Project Underused Iron Chef Season 4 [Episode 8, Stage 3 (#115)]

CREATIVITY:
1. Team 4 - Trick room is a pretty uncommon playstyle, with some creative pokemon such as vikavolt and whimsicott. Along with creative sets like SD rhyperior, and TR whimsi. This gets a vote here for some of these reasons
2. Team 6 - Some pokemon that arent seen much like yanmega, zygarde 10%, and blastoise. Though sets are fairly standard the pokemon being used gives the vote here.
ESSENCE:
1. Team 1 - Though this is a bit subjective this week, since everyone uses the secret ingredient well to some degree, i feel the synergy of the pokemon together with this makes a very hard to break defensive team.
2. Team 2- Again a similar thing that its subjective, a good balance team that has a use for each pokemon used that causes pretty good synergy together, with momentum and defensive core to back it up.
EFFECTIVENESS:
1. Team 2 - A very solid balance team that gives the right mix of offense and defense that is hard to do in balance. Very well put together, and can deal with most threats.
2. Team 7 - Though weak to ghost types like gengar, it has the right tools to be effective as offense. Has the support to let some of the underrated threats such as feraligatr shine.

While some team members look standard, there are a lot of nifty tech moves at its disposal, such as Toxic on Raikou and Fire Fang on Steelix. The greatest selling points that garnered a fairly high grade in this criterion is the use of Pursuit Umbreon and Haze Quagsire, which aren't seen as much.
ESSENCE: 5 / 5
This is an intriguing take on a Stall team that has surprisingly good synergy between the team members. The direction is extremely clear at how the team works, and no Pokemon is worth dropping given the restriction, hence a great score in this criterion.
EFFECTIVENESS: 7.5 / 10
This team acknowledges a weakness to Primarina, due to the lack of Water resists, and Fairy-type Pokemon with Fire moves such as Mega Altaria with Fire Blast. While Blissey could have been the biggest replacement to Umbreon, the team is quite solid enough to garner a considerably high score in this criterion, provided no restrictions given, and you have taken advantage of all the Pokemon you have used extremely well. Solid effort.

The biggest selling point in this team is the use of Rocky Helmet Qwilfish, while having Fightinium Z on Nasty Plot Togekiss with Aura Sphere is icing on the cake to warrant a fairly average score in this criterion. The rest of the team is generic at best.
ESSENCE: 5 / 5
The team is looking synergistic to a point that no Pokemon would be worth dropping in place of different Pokemon starting with the letters you have assigned, hence a great score in this criterion.
EFFECTIVENESS: 7 / 10
The team is undoubtedly solid for a balanced team, but what holds back to scoring such a high score in this criterion, despite your recorded wins against two of the Iron Chefs, is an apparent weakness to offensive Spike-stacking teams, especially when Rotom-Mow is the defogger of choice yet it is using Choice Scarf, hence serving as the emergency Defogger. This team would have Rhyperior + Starmie in this regard to maintain the team's purpose while keeping the Spike-stacking capabilities without having to clear the Spikes and Stealth Rock both Qwilfish and Rhyperior put their blood, sweat, and tears on. Nonetheless, this is the best team that you have made so far, which is a strong effort on your part.

CREATIVITY: 4 / 5
Pawniard and Qwilfish are the selling points of the team's creativity; while most Pokemon running Rain Dance are actually nifty options to keep Rain going, hence a fairly high grade in this criterion.
ESSENCE: 4.5 / 5
The team employing a Rain Dance strategy makes it all the more intriguing, but what holds the team back from garnering a higher score than expected in this criterion is Pawniard being quite slow and possibly killing the momentum the rest of the team needs (though Thunder Wave mitigates that, anyway).
EFFECTIVENESS: 5.5 / 10
While the team has some legitimate threats that could make waves to opposing teams, apparently, dealing with some of the threats in the team (especially Serperior, which is somehow reflective on your match against Iron Chef Darksafadao) only include sacrificing a Pokemon and eventually revenge kill it when Rain is up. Despite the lack of better rain abusers (to a point that Kingdra could have been there), the concept of a Rain team given the restriction is all the more present, which is a valiant effort on your part.
(PS: Raikou with Weather Ball is required to have a Shiny and a Rash Nature.)

