Typing: The Mod

Ethereal
This type would encompass Pokemon who could be categorised as heavenly, spiritual, otherworldly, or pure. With deity connotations this type would be held in similar regard to Dragon, being predominately populated with Legendaries, Mythicals, pseudo-Legendaries, and a select few other Pokemon and have typically higher than average stats. Ethereal could be super effective against types that are associated with 'evil' such as Dark and Ghost. It could also be resisted by types such as Water, Grass, and Heart due to their association with purity.

Potential Pokemon
Meowth line --> Cats have been worshipped throughout history including in the Pokemon universe
Slowpoke line --> Empty head has been likened to enlightenment in the anime
Mew --> Divine birth
Togepi line --> People of the Mirage Kingdom worship Togepi
Chingling line --> Is bred with the Pure Incense
Deoxys --> Otherwordly
Cresselia --> Can be described as heavenly
Shaymin --> Can be seen as pure
Arceus --> Actual god
Zygarde --> Can bring divine-like judgement
Guardian deities --> Literally called deities
Cosmog line --> Worshipped in ancient Alola

Mirror type
Unlike some other typings, Mirror type can't be defined as "cut-off for another typing" because it's more related to something abstract. It's a type about mirroring, copying and of course, the most important, reflecting. A lot of Pokemon would benefit from it, especially because it will probably be a good defensive typing (Real mirrors reflect heat and light, so Fire and Fairy resistances, etc). For example, Carbink would no longer compete with Regirock, Golem, Gigalith, Aggron, etc for the defensive Rock-type niche, with Mirror/Fairy typing it would be solid (no pun intended). Same thing with Avalugg or Cryogonal, who wouldn't be simply defensive Ice-types anymore. Mirror would serve as a typing that doesn't hit many things super-effectively, but isn't resisted by many things either. A neutral STAB, maybe similar to Normal.

Plus, if we add Light type (we probably will at one point), then Mirror type will be the opposite to it, and be immune to it.

Possible/Example Pokemon: Carbink, Diancie, Mega Sableye, Mega Steelix, Vanilluxe line, Alolan Sandslash line, Avalugg, Cryogonal, Grumpig line, Necrozma, Starmie line, Dialga, Palkia (have a reflective part in their bodies like polished ice or a jewel)
Wobbuffet line (closely related to Mirror Coat)
Mr. Mime (closely related to Reflect/Light Screen)
Chatot (closely related to Mirror Move)
Electrode (learns Light Screen+Mirror Coat by level-up, and "mirrors" Pokebals)
Mew, Ditto (closely related to Transform, mirroring/copying the opponent)
NOT Mirror Pokemon: Minior, Steelix, Lunatone, Solrock, Espeon, Xatu, Aegislash, Ferrothorn, Mega Ampharos
Example Moves: Mimic, Mirror Move, Mirror Shot, Mirror Coat, Transform, Copycat, Reflect, Light Screen, Barrier, Reflect Type

Light, Space and Dinosaur typings are allowed.

