We're making Slowpoke sets over Slowking sets now? Goddamn Slowking gets no love.
Try out a TR Gallade, he isn't able to abuse it as well as some others because of his decent speed. But he provides some pretty decent resists some TR teams lack and also the highest physical attack of the TR starters which is actually a luxury. Drain Punch, lots of support options and good special defense can also allow Gallade to stay in the game abit longer than most would think.Been testing out a Trick Room team recently, and Hydreigon has been giving my team problems. Well, not so much the TR sweepers, but the TR starters. Most of them tend to be weak to either Dark type attacks (though Hydreigon doesn't always carry them), or Focus Blast. Eviolite Porygon-2 EV'd for physical defense primarily can't take a specs Focus Blast.
-Hit hard & fast (obvious)I'm going to be making my first TR team and I was wondering, what does a good TR lead need to accomplish, aside from setting up TR?
I have a Jolly Mew, would that be decent?
I suppose most suspect Mew as a special attacker or a support Pokemon.
The best TR leads aren't supposed to set up TR.
Celebi, Jirachi, and Mew are good examples. All are bulky, have nice typings (getting hit hard by tar is not too bad when all 3 can OHKO with certain moves; not so true for Celebi but oh well), all learn U-turn, all learn SR, and all are not really optimal candidates for TR at first glance (which helps decieve the opponent, which is very crucial for TR). Iron Ball helps, though.

I really like Trick Room, so expanding it with Macho Brace and Iron Ball sounds interesting - especially fling Iron Ball would be an interesting way to stay constantly ahead of the opponent.
How specifically do these items work? Does it change priority, affect speed stat, etc? Also what does Lagging Tail do?
Macho Brace halves Spe and gives extra EVs (irrelevant for competitive battling), Iron Ball also halves Spe but is immensely powerful when flung, and Lagging Tail makes the pokemon move last in its priority bracket, making it pretty much useless outside of a Prankster Trick.
I am under the belief that trick room teams are the best team type in the metagame right now, and that none of us have explored their potential quite as much as we could have.
