Toxtricity

Toxtricity
Type:
/

Base Stats: 75 HP / 98 Atk / 70 Def / 114 SpA / 70 SpD / 75 Spe
Abilities: Punk Rock | Plus | Technician

Notable moves:
  • Boomburst
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Overdrive
  • Drain Punch
  • Fire Punch
  • Volt Switch
  • Hex
  • Venoshock
  • Snarl
  • Nuzzle
  • Stored Power
  • Shift Gear
Pros:

  • Great offensive capabilities in solid base 114 SpA combined with Punk Rock to boost its already strong moves.
  • Boomburst is an incredibly powerful and spammable move, already stronger than its STABs, and it becomes even better with Terastallization.
  • Good user of choice items, as it has access to Volt Switch to keep up momentum.
  • Shift Gear can help Toxtricity relatively mid Speed to go for a sweep.
Cons:

  • Its typing isn't great, Toxtricity doesn't benefit from its Poison-type for the most part, giving it some unnecesary weaknesses.
  • As said before, having mediocre base 75 Speed for a breaker can be dangerous and harder to play with.
  • Has very bad longevity, it gets weakened easily even by resisted attacks.

Terastallize Potential:
One of the best offensive terastallize options, getting STAB on Boomburst with tera
is huge for its damage output. Bursting through even resisted targets. Toxtricity doesn't always need to terastallize to break, but its benefits are truly amazing when getting through big walls like Scream Tail, Florges, Gastrodon and such.

Potential Sets:

Choice Specs
Toxtricity @ Choice Specs
Ability: Punk Rock
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Boomburst
- Overdrive
- Snarl / Sludge Bomb

This set aims to click Boomburst and make holes in the opponent's team. Choice Specs turns its moves into a nuke, and the added power of STAB when tera push this even further. Volt Switch used to pivot and Overdrive hits super effective targets harder, 4th move its mostly a filler, but Snarl gets the Punk Rock boosts and can be better against Ghost types such as Brambleghast, whereas Sludge Bomb may be used to fish for poison chance, since Boomburst hits Grass types slightly harder already.

Here some nasty calcs I've made when checking its damage output with Tera normal Boomburst:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Punk Rock Toxtricity Boomburst vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Blissey: 342-403 (47.8 - 56.4%) -- 86.7% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Punk Rock Toxtricity Boomburst vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Hippowdon: 394-465 (93.8 - 110.7%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Punk Rock Toxtricity Boomburst vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Gastrodon: 364-429 (85.4 - 100.7%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

Choice Scarf
Toxtricity @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Punk Rock
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Boomburst
- Overdrive
- Snarl / Sludge Bomb

Choice Scarf can be used instead to mitigate its mediocre Speed into a powerful revenge killer, same moveset as the Specs set but played differently. Check which fits better on your team and when playing with Toxtricity.

Shift Gear
Toxtricity @ Throat Spray / Life Orb
Ability: Punk Rock
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe or 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest / Rash Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shift Gear
- Overdrive
- Boomburst
- Snarl / Drain Punch

Shift Gear makes Toxtricity a potential sweeper, this set aims to setup at the proper time to again, click Boomburst and destroy. Life Orb is good for inmediate damage whereas Throat Spray can boost its damage further in the next turn when using one of its attacking moves. Drain Punch is mainly there to hit Blissey, since you miss the 2HKO with no Specs, and potentially Magnezone, taking advantage of the attack boost provided by Shift Gear which otherwise Toxtricity doesn't utilise.

Leave comments, suggestions, and discussion on Toxtricity! One of the most fun beneficiaries of terastallization in SV UU meta. ^^

Even though Toxtricity packs quite a punch, it faces competition from Sandy Shocks and has trouble sweeping due to its coverage. It also on the slower side and is challenging set up a shift gear due to its frailty. Plus it has severe problems with Iron Thorns, Toedscruel and Gastrodon. Regarding choiced sets, getting locked into Boomburst can be a grave mistake with Poltergeist and Gengar every where.
