Voting for monky25 even though Godzilla > Kong anytime, any day. I also don't particularly like stall, but Zarude semi-stall is definitely an intriguing take.

It's a tie so I'm going to break it by voting for Codename Magnum. The team structure is solid, so congrats.

:ss/Politoed:

I am going to change it up this week and I want to see you build around Drizzle. Rain as a playstyle hasn't really picked up this generation but I believe it could use a little more exploration, so I am curious about what people come up with. You are free to take any approach with this, whether it be a full BO/HO rain team or perhaps a semi rain structure instead. The only rule is that Politoed must be on the team with the ability Drizzle. glhf

Deadline is Friday

So I've been playing a lot of PU recently, mainly trying to get reqs for the Virizion suspect. Unfortunately I wasn't able to because I'm a very bad player college started back up again. But I did learn a lot of things during my time laddering, the first and foremost being that Toxicroak is awesome. Seriously, this thing demolishes everything that it outspeeds after a single boost. And because of its ability Dry Skin, it actually fits on rain teams. So I decided to make a Toxicroak rain team because I'm heat like that. Usually I run a Life Orb setup sweeper set, but in higher tiers, Toxicroak's speed tier is woefully middling. In order to remedy that, I went with Choice Scarf as the item.

Another mon I wanted to try out was Thunder + Weather Ball Thundurus-T. It also works well with Toxicroak by giving a Ground immunity. Politoed is here because it has to be here. why do you have to withhold Pelipper from us OU The next thing I wanted was a Dark-type to patch up Toxicroak's 4x weakness to Psychic. Originally I went with Crawdaunt because Adaptability-boosted Choice Band Crabhammer in rain sounds absolutely disgusting, but I replaced it with Bisharp so that the team has a better switch-in to Latias. Rain actually makes Bisharp an even better Latias counter because of rain removing Bisharp's weakness to Mystical Fire. Next up is another underrated mon in Noivern. It fires off hard-hitting 100% accurate Hurricanes, serves as another Latias check (as well as a check to Grass types), and removes hazards. Speaking of hazards, I finished off with Seismitoad as both a Stealth Rock setter and a switch-in to Zeraora.

i am so sorry about this song choice

So not gonna lie it took some time to make a rain team different from the one estarossa posted but I think this is unique enough. Politoed is a shit rain setter that is a total momentum sink but I made it work somehow. Perish song forces set up sweepers out, same with toxic, scald because 30% burn and rest to heal HP since poli is a huge momentum sink. Next, I wanted to try something new in meteor beam omastar, who after a shell smash is a terrifying sweeper in the rain, hitting nearly everything with hydro pump and ice beam, plus meteor beam is always a nice nuke. Band azumarill is band azumarill, hits everything and I need a nice physical wallbreaker. I then put ass thundurus-i because I wanted an electric abuser, and as booty as it is the speed tier is quite nice, plus weather ball solves its coverage issues for krook and nidoqueen, allowing me to put sludge wave for the grasses. Amoongus and jirachi make up a defensive core, jirachi in particular loves mythical fire from latias to be weakened (even if latias is getting banned soon). Team is pretty nice, offensive but has some defensive utility and matches up good against the majority of the tier, especially if its an archetype like rain (please give us urshifu-rapid and barraskewda OU)

Teambuilding Process

I've been wanting to use Hurricane Tornadus for a while, since unlike Thundurus-T, its STAB isn't resisted by Dragon-types like Latias and Kommo-o, so its free to spam it under rain. Dark Pulse and Focus Blast let Thundurus hit switch-ins like Slowking and Chansey for good damage as well.

:jirachi:
I then added Jirachi, the team's Latias answer that also serves a sponge to other attackers such as Nihilego and Thundurus-T. It's also our Stealth Rock setter and provides momentum with U-turn.

Seismitoad was added next, serving as an Electric immunity for the team and to hit stuff like Terrakion, Jirachi, and Tangrowth surpringly hard. I chose Weather Ball as the last move to avoid missing when under rain.

Next up is Keldeo, a gen 5 rain staple. Choice Specs-boosted Hydro Pumps under rain from Keldeo do INSANE amounts of damage. I also chose it because of its great Speed tier and ability to deal with Chansey, something the other two sweepers can't do.

Finally, I added Amoonguss. With the given EV spread, Amoonguss is capable of taking on Rotom-H, as Overheat is a measly 3HKO when under rain and can put it and other enemies to sleep for its teammates. It's also the teams answer to other dangerous threats like Zeraora, Tapu Bulu, and Primarina.

252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Latias in Rain: 160-189 (53.1 - 62.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

So rain is definetively a hard archetype, in so many ways rain teams are incredibly similar and in general not very good (looking at you politoed) however I came together and managed to build this team.

:politoed:
Unfortunately politoed is mandatory and neccessary for the team because it provides drizzle, as we all know it is a huge momentum sink so I opted for a perish trap set without the trapping part, its job isnt really to take down targets but to force switches with accumulating damage of toxic and well perish song, since we gonna be wasting turns by doing absolutely nothing with toad damp rock is neccessary, finally scald is there so we can do damage and rest so our rain setter can live a little longer. (also sleeping politoed still acn do the job of setting rain)

:beartic:
Rain abuser numero 1, when you think of rain abusers kabutops and azumarill are the first two to come to mind however beartic over here is a hidden gem, it is incredibly strong, surprisingly fast under rain and unlike the other two water types it doesnt invite the two bulky grasses that are absolutely everywhere because it has stab icicle crash, also aqua jet for RK purposes make it not completely useless out of the rain.

:seismitoad:
Rain abuser numero 2, I decided to slap the standard rain seismitoad to give an electric immunity, SR setter and special attacking swift swimmer, basically a really good role compressor.

