Congrats pif for winning this week!
And we're back again after another pause (on purpose this time, to get used to the drops). Let's kick off with a fresh mon:

Week 28: Excadrill
:ss/excadrill:

I have no idea about what to write about Exca seing how there's so much to mention. Let's just say it's a cool looking mole, it's strong, has a very good amount of valuable assets and can fit in a bunch of playstyles with a great variety of sets. Looking forward to your stuff again
You have until Saturday

Noivern helps excadrill by dealing with pokemon such as latias, hydreigon, and kommo-o, all of whom give excadrill trouble, can pivot it in against favorable MU's such as rotom-h, rotom-w, chansey, hattrene, and togekiss. It is also the speed control of the team. Exca is running a support option because I find set up to be hard to find opportunities for it, and toxic helps pressure mandibuzz, tangrowth, moltres, and more. Nihilego provides rocks and can pressure tangrowth, amoonguss, and threaten knock off on celesteela and skarmory which helps exca and noivern break later in the game. Sp. Def Mandibuzz is for pokemon such as Specs Hydreigon, Latias, Gyarados, Excadrill, Salamence, and Zarude, it can threaten these pokemon with foul play or toxic, either hindering them, or foul play to deny them setup. Rest Talk Primarina is for Kommo-o, Non-Pjab Shao, Hydreigon, and checks latias, it also helps to wear down the opponents with scald burns to make them easier to pick off late game from SD GOD BULU, especially with stealth rocks and no leftovers to rely on. Tapu Bulu is the late game cleaner, it also helps excadrill to help check or counter better and to gain more opportunities to spin due to the extra recovery, esp against nihilego, chansey, and jirachi. Darkest Lariet hits latias, slowbro-g, and aegislash, while close combat is the strongest neutral move against celesteela, skarmory, and tangrowth. LO SD can allow bulu to pick of weakened pokemon who have been worn down over the course of the game

Extremely basic bulky offense team featuring the Excadrill + Latias core. Excadrill is notably freed from having to carry Rapid Spin thanks to having Tentacruel on the team, so it is running Swords Dance to better damage more passive structures. Latias complements Excadrill beautifully, giving the team a strong Keldeo check, Fighting and Fire switch-in, and speed control. Latias is running the (most) standard LO + Roost + 3 Attacks set right now to allow it to come in multiple times in a game and hit everything hard. Rotom-Heat patches up the team's matchup against the Flying + Steels and provides a pivot. It doesn't need to run Defog since Tentacruel is handling hazard removal. It also is the team's main method of dealing with Mamoswine. Tentacruel threatens the Regenerator Grass types, and provides hazard control + Knock Off support. It also aids in checking Keldeo and is the team's main way of dealing with Fairies. Sylveon provides the team with cleric support and checks the Dragons, while also giving the team another Fighting check. Finally, physically defensive Tangrowth handles opposing Excadrill, Zygarde-10%, Zarude, and Lycanroc-Dusk, while punishing U-Turns.

ORAS + Exca

I wanted to try out Heracross so this is what the team was built around, it just happens to have an Excadrill on it. Scarf Drei is there for Speed control and removal. Sylveon provides a Hydreigon and semi Latias check. Crobat is just added as a fast utility mon that shuts down a lot of these fat walls and hazard setters with Taunt. It's also a handy Roserade/Amoong switchin. Excadrill gives rocks and all that good stuff with its typing. Finally, Slowking just because I like the pivot support to get Heracross in safely. It is also the main Excadrill and Mamoswine pivot on this squad.

Its uh...sand? Maybe on a good day, but essentially the idea is to use Latias to make everyone's day worse, cripple stuff with Trick so Exca can abuse it and so on. Amoonguss does Amoonguss things, Mandi is ev'd to eat 2 LO Draco Meteors from Latias after eating Krookodile's Knock Off, Mienshao is speed control, Amoonguss+Drill+Mandi+offensive pressure from Latias/Shao should be enough for Hydreigon and pray that you never see a Choice Specs Latias cuz that 6-0s this. Is it good? Likely not. Is it fun? Also probably a no. Is there an Excadrill? Yes.

