweep.

:sm/crustle:
Pokemon: Crustle
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Bug/Rock
G-Max Move Name: G-Max Spring Cleaning
G-Max Move Type: Bug
G-Max Move Description: Sets Sticky Web
Competitive Overview: Crustle can be an interesting Shell Smash sweeper thanks to the combination of Heavy-Duty Boots and Sturdy nearly guaranteeing that it gets a Shell Smash up, though Crustle is extremely slow and not terribly strong. Dynamax can help with the lacking strength while G-Max Spring Cleaning gives Crustle a way to shore up its low speed by setting Webs up, allowing a +2 Crustle to outspeed most non-Scarfers. This can also make Crustle a great lead as a set of Spikes or Stone Edge, Stealth Rock, Shell Smash, and X-Scissor can set up 2 or 3 hazards in one slot for non-Dynamax sweepers like Necrozma to abuse later

Pokemon: Scyther
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Bug/Flying
G-Max Move Name: G-Max Beheading
G-Max Move Type: Bug
G-Max Move Description: For the next 5 turns, all Bug-type moves in the field will have doubled power.
Competitive Overview: With Swords Dance and Max Airstream, maybe Scyther has a chance to sweep the metagame. G-Max Beheading allows Scyther to break through Bug resists (which are a lot) thanks to the power boost. For the Bug STAB, it can choose between Technician Bug Bite or X-Scissor. Technician Bug Bite is more powerful (especially if the field effect is still active) but cannot damage opposing Dynamax Pokemon, making X-Scissor more reliable.

:sm/heracross:
Pokemon: Heracross
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Bug/Fighting
G-Max Move Name: G-Max Horn Sharpening
G-Max Move Type: Bug
G-Max Move Description: Raises user's speed and accuracy by 1 stage each.
Competitive Overview: Heracross already has options in Guts and Moxie and can hit well with high BP moves but it is slow for Ubers. Now it can get a speed boost and hit Megahorn more accurately after Dynamax ends. It'll be better to use Moxie now. It will need to get one opportunity in the match to freely hit the move to set up. Max Knuckle can also raise the attack too.

Mandibuzz
Volcarona
Ferrothorn
Magearna
Chansey
Toxapex
Shuckle

This slate will end on August 27th

:ss/salazzle:
Pokemon: Salazzle
Type of the gigantamax form: fire/poison
G-Max Move name: Corrosive poison
G-Max Move type: poison
G-Max Move description: poison the target
Competitive overview: :salazzle: ability (corrosion) is very good vs stall and bulky balance team, and now while you dynamax you do precious chip damage. With hex abusers can do some offensive core, too.

:ss/arctozolt:
Pokemon: arctozolt
Type of the gigantamax form: electric/ice
G-Max move name: Subzero fossil
G-Max move type: ice
G-Max move description: lowers the opposing speed by one and raise its attack by one
Competitive overview: :arctozolt: now has got the chance to destroy with its mixed attacks (bolt beak and freeze dry the most important moves) common defensive core (toxapex, chansey, quagsire and a lot others) and can also have speed control and setup in one turn with its new g-max move. It can be perfect for balance and sticky offense team, but it need someone that help him eith its ×4 weakness to ground.

I'll do other gmax forms, but atm I cannot do this because I am at the sea...

:ss/Scolipede:
Pokemon: Scolipede
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Bug/Poison
G-Max Move Name: Venomous Strike
G-Max Move Type: Poison
G-Max Move Description: Sets up 2 layers of Toxic Spikes and does neutral damage to Steel-type.
Competitive Overview: Now Scolipede can not only be a fast attacker but also strike the opponent with a move and set up Toxic Spikes simultaneously while Megahorn already has high BP.

Edit: Changed it to 2 layers of Spikes since Heavy Duty Boots are a thing now and so many people wouldn't really want to Dynamax Scolipede for just a layer of Toxic Spikes.

Can I sub zacian/zamazenta (not crowned form) as gigantamax?
Unfortunately, you cannot subs Zacian or Zamazenta for any slate because of the built in mechanic preventing them from dynamaxing, plus if they could they'd likely end up on the Dynamax banlist. Also, they would also not be allowed in this slate since they both have enough usage to be Ubers "OU"

:ss/galvantula:
Pokemon: Galvantula
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Electric/Bug
G-Max Move Name: Shock Web
G-Max Move Type: Electric
G-Max Move Description: Sets Sticky Webs and lowers the target's attack by one stage.
Competitive Overview: This allows Galvantula to be even better speed control than it already is. It can not only easily set webs, but also force the opponent out due to the loss of attack.

:ss/polteageist:
Pokemon: Polteageist
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Ghost/Psychic
G-Max Move Name: Tea Tricks
G-Max Move Type: Psychic
G-Max Move Description: Base power changes based on the stats, starting at 20 with +20 power for each boosted stat. It also raises its attack by one stage.
Competitive Overview: This gigantamax aligns perfectly with Polteageist's shell smash sweeper set, allowing it to gain STAB on its stored power and take hits better in its gmax form.

:ss/skarmory:
Pokemon: Skarmory
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Flying/Steel
G-Max Move Name: Windspike
G-Max Move Type: Flying
G-Max Move Description: Sets 1 layer of spikes and forces the opponent out
Competitive Overview: This allows Skarmory to spike stack during its 3 turns of gigantamax and also acts as an offensive whirlwind, forcing the opponent into the spikes. By the time gigantamax is over, you have 3 layers of spikes down.

Pokemon: Polteageist
Type of the Gigantamax Form: Ghost/Psychic
G-Max Move Name: Tea Tricks
G-Max Move Type: Psychic
G-Max Move Description: Base power doubled if stats are changed.
Competitive Overview: This gigantamax aligns perfectly with Polteageist's shell smash sweeper set, allowing it to gain STAB on its stored power (140 is the base power after a single shell smash, iirc, so it matches up with a powerful max move) and take hits better in its gmax form.
Hello! These subs are fine (though I might need clarification on the quoted one as the effect makes it sound like a 260 BP Max Move off of Stored Power but the overview says it's 140 BP). However, to avoid cluttering up the thread, I do ask that you move the Polteageist and Skarmory subsmissions into your first post using the Edit button and deleting the extra posts.

Hello! Will do. Also I was mainly considering a 70 base power max move that can be boosted to 140 due to it really not being bulky enough to get more than one shell smash off, but I wasn't really considering weak armor. However, changing it to being max stored power poses another problem: Its literally just stored power again. I will probably also change the secondary effect from psychic terrain to something less op, since I forgot it boosts psychic moves and... yeah. Thank you!