:indeedee-f: :raichu-alola:
Here is where the more unorthodox part of the team comes to shine, I decided to add the offensive core of indeedee-f and alolan raichu to form a solid psychic spam that many teams are not prepared for, raichu's 110 speed is solid so electric terrain isnt really needed and thunder in rain is incredi. I am using indeede female since the team is incredibly offensive and healing wish support is needed in case the rain sweepers get weakened, also the power drop isnt significant enough to need its male counterpart

:scizor:
As for the last member i needed something a bit bulkier to help me easily sponge hits also I was incredibly worried since kyurem is known as the rain destroyer, bulky scizor fit right in bringing a kyurem counter and a general pivot with its u-turn easing the pressure and helping the big hitters come in, while its bullet punch might not synergise very well with the psychic terrain most of the times scizor is clicking u-turn and roost and sciz can still hit key targets like tapu bulu with its bullet punches.

In general the team is incredibly offensive hoping to take many fast KO's, trading mon by mon to open path for powerful cleaners like scizor and indeedee.

I initially wanted to try semi-rain but my urge to use Kabutops was a bit stronger and I ended up with this. I'm pretty happy with this result as its proven to be rather consistent on tour nights. I mainly went this route since Kabutops has been mostly forgotten and I've already built with Omastar. It does not have the raw power Omastar does but Swords Dance can alleviate that. Rapid Spin can give Kabutops the speed to not be forced out as easily once Rain ends, and can of course clear hazards so Kingdra isn't worn down into range of priority. Krookodile is able to lure Tangrowth and Tapu Bulu with Sludge Bomb for Kabutops to freely click Liquidation. Krookodile was chosen over Sludge Wave Seismitoad for its stronger Knock Off and surprise factor. With Life Orb it does a lot to Amoonguss as well. Politoed was a must (lol) but can sometimes contribute more than Rain with whirlpool trapping and Toxic chip. Kingdra is amazing and can run through plenty of teams under Rain, just takes Krookodile luring or clicking Hurricane at the right time. Flip Turn is rarely clicked and can probably be dropped for second Water STAB, but pivoting on rare Umbreon/Chansey can be convenient. Spikes Teleport Mew is an excellent support mon for getting Politoed in and out. More importantly, it paves the way for Kingdra to just "haha surf go brr" late game as Knock Off + Spikes owns generic Slowking + Amoonguss teams. Scizor provides some of the usual defensive utility as the Steel-type and can clean up itself once Spikes are set. It also makes for a nice additional pivot and has the ability to revenge shit when Rain has gone.

Posting this a few hours early because I got work to do, but congrats to Bandkrook for winning this week. Cool rain team.

:ss/alakazam:
With the ban of Latias, many Pokemon are likely to become a lot better. The one I would like people to explore this week is Alakazam. It was easier to resort to Latias over Alakazam due to the better defensive utility it provided but, with Latias gone, it no longer faces that competition. There aren't many offensive Psychic-type Pokemon capable of competing with its Speed tier and breaking power letting it be a threat to both offense and stall teams.

Alakazam is really strong right now since it doesn't have to compete with Latias anymore. I used this for LTPL and its gotten better with no Laias. Alakazam has nice power with Magic Guard LO and expanding force takes advantage of it greatly, owning offense without Zeraora. Even against Zeraora they'll often go for Volt Switch first to break potential sash. Indeedee was required for the terrain and I went with the male form for some additional power. Encore has decent utility and helped against bulkier teams Zam had to boost to get past. It also was able to check Scizor with terrain blocking BP. Honestly could probably be female for Healing Wish but /shrug. DD Kommo-o made a nice addition as a cleaner against offense and could scale shot to prevent a scarf revenge killing, making it much easier to clean up as terrain could stop Scizor BP and Mamo shard. Rhyperior made for a nice glue mon and was a legitimate answer to Zeraora. Celesteela was another sweeper that served as a Steel-resist, and also couldn't get picked off by Accelerock/Ice Shard. Sharpedo has style points and was a solid fit as some speed control. Its fragility wasn't as bothersome with Psychic Terrain. A strong Crunch was handy for the Slowking matchup. Psychic Fangs got a boost and could be great late game, and had decent coverage with Close Combat.

I wanted to build off Nasty Plot Alakazam, which is super underrated and with a boost is able to 2HKO the vast majority of the tier. Furthermore, it has an incredible speed tier naturally outspeeding things like terrakion, thundurus-t, and keldeo. However, Alakazam is VERY frail so it needed support to get in. Band scizor acts as another offensive partner to Alakazam, helping wear down checks to Zam like Celesteela and opposing scizor while also beating tons of mons like alola tales, nihilego, opposing zam, mamoswine, kyurem, tapu bulu, terrakion, lycanroc-dusk, and many more. Rotom-Heat also helps form the volt turn core and acts as both hazard control and deals with steels like skarmory, jirachi, scizor, and steela while also outspeeding unboosted gyara. Next is krook which acts as a rocker and obligatory speed control/zeraora answer. Tapu bulu provides the team with grassy terrain support and helps check lots of things defensively like azumarill, keldeo, zeraora, and primarina while appreciating having its checks being overloaded and beaten by Alakazam and Rotom heat. These 5 covered basically the entire metagame, so the last slot is mostly for fun but I decided to put Starmie there. I'm really high on this mon right now, it legit beats half the tier, forces out all the rockers and defoggers (watch out for scarf krook, and is super fast. Starmie is so underrated and I urge many to try it out. All in all, solid offense and zam can definitely fill the void left by Latias on most offense based teams for the most part.
