Remember when the first scenes reveaked from SM caused quite the controversy? I'm not a fan of the SM anime (nor XY for that matter) but this controversy was so dumb: a lot of people ranting about animations without knowing what even animation means

, including XY fanboys boasting how its series was '''mature''' and '''serious'''. I remember getting mad when the traditional style got canned past EP260 so I think I can empathize JUST A LITTLE BIT, though.
On another note, I think Colosseum is kinda overrated. What I appreciate the most from these games is the different setting, you are finally not some kid doing the gym challenge again, the goal here is just save the Pokemon by snagging them and stop the villain team for good. You are Wes, an ex member of the evil team who betrayed them and run off with the Snag machine in an awesome opening sequence....buuuuut that's it for his character, you are just another mute heroic protag in this franchise, not even some amusing dialogue options like in Gen 7-8, which sucks since being a rebellious anti hero is something that was never replicated and just oozes wasted potential. This also extends to his successor Michael from XD, who some people pass off just because he's another kid like in the main games, but does it really matter that much considering how Wes is (or isn't)?
The Shadow Pokemon themselves can be a slog to train, especially in Colosseum where they tend to go Hyper Mode quite often and that slowns down the already slow paced double battles even further. It's not really a fun experience, especially since there are no Escape Ropes or Dig to escape from dungeons, or even a SAVE button in the menu, so I hope you like backtracking. I still like the game overall but it's far from my favorites and XD is overall superior. I think if I weren't a Pokemon veteran that was looking for a different experience from the main games and appreciate higher difficulties, I would've dropped the game quickly.
