Week 61 - Lycanroc!

Recently showing a resurgence in viability, Lycanroc makes for a solid revenge killer due to its strong Tough Claws-boosted priority move in Accelerock, which enables it to revenge kill weakened Dragon Dance Salamence and Gyarados, and high Speed, which lets it outspeed Thundurus-T and Nihilego. Access to strong coverage moves, such as Close Combat to break past Excadrill, Psychic Fangs to break past Amoonguss, and Crunch to deal with Slowking makes Lycanroc-D very unpredictable to defensively answer. However, Lycanroc-D struggles to break through teams that run physically bulky threats such as Tangrowth, Hippowdon, Swampert, and Skarmory. Its poor bulk also means it cannot come in on almost anything, so it requires pivot support to come in safely as well as occasional aggressive prediction on expected switches. Lycanroc-D is also very prone to wearing itself down between entry hazards and Life Orb recoil, limiting its staying presence on the field. The presence of priority attackers like Scizor and Azumarill can easily pick off Lycanroc-D. Zygarde-10% gives Lycanroc-D fierce competition as a fast physical wallbreaker due to a Stealth Rock resistance, higher Speed, and less prediction reliance.

How will you help this powerful pup unleash its full potential?

5 days to create a team featuring Lycanroc, good luck!

it is based on CB lycan and SD goggles coba to break through teams. CB lycan is used since it has been gaining traction lately and hits stupid hard without recoil of Life orb and now can reliably 2shot stuff such as av tang, amoonguss, and having a good chance to 2hko hippo after chip, it is also the teams response to dd salamence, dd gyarados, NP azelf, etc. SD coba is here on this team as a way to pressure scizor as this abuses most scizor with SD and gets to force progress esp via justified boost. SD coba lures in tang and amoonguss which can make life a bit hell for them via SD megahorn for tang and goggles for amoonguss and forces a lot of progress on these kinds of teams that rely on spore. Salamence is here to further pressure the grass types via stab hurricane and helps alliviate pressure by fogging infinitely on spikes skarm and forcing progress that way, it also baits in a lovely opponent in chansey, nihilego, mandibuzz, rotom-h, rotom-w, etc which lycan-d can abuse them by clicking super effective coverage against them or blowking most of them back via close combat or stone edge. Slowking is on this team for its ability to make it a pain to switch into via future sight and forcing even more damage on wolud be counters such as hippo, tang, skarm, swampert, def bulu, scizor, slowking, and helps pressure opponents switch into would be counters against other team members. It also provides a keldeo, azelf, moltres, and salamene switch ins. Hippo provides rocks and helps lycan in the fact most pokemon also who switch into hippo often eat a toxic to force it out like slowking, salamence, rotom-w, bulu, etc and this helps lycan-d and cobalion in forcing even more progress. Helmet helps against u-turn spamming pokemon and punishes them for doing so such as scarf diggersby, scarf hydreigon, jirachi, mandibuzz, scizor and punishes pokemon from clicking their buttons such as cobalion, outrage zygarde, lycan-d, and more. AV tang helps a lot in the fact it checks CM prim, keldeo, and helps remove helmets for lycan-d to go ham against opponents.

Well, looks like HydreigonTheChild wins by default! Onto the next week!

Week 62 - Salamence!

salamence-pokemon.gif

Salamence is a very versatile defensive and offensive presence. Its typing, natural bulk, and Intimidate allow it to check common threats such as Excadrill, Zarude, Scizor, and Conkeldurr. It's also a solid Defogger, matching up well against entry hazard setters such as Excadrill, Skarmory, and Cobalion. Salamence can utilize its solid Special Attack, decent Speed tier, and powerful moves like Hurricane and Draco Meteor as a strong special attacker, or it can sweep teams with Dragon Dance and Moxie. That, coupled with coverage in Flamethrower and Earthquake, makes Salamence difficult to predict and revenge kill. Salamence has seen an uptick in usage particularly due to its versatility and ability to check two of the most threatening Pokemon around currently: Scizor and Cobalion, but it can't just win games on its own!

Time to let this dragon do its thing, with the aid of some friends of course!

5 days to create a team featuring Salamence, good luck!

Salamence + Hippo Balance

Wanted to build a team that maximized Mence’s defensive potential. The main wincons here are SD Scizor and SD Cobalion, with one breaking for the other depending on the matchup (Knock Off weakening shared checks to take rocks damage or Stone Edge to lure other Mence, Moltres, etc.). Hippowdon has really good defensive synergy with Salamence, and Rotom-Wash fills in most of the holes. Went with Scarf-Trick Rotom both for speed control and to help versus bulkier win-cons. AV Tangrowth rounds things out as the bulky grass type. Scizor is EVed to be able to take two Specs Primarina Moonblasts after rocks to cover for Tangrowth. I really like Draco Meteor on Salamence if I can get away with not needing Hurricane which I think this team can afford with the double steels.