Space
I'm so fucking original

OK, so, as space, cosmic is related to Pokemon that come from or are related to space and other dimensions outside the Earth, or are just alien looking or smth. This type would also control the massive amount of Psychic mons there're that are related to Space and similars but doesn't have a concrete relation to psychic powers n stuff.
Type Effectiveness ideas:
Offensive:
Super Effective vs: Fire, Water, Electric, Flying.
You cannot make neither fire nor water at the vacuum space because of the lack of oxygen, electric doesn't have any way to move were there isn't any conductor and flying because you cannot fly at the space without special equipments to not die or get injured.
Not Very Effective vs: Ice, Steel, Rock.
Ice is generated at space and it's stupidly cold there, steel because we use steel made artefacts to safely explore space and rock cause most stuff there are floating rocks that aren't affected by space extreme conditions.
Inmune vs: N/A
Defensive:
Weak to: Psychic, Steel, Ice.
Ice and Steel are explained above, to Psychic because human brains don't stop exploring it.
Resistant to: Fire, Water, Electric, Flying.
Explained above.
Inmune to: N/A
Potential Pokemon:
-All Deoxys forms (Psychic/Space)
-Clefairy line (Fairy/Space)
-Cresselia (Heart or Fairy/Space)
-Necrozma (Space/Psychic)
-Necrozma-Dusk Mane & Solgaleo (Space/Steel)
-Necrozma-Dawn Wings & Lunala (Space/Ghost)
-Necrozma-Ultra (Space/Dragon)
-Cosmog & Cosmoem (Space)
-Jirachi (Steel/Space)
-Elgyem line (Space)
-Palkia (Space/Dragon)
-Hoopa and Hoopa-Unbound (Space/Ghost and Space/Dark respectively)
-Lunatone, Solrock and Minior (Rock/Space)
-Starmie (Water/Space)
-Inkay and Malamar (Space/Water and Space/Dark respectively)
Potential Moves:
-Meteor Mash
-Photon Geyser
-Gravity
-Cosmic Power
-Hyperspace Hole
-Prismatic Laser
-Teleport
-Spacial Rend

Light

Now we know that Fairy time have illumination have attacks, but instead of straight-up separate some of Fairy-type aspect, there are other associated objects that are not Fairy but produces light; sun (which makes Fire/Light) and stars (although those are more Space-type), bulbs, aurora, bioluminescence, photoluminescence (which is photon), and even lasers and beams (what else could you make lasers other than dark-elemental lasers? Light).

So instead, we focus even more on the illumination, flashiness, lasers and beams, but since there are other new types that handles goodness (like Noble-type), light can also be associated with deception and misdirection. Beside, our friend Necrozma, a Pokemon associated with light, especially via Ultra Necrozma and even moreso Light That Burns the Sky, is no good guy in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, even if misunderstood.

Potential Effectiveness
Light's archetype will be double-edged like real life light; if handled right, it will greatly help you out, but abusing it or expecting it to be harmless while it really is harmful will greatly backfire. Thus, Light should be more on offense (moreso than Dark-type), but also have at least one weakness for each resistance Light have.

Offense Example:
Dark (2x): It should be obvious. I prefer it to be it not mutual as the only way for darkness to take over in real life is to just turn off the sources of light. Darkness is lack of light.
Ghost (2x): Unlike Fairy, light can hurt fictional ghosts as ghosts are associated with darkness to some extent, thus need to stay away from sunlight and other intense light sources to stay alive.
Steel (2x): While metal can reflect light, excessive light can become hinderful if you wear a full set of armor, as you will end up blinding yourself further.
Normal (2x): Not even those who wears sunglasses should stare too nearby at any light sources for too long, especially with the sun (and not because of the heat in this case).
Water, Grass and Ice (0.5x): Water reflect light but not as much as mirror does (see below), grass performs photosynthesis, and the sun's sunlight alone will not melt ice and snow; it had to be hot enough to be able to melt them, which is more what Fire-type do.
Mirror (0x): I know that it haven't won yet, but this will be useful for those who persist with Mirror type submission. Anyways, mirror reflect light and lasers better than metal does, so it should be very obvious.
Defense Example:
Dark (Resist): Explained above.
Light (Resist: Have you ever tried to kill light with light? Not possible in real life.
Fairy (Resist): Fairies are associated with light, and are not known to actively make light go away.
Fire (Resist): Fire makes light, so I don't see why a being made of light would be harmed from fire other than excessive heat (hence not immune).
Grass (Vulnerable): Photosynthesis. Why else?
Heart (Vulnerable): A bit of a stretch by itself, but doctors and healers do needs light to heal patients.
Steel (Vulnerable): Now that's what I call mutual; while metals can cause reflection in multiple directions unlike mirror (which can hinder the steel user), it can reflect light just fine.
Mirror (Vulnerable): In case that both this and Mirror type would won. Obvious reason.
Ghost (Immune): I only see a few fictional ghosts capable of manipulating lights, less so as attacks. I think that since they are vulnerable to it, they should not try to get too near them, otherwise attempting to use light energy will cause strain.

