Timid Nature

- Volt Switch
- Sludge Bomb

[SET COMMENTS]

By equipping Choice Scarf, Toxtricity becomes a competent revenge killer and cleaner with consistently higher firepower than other fast Electric-types like Choice Scarf Rotom-C and Hisuian Electrode thanks to Punk Rock-boosted Boomburst and Overdrive. This set is far less common than Shift Gear and Choice Specs, which can translate to surprise KOes against ordinary revenge killers like Paldean Tauros-F and Salazzle. Volt Switch ensures that Toxtricity can punish the likes of Copperajah and Coalossal, which easily tank Toxtricity's other attacks if they're healthy enough. While Toxtricity rarely needs to use Sludge Bomb, it 2HKOes Wo-Chien, Florges, and, after Stealth Rock, Decidueye. The move's poison chance also puts pressure on specially bulky foes like Gastrodon and Goodra, limiting their ability to switch into Toxtricity long-term. Snarl 2HKOes Golurk and Palossand and OHKOes Hoopa, but it's awful to lock into and easier to punish than Sludge Bomb. Furthermore, Toxtricity would rather have its teammates handle the former two and wear the latter down with Volt Switch before finishing it off with Overdrive. Tera Normal Boomburst's power reaches screaming heights, 2HKOing foes like Florges and specially defensive Gastrodon from full and OHKOing Pokemon like Venusaur after some chip damage. Terastallizing also gives Boomburst the strength necessary to always OHKO offensive foes like Skuntank, Tatsugiri, and Ambipom, improving Toxtricity's reliability as a revenge killer and late-game threat.

Choice Scarf Toxtricity fits well on offensive teams, which value the unique role compression it offers and don't mind its relative lack of defensive utility. Until Toxtricity is in a position to finish a weakened foe or team off, it should play second fiddle to more dedicated wallbreakers like Decidueye, Paldean Tauros-F, and Meloetta. Toxtricity is great at getting these Pokemon on the field safely thanks to Volt Switch, and a well-timed double switch against an incoming Ground-type like Palossand can give them even more opportunities to threaten the opposition. Paldean Tauros-F and Meloetta commonly run Choice Scarf sets too, which may lull typical revenge killers like Salazzle into lowering their guard against Toxtricity. Dark-types like Bombirdier and Brute Bonnet are excellent partners for a few reasons: they punish Ghost-types like Hoopa looking to exploit Boomburst and do well at wearing down other walls like Coalossal. Mudsdale is a good switch-in to Copperajah, sponges priority attacks from the likes of Skuntank and Arcanine, and sets Stealth Rock to help Toxtricity 2HKO foes like Meloetta. In return, Toxtricity offensively checks Water-types like Paldean Tauros-W and Milotic. While Toxtricity does resist Flying-, Electric- and Fighting-type attacks, it prefers not switching into them so it can more easily pivot and stay out of KO range against priority users. Pokemon with similar resistances to Toxtricity, such as Duraludon and Galarian Articuno, can tank the aforementioned attacks while still applying substantial offensive pressure in its stead. Bulkier Pokemon like Alolan Sandslash and Gligar can also accomplish this, making up for their passivity by gradually wearing teams down with moves like Knock Off, Spikes, and Toxic. Galarian Articuno and Gligar also form VoltTurn cores with Toxtricity, keeping foes on the back foot and punishing predictable switches.

By equipping Choice Scarf, Toxtricity becomes a competent revenge killer and cleaner with consistently higher firepower than other fast Electric-types like Choice Scarf Rotom-C, Kilowattrel, and Hisuian Electrode thanks to Punk Rock-boosted Boomburst and Overdrive. Toxtricity has more surprise factor than common (you want to mention why it could be such a surprise factor; the majority of people will generally expect Shift Gear.) , admittedly faster Choice Scarf users like Meloetta and the aforementioned Rotom-C, which can help it get the jump on offensive threats like Paldean Tauros-W and Salazzle. Volt Switch ensures that Toxtricity can punish the likes of Copperajah and Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro, which easily tank Toxtricity's other attacks if they're healthy enough. (tbh you could mention something like snarl in the fourth here too; lets you hit golurk and deci for alright damage and fish for drops. Since Toxt basically only needs 3 moves, mentioning this as a niche OO is fine.) Furthermore, Toxtricity would rather have its teammates handle the former two and wear the latter down with Volt Switch before finishing it off with Overdrive. Running a Timid nature allows Toxtricity to outspeed Kilowattrel and Choice Scarf Hoopa. (feel like unless you can make a justification on modest being an alternative there is no reason to add this; most people will likely just assume timid is ran to be as fast as possible anyways, since toxt is not that fast in the first place.) Tera Normal Boomburst's power reaches screaming heights, 2HKOing foes like Florges and specially defensive Gastrodon from full and others like Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro and Duraludon after some chip damage. Terastallizing also gives Boomburst the strength necessary to always OHKO offensive foes like Skuntank, Tatsugiri, and Ambipom, improving Toxtricity's reliability as a revenge killer and late-game threat.

Dark-types like Bombirdier and Brute Bonnet are excellent partners for a few reasons: they punish Ghost-types (such as?) looking to exploit Boomburst, break through defensive Psychic-types such as Galarian Slowbro and Bronzong, and do well at wearing down other walls like Copperajah and Coalossal. While Toxtricity does resist Flying-, Electric- and Fighting-type attacks, it prefers not switching into them so it can more easily pivot and stay out of KO range against priority users. (You mention how av galarbro and copper can provide serious issues for toxt in the first sentence; would it not make sense to mention some specfic counters to these two, like muds and K9? You could mention some other synergizes here too; ie Muds can set up rocks for toxt to help chip down switchins to boomburst and also pivot into flying electric and fighting-type attacks decently well and k9 can beenfit from toxt getting it in to setup and wallbreak via volt switch? Just some examples, you could substitute it with others but those were the two that came to my head.)