:raikou: :salamence: :diggersby: :nidoqueen: :tangrowth: :scizor:

THis team is built around salamences ability to break through grasses to give raikou the ability to clean through teams with electric/water coverage. Raikou mainly punches holes for diggersby or itself to clean late game with toxic opening up pokemon such as tangrowth, hydreigon, tapu bulu, umbreon, swampert, sp. def hippo, and potentially some more. Salamence provides hazard removal for the team for pokemon such as hippo, nidoqueen, and tangrowth to retain their ability to wall pokemon such as hippo dealing with zydog, exca or coba, tangs ability to deal with primarina, keldeo, thundy-t, and zygarde-10%, and nidoqueens ability to take attacks from pokemon such as utility cobalion, nihilego, thundy-t, and noivern. Diggersby is the speed control of the team and forms a volt turn core with scizor and raikou to wear down the opposing team, body slam and eq can be very hard for some teams to switch into esp with the risk of paralysis on smth such as salamence, amoonguss, or mandibuzz that can make it harder for them. Nidoqueen provides rocks and forces out grasses to make sure they get as little of opportunity to heal up so taht raikou can keep up the assault. tang walls primarina, and helps removing items for the team, focus blast is for cobalion who tries to get cocky on tangrwoth and swords dances up. Scizor is basically a pokemon who can take physical attacks while volt turning on the enemy

htc wins! Sorry for the delay, but here's the new week!

Week 63 - Reuniclus!

89d41425e1107141d7527aa4ab3e1a41.gif

Reuniclus is a unique Pokemon that serves as a slow yet bulky and powerful wallbreaker with good longevity. Its ability, Magic Guard, allows it to completely ignore passive damage, such as Toxic from Chansey and Hippowdon, as well as sand damage from the latter. Magic Guard also negates Life Orb recoil, which, in tandem with its high natural Special Attack stat, makes it extremely difficult to switch into, and its coverage options in Focus Blast and Thunder are able to wipe out checks like Zarude, Hydreigon, Mandibuzz, and Celesteela. Reuniclus's bulk allows it to trade with and KO common Pokemon such as Moltres, Salamence, and Zygarde-10% with enough prior chip damage. However, Reuniclus is terribly slow and often relies on prediction.

After seeing its powerful performance last week, shouldn't we all appreciate this jello fellow?

5 days to make your team! good luck!

Here's my attempt at a reuniclus team. Primarina is here since it is easily the best counter to hydreigon in the whole tier, as well as checking salamence and keldeo. Cobalion is here to deal with zarude, scizor, and chansey, as well as acting as a good win condition for the team. Amoongus is here to take care of offensive threats like opposing primarina, gyarados, and azumarill, as well as putting opposing pokemon to be put to sleep to allow reuniclus to switch in safely. Hydreigon is here to take out opposing psychic types, and act as speed control to revenge kill fast threats such as diggersby, azelf, and automize celesteela. You can also replace fire blast with defog if you want emergency hazard removal, but you'd then have to play much more carefully around automize steela, and I also don't feel that defog is very necessary for this team. And finally hippowdon is here to counter zygarde-10% and diggersby, as well as set up stealth rocks and spread passive damage with toxic and sand storm for reuniclus to capitalize off of.

edit later https://pokepast.es/b77b750452241716

3 attacks reuni is the most common set, that is what im running, I am pairing it with sand, spikes, and toxic to easily wear down opponents into range of its attacks and make sure that the pokemon cannot take them. Hippo is here as the rocker of the team and provides sand, sets up rocks and spreads toxic to spread passive damage everywhere and make sure the opposing team gets worn down. Skarm is here to set spikes, it is also here to screw over the u-turn spammers who want to take advantage of reuni and instead take a helmet to the face. Hydreigon is here as a scarfer that is able to revenge kill celesteela which is valuabel here as otherwise the team gets swept otherwise and can take on many hyper offense threats due to them lacking a dark resist 90% of the time. Toxic + flip turn keldeo is here to abuse the amount of passive damage and to put things further on a timer such as slowking, tang, salamence, bulu, and can scald burn amoonguss, jirachi, steela which all get worn down by the passive damage, I prefer non specs keldeo here and use keldeo with lefties as this allows keldeo to not get worn down by sand and allow it to wear down the opposing team easier and not give them free turns due to not being choice locked. AV tang is here to make the keldeo MU here better and to make sure CM prim doesnt get out of control esp with scarf drei here giving it free turns