Potential Pokémon
Raichu line (not Alolan Raichu): Light Orb for Pikachu.
Staryu line: Have Illuminate as an Ability. Starmie can also use Spotlight. Replace Psychic.
Meganium line: Naturally learns Synthesis and does not have a secondary type. Meganium line have Heart-type now, so ignore this.
Ledian line: According to Emerald Pokedex; "It is said that in lands with clean air, where the stars fill the sky, there live many Ledian. For good reason, they use the light of the stars as energy." Replace Flying.
Lanturn line: Have Illuminate as an Ability, can use Spotlight, and anglers do produce light in real life. Replace Electric.
Bellossom: It lacked secondary typing and it is associated with sunlight and Sun Stone, so why not?
Sunflora (not Sunkern): It is a sunflower, have Solar Power (not all Solar Power users are Grass-type to inform you) and have Morning Sun as Egg Move.
Volbeat: Have illuminate, can use Tail Glow and can use Flash.
Solrock: It is a sun. Fire-type may fit but do not forget that the sun is Earth's biggest source of light. Replace Psychic.
Base Groudon (not Primal Groudon): Heavily associated with sunlight.
Cherrim line: Heavily associated with sunlight does to Flower Gift.
Lumineon (not Finneon): Just the name doesn't seems enough, but it can also learns both Aurora Beam and Signal Beam, and I consider beams, unless if it is strictly elemental like Ice Beam, as light-based attacks.
Cresselia: Help to make good opposite of Darkrai without the need of Fairy-type. May replace Psychic unless if Light-type alone would get too many weaknesses for a defensive Pokémon.
Manaphy: Can learn Tail Glow, and might be able to reflect light well does to being mostly composed of water.
Watchhog: Have Illuminate for some reason. It can also learn Signal Beam.
Lilligant line: Same with Meganium line.
Florges line: Difficult to reason with that, but Floette-Eternal have a signature move called Light of Ruin. It also got multiple moves that associate with light such as Synthesis and Flash.
Xerneas: It can naturally learn Aurora Beam, have Synthesis as an available move and Geomancy is rainbow-colored than typical pink fairy light.
Shiinotic line: Have Illuminate as an Ability, have Flash as an Move and can use Signal Beam, which looks more Light-type than Bug-type.
Xurkitree: Can naturally learn Tail Glow and is something that can illuminate.
Entire Necrozma forms: Come on, it is heavily associated with real light ever since Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon make it more obvious! Or probably just Ultra Necrozma as Light/Dragon, so that Light That Burn the Sky will really be Light-type and hit Dark-type instead of them being ironically immune to it does to the Z-Move's original type (which is Psychic).

Potential Retyped Moves

  • Flash
  • Spotlight
  • Hyper Beam
  • Light of Ruin (possibly moved for signature move of another and released Pokémon)
  • Photon Geyser (and Ultra Necrozma's Light That Burns the Sky)
  • Prismatic Laser
  • Flash Cannon (make Magnet Bomb a Aura Sphere clone will do it anyways)
  • Morning Sun
  • Dazzling Gleam
  • Signal Beam
  • Laser Focus
  • Simple Beam
  • Perhaps Light clones of Solar Beam and Solar Blade too.

Trickster
This type is for pokemon that can pull pranks, trick things, or are sneaky.

These include:
Sableye
Liepard
Murkrow/Honchkrow
Zoruark (A lot of dark types)
Klefki (Maybe more prankster pokemon)
Hoopa (Not sure about Unbound)
Rotom

It could be super effective against Fightings as they are easy to trick.
It won't hit many types hard, so not many types will resist it. Maybe only Dark, as they pull pranks themselves.

They could be weak to Psychic (too smart), Dark (see above), Bug (Pests that ruin plans), and Ghost (haunts people for doing bad things)
They could resist Fighting. Not very good defensively.

Actually its part Heart-type now
My mistake. Just a suggestion though; I would appreciate some sort of spreadsheet or a table so that we can keep track without having to go thorough the many pages of this thread.

