Water, Water/Bug, Water/Fire

Submission Ends: 1st of January
Do note Volcanion is Fire/Ice now, so it works out that we have no Water/Fire mons right now.

Pokemon: Politoed
Type:

BST: 100 (+10) / 60 (-15) / 100 (+25) / 110 (+20) / 100 / 100 (+30) (BST: 570)
Abilities: Water Absorb / Liquid Voice / Drizzle
New Moves: Recover, Boomburst, Thunder
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Now Politoed regains its niche as a great rain setter with solid 100 / 100 / 100 bulk, a much better speed tier, and a strong special attack stat. It now has Recover to give it longevity along with Thunder to abuse the rain and hit opposing Water-types. Boomburst may have a niche use with Liquid Voice but Drizzle is generally preferred. Politoed still has trouble with Ferrothorn though, and while it has good speed, many other threats either have the same speed tier or have better speed.
Sample moveset:
Politoed @ Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald / Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Thunder
- Recover

Pokemon: Masquerain
Type:
/

BST: 80 (+10) / 60 / 75 (+13) / 135 (+35) / 110 (+28) / 110 (+30) (BST: 570)
Abilities: Intimidate / Levitate / Compoundeyes
New Moves: Hurricane, Taunt
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Masquerain is an amazing Quiver Dancer with great stats and access to three very useful abilities. Intimidate weakens physical attackers to help patch up its lower physical bulk, Levitate gives it an immunity to Ground-type moves and lets it avoid Spikes/Toxic Spikes, and Compoundeyes gives its Hydro Pump perfect accuracy along with giving Hurricane and Blizzard 91% accuracy. Water/Ice/Flying coverage provides almost perfect neutral coverage, while Roost gives reliable recovery. Since Masquerain will likely forego Roost for Quiver Dance + 3 attacks, this leaves it susceptible to being worn down, especially by Stealth Rock and attacks that target its lower physical bulk.
Sample moveset:
Masquerain @ Life Orb / Icium-Z / Flynium-Z
Ability: Compoundeyes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Pokemon: Kingler
Type:
/

BST: 100 (+45) / 140 (+10) / 115 / 50 / 90 (+40) / 75 (BST: 570)
Abilities: Swift Swim / Moxie / Tough Claws
New Moves: Flare Blitz, Outrage, Aqua Jet
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Kingler is a powerful physical attacker with good physical bulk and decent special bulk. Swift Swim makes it a terror in the rain, Moxie allows it to snowball and sweep, and Tough Claws makes its attacks hit even harder. It has Swords Dance to boost its attack to obscene levels as well. Crabhammer, Flare Blitz, and Outrage make nice attacking moves with great neutral coverage except for Water/Fairy and Dragon/Fairy 'mons, and Aqua Jet can be used for priority. As powerful as it is, it has no reliable recovery and can be worn down with Stealth Rock, Flare Blitz recoil, and Ground-type moves, and it has an awkward speed stat.
Sample moveset:
Kingler @ Choice Band
Ability: Moxie / Tough Claws
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Crabhammer
- Flare Blitz
- Outrage
- Aqua Jet

Pokemon: Wailord
Type:

BST:
150 Hp (-20)/110 Atk (+20)/100 Def (+55)/60 SpA (-30)/100 SpD (+55)/50 Spe (-10)=570 BST (+70)
Abilities:
Pressure/Poison Heal/Unaware (HA)
New Moves: Slack Off, Defog & U-Turn
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: I don't know what other typing could this THICC boi gain, so that's the reason of Mon-Water-type. One of the things that really frustates me about this fat-ass whale is its AWFUL bulk even being called "lord" and being also ouclassed by any other defensive water mon doesn't help at all. Well, not anymore: Now it has really good 150/100/100 mixed bulk, letting it to abuse better its great mono-Water typing and its new defensive movepool aditions on Slack Off and Defog. Its new defensive abilities also helps the whale a lot, making it either as a stalling machine with PHeal and Toxic Orb or just a sweeper stopper with Unaware. It also gains more offensive presence with its new 110 attack, but it misses being able to hit Grass mons with Ice Beam, so U-Turn should help Wailord with these.
Sample moveset: Idk
Pokemon: Golisopod
Type:

BST:

Abilities:
Swift Swim/Multiscale/Tough Claws (HA)
New Moves: Pursuit, Cross Chop & U-Turn
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Another mon that should be great but GF made it suck for no reason (seriously, I'm getting tired of these). Anyways, with even better bulk, attack and speed this guy can do all the roles it couldn't do due to its atrocious ability and speed: Swift Swim is a neat option for both Golisopod and Rain teams, since it boosts Golisopod's average speed and gives rain a good answer to grass mons; Multiscale isn't the best abilty this guy can offer, but it gives it a better time trying to set up with SD and then we have last but not worst Tough Claws, wich Golisopod benefits from a lot, since almost every physical move it gets makes contact, making coverage options like Drill Run, Cross Chop and Poison Jab really good options for surpising conmon switch ins like Tpex or Ferrothorn. It also gained new coverage options on Pursuit (sees psychic, ghost and dark mons), the aformentioned Cross Chop (we all hate ferrothorn, don't we?) and U-Turn (eat my STAB Tough Claws boosted momentum gainer).
Sample moveset:
Golisopod @ Life Orb

Nooooooooooooooooooo
Someone already did Water/Fire Octillery? Fuck my life
You can do it too, pretty sure!

Either way will do:
  • Pure Water - Donphan
  • Water / Bug - Araquanid
  • Water / Fire - Salazzle
Donphan

105 / 75 / 90 / 135 / 90 / 75 (570 BST)
Abilities: Sheer Force, Analytic, Adaptability (HA)
New Moves: Hydro Pump, Water Gun, Ice Beam
Niche: Offensive Spinner and Stealth Rocker with great bulk and typing.
Donphan @ Waterium Z
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

Araquanid

90 / 88 / 92 / 48 / 132 / 60 (510 BST)
Abilities: Water Bubble
New Moves: Recover
Niche: Added bulk, added power and added Speed makes Araquanid an extremely reliable Sticky Web setter, despite it's one dimensional nature.
Araquanid @ Waterium Z / Leftovers
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Liquidation
- Recover
- Sticky Web
- Magic Coat

Salazzle

101 / 71 / 50 / 131 / 60 / 127 (540 BST)
Abilities: Storm Drain
New Moves: Scald, Surf, Earth Power
Niche: Nasty Plot sweeper but suffers from poor coverage.
Dragalge @ Groundium Z
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Nasty Plot

Type: Water
Ability: Tough Claws/Solid Rock HA: Sheer Force
Stats: 85/135/115/45/60/110 BST: 550
New Moves: Play Rough, Aqua Jet, Shell Smash
Niche: Kingler honestly would be a lot higher as its double dance set was decent as is. However, it constricted coverage and having massive powered Sheer Force Liquidation can't quite cut it. So, Playing Rough gives a Sheer Force (but not Tough Claws) option, and Aqua Jet gives the reverse. Shell Smash is the glue to give it tier increases, just remember this thing still dies to any Special move.

Type: Water/Bug
Ability: Intimidate/Swift Swim HA: Lightningrod (just look at the top of that head!)
Stats: 100/65/82/115/82/115 BST: 559
New Moves: Sludge Bomb, Giga Drain, Parting Shot
Niche: Having the niche of intimidate+Parting Shot is an underrated skill. Of course, you could use that Intimidate to set up a QD, doing so with a higher Speed than a certain fire moth, and having the ability to get past Heatran even with less base SpAtk. Of course faking LRod is hard because you won't be intimidating and won't have Pelipper support for Swift Swim. It can still put a damper on Electric types and those who use electric to check this thing, such as RotomW.

Type: Fire/Water
Ability: Sheer Force/Dry Skin HA: Zen Mode (Not included here)
Stats: 110/140/80/35/80/115 BST: 560
New Moves: Liquidation, Ice Punch, Scald
Niche: Much the same as Darmanitan before, you hit hard with Life Orb and Sheer Force's murderous power. Liquidation adds great coverage alongside the Fire STAB and the Fight or Ground move used for coverage, and Ice Punch nails say, airborne dragons who'd resist all 3. 110/80/80 defenses is actually respectable. Scald is for Zen Mode, not that it's getting any attention otherwise here.

