Ok this back and forth is getting kind of ridiculous. Light that shines you really need to stop triple posting and posting teams outside of hide tags / pastes and just generally cluttering up the thread for no reason (triple posts especially are just unnecessarily excessive). Also winning random games on the ladder is not an instant metric of success, the team still has significant flaws such as: Palkia sucking, Mega Gengar just straight up winning, losing to teams that manage to get rocks up on Sableye with things like Rocks Arceus-Fairy because then it can't rely on lugia to check all the threats that break everything else, putting out practically zero offensive pressure, and more. I just think the general concept isn't good, I'm supposed to be the ag rater but it's hard to know how to even fix a team like this outside of replacing and reworking a lot.
e: at the very least, think about dropping clefable and palkia and revamping the fairyceus set, going a much bulkier route, and adding an actual defogger because the team really needs that
Mixing Dat Beat(Respect) while I admit this team is really hard to make passable, posting what's practically just one-liners of advice that's not terribly helpful or straight up wrong like the Lugia loses to Megaray bit really doesn't help.
Oh and Chloe we should totally sample WTF THHE STALLS's rmt he posted here make it happen pls.

This is a balanced team
there are SO many problems with this team. First off, remove thunder punch on pdon, its not gud. Ill let someone else deal with EV's. Theres literally no reason to run protect on pogre, it does nothing. Marshadow is a disaster. Sash is a meh item, knock off is bad, drain punch is bad, and so is ice punch. Poisonceus is somehow even worse than that. Why are u running swords dance when ur only physical move is espeed? Toxic is p bad, dont run judgement if its physical. mkanga is unviable in AG, either run mray or mgar. And lastly, darkrai is similarly unviable, but even if u did run that, u have no STAB moves. I'd also like to add that this is definitely not a balance team, it's a hyper offense team. I'm going to let someone else deal with this disaster of a team, cause I'm too scared for humanity after seeing this. You could make a better team off of all smogon suggested sets. I think the marsh and poisonceus sets broke me.

This team is really fun to use and I think branches out from your normal BO. Takes a bit of pivoting and you can add shed shell to skarm in ferro if you feel the need, sneak over sub is also an option.
I rly like this team. One minor weakness i would say would be pogre once ferro is gone, but marsh can easily revenge kill it. A bit of a weakness to band ray, but once again you have reliable switch ins once it has revealed what move its using. Overall, extremely solid balance team, and I'll be testing it out!

Edit: REalized ur team is a bit pdon weak, and eruption variants roll over this. Maybe waterceus over fairceus? idk, I'm not the best balance user lol

Nice team but rock ceus ev is horrible. I did some calcs and I honestly have no clue why u have it. It doesn't help with anything except turning that 75% chance ohko from CC Marsh into 43%. Since u lack hp on it, u can't set up on those non toxic support ground arcs anymore after rocks unless u get super lucky with rolls. Scarf xern will 2ko and u won't be able to switchin to yveltal reliably after rocks since it does like 65% which will force u into a 50/50

thoughts on this set to toxic opposing support-arc leads?

bonus pic:
The idea of dropping bb is certainly an interesting one I hadn't seen before, and it makes a certain amount of sense given that BB's additional power and coverage don't really mean a huge deal when it can toxic-stall threats like pdon and arc formes. If anything, only having 8pp to attack things with might be an issue, but then taunt isn't overly common outside of maybe yveltal anyway.

I can't say I'm familiar with those EVs though - surely putting more in HP and less in SpD gives the same Special bulk and more Physical bulk? For example:
252+ SpA Xerneas Thunder vs. 80 HP / 252 SpD Ho-Oh: 156-184 (41.8 - 49.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Xerneas Thunder vs. 248 HP / 84 SpD Ho-Oh: 172-204 (41.4 - 49.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

I'd suppose so! Nice catch. I think I even originally had it as that anyway, not sure why or when it was changed D:

As this is a dead thread, I thought I'd share a meme(ish?) set that I've been having some success with.