Also... I feel like Healing Terrain's effects are too weak to be useful. Maybe that instead of delayed Dark type Status Moves, make it getting rid of Poison/Toxic, Sleep, Freeze, Burn and Paralysis for in-battle Pokémon of both sides after a turn, to fit the name much more.

PLASTIC TYPE
You know an element of the world that one cannot escape, no matter how hard you try? Plastic is a concept that surrounds our modern world. It is the most important element of our existence. Why does Pokemon not represent it? Why does it scorn the very material that makes up its cartridges?

What is Plastic type?
Plastic type is things that are made of plastic, things that sort of look like plastic, things that represent plastic, and things related to plastic. Plastic cousins, I suppose.

Type Relations:
SE Towards: Water (plastic pollutes the water), Grass (littering plastic in a forest is bad for the environment), Fairy (fairies cannot comprehend the modern might of plastic), Ground (dirt also gets messed up by littering plastic due to the weird plastic chemicals or something)
NVE Towards: Rock (you can't exactly hurt rocks with plastic), Steel (see the last reason), Flying (birds aren't big fans of plastic in my experience, also have you ever tried to throw a plastic bottle at a bird? It doesn't work out, my dude), Poison (plastic can't stop poison)
Weak Against: Steel (steel can cut plastic), Poison (there are bacteria that eat plastic, and poison is the closest there is to a 'bacteria" type), Bug (cockroaches and stuff can eat plastic sometimes, they're really resilient little fellas)
Resistant Against: Fighting (you can't punch plastic), Psychic (plastic is hard to bend with your mind, there's a reason they use metal spoons), Water (water cannot stop pollution on its own)

Retyped Pokemon:
Voltorb line (Plastic/Electric) - It's not made of steel, but it's an inanimate object. It's probably made of plastic.
Porygon line (Plastic) - Computers often include plastic components, and also the Porygon line sort of looks like it would feel like plastic if you touched it.
Donphan (Plastic/Ground) - It looks like a tire and rubber is sort of like plastic if you think about it.
Spoink line (Psychic/Plastic) - Springs can be made of plastic.
Bronzor line (Steel/Plastic)
Trubbish line (Poison/Plastic) - Trash bags are often filled with plastic waste.
Goomy line (Dragon/Plastic) - Plastic can be molten into a liquid sometimes, and when it does it is often slimy, like Goomy and its ilk are.
Clawitzer (Water/Plastic) - Water guns are oftentimes made of plastic.

Retyped moves:
Conversion
Barrier
Conversion 2
Role Play
Recycle
Pay Day
Laser Focus
Substitute
Present
Sharpen
Power Trick
Techno Blast (without any Drive)

Some New Moves:
Bump - Plastic - Physical - 50 - makes contact : A physical blow where the target is bumped into.

Plate Crush - Plastic - Physical - 90 - doesn't make contact : A large plastic sheet appears, before crushing the target flat.

Dollhouse - Plastic - Status - --- - doesn't make contact : Turns the foe into a Plastic type.

Molten Blast - Plastic - Special - 130 - Plastic overheat clone.

Z-Move - CARBONIC CALAMITY

Sound
(We all saw it coming.)
There are many Pokemon already based off of sound, which is portrayed with Pokemon based off of instruments, or noise itself. This has already been popular for a very long time along with types like Light, but its odd to me how nobody is submitting it. Sound could be a far as a living bell, or just a Pokemon who sings. Now, although every Sound-based move makes sound, that doesn't mean they all need to be Sound type.

Possible Retyped Pokemon:

This one's pretty self-explanatory.

Primarily based around singing

Parrots are known for repetition of human speech, and its signature move is Chatot "Chattering"

Meloetta-Aria: Singing is the main aspect.
Chingling/Chimecho: They are based off of bells.

See Meloetta-Aria

Noibat/Noivern use Echolocation, as well as their ears literally being amps.
Hakamo-o/Kommo-o use their scales to make noise, as shown by its signature move: Clanging Scales.

Based off of crickets, as well as violins.

