WEEK 1


It's time to continue Tours Plaza Premiere III with the second week!​


Format :

Our 8 All-Star teams will compete in a straight round robin tournament, and every team will get to play against every other team. At the end of the round robin, the top four teams will move on to our series semi-finals, where the #1 seed will take on the #4 seed, and #2 will take on the #3 seed, to determine our grand finalists. A win will be worth 2 points, a draw 1, and a loss 0.

Note : Every player on the team must play once in the 7 weeks of round robin.

Sportsmanship: Don't be an ass. Not to your opponents, not to your team, not on PS, not on Smogon, not to me. A bit of friendly banter is ok, but please know where to draw the line. Think before you type, please.

Scheduling and Activity Wins: Contact your opponent as quickly as possible on their Smogon wall, and look out for them on PS. You will have one week from the posting of the week's matches to get it done, and I will not be granting any extensions for any reasons. If your opponent is not responding to your post on their wall, cannot be found on PS, or miss multiple scheduled times, make a detailed activity post in the thread letting me know why you deserve the win. No activity post means no activity call. As long as you have visible attempts at scheduling (such as wall posts), you will be fine.

Disconnections and Timer: A timer loss is a loss. No if's, and's, or but's about it. If your opponent is nice enough to replay that's fine, but they are by no means obligated to.

Ghosting and Identity: Don't take or give battle advice or make moves based solely on the suggestions of others, and don't pretend to be someone else in order to play as them. You will be caught, and you will be disqualified from this season as well as future PS! tournaments (BLT, PSPL, etc.).

Substitutions: Managers are free to substitute out inactive players at any point during the week with any subs they chose during the draft. Be sure to post in the thread when making a substitution.

SnM : WMAR (100-#) vs Icemaster (100>#): What does WMAR stand for? Oh its for his name irl. Well I have it on good record that Icemaster is a Nice Caster in real life. The problem is that nice guys always finish last in Gen 8 STABmons + Mix and Mega.
Rands : i want a lamp (112) vs Casual dot exe (-12): Bloody casuals smh. I highly recommend the Light Society Hylight Retro Desk Lamp. It is relatively cheap but doesn't look cheap. Has an angled arm and a swiveling, flared shade, giving it a perfect no fuss design.
Bo3 OU : Splash (432) vs crying (-332): Oh this one is ez. The one guy cries so much that his tears make a splash. Splash in 4.

National Dex Ubers : Kate (95) vs WSun1 (5): kate won the NDAG Open, while i lost in 5 turns to shadow rider. therefore i think extremely highly of kate for being able to play this god awful meta at such a high level
National Dex Same Six : Sificon (-900) vs Gray (1000): SIFICON IS ASS. Gray is the best LCer of the generation.

Bouncing Bounsweets (3) vs Absolute Absolposters (5)

