[OVERVIEW]
Charizard's overall solid stats, great typing, and splendid movepool allow it to perform multiple roles effectively, such as special wallbreaker and physical sweeper, which helps distinguish it from its main competition in Talonflame. Its typing and decent bulk also give it a fair amount of defensive utility, allowing it to check threats like Ribombee. However, Charizard struggles to get past many metagame staples like Gigalith and Vaporeon, while its Speed tier leaves it unable to check multiple threats that Talonflame can like Virizion and Dragon Dance Scrafty.

[SET COMMENTS]
Charizard makes for a great wallbreaker and offensive check to Pokemon like Ribombee, Tsareena, and Gallade. Defog allows Charizard to clear all entry hazards and is the preferred option due to Charizard's ability to force out common entry hazard setters like Palossand and Weezing. Toxic cripples switch-ins such as Lanturn and Gigalith; it also allows Charizard to pressure Vaporeon and Jellicent more effectively. Lastly, Focus Blast immediately pressures Rock-types like Regirock. Fighting-types like Virizion and Swords Dance Toxicroak appreciate Charizard pressuring their switch-ins such as Garbodor. In exchange, they can take on Charizard's answers like Gigalith, Lanturn, and Vaporeon. Pokemon like Sandaconda, Togedemaru, and Assault Vest Guzzlord make for good partners thanks to their ability to take on attackers that force Charizard out like Lycanroc, Heliolisk, and Omastar, respectively. On sun teams, Solar Power is an option, as it makes Charizard significantly harder to switch into. On such teams, it should forego Hurricane for Solar Beam and run Weather Ball in the fourth moveslot, and Choice Specs is an option over Heavy-Duty Boots. Charizard should also be paired with other Pokemon that take advantage of sun such as Shiftry.

[SET COMMENTS]
Charizard's impressive Speed and coverage allows it to outspeed common Choice Scarf users like Togedemaru and Passimian as well as threaten its would-be switchins such as Gigalith after a Dragon Dance. Roost allows Charizard to switch into threats like Ribombee and Whimsicott as well as set up more easily, while Thunder Punch is Charizard's best option against Water-types like Vaporeon and Jellicent, having a solid chance of 2HKOing the latter; it also hits Archeops. Charizard's middling Attack means it can't sweep unless the opposing team is very weakened; this makes wallbreakers like Vikavolt and Alolan Exeggutor very appreciated. They can both take on defensive behemoths such as Jellicent and Regirock that Charizard struggles against. Vacuum Wave Toxicroak can check Lycanroc; similarly, Froslass can wear down its shared checks with Charizard, like Vaporeon, as well as set Spikes. Dual screens setters such as Xatu and Uxie make it easier for Charizard to safely set up, as its otherwise somewhat underwhelming bulk can make it hard to find setup oppurtunies without getting significantly worn down.

However, Charizard struggles to get past many meta staples like Gigalith and Jellicent mention vaporeon instead imo since it eats hurricane easier while its speed tier leaves it unable to check multiple threats that Talonflame can like Virizion and Dragon Dance Scrafty.

Defog allows Charizard to clear all entry hazards and is the preferred option due to Charizard's ability to force out common entry hazards setters like Sandaconda maybe make this like mespirit? since sandaconda can glare or stone edge on the defog and Weezing. On Sun teams, Solar Power is an option as it makes Charizard significantly harder to switch into. mention how it should be specs on sun teams On such teams, it should forego Hurricane for Solar Beam and the fourth slot for Weather Ball. sun set might feel more smooth if it's at the end and can comfortably mention like shiftry to clean up after zard breaks Teammates like Virizion and Swords Dance Toxicroak appreciate Charizard pressuring their switch-ins such as Garbodor. In exchange, they can take on Charizard's answers like Gigalith, Lanturn, and Vaporeon. Pokemon like Palossand, Togedemaru, and Assault Vest Guzzlord make for good partners thanks to their ability to take on attackers that force Charizard out like Lycanroc, Heliolisk, and Omastar, respectively.

mention somewhere that its speed tier still is p good even if it's not tflame, like how it can check some of the mid speed fightings

Charizard's impressive Speed and coverage allows it to outspeed common Choice Scarf users like Togedemaru and Passimian as well as threaten its would-be switchins such as Gigalith after a Dragon Dance. Thunder Punch is Charizard's best option to hit Water-types like Vaporeon and Jellicent, having a solid chance of 2HKOing the latter include archeops as an example. Dual Wingbeat hits Fighting-types like Passimian and Gallade harder than Flare Blitz and without the subsequent recoil damage, while Roost gives Charizard more utility through the game and allows it to switch into threats like Ribombee and Whimsicott and lets its set up more comfortably on stuff. Charizard's middling Attack means it can't sweep unless the opposing team is very weakened; this makes wallbreakers like Virizion and Nasty Plot Toxicroak imo put smth over croak since it has to set up to be threatening very appreciated. They can both take on defensive behemoths such as Jellicent and Regirock that Charizard struggles against. Similarly, Froslass can wear down its shared checks with Charizard like Vaporeon as well as set Spikes. Dual screens setters such as Xatu and Uxie make it easier for Charizard to safely setup, as its otherwise somewhat underwhelming bulk can make it hard to find setup oppurtunies.
i think mentioning what it can set up on is good for outside of screens
lycan being ass for it should be mentioned again for the DD set imo

Charizard's overall solid stats, great typing, and splendid movepool allow it to perform multiple roles effectively and help it distinguish itself from its main competition in Talonflame; it can run both specially and physically offensive set successfully, making for a good wallbreaker as well as a decent setup sweeper yeah this sentence has real analysis-syndrome. feels like it suffers from exactly what ur new thread wants to alleviate. a better way of framing what ur saying might be "zard's special breaking power and physical sweeping potential set it apart from tflame and make it a standout threat" obviously rewrite that how you want but I think it's a step in the right direction. However, Charizard struggles to get past many meta staples like Gigalith and Vaporeon while its Speed tier leaves it unable to check multiple threats that Talonflame can like Virizion and Dragon Dance Scrafty.
no mention of its defensive utility is a bit of a waste, few special breakers have as much usefulness as zard let alone DD sweepers

Lastly, Focus Blast immediately pressures answers rock-types, no need to not be specific there like Regirock. Teammates Fighting-types? more specific is usually better like Virizion and Swords Dance Toxicroak appreciate Charizard pressuring their switch-ins and this could be physical walls ig but less necessary such as Garbodor. In exchange, they can take on Charizard's answers like Gigalith, Lanturn, and Vaporeon. Pokemon like Sandaconda, Togedemaru, and Assault Vest Guzzlord make for good partner thanks to their ability to take on attackers that force Charizard out like Lycanroc, Heliolisk, and Omastar, respectively. move 4: Thunder Punch / Dual Wingbeat / Roost this moveset change I feel much more strongly about, drop Dual Wingbeat and move roost to the first slot. it lets you use zard before it has to sweep, it lets you set up on some damage dealers, I just think that outweighs Tpunch's clear usefulness. and wingbeat is like why

Charizard's middling Attack means it can't sweep unless the opposing team is very weakened; this makes wallbreakers like Virizion and Nasty Plot Toxicroak very appreciated same exact examples as the last set is not gud. They can both take on defensive behemoths such as Jellicent and Regirock that Charizard struggles against, and Vacuum Wave Toxicroak can check Lycanroc. I've won setting up on shit that does 70% bc that's all u need, but even besides that 78/78/85 is pretty reasonable.
on this set I think mentioning status spreaders as partners makes a lot of sense, particularly toxic. most of its checks you'd really like poisoned and it can roost stall in a pinch