Ability: Multitype
EVs: 40 Def / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind

What, Iceus? With a Z-move?

This set is actually very nice against a multitude of threats in the metagame currently, such as Zygarde (Judgment/Blizzard OHKOs unboosted, obviously), Arceus-Ground (Judgment/Blizzard OHKOs at +1), and Mega Rayquaza (Judgment/Blizzard OHKOs unboosted, even without rocks in Strong Winds). However, the best part about it is that it gets to lure Primal Groudon (by setting up a CM):

+1 252+ SpA Arceus-Ice Subzero Slammer (185 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Groudon-Primal: 363-427 (90 - 105.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Note that this is against maximum SpD Groudon.

Of course, the main thing holding Arceus-Ice back is a SR weakness, as well as having 3 other weaknesses which are all fairly common offensive types and only one resistance. However, ice is an amazing offensive STAB typing, and the plethora of ice moves it can switch into easily in the metagame (IB from Support Arceus and Primal Kyogre, mainly) don't hurt it either. Add that to BoltBeam coverage and you have a potent offensive 'mon.

Team support is required to make this 'mon shine, and Blizzard's bad accuracy hurts it quite a bit, but this is an unexpected set for many players and can rip apart teams in conjunction with something that likes Primal Groudon being gone (notably Primal/Scarf Kyogre).

Anyways, this 'mon is very potent and ought to be treated with care, even if it is a meme coming from a meme.

Looking at the role compendium I would recommend a few changes that I think would improve it:

Baton pass Pokemon - I think shedninja should be added to the list of baton pass Pokemon, as while it wouldn’t go on a full bp chain or bp any useful stats, in terms of general play shed will always use baton pass as it is very annoying to deal with as it will give them the momentum. I get shed isn’t used that much, but honestly neither are most of them on there.

Choice specs users - I think Lunala should be moved from niche to solid, honestly specs Lunala is one of my favourite sets and it can 2hko a large portion of the meta and cause some serious holes for unprepared teams. Personally I would say it’s better than all the other niche choice specs users on there and just as good as xern and yve.

Z move users- I think naga should also move from niche to solid, this thing is a beast when used right and can break certain stall and balance builds with its z move. Also the fact that Z move is the only this thing is ever going to use is also important to show it’s what makes the Pokemon pretty decent.

Just some thoughts that I think could be put in place, nothing too serious would be interested to know peoples thoughts are on these changes.

As OMPL has concluded, and many of the current listed sample teams are outdated; I would like to encourage people to submit sample teams again. If you choose to submit a sample team please ensure it fits the following criteria:
  • Make sure it's a good team.
  • Relatively simple to use. Don't submit complicated or niche Thimo-esque teams unless they're simple enough for a new player to use. :blobnom:
  • Represents the current metagame. For example do not post a team that gets 6-0'd by Dusk Mane Necrozma or lacks suitable Marshadow answers. :blobpex:
  • You have experience with the team. Don't submit something you have just built and have not tested. :blobthinking:

Sprites are cool if you wanna make me happy but I don't really care either way. Any sample submissions lacking a working team importable and at least a brief description will be deleted.

I'll be updating the samples post after two weeks or so with new team submissions; however, samples can be submitted any time after that as well.

This team consists of 5 threats and Excadrill. It features Life Orb taunt Yveltal, imo an underused set that is still very potent on hyper offense, the best setup sweeper in AG being Dragon Dance Mray, Calm Mind Unecro and Arceus-Flying; both which can easily sweep unprepared teams, and finally mixed eruption Pdon, stalls worst nightmare

Some things to keep in mind when using this team: It is prone to setup mons and is a bit weak to certain ones such as Ekiller, geo Xern, and dd Mray. The key is to not give your opponent a good opportunity to setup by making necessary doubles and keeping up pressure with stealth rock. Worst case scenario most of the time you can revenge kill with espeed Mray or sucker Yveltal.

