NOC Town of Salem 2 Mafia: Revival - WON BY THE MAFIA AND THE WITCH

Good game everyone. I did join this mainly to fill honestly I did not intend to join another NOC for the rest of the year but ended up playing a bigger role than I expected.

I saw some new faces that I'm excited to see in future games, you all played well! I couldn't post like that in my first game at all so it's impressive. :blobwizard:


This game was full of twists and I had a rather difficult start. Having to save myself from a crime I didn't commit is unfortunate, I was just a poor information role :blobsad: . I managed to survive the day and aura guardian barely did it as well. A fairy made an extremely scummy comment and we capitalized on it without having any idea about her actual alignment. When I saw the joey post confirming a third transporter I thought we lost already if they follow a confirmed town, there is no realistic way of beating that without insane luck. The first morning during D3, before I even woke up, a lot of people already claimed to Hydro so the game got really complicated for us. Fortunately thanks to I think it was Aura Guardian? I may misremember but we used hipnotist action on ourselves thanks to his idea which paid well because it helped me reach a solid position in town. Lechen killing des was big because that's 1 out of 3 transporters down.

Once I infiltrated towncore I shamelessly planned the actions and pushed the slots I considered easier to misvote, the first thing with immediate results and the second was paving the road for a Miyami/Celever misvote. I still have no idea how Jalmont managed to convince Hydro but great job! That AirC vote without changing the actions that made no sense anymore without him gave us a realistic chance of winning. I think town leaders had a hard job because of the high power level of the game, it's hard to plan correctly at times and you have to consider a lot of things.

Last day I think town couldn't adapt well to returning to NOC, can't blame them this isn't an OC for a reason because whisper mechanic can't replace group chat so townies just get bored. The thread was so scum infested I was having trouble forming something convincing with so many dumb theories over there, I felt the urge to do one myself! Luckily I didn't do any dumb theory because that's what scum do and I did nothing wrong this game :blobuwu: I even gave a 2/3 accurate read and shot scum!
I did misplay by choosing to post the Saturday when I was extremely angry for game unrelated reasons so my posts probably came up weird and made me loss credibility. I chose to try to pocket Celever and cause a Miyami vote. Celever was unfortunately too lonely in thread, I've lived that one before, and unfortunately for him made the wrong decision but I still think he played well and did his best that day.



I do think this setup in particular was town favored but number wise it punishes mistakes a lot. It's based on the game TOS and tries to emulate the best way it can while bringing it to the forums. However it gives me the feeling that for it to work in forum you need to deviate slightly more from the TOS formula.

- Either 15 players or the First day without vote makes balance awkward, maybe both. It feels like it needs just an extra number for balance to be significantly improved. Like I don't know how to explain but I don't feel like you changing the distribution without changing the number of players help or at least don't start without a vote.
- This could be either a full OC or a full NOC, in between it's hard. Whisper as a mechanic is not as fun as standard OC.

- Randomized when there is a lack of balance in roles creates situations that in the actual game would have been a funny anecdote but in a game that can last weeks it can get frustrating. Despite saying this I think randomized is fine and I can't imagine a scum team working properly without it being randomized with these roles so the problem would be the balance.

Great recap post Alice. I think my solution to the skew is a slightly different option, which is having a N0. The game is balanced with town having strong roles but scum having the numbers advantage. At the moment the numbers advantage is too great though. I think it would be beneficial for this to be N0 game, where everyone can use their abilities except for kp before D1, which has a real vote. It maintains the spirit of the balance, with scum retaining a big numbers advantage, but also gives town an additional night of mech to mechsolve with and makes the number disparity slightly less. ToS is always gonna be a mechsolve oriented game. I think it swings the needle a bit more toward the centre in an honest fashion.

And also get rid of whispers but I mean, I think we all agree with that lol. This game was fun on the 2 days we played NOC!

Would this be any different? A no vote and shortened day 1 is basically the same as starting with a night. I guess the difference is what Roxie did causing literally everyone to target them lol.