Gen 8 STABmons + Almost Any Ability : Don Vascus vs The Number Man - The Number Man is The Number Man, and the floor is made of floor, I need no better explanation. Tnm is the best omm player in the pool, and by extension, the best staaab player in the pool with a long history in this tier and the omm community, with tons of knowledge and prowess. Don has these things as well, just to a lesser extent. Overall, I think tnm is the better player too, so I'm confident tnm will win here. He may be the number man, but the chances of him winning are so great, they can't be put in numbers.
Gen 8 STABmons + Mix and Mega : WMAR vs Icemaster - While I believe wmar is relatively new to the snm scene, he has more than proven his dominance in the tier, having a spot in the tier's council, and having beaten placu, another council member last week. Although I think wmar has a good chance of winning, I'm gonna have to say icemaster wins here, as he def has more experience and he seems like the better player too.
Bring 10 Pick 6 Random Battles w/ Dynamax : i want a lamp vs Casual dot exe - Hl match. Both are great players in rands with a lot of experience, one being a rands auth and the other being a former rands auth. However, I really haven't seen casual do much for a while, haven't really seen him play any major tours is what I mean, while I believe lamp's been relatively active. Since casual is more of a casual player who's been inactive and thus probably a bit rusty, I think i want a lamp to win. Wait that's not what I meant to say-
Best of 3 No Team Preview Gen 6 /7/ 8 OU : Splash vs crying - Probably the biggest hl match this week. Both are really good ou players and while I think it could be close and that this should be a good set, I think I have a strong feeling of who wins. Inolife has def proven to be a solid ou main in more recent tours, however, idt I've ever seen them play older ou gens. Maybe they have, I've just never seen it. While splash is more experienced as a player and is solid in all 3 of these ou gens. I'm thinking a similar set to splash vs rogi will play out and splash will take it in 3 by winning gens 6 and 7.
CaMonotype : PA vs kythr - I'm going to somewhat base this off of their performances last week. Iirc, kythr had a pretty close game vs mossy and won, while Euph literally used POISON to demolish poison adhesive. What I mean is pa didn't play too well. Based on that, and the fact I think kythr is generally the better player, I'm picking kythr here.
Gen 8 Doubles NU : Ninja vs queso - This is interesting, as I've never seen ninja play doubles. Both of these 2 are good players, cheese being able to play a multitude of different tiers, while ninja is an nu main. Seeing as one of the tiers cheese can play is dou, and how doubles experience carries over while nu experience doesn't, cheese should have this. In any other scenario, it would be weird to predict a ninja losing a fight to a piece of cheese.
Gen 8 National Dex Ubers w/ No Obtainable Formes : Kate vs WSun1 - Another major hl match. Both are ag mains and I think this should be close. WSun1 was definitely impressive last week, though he faced an oppo who didn't main the tier. Kate on the other hand is a very good player with a lot of experience and prowess in the tier, even having won NDAG as charm mentioned, so I'll pick kate here, but I wouldn't be surprised if WSun1 wins.
Gen 8 National Dex Same Six : Sificon vs Gray - A battle between 2 good friends of mine. I didn't expect to see gray slotted in same six, so this should be interesting. Sifi may have beaten axel last week in an upset, but axel choked majorly. I think gray is just the better overall player, and despite me not knowing his history in this tier, I'm gonna say gray will win. It's not always black and white... its gray.

Gen 8 STABmons + Almost Any Ability : 23Gz vs TectonicDestroyer - 23Gz, being an omm mod, has plenty of knowledge in tiers like this, and definitely displayed his prowess in staaab last week by beating don. While tect... after the disaster that was last week, supposedly not having any teams and johning until ultimately being subbed out, I don't see much success from him in this tour until I see him play. Despite that, tect is a wild card and def has the potential of pulling off something crazy and winning... but logically I'm just gonna say "gz" in advance in 23Gz for winning here.
Gen 8 STABmons + Mix and Mega : PociekMociek vs Akashi - Kind of a hard match to predict for... cause on one hand, we got placu, who is a member of this tier's council, has had a presence in the omm community for a while now, and generally has a lot of experience in omms, yet lost pretty badly to wmar last week. On the other hand, Jeran, when he's serious, is a great player who's been very active in tours room recently, and is far more experienced as an overall player due to playing mons for so many years. The problem is we've yet to see him actually play this tier, so while I wouldn't be surprised if Jeran wins (cause its Jeran), I'm gonna have to pick snm council member placu.
Bring 10 Pick 6 Random Battles w/ Dynamax : Roginald vs trace - Hl match. Rogi and trace were on the same team just this past blt, so this is a battle of snorlaxes. Both are great players with experience in rands, rogi being randbats room driver and trace having a good history in random tiers. Ironically, I feel trace is more a more randbats oriented player than the randbats driver rogi, so I think trace wins this, but I wouldn't be surprised if rogi won, both are solid.
Best of 3 No Team Preview Gen 6 /7/ 8 OU : Drud vs Stareal - Turns out stareal isn't the real star of ou for this tour, but he's easily still one of the best. Star is a very solid ou main with plenty of experience, knowledge and prowess in ou, and is generally a great player overall. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure drud mainly plays lower tiers, and I think he signed up for dnu. Also, I hear he's not bad... just that star is the better player here. Star being a better player and ou main, he should prove once more that he's a star in this tier by winning this.
CaMonotype : Euphonos vs not a racist - I thought not a racist played staaab, then he plays snm in week 1, and now camo mono?! Euphonos has plenty of experience, knowledge and prowess in this tier, as we've seen last week. He is a goat in camo mono, and although not a racist has had a presence in the omm community for a while, having played plenty of them, I... don't think I've ever seen him play camo mono. I gotta give it to camo mono goat Euphonos, but choosing not a racist is always a respectable choice because of his username.
Gen 8 Doubles NU : LTG vs Memoric - Don't get me wrong, I liked the team ltg used... he just didn't use it too well. Memoric's game vs surfy was really close, and very well played in the second half of the game. I heard great things regarding memoric before, but seeing the guy play definitely backs it up. Being a really good doubles main vs someone who has played doubles since gen 7 and never truly shined, I think memoric will take this.
Gen 8 National Dex Ubers w/ No Obtainable Formes : pannuracotta vs mammalu - I learned this recently, but pannu is actually an experienced ubers main who's been writing analysis on natdex mons, he even just got his ladybug (badge). While mammalu beating fat may have been a surprise, and showed us mamm can def compete in this tier to some extent, mamm is a doubles main. Because of all of pannu's credentials for being good here, as well as the fact he can def play well when serious, I'm giving pannu the edge here. (Congrats on the ladybug btw!)
Gen 8 National Dex Same Six : ThirdStrongestMole vs 100%GXE - Now while I did actually hear from someone that the ThirdStrongestMole is good, as only the 3rd strongest mole, he probably has a gxe of like 97% or 98%, and with his 100% gxe, Gxe is strong even beyond the world of moles, and is one of the best players in this community, and perhaps this tournament. Even though gxe lost last week, idt mole played last week, and because gxe is goated, I will favor him here.