Also, the team has Gravity on Gigalith for all those funny Skarmory who think they're safe.

CB Sand Force Mole + Gravity Chansey

This is a fun team based on a cool concept Lily was talking about in VR chat other day. CB Sand Force Mole hits like an absolute monster under Sand and Two Gravity users (one with Teleport) really help open up opportunities for it where no ground immunities exist, so unless the opponent has a Pdef Tang its often claiming a kill if you got it in. You can also play around with concepts like SD + Chople Sand Force Mole here to stop Conk forcin you out (god conk is annoying to sand) and making you a bit harder to play around, but lose the nuclear power CB Sand force mole has such as being able to OHKO spdef pert.

Gigalith/Chansey form the obvious Sand + Gravity + Teleport support, can also handle a bunch of special attacking threats in general. Mandibuzz gives you spore absorbal + check to stuff like Conk and BD Azu, nice pivot and aegislash check, and other miscellaneous goodies like that. Amoonguss gives spore support for mole entry points and can switch into Fightings that aren't conk for u (and at least chip conk a bunch). Scarf Lati rounds off the team with speed control, trick support to help break a bit more, and valuable HW support.

Congrats Twilight for winning this week! and thanks everyone for participating and voting.
Let's jump straight to this week's topic:

Week 29: Conkeldurr
:ss/conkeldurr:
With the shifts being extremely favorable to it and the memes hitting almost as hard as in ORAS, Conkeldurr as established itself as a nearly unstoppable wallbreaker, with great sustainability thanks to Drain Punch and a perfect neutral coverage that allows it to power through all of its answers. You are obviously welcome to explore further than just the flame orb set if you feel like it, and I hope to see some heat!
You have until Saturday to be creative (or unfun)

Thankfully I already had a team built with the big fella this time, so no need to build a new one! The idea when building this team was to have a team that both abused Conk and didn't get abused by it. I really wanted to experiment with Crobat in the current meta, and I found that it filled this role well, especially in combination with physically defensive Tangrowth. This team takes a more balanced approach, slowly wearing down the opposing team with Stealth Rock damage, VoltTurn support, chip from Rocky Helmet, and knocking off items, while having a very solid defensive backbone against the many threats of the current meta.

Team Roles:
Tangrowth is the physical wall and aids Crobat in dealing with Excadrill which Crobat otherwise really does not like. Crobat naturally outspeeds almost everything in the metagame besides Scarfers and Noivern + Ribombee, allowing it to act as a fantastic lead, pivot, and Defogger, while checking the tier's dangerous Fighting type threats in Conkedlurr and Mienshao excellently. Rotom-Wash forms a VoltTurn core with Crobat and helps the team deal with Mamoswine. Since it doesn't need to run Defog with Crobat around, it's also free to run Toxic to put switch-ins that it can't hurt much on a timer, such as Latias, Hydreigon, Kommo-o, Zarude, and Chansey. Conkeldurr helps to provide speed control with its priority Mach Punch, and also aids in breaking opposing defensive cores due to its nigh-unwallable attacking prowess and immunity to status after being burned. It's also able to keep itself healthy throughout a match with Drain Punch. Jirachi provides hazards for the team and aids Umbreon in fending off Dragons with its ability to switch into Draco Meteors. It also acts as another pivot with U-Turn, helps the team deal with Fairies, and carries my favourite tech in Icy Wind to help beat Latias and other faster threats one-on-one ;) Finally, Umbreon is the special wall for the team, and aids in checking dangerous setup sweepers like DD Gyarados, DD Salamence, and Nasty Plot Azelf. It's also able to help the team stay healthy with Wish and put the opposing team on a timer with Toxic.