CREATIVITY: 3.5 / 5
While the concept of Trick Room with Uxie and Stakataka looks generic, the selling point for the team's creativity is the offensive Rhyperior and Vikavolt that was literally not seen before, hence a fairly high grade in this criterion.
ESSENCE: 4 / 5
The concept of Trick Room is actually there, but what holds back to getting a considerably higher score than expected in this criterion is the bizarre choice of Pokemon that ended up looking like a hyper-offensive one. While Trick Room teams are offensive in nature, the team must still have some form of bulk and resistances that would help take hits comfortably.
EFFECTIVENESS: 4.5 / 10
Reflective to the Essence criterion, the choice of Pokemon is rather bizarre that there would be some Pokemon worth dropping out, like you could consider running some of the Pokemon worth abusing under Trick Room such as Guts Ursaring, among others. Regardless, dedicated Trick Room teams aren't making much traction due to the need of keeping Trick Room up to a point that it needs some form of a speedy sweeper to clean up once the teams are weakened after Pokemon like Stakataka and Rhyperior have finished their job, hence the major drop in the score in this criterion.

CREATIVITY: 2.5 / 5
Choice Scarf Durant being the most underutilized Pokemon in the team is the biggest selling point for creativity; with a different Empoleon set being the icing on the cake, the team warrants a fairly average score in this criterion.
ESSENCE: 2.5 / 5
The team looks generic in terms of the game plan; but there could be possible replacements in the team starting with the letters you have assigned. Dual Grass looks intriguing, but the lack of Fire resists makes it possible to replace some of the Pokemon: example being (Calm Mind) Chandelure over Celebi to improve match-up against Fire types.
EFFECTIVENESS: 4.5 / 10
The team has one large threat that is worth addressing, and it's no other than Fire-types, which is greatly exemplified in the match against one of the Iron Chefs (even Darmanitan and Alolan Marowak look extremely threatening here, since it could literally kill almost anyone in that team with a simple Flare Blitz). Reflective to the Essence criterion, there would be some Pokemon worth replacing that could bolster the team's effectiveness as aforementioned. It is seemingly apparent that the team looks slapped with offensive teams then adding a defensive backbone; make sure that the synergy between those Pokemon regardless of purpose and role is integral to the team's overall success.

CREATIVITY: 4 / 5
There are a lot of uncommon Pokemon in this team that are worth giving a considerably high score in this criterion. Azelf and Cobalion being commonplace in the metagame hold it back from garnering a score higher than expected.
ESSENCE: 4.5 / 5
The direction of this hyper offensive team is spot on -- without a doubt, garnering a considerably high score in this criterion. What holds it back to giving a score higher than expected is that Mega Blastoise, given the restrictions in this episode, looks quite slow to keep the pressure against fast offensive builds.
EFFECTIVENESS: 6 / 10
The only thing worth addressing in the team (which is fortunately not seen from the match against one of the Iron Chefs) is Scarf Hydreigon due to the lack of answers -- Cobalion might get caught by Fire Blast on the switch. If that's the case, the team needs some more priority users, which Decidueye can greatly appreciate with Shadow Sneak over Substitute. Sash Breloom could somehow be problematic, but it could've handled that much better. Otherwise, this is one of the better teams made so far with these restraints. Good job!

Defensive Doublade and Wish Espeon are the selling points for the team's creativity, with Feraligatr putting some traction these days are icing on the cake, garnering a fairly high score in this criterion.
ESSENCE: 4 / 5
The team looks solid in terms of the offensive presence, but what holds it back from garnering a score higher than expected in this criterion is that Defensive Doublade and Wish Espeon is somehow destroying the team's overall momentum to a point that Escavalier, among other candidates, would be one of the deserving Pokemon integral to the team's success even with such restrictions.
EFFECTIVENESS: 5.5 / 10
As mentioned earlier, the offensive presence brought by the team is present, but due to defensive Doublade and Wish Espeon on the team, it lost all the momentum the team needs. Speaking of momentum, Mega Manectric is one of the Pokemon worth addressing in this team, since you don't have much answers against it; if that's the case, Donphan, while not exactly as reliable, would provide an Electric immunity to the team and can survive a hit from Hidden Power Ice, and can also provide Stealth Rock that your team seriously lacks. Despite these things, it is still a valiant effort on your part to build such a team.