Reserving Water Floatzel, Bug/Water Barbaracle

Pokemon: Floatzel
Type: Water
BST: 85 / 110 (+5) / 75 (+20) / 105 (+20) / 75 (+25) / 120 (+5) = 570 BST
Abilities: Swift Swim / Simple (HA)
New Moves: Calm Mind, Stomping Tantrum, Grass Knot
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Bibarel could be so good if only it just had better stats. Simple is such a great ability, don't you agree? Well, knowing this, let's try putting such a good ability on another Sinnoh Water-type Pokemon who would appreciate such a buff: Floatzel. With Simple and great mixed attacking stats, Floatzel can set up using Bulk Up (Swords Dance + Iron Defense) OR Calm Mind (Nasty Plot + Amnesia) and sweep from there, with a memey option in Agility so you outspeed the whole game a couple times over. Floatzel also packs good coverage. Physical with Liquidation, Ice Punch, Crunch/Pursuit, Low Kick, Stomping Tantrum, and Aqua Jet for priority (and Iron Tail and Rock Tomb, too, I guess). Specially, we have Scald/Surf/Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Focus Blast, Grass Knot, and Hidden Power Fire or Electric. Overall, a simple setup sweeper.
Calm Mind:
Floatzel @ Life Orb / Focus Sash
Ability: Simple
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

IVs: 0 Atk

Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up

- Ice Punch
- Aqua Jet / Stomping Tantrum

(Did you know that the very first time I went into an Ultra Wormhole, a shiny Barbaracle appeared?)
Pokemon: Barbaracle
Type: Water/Bug
BST: 72 / 125 (+20) / 115 / 84 (+30) / 86 / 88 (+20) = 570 BST
Abilities: Tough Claws / Sniper / Pickpocket (HA)
New Moves: Leech Life, Aqua Jet, Drill Run
Removed Moves: Ancient Power
Justification/Niche: Get this thing behind Aurora Veil and good ham with Shell Smash. That's really all I can say.You have all the moves you could ask for really, Tough Claws-boost Leech Life, Liquidation, Drill Run, Cross Chop, Low Kick, Poison Jab, Return, Shadow Claw, and even Grass Knot is a contact move to surprise bulky Waters. Some other non-contact coverage lies in Stone Edge and Ice Beam. Oh and you can set up Rocks and Taunt things, I guess.
Shell Smash Sweeper (Physical):
Barbaracle @ Waterium Z / Rockium Z
Ability: Tough Claws

Pokemon: Lumineon
Type: Water
BST: 100(+31)/69/121(+45)/89(+20)/86/105(+14) (460)
Abilities: Serene Grace, Gooey, Hydration
New Moves: Earth Power, Nasty Plot, Taunt
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Lumineon have some great bulk. With 100/121/86 defense, Lumineon can be a difficult pokemon to take down. With Serene Grace plus Scald, it going to be spreading burns to the opposing team. It also have some cool side moves to help it out like Defog, Taunt, and Nasty Plot.

Pokemon: Ariados
Type: Water/Bug
BST: 100(+30)/115(+25)/100(+30)/60/100(+30)/60(+20) (545)
Abilities: Prankster, Water Absorb
New Moves: Liquidation, Glare, Spikes
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Ariados is a one annoying little bug. With good bulk and access to Prankster, it can support its team. With moves like Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Sticky Web, and Glare, it can set up hazards with controlling the enemy speed.

Pokemon: Basculin
Type: Water/Fire
BST: 70/117(+25)/89(+24)/80/55/123(+25) (534)
Abilities: Strong Jaw
New Moves: Fire Fang, Psychic Fangs, Ice Fang
Removed Moves: None
Justification/Niche: A very good wallbreaker. With base 117 attack and 123 base speed, Basculin will bite its way to victory. The elemental fangs help this pokemon out a lot. With STAB & Strong Jaw boosted Fire Fang, Basculin will be able to spam this move a lot.

