Set Description
=============

  • Wicked Blow and Close Combat are Urshifu-S's most powerful STAB moves, Wicked Blow being able beat Dark-weak Pokemon like Spectrier, Necrozma, and Cresselia. Close Combat takes care of threats like Aggron, Galarian Darmanitan, and Heatran.
  • Sucker Punch goes well with Wicked Blow and Close Combat, being able to deal the final blow on already damaged foes like Spectrier, Sawk, and Zen Mode Galarian Darmanitan, along with Custap Berry Dracozolt and Dracovish, and also being able to instantly hit Choice Specs Dragapult before it can hit Urshifu-S.
  • Bulk Up assists in matchups where it isn’t good to immediately Close Combat, such as against opposing Urshifu-S and Urshifu-R, and in tandem with Wicked Blow, can break through other set-up like Zygarde and Registeel.
  • Chople Berry lets Urshifu-S take a Superpower from Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan, Choice Band Aggron, and Choice Band Landorus-T. It also improves the matchup against opposing Urshifu-S and Urshifu-R, though this isn’t a guaranteed win.

EVs
=============

  • Maximum Speed and a Jolly nature allows Urshifu-S to outspeed targets like Galarian Darmanitan, Kyurem, Landorus-T, and non-Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. It is also useful for the mirror matchup against opposing Urshifu-S and Urshifu-R.
  • Maximum Attack is used to improve rolls against Pokemon like Rillaboom, Dragapult, and Landorus-T, along with being generally useful for every target it faces.
  • Alternatively, a bulkier spread with 244 HP, 28 Attack, 236 Defense, and an Adamant nature allows Urshifu-S to take stronger hits such as a Bolt Beak from Choice Scarf Dracozolt, a Fishious Rend from Choice Scarf Dracovish, a Choice Band boosted High Jump Kick from Pheromosa, and a Close Combat from Jolly Choice Band Haxorus. It will also help improve the matchup against Counter Crustle. However, this spread will lose out on matchups against Landorus-T, Porygon-Z, along with having significantly worse chances against Choice Specs Dragapult and the mirror matchup.

Usage Tips
=============

  • Against Spectrier, after using Wicked Blow turn one on a Will-O-Wisp from Spectrier, if you expect Spectrier to be Taunt, just use Wicked Blow again. If you expect Spectrier to be Disable, there are many ways to play this matchup out. If you do not expect them to try and Disable the Wicked Blow, use Wicked Blow again and immediately KO. If you do expect them to use Disable, Sucker Punch should be used to not get Wicked Blow disabled. On the following turn, Wicked Blow should be used again to secure the KO. If Wicked Blow ends up being disabled because of a misprediction, you will have to use your remaining Sucker Punch PP wisely and try to predict when Spectrier uses Hex.
  • Against Genesect, in most cases Urshifu-S loses, but Wicked Blow should almost always be used turn one just in case Genesect is physical, or misplays by using Steel Beam and being slower.
  • Against Coil Zygarde, Urshifu-S should always Bulk Up three times and then use Wicked Blow to always KO Zygarde and minimize the risk of getting critical hitted by Outrage or Thousand Arrows.
  • Against Dragapult, if you expect it to be Choice Specs, always use Sucker Punch turn one as Draco Meteor will always KO Urshifu-S otherwise. Sucker Punch isn’t a guaranteed KO, though.

Set Description
=============
  • Wicked Blow and Close Combat are Urshifu-S’s best STAB moves, being able to beat most threats weak to them, such as Spectrier, Necrozma, Cresselia, Jirachi, Aggron, and Heatran. Wicked Blow will also allow Urshifu-S to beat neutral threats like Regieleki.
  • Ice Punch lets Urshifu-S beat Haban Dragon Dance Zygarde and Garchomp, along with giving Urshifu-S a better chance against Galarian Moltres.
  • Fire Punch lets Urshifu-S always beat non-Steel Beam Genesect.
  • Sucker Punch, in tandem with all of the aforementioned moves, can deal the final blow on already damaged threats like Zygarde, Naganadel, and Garchomp, along with also allowing Urshifu-S to evade Disable from Spectrier and Dragapult.
  • Assault Vest is generally very useful from taking many neutral powerful special hits from Pokemon like Naganadel, Regieleki, Dragapult, and non-Choice Specs Porygon-Z.

EVs
=============
  • The Defense EVs combined with the HP allow Urshifu-S to always take a non-boosting nature Choice Band Kartana’s Sacred Sword.
  • The Special Defense EVs combined with the HP and Assault Vest allow Urshifu-S to always take a Choice Specs boosted Thunder from Regieleki, along with generally taking important hits like Choice Specs Naganadel and Dragapult’s Draco Meteor and non-Choice Specs Porygon-Z’s Hyper Beam.
  • The remaining EVs and nature are dumped into Attack.

Usage Tips
=============
  • Against Spectrier, after using Wicked Blow turn one on a Will-O-Wisp from Spectrier, always use Sucker Punch just in case Spectrier has Disable. Then, use Wicked Blow to wrap up the battle.
  • Against Aggron, always use Wicked Blow turn one and then Close Combat, so Urshifu-S won’t get the loss of Defense immediately, allowing it to almost always take a Choice Band-boosted Superpower or Low Kick.
  • If Urshifu-S has Ice Punch, against Galarian Moltres, use Ice Punch immediately and then Close Combat (and Sucker Punch if it uses Endure turn three), for the best odds of KOing Galarian Moltres without activating Berserk and not giving Urshifu-S the -1 Special Defense.
  • Against Body Press Registeel, immediately use Close Combat, and then if they use Iron Defense, always use Wicked Blow for the best chance of KOing Registeel before it can KO Urshifu-S back with Body Press.

Other Options
=============

  • A Choice Scarf set with Wicked Blow, Close Combat, Fire Punch, and Ice Punch, along with a Jolly nature and maximum Attack and Speed, can catch faster threats off-guard like Nihilego, Kartana, Choice Band Jirachi, non-Timid Scarf Genesect, Choice Scarf Galarian Darmanitan. This set is generally inferior to Urshifu-S’s main sets though, as it does not hold the utility of being able to change moves, along with being able to set up or take important hits with Assault Vest.
  • A Life Orb set with Wicked Blow, Close Combat, Sucker Punch, and Bulk Up, along with maximum Attack and Speed with an Adamant nature will allow Urshifu-S to beat virtually almost every Zygarde, along with Pokemon that normally can beat Urshifu-S like Choice Band Jirachi and Choice Specs Dragapult. This set is generally inferior to Chople Berry though.