This team featured two tailed bipeds in the form of Mega Slowbro and Hydreigon: the former taking a slew of hits while still dealing a good amount of damage to the opposition, while the latter taking advantage of its Speed with Choice Scarf to revenge kill some of the speedy Pokemon in the tier, and a tailless biped in a form of Roserade, capable of breaking bulky Waters and Fairies by virtue of its STAB moves while disrupting other defensive Pokemon with Sleep Powder. Terrakion served as a support to Mega Slowbro to break down troublesome Pokemon while setting up Stealth Rock for the team. Rotom-Heat serve as a formidable check to Grass types while clearing hazards off the field. Scizor finally capped off as a set-up attacker and pivot at the same time.
This team featured Garbodor pairing up with Defensive Dual Status Klefki to stack up Spikes to the opposing team. Rhyperior is then added to provide Stealth Rock for the team while serving as a check to Gliscor thanks to Solid Rock and Ice Punch. Breloom and Celebi were then added to bolster the team's offensive capabilities: the former covering the physical spectrum with Swords Dance + Toxic Orb; the latter covering the special spectrum with Nasty Plot. Finally, Mega Altaria rounded the team as the late-game sweeper with Dragon Dance.
This defensive team featured a tried-and-tested core of Blissey and Mega Aggron, both of which are capable of taking any attack with relative ease. To cover the core's Fighting weakness came Moltres and Gliscor, both of which are capable of spreading Toxic to the opposition and clearing hazards off the field with Defog. Quagsire was then added to take hits against numerous set-up attackers, while Alomomola rounded the team as a back-up Wish passer whenever Blissey fails to do its job.
This team featured Future Sight Mega Slowbro with Choice Band Heracross at the side as a way of dealing with defensive builds. Whimsicott and Rhyperior comprised the defensive backbone of the team: the former disrupting any chances of setting up with Encore while clearing hazards off the field, while the latter taking any hit with relative ease while setting up Stealth Rock for the team. Alolan Muk served as a buffer against special attackers thanks to Assault Vest, while Moltres capped off as a late-game sweeper with its offensive Agility set.
This team featured three Swords Dance attackers in Breloom, Crawdaunt, and Gliscor: the former two having a priority move with a respective boosting ability to pick off any weakened attackers, and the latter having natural bulk to take hits and an ability to recover lost health. Compounding the offensive prowess of the core came in Scizor to trap opponents with Pursuit or to gain momentum by virtue of U-turn. Seismitoad served as a catch-all wall and hazard setter for the team. Finishing off was Hydreigon with Choice Scarf to serve as a revenge killer against some of the speedy Pokemon in the tier.
This team featured an offensive bipedal core containing Lucario, Charizard, and Seismitoad: the former being a wall breaker, the other one being a revenge killer, and the latter being a tank capable of taking hits and then deal some reasonable damage to the opposition. Mega Houndoom was added to serve as a sweeper thanks to its naturally high Speed; Latias was added to serve as a Calm Mind attacker with Dragonium Z. Finally, Togekiss served as the Defogger for the team.
This team featured Choice Band Krookodile as the team's wall breaker, coupled with Celebi and Lucario as the Nasty Plot attackers. Mega Sharpedo served as the team's sweeper, once the opponent's team is weakened enough. Bronzong served as the Stealth Rock setter for the team while providing a slew of resistances to take hits comfortably. Finally, Crobat provided hazard control for the team while serving as the team's offensive pivot capable of dishing a huge amount of damage to the opposition.
This team featured a bulky Infernape set catching some of the most conventional checks and counters off guard by spreading burns through Will-O-Wisp. Mega Aerodactyl was added to take down some of the speedy Pokemon in the tier, while Hydreigon was added to take care of Blissey. Primarina then served as the glue to the team, offering a slew of resistances to take hits against some of the troublesome Pokemon the last two Pokemon would struggle to defeat. The latter three Pokemon were the supporting cast to allow both Nidoking and Celebi to sweep against the opponent's team.
This straightforward Aurora Veil offense team was filled with four set-up attackers in the form of Bibarel, Haxorus, Slurpuff, and Breloom, all of them being capable of setting up mostly Swords Dance and Belly Drum.
This hyper offensive team featured Azelf as the suicide hazard setter for the team, which is then coupled with a myriad of attackers of different styles: Golurk can outpace most of the speedy Pokemon in the tier by virtue of Rock Polish, Stakataka has Trick Room to take advantage of its abysmal Speed, Togekiss and Lucario has Nasty Plot to take advantage of their stellar Special Attack stats, and finally Mega Sharpedo to pull off a sweep when the team is weakened enough.
This team featured two Normal-type Pokemon to spam their STABs with: the first one being Bewear with Normalium Z to break walls while switching moves comfortably, while the other one being Swellow with Choice Specs equipped. Hazard setters in Roserade and Rhyperior were then included in the team: the former providing Toxic Spikes for the team and serving as a check against Breloom and Serperior; the latter providing Stealth Rock and serving as a check to Mega Aerodactyl and other Choice Scarf Pokemon. Mega Altaria provided hazard control for the team while serving as a check to Hydreigon upon Mega Evolution, while Chandelure rounded the team as the Revenge Killer and as a momentum gainer with Memento.

