Project Ultra SM Break This Team - WK 48 SKEs tail glow manaphy Rain (Voting)

Garchomp @ Dragonium Z / Rockium Z
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Outrage / Stone Edge
- Swords Dance

When paired with anything that can handle Tang well, this team has a hard time vs chomper. You have to get some predicitions right in order not to lose a mon vs. it which is really hard to do in this case. The mindgames it creates also allow it to set-up rocks vs the team and keep them up quite easily. It paired with something like Torn is deadly for this team.

I'm gonna vote Lele + Steela. I really like Tapu lele in the metagame right now as it right royally destroies many slower teams and vs this All it needs to do is force heatran in via calm mind. Use fightium and its good game from there unless lele has taken enough damage for lando to revenge. Steela just offers solid support in dealing with lando while spreading seeds to force swtichs and weaken everything for Lele

Continuing on with the theme of Finchinator, this week's team is the infamous Aggron Stall by our forum leader. This team is pretty straightforwards: Aggron checks common stallbreakers such as Mawile, Zygarde and Tapu Lele, while Mew serves as the team's Heatran's answer of choice. This team also features double defog to compensate for the lack of Magic Bounce support that Sableye would normally provide. We all know what this team does so there's no point in analysing this any further considering that we already have this thesis paper written on it. Submissions close Sunday the 23rd. Happy Posting!

Keldeo @ Waterium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Taunt

This set's an underrated stallbreaker imo. Aggron can only 3HKO with Earthquake, meaning you can get at least 2 Calm Minds up, which pretty much means you win. Buzzwole's gimped by +1 Hydro Pump, Chansey can take a Secret Sword at +1 but it doesn't have Toxic so you can just get up two Calm Minds, OHKO it, and sweep. Mew can't do much to you— Earthquake only 4HKOes so you can just Calm Mind up on them, however it is a potential Z target as you need +4 to guarantee the OHKO with Hydro Pump, whereas Z OHKOes at +2, preserving HP. Quagsire, while it ignores stat boosts, can't take two Hydro Pumps, and is OHKOed by Z-move. Zapdos can be a bit annoying, but you can Calm Mind on the switch and then after a second boost you only take 45ish from Thunderbolt. However, Pressure can be a bit annoying depending on the situation, so it might be easier to just nuke them with the Z at +1 (though Mew is probably the best target for Z, but this set has such a good matchup that the game plane is flexible), but even if they scout for it / you used it on something else, +2 Hydro Pump OHKOes.

+2 252 SpA Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 196+ SpD Aggron-Mega: 313-370 (91.2 - 107.8%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
0 Atk Aggron-Mega Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 105-124 (32.5 - 38.3%) -- 98% chance to 3HKO
+1 252 SpA Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Buzzwole: 445-525 (106.7 - 125.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 SpA Keldeo Secret Sword vs. 244 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 732-864 (104.2 - 123%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Quagsire: 253-298 (64.2 - 75.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Keldeo Hydro Vortex (185 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Quagsire: 424-501 (107.6 - 127.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery

+2 252 SpA Keldeo Hydro Vortex (185 BP) vs. 80 HP / 244+ SpD Mew: 435-513 (120.4 - 142.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 SpA Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 390-460 (101.8 - 120.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Medicham-Mega @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Zen Headbutt
- Ice Punch
- Fake Out

Due to this team lacking a M-Sableye or Clefable and the fact that Mew opts for more SpDef instead of HP, M-Medicham can be difficult to play around.

M-Aggron takes over 70% from HJK and fails to OHKO back, although it can catch M-Medicham off guard with Protect. Chansey is easily OHKO'd and doesn't have Protect to force mind games. Quagsire also takes more than 70% from HJK and has a chance to get KO'd by Fake Out into HJK from Adamant M-Medicham. Buzzwole can switch into HJK pretty comfortably but takes over 60% from Zen Headbutt and can't spam Roost as it risks getting flinched. Mew takes 49% minimum from Jolly M-Medicham's HJK and the roll is in favour of it getting 2HKO'd, whereas Adamant is a guaranteed 2HKO. Jolly M-Medicham has a chance to KO Zapdos with HJK into Ice Punch, whereas Adamant is almost guaranteed, Zen Headbutt into Ice Punch also KOs most of the team, even from Jolly.