Gen 8 STABmons + Almost Any Ability : Nol vs Atha - I feel this is a similar case to Nol vs icemaster last week, nol plays against a goat in their respective tier, in a tier idt nol has much experience in by comparison. Atha should win.
Gen 8 STABmons + Mix and Mega : emillight vs fabwooloo - Emillight is apparently pretty new, having joined only last year yet already having the position of driver in the om room, and they seem to play mostly oms and natdex. However, joey has been part of the tp community, and even omm community by extension for longer than emillight's been on ps. Idrk how good or bad emillight is as a player, but joey definitely has more experience in this tier and general omms, so he should take this.

Bring 10 Pick 6 Random Battles w/ Dynamax : RustySheriffBadge vs Expulso - Happened. Expulso really said "its high noon" in a standoff by taking it to 3 games. Now he's the new sheriff in town.
Best of 3 No Team Preview Gen 6 /7/ 8 OU : myjava vs airfare - Def an hl match. A match between 2 solid ou mains who have def shown that they can play, myjava having a great record in blt, and airfare being generally pretty experienced in the tier and taking the win last week vs another good player. Although... airfare's games last week were... interesting to say the least. In both of his wins, he was down for most of the game and reverse swept with his last mon, so although he won, I think he could have played better. Based on what I've seen, I think I'm gonna say your personal java is the better player, though it wouldn't surprise me if the fare in the air wins it.
CaMonotype : Instruct vs temp - Contradictory to what the name implies, temp has been in the tours and tp community for a long time, is an all around solid player, and definitely has his share of experience in various omms, while instruct, as surprisingly not instructed to do so, mostly plays rands. Temp being as good a player as he is, and having experience in the tier, I think will win this.
Gen 8 Doubles NU : Crunchman vs SingleThunder - Ok, crunchman's team last week was heat, I loved it. Now while I had heard and seen SingleThunder is a good doubles player... they're good, not great. Their showing vs shadow wasn't great. Crunchman on the other hand is a great doubles main, having done well in doubles for blt and quite a few other doubles related endeavors, and based on the team he brought last week, I'd say he's taken to this tier quite well. Despite the fact singlethunder has support that crunchman wishes he had, I think crunchman still has the edge here due to simply being the better doubles player. In this case, a crunch will hit harder than a single thunder, on top of that, crunch is guaranteed to hit too!
Gen 8 National Dex Ubers w/ No Obtainable Formes : 7u9i2 vs Fc - Solid ubers main vs goated ubers main. If it wasn't clear which one is which, 7u9i2 is solid, Fc is goated. While it makes me happy to see the underrated player 7u9i2 playing the tier he mains, it sucks that it had to be against someone as goated as fc. Since I keep saying he's goated, idt its a mystery as to who I think wins here. Sorry 7u9i2.
Gen 8 National Dex Same Six : RaJ.Shoot vs Leru - Raj is a decent player overall who should have decent support from his team, but ok, hear me out, and I know it didn't work last time but... Leru has 2 trophies. In general I think Leru is the better player here, and there's also the fact that your success in this tier can often depend on how good/unconventional the sets you're using are. Leru definitely used plenty of unconventional sets last week so that's another reason why I think he wins here.