Pokemon: Octillery
Type:

BST: 90 (+15) / 105 / 90 (+15) / 125 (+20) / 90 (+15) / 65 (+20) (570)
Abilities: Technician | Sniper | Skill Link
New Moves: Water Shuriken, Nasty Plot, Earth Power
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Although it seems pale compared to Mega Blastoise at first, Octillery's access to Nasty Plot will help it to get a much needed Special Attack boost. Technician gives more power to Charge Beam and Mud Shot, but Skill Link can give Octillery a significant advantage of Water Shuriken, as well as Bullet Seed and Rock Blast as coverages. It also have decent bulk of 90 / 90 / 90, which while average, it does allows Octillery to safely switch in against opposing Fire-type, Water-type or Ice-type.

Pokemon: Masquerain
Type:
/

BST: 90 (+20) / 60 / 72 (+10) / 113 (+13) / 115 (+33) / 120 (+40) (570)
Abilities: Intimidate | Prankster | Tinted Lens
New Moves: Hurricane, Taunt, Focus Blast
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Masquerain will play as a fast sweeper with Quiver Dance, making it a fast Water-type Volcarona. While the latter have a much stronger Special Attack, Masquerain have better bulk and is faster, but Water-type is not really the best Offensive STAB compared to Fire-type. That is to say, it can either cripple most Physical attackers with Intimidate, set up Sticky Webs, Taunt or Toxic with Prankster and use Roost for a quick heal, or Tinted Lens to punish switch-ins. That is to say, Physical moves can still hurt it badly, and Accelerock can put an end to it, especially if it is STAB or from a Technician Optimized Lyranroc-Midnight. It also needs Hurricane and Focus Blast, lest Optimized Unaware Hariyama and Steel-types will put an end into it.

Pokemon: Slowking
Type:
/

BST: 105 (+10) / 45 (-30) / 90 (+10) / 120 (+20) / 150 (+30) / 60 (+30) (570)
Abilities: Serene Grace | Magic Guard | Regenerator
New Moves: Earth Power, Lava Plume, Hex
Removed Moves: None
Justification/Niche: I am pretty sure someone will objects "But Sam, this will steal Optimized Goodra's job as a Special wall!" Well fear not, both can still do different roles. While Optimized Goodra will take cares of opposing Dragon-types, this Slowking will take care of a majority of Physical sweepers, and when combined with Hex, Ghost-types. The Burn chance from Scald and Lava Plume from Serene Grace is very high and thus neat, but can be problematic against Pokémon that benefit the burn such as Optimized Hariyama and Zangoose (especially the former does to its enormous bulk and not scared of its STAB), but it leaves itself vulnerable to Stealth Rock. It can be solved with Magic Guard or Regenerator, but this is your decision to know what to do with Slowking. It is slow and cannot go faster, but it got Nasty Plot and Slack Off, making it a very threatening wallbreaker at the same time. And consider Slowking's already great Special moveset...

tl;dr, Optimized Slowking becomes a painful Burn spreader or a self-healing bulky sweeper.

EDIT: ...Well blow me down. Snorlax can get Happy Hour as an Event Move, from Munchlax. Welp... we better be careful with the Gyarados submissions here.

Pokemon: Gyarados
Type: Water
Old Stats: 95 / 125 / 79 / 60 / 100 / 81 (530 BST)
New Stats: 90 (-5) / 125 / 85 (+6) / 50 (-10) / 120 (+20) / 95 (+14) (555 BST)
Abilities: Intimidate / Moxie / Guts (HA)
New Moves: Liquidation, Superpower, Roost
Justification/Niche: Rather than increasing his already strong offensive capabilities, increasing his defenses and his Speed make him a much more viable attacker without requiring Dragon Dance. With a Speed tier of 95, he's capable of properly outspeeding things that Tapu Lele can, and will be able to run an effective Scarf set. Liquidation is a slightly more reliable Waterfall with more damage, while Superpower lets him hit one of his greatest nemesis's - Ferrothorn. Roost helps as well for bulky Dragon Dance sets. Just remember that Bounce no longer has STAB, you don't worry about a Rocks weakness, and Electric damage is lesser.