CREATIVITY: 3 / 5
The team and its respective sets look generic at first glance, but with Roserade being one of the uncommon anti-metagame options picking up a bit of steam and with Rotom-Heat and Stealth Rock Terrakion on the side, this warrants a fairly average score in the category.
ESSENCE: 4 / 5
The core containing Slowbro + Hydreigon + Roserade looks promising, but from the looks of it, Scizor being the win condition of the team is not enough to pick up those wins to a fact that it could have taken advantage of using Calm Mind on Slowbro with that EV spread chosen.
EFFECTIVENESS: 6.5 / 10
The team is greatly synergistic on paper to a point that it takes a surprise set to catch you and this team off guard. However, the team's match-up against stall is not exactly great due to the lack of a back-up win condition (hence the suggestion on Calm Mind on Mega Slowbro in this regard). Also, the lack of a Fairy type means that Dragon-type Pokemon would seriously overwhelm this team, and this team has to tread carefully against Hydreigon since switching Scizor in is not exactly safe due to Fire Blast. Nonetheless, this is the best team done by you so far in this episode, which is a strong effort on your part. Good job!

The only stand-out in this team in terms of the creativity is the presence of Garbodor; otherwise, the rest of the team employs standard sets at most.

I regret to inform that Iron Chef explodingdaisies has stepped down to attend to real life matters (we do look forward for your return, though!). In this case, the Iron Chef Chairman himself, Euphonos, will be his temporary replacement for two episodes (5 and 6) until new appointees take place. Therefore, the Iron Chef Chairman has appointed vivalospride to become the Interim Chairman, the role being the point person for all team submissions. However, the Iron Chef Chairman will be responsible in choosing secret ingredients and in awarding the winners for those two episodes, therefore he will still be active at this rate.

Good day, everyone! Again, I would like to apologize for all the undue delays that may have caused to everyone.
Apart from explodingdaisies, Iron Chefs Sage and Ov3r Ac3 stepped down in their positions as Iron Chefs. Instead of the initial plan of appointing vivalospride as the Interim Chairman (which didn't happen to work during that time), the Chairman has placed the three people who were part of the Panel of Judges (vivalospride, sparrow, and Amane Misa) to become Interim Iron Chefs until Episode 6, in which new appointees will be set afterward. This means that the Chairman will be left behind as the sole judge at the time being -- unless he could seek help from the former Iron Chef staff who are willing to help in this regard, and that the Chairman will be the point person for team submissions.
With that, the fifth episode is now up!

This team mainly features Stakataka not only to fulfill the secret ingredient for this episode, but also to fulfill its purpose as an offensive semi-Trick Room team. Stakataka is then paired with Mega Camerupt as a reactive answer against most Electric types with the likes of Mega Manectric, and with Cresselia as a back-up Trick Room setter and as an answer against Terrakion and Cobalion. Togekiss serves as the hazard controller of the team, while doubling up as a lure against Scizor thanks to Flamethrower and Babiri Berry, and against Hydreigon thanks to Dazzling Gleam. Heracross serves as the wall breaker for the team that benefits from any field -- with Trick Room or not. With Starmie and Ghost-types being a hindrance to the team's success, Choice Scarf Hydreigon is then added to take on those Pokemon.
The idea behind this team's composition is making use of Chandelure to draw Dark moves with Substitute such that Terrakion can take advantage of by virtue of Justified. Amoonguss is then added to promote more set-up opportunities for both Chandelure and Terrakion thanks to Spore. Empoleon and Hippowdon serve as the defensive foundation of the team, providing all the tools the team needs to succeed such as Defog and Stealth Rock, respectively. Finally, Hydreigon serves as the revenge killer, taking out relatively faster threats before Terrakion would make a move.