Primarily based off of roaring, with its then-signature move, Noble Roar.

Tympole/Palpitoad/Seismitoad are based off of vibrations and also using sound waves that are imperceptible to the human ear to communicate.
Primarina is based off of an opera singer, as well as having the signature move Liquid Voice.

Possible Retyped Moves:

Boomburst
Chatter
Disarming Voice
Echoed Voice
Growl
Heal Bell
Hyper Voice
Noble Roar
Perish Song
Relic Song
Roar
Screech
Sing
Now, the thing is, all sound moves may have sound properties, but not all sound-based moves are sound type. moves like Bug Buzz, Grass Whistle, and Parting Shot may be sound-based, but for simplification, they wouldn't change types. Chatter only changes because Chatot is now Sound-Type, and Flying doesn't make much sense for it now.

Possible Type Effectiveness:

Weak to:
,
,
Metal and Electricity are usually used to control sound. Music can also be used to benefit the brain, like listening to music while studying.
Resists:
,
,
Balancing Sound travels normally without any delay through water and air, and for fighting? well...
Does Super Effective damage to:
,
,
A high pitched sound breaks Glass, loud sounds can also disrupt the mind, as well as disrupt fairies, but mostly because Fairy need to be balanced.
Does Not Very Effective damage to:
,
,
Solid and durable objects wont allow sound to go through them, mostly bouncing off.
Is Immune to:
When two sound waves meet, they cancel each other out.

The Glass type!

I'd like something abstract as a typing, but Heart took care of that, so a more physical being would now exist. Introducing the Glass typing!

Cryogonal - Ice/Glass
Avalugg line - Ice/Glass
Bronzong line - Steel/Glass
Mr Mime line - Psychic/Glass
Nihilego - Glass/Poison
Electrode line - Electric/Glass
Rotom Fan - Electric/Glass
Noctowl line - Glass/Flying
Porygon Z line - Glass
Wormaddam Trash - Bug/Glass

Potential Type Effectiveness:

Weaknesses: Fighting, Rock, Electric, Grass
  • Fighting: Punching through glass breaks it
  • Rock: Its literally in a proverb
  • Electric: Lightning makes glass from sand
  • Grass: Idk sticks (This is purely for balancing reasons)
Resistances: Ground, Flying, Fire, Bug,
  • Ground: Glass is made from sand (ground)
  • Flying: Birds are known to crash into glass skyscrapers
  • Fire: Glass is surprisingly heat resistant.
  • Bug: See your windshield when you drive for awhile.
Super-Effective Against: Water, Flying, Psychic, Steel
  • Water: Glass holds water alot
  • Flying: See the ressistance
  • Psychic: idk shattering of the mind(?)
  • Steel: Glass largely replaced Steel as the premium building material for modern buildings
Weak Against: Ice, Fighting, Rock, Grass

Glass is a basic typing, with a few good resistances, while also hitting some important typings super effectively. It is balanced by having weaknesses to very popular offensive types.

Sorry for the delay, but here it is!

Typing: The Mod {Slate #3 (New type, no restrictions!) - Concept vote}

Same thing: Vote for only one and no self-votes. Good Luck to everyone!

P.S. I'm voting for Time typing. I had a hard time choosing between this one, Rubber and Sound, though.

Time

why the fuck does anyone think plastic is a good idea. There are literally no Pokemon made of plastic. None of those retypings make sense. At all. I am a council member, I have authority, and I'm saying Plastic is a stupid idea. You can still vote for it I guess just know that you're being stupid.

also, Gravity Monkey can at least the top two typings be added? I makes balancing stuff easier (also makes polarized voting less of a thing)
hmmmmmmmmm
I'm not sure about this because having to submit, vote and create distribution for moves and stuff is already really intense. I understand that there are a lot of benefits from having multiple types at the same type, but it I don't think that there's gonna be a lot of people voting for a mod if it has over 100 options and almost no limits. BUT, if there are a lot of people that are willing to be active during submission and voting phases and that want two types at the type, it could happen.
