[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Band Urshifu-RS is a potent wallbreaker capable of threatening many defensive teams with its powerful STABs. Surging Strikes is its main STAB, breaking Substitutes and ignoring Reflect, defensive boosts and attack drops due to it always inflicting critical hits, while having a high effective base power to boot. However, Urshifu-RS must be very careful to not use it on a Pokemon with Rocky Helmet, as doing so will bring Urshifu-RS down by half health. Close Combat is its secondary STAB and hits a number of water resists for neutral, such as Rotom-W, opposing Urshifu-RS and Keldeo and is generally its strongest move. Ice Punch allows it to 2HKO Amoonguss, Tapu Bulu and Mega Altaria, while preventing Salamence and Latias switching in for free. U-turn provides momentum and chips defensive checks such as Amoonguss, Slowking and Primarina. Poison Jab allows it to 2HKO Defensive Primarina, while still hitting Tapu Bulu and Mega Altaria, but it leaves it walled by Amoonguss. Jolly allows it to outspeed Moltres and non Choice Scarf Krookodile. Unseen Fist notably allows it to prevent its move from being scouted by Protect, as well as preventing Jirachi and Celesteela from recovering with Protect + Wish or Leech seed respectively for free by hitting through Protect, letting you keep them low for Pokemon that want the two weakened. Aqua Jet is an option that lets it revenge Infernape, Mega Diancie and Terrakion after chip damage, as well as improve its offense matchup due to being slow by offense team standards, but severely hinders any attempt to break common defensive cores, which this set is primarily intended to do, and as such is not usually worth it.

This set appreciates pivoting support, as, while it has good physical bulk, its typing doesn’t lend to having a large number of direct switch in opportunities, and it wants to stay healthy to avoid being killed by Rocky Helmet chip. Good choices for this include Slowking, Rotom-H, Rotom-W, Scizor and Blissey. Slowking is notable as Future Sight can help eliminate or weaken to the point of only needing one hit to kill common Rocky Helmet users such as Buzzwole, Amoonguss, and Hippowdon, while Urshifu-RS threatens any Dark-types attempting to absorb Future Sight by virtue of its typing and STAB. Knock Off users are valued partners, as the majority of them can force Buzzwole to switch into them and lose its Rocky Helmet, allowing Urshifu-RS to 2HKO Defensive Buzzwole after hazards with Surging Strikes without fear. This is notable as aside from Hippowdon, who doesn't want to switch in directly to Urshifu-RS anyways, Buzzwole is the only major Rocky Helmet user that Urshifu-RS has to use Surging Strikes to 2HKO. Good choices for this are Weavile, Bisharp and Knock Off Mamoswine, Weavile being especially notable as it can Pursuit trap Latias and allow Urshifu-RS to click STABs with more freedom. Pokemon that appreciate walls weakened or eliminated, such as sweepers and Choice Scarf users, appreciate Urshifu-RS’s wallbreaking prowess. Pokemon that like Latias overwhelmed or taken out by U-turn on the switchin, such as Infernape, Offensive Starmie and Breloom pair well, as the two can overwhelm Latias and put it in range of the other. Infernape is notable as it can eliminate many of the Rocky Helmet users that harass Urshifu-RS, especially if it is the Nasty Plot set. A secondary Dark-type switchin, such as Buzzwole, Infernape, Primarina and Z Move Scizor is appreciated as this set does not want to lose its Choice Band from switching into Knock Off.

[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Scarf Urshifu-RS is an effective form of speed control that can also act as an offensive pivot, and an effective cleaner, outspeeding most sweepers besides Salamence and can threaten to kill most of them with STABs or the coverage move. This, combined with its above average physical bulk and serviceable typing, makes it an ideal fit for Bulky Offense teams, though it is more than welcome on Balance teams as well. Surging Strikes is its main STAB, letting it break substitutes, ignore attack drops and ignore Reflect, notably allowing it to clean vs Screens Hyper Offense. However, it must be very careful clicking this move if a potential Rocky Helmet user is around as doing so risks losing half of its health. Close Combat is its secondary and strongest STAB, hitting a majority of Water-type resistant Pokemon for neutral. Iron Head allows it to pick off weakened Mega Altaria and 2HKO Tapu Bulu, and has a chance to flinch, allowing it to potentially revenge kill a full HP Mega Altaria in a pinch. U-turn allows Urshifu-RS to pivot out of defensive checks and into a breaker, and allows it to provide pivoting support. Unseen Fist notably prevents scouting of its move by Protect and stops Jirachi and Celesteela recovering with Wish + Protect or Leech Seed + Protect respectively. Ice Punch allows it to prevent Salamence from coming in for free, while still 2HKOing Tapu Bulu and kill weakened Mega Altaria. Poison Jab is an option over Iron Head to 2HKO Defensive Primarina and OHKO Tapu Bulu, but is much more exploitable by Steel-types and lacks the flinch chance of Iron Head.

Urshifu-RS loves Pokemon that can remove Rocky Helmet users who would otherwise deter it from clicking Surging Strikes and would chip it away from repeated U-turns. Fire-types such as Rotom-H, Infernape and Moltres threaten most Rocky Helmet users handily, and Rotom-Heat notably forms a potent pivoting core with it. Choice Band Infernape is especially notable as the combination of it and Urshifu-RS can overwhelm Latias, Hippowdon and bulky Water-types besides Mega Slowbro, making each Pokemon’s job much easier and forming a pivoting core of their own. Urshifu-RS also appreciates pivoting support to make it easier to come in without having to sack something else, which can be provided by Rotom-H, Rotom-W, Slowking and Blissey, among others. Slowking’s Future Sight notably allows Urshifu-RS to deter most Rocky Helmet users from coming in on Urshifu-RS, while Urshifu-RS prevents Dark-types that would want to sponge Future Sight for a teammate from coming in for free. Knock Off users that can lure in Buzzwole, Skarmory, Amoonguss and Hippowdon are valued partners as removing their potential Rocky Helmets massively opens up Urshifu-RS to click Surging Strikes freely. Urshifu-RS likes to have another Pokemon that can switch into Dark-types as it really does not like losing its Choice Scarf attempting to switch into Knock Off.

U-turn provides momentum and chips defensive checks such as Buzzwole idk if buzz here is the best example considering u-turn damage can barely be considered chip and u chip urself more considering helmet is a common item. a diff example like slowking here fits better and Primarina. Poison Jab allows it to 2HKO Defensive Primarina, while still hitting Tapu Bulu and Mega Altaria, but it leaves it walled by Amoonguss. Jolly allows it to outspeed Moltres and non Choice Scarf Krookodile.