Pokemon: Araquanid
Type: Water/Bug
Old Stats: 68 / 72 / 90 / 50 / 132 / 42 (454 BST)
New Stats: 100 (+32) / 90 (+18) / 120 (+30) / 50 / 172 (+40) / 38 (-4) 574
Abilities: Water Bubble / Drizzle / Regenerator (HA)
New Moves: Swords Dance, Bulk Up, Spikes
Justification/Niche: A way to make Araquanid less one-dimensional is a good thing. Now, Araquanid can run a Swords Dance set and a Hazard setter set with Spikes and USUM access to Sticky Web. Bulk Up is also an available set with Leech Life and its incredible bulk of 100/120/172. Its abilities are still nice, Water Bubble remains its primary way of dealing damage, Drizzle lets it become a more effective supporter on teams alongside its hazard set, and Regenerator gives it better survivability for an extremely tanky Assault Vest set. However, a lack of true recovery means that Araquanid still remains weak to his standard issues in STAB Rock moves, Stealth Rock, and residual damage like Toxic are major problems. Without Water Bubble, its offensive presence is incredibly limited due to a low Special Attack and Speed stat, and below average Attack. It also relies on having free turns to set up in order to effectively function unless on a Banded or Assault Vest set, meaning Taunt can shut it down easily.

Pokemon: Milotic
Type: Water/Fire
Old Stats: 95 / 60 / 79 / 100 / 125 / 81 (530 BST)
New Stats: 105 (+10) / 50 (-10) / 90 (+11) / 110 (+10) / 130 (+5) / 80 (-1) (555 BST)
Abilities: Regenerator / Marvel Scale / Multiscale (HA)
New Moves: Lava Plume, Will-o-Wisp, Calm Mind
Justification/Niche: A defensive tank relying on the odd typing to become a good defensive threat while keeping some offensive presence. Regenerator, Marvel Scale, and Multiscale all provide defensive boons in some form, and Lava Plume/Will-o-Wisp/Scald all can start Burns getting up onto people, alongside basic access to Recover from its base kit. 105/90/130 Defensive stats are also incredible. Calm Mind gives Milotic offensive presence ala Gyarados's access to Dragon Dance. A Calm Mind set with Scald, Lava Plume, and Recover can tank through unprepared teams. However, a weakness to Stealth Rock, Rock moves, and Earthquake sucks for a setup Pokemon. Its abilities do mitigate this, namely Multiscale for Earthquake and Rock attacks and Regenerator for Stealth Rock, but they're still problems either way.

Did you just nerf its stats other than HP? I get that it needs health, and maybe recovery, but that's a steep drop to call love all for 35 HP.

Yes but then it got access to Belly Drum. It can work well with Aqua Jet and its big 130 Attack. (Not that Unaware Musharna and Unaware Hariyama should be scared of that of course.)

Abilities: Serene Grace | Regenerator | Water Absorb
New Moves: Recover, Calm Mind, U-Turn
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Serene Grace Scalds or passive recovery are just two of the main selling points of Optimized Vaporeon. 130 / 80 / 105 bulk is great with its mono Water typing, and with 120 SpA its no passive wall either. Regenerator will usually be its go to ability, and with the addition of U-Turn can run a mean Assault Vest set. Serene Grace sets also have Recover for longivity, and 60% burn chance succckkksss.

Abilities: Tough Claws | Weak Armour | Swift Swim
New Moves: Leech Life, Spikes, Superpower
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Optimized Armaldo is an offensive beast with Tough Claws boosted Leech Life and Liquidation allowing it to bust through any wall that threatens it. SD + 3 Attacks is a potent set, and with it being an offensive Spiker with the tools to threaten defoggers and spinners alike. Itself can also be a spinner.
IDK if it's too late, but Armaldo was already done. Anyways, these are my votes:
Water: Stitch's Wishiwashi
Water/Bug: Origin0's Masquerain
Water/Fire: G-Luke's Clawitzer