M-Medicham can only switch into Chansey, but is often paired with Volturn support so this isn't a problem. HJK is easily spammable as long as M-Aggron's Protect is played around, if rocks are able to be kept up it makes certain KOs easier, especially on Mew and Zapdos.

Hoopa-Unbound @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Magician
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic
- Focus Blast

Like most other stall teams, this one is demolished by Hoopa-U. Just be wary of Toxic on Quagsire and you should be able to 6-0 without effort.

Albeit an unmon in OU, Xurk can actually plow through this team. It sets up on everything with Shuca and blow through even Chansey.

+3 252 SpA Xurkitree Thunderbolt vs. 244 HP / 12 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 288-340 (41 - 48.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 248 HP / 104 Def / 156 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Flamethrower
- Leech Seed
- Protect

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 248 HP / 88 Def / 156 SpD / 16 Spe
Calm / Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power Fire / Earthquake / Leech Seed
- Synthesis

Good ol' CeleSaur isn't as popular a core as it used to be, and honestly any bulky Grass would do the job, but I'm giving the nod to MVenu because I like it its immunity to Toxic shuts down this team's only possible counterplay to the Steela + Grass core structure (that is, poisoning the Grass-type so it can't consistently switch into Zapdos) and smacks it around twice as hard.

Switch in, seed up, stall the stallers.

Reuniclus @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Recover
- Energy Ball

Reuniclus sets up with Calm Mind on the whole team, can KO Quagsire with Energy Ball, pressures Chansey with Psyshock, and it's pretty much over from there.

Reserving Tyranitar + Zard Y

I hate Chansey (Charizard-Mega-Y) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 Spa / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

I hate Chansey too (Tyranitar) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Crunch / Avalanche
- Superpower

Is this the best stall killing core out there? Not in a thousand light years. But is it my favourite? Yes, if the profile picture didn't give the reason away. How does this core work? OK, it first needs to be noted that Charizard already deals with Quagsire, Aggron-Mega, Buzzwole, and to an extent, Mew and Zapdos. The pokemon he struggles with such as Chansey and Zapdos at full health, are dealt with by Tyranitar. Tyranitar also has pursuit, meaning that it can catch them on the switch, with accurate prediction, to weaken them for Charizard to mop up later.

Hazard control is mandatory, whether it be defog from Kartana or Landorus-Thedian, or rapid spin from Excadrill. Status curing can help this team out immensely as toxic and paralysis become much less annoying. Clefable, or even your own cancer Chansey, can use Aromatherapy to help out.

Other than that, prediction is key. Play wrong and you're in for a bad time. Play your opponent to the very end, and the match will end fast enough in your victory.

252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Flamethrower vs. 248 HP / 196+ SpD Filter Aggron-Mega in Sun: 339-400 (98.8 - 116.6%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Flamethrower vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos in Sun: 280-330 (73.1 - 86.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Choice Band burned Tyranitar Crunch vs. 80 HP / 0 Def Mew: 220-259 (60.9 - 71.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery

Kartana @ Normalium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Giga Impact

A very niche set, but perhaps it'll be less niche with the popularization of stalls like this.
  • Kartana can come in without too much issue on Chansey and Mega Aggron.
  • Quagsire, Mew, and Chansey are obviously blown back.
  • Mega Aggron is 2HKOed by +2 Sacred Sword and can't do very much damage back.
+2 252 Atk Kartana Sacred Sword vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Filter Aggron-Mega: 180-213 (52.4 - 62%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
56 Atk Aggron-Mega Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 80-95 (30.7 - 36.5%) -- 63.9% chance to 3HKO
  • Zapdos is OHKOd by +2 Breakneck Blitz and takes a dickload from Giga Impact (if you're into that sort of thing).
+2 252 Atk Kartana Breakneck Blitz (200 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Zapdos: 447-527 (116.4 - 137.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Kartana Giga Impact vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Zapdos: 335-395 (87.2 - 102.8%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
  • Buzzwole takes a lot of damage from +2 Breakneck Blitz, and is OHKOed by +3.
+2 252 Atk Kartana Breakneck Blitz (200 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Buzzwole: 319-376 (76.3 - 89.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (18.8% to OHKO after rocks)
+3 252 Atk Kartana Breakneck Blitz (200 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Buzzwole: 398-469 (95.2 - 112.2%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

It should be paired with something that appreciates the removal of Kartana's traditional checks and counters. Hazards help it secure the clean KO on Buzzwole.