Choice spam Balance: https://pokepast.es/ca0a3f7236f9fe24

They said it couldn't be done, they said he wouldn't put 3 choice items on the same team, guess what. This build is very solid and in my opinion a very good balance, featuring banded Mray, banded Ho-oh, scarf Xern, stealth rock Arceus-Poison, Life Orb Marshadow, and defog Arceus-Dark. I feel that this team does well versus any playstyle and has the necessary support to give you a chance of winning even with a bad matchup. Banded Mray and Ho-oh which both have great movepools which are almost impossible to switch into supply plenty of offense for this team, along with Life Orb Marshadow which is fantastic at revenge killing and in late game scenarios. Arceus-Poison and Arceus-Dark, both top tier supportceus do their job fairly well of checking big threats in the tier such as geo Xerneas, Necrozma Dusk-Mane/Ultra, Yveltal, and certain arceus forms. Finally, Scarf Xerneas which can be a good win-con once eliminating their Xern switch in (Pdon, Dusk-Mane, Arceus-Poison).

Certain threats to be wary of while using this team: Xerneas has no form of recovery, make sure to be careful around dragon dance Zygarde. Overall this team is not weak to Mray but keep in mind that there are no good switch ins to the Sky High pokemon so you may have to revenge kill.

Mgar Stall: https://pokepast.es/5457cd7567f6c93f

Do you enjoy wasting your opponents time? Do you take satisfaction in working hard for that sweet victory that took 300 turns and 45 minutes? Well look somewhere else because this is Mega-Gengar stall, the only stall where you're trying not to have a 500 turn battle.

The objective of this team is to neutralize any opposing threats with a smart and patient playstyle, then take out such threats by weakening them with status or attacks. Such threats include: Setup sweepers, Hazzards, and any mons that can hit hard enough that you can't recover the HP taken. This team is well balanced and has checks for essentially everything in the AG meta.

Things to keep in mind when using this stall: Necrozma Dusk-Mane/Ultra is a tough mon to check for this team, Mgar is fantastic at revenge killing but you need to make sure it's mega evolved so you can trap them with Shadow Tag. Admittedly you should have a little bit of knowledge of the Anything Goes meta before using this stall. If you do not then you may not know which mons to switch in at certain times.

hi i have another team to show for the sample teams https://pokepast.es/3ac58b39b34e7481 this kee berry ygod is probs weird but it can do alot vs sd necro cuz i will get 1.5 def boost after they hit me so i will be able 2 live 3 times instead of a regular 2 same thing goes for ray or regular arc this kee ygod team is a support against probs like arc ground and like thats what arc water is for to check cm or sd arc ground and the rest of the team bascally covers the most used mons in ag pls pls put it on the samples list :). If got questions pm Ethreal ghost aka P4andak1ng11 ;o

There are currently no Lunala teams in the sample teams, and I wished to make a suitable Lunala team that covers a lot of threats and serves consistency. This Lunala Balance not only is aesthetically pleasing, but after testing on ladder and in challenges has proved to be difficult to handle. Specs Lunala and Choice Banded Mega Rayquaza are the main wallbreakers of the team, dealing huge amounts of damage to anything attempting to switch into it. Defensive Yveltal proves to be a very consistent switch in to Dusk Mane, Ekiller and Arceus-Ground, which would all pressure this team without Yveltal. If Ultra Necrozma is carrying Stone Edge, it can be easily revenged with either scarfed Xerneas or Lunala. Scarfed Xerneas and Arceus-Poison act as the main switch ins to Yveltal, with Yveltal finding it difficult to break Arceus-Poison due to its immunity to Toxic and the fact it has added SpD bulk, and can hurt Yveltal with Poison Jab. Xerneas also comfortably switches in to Dark Pulse and can immediately respond with Moonblast. Defensive Yveltal can also switch in easily to Scarf Yveltal and sometimes the rare specs set. Choice Banded Mega Rayquaza hits as hard as possible, being the main answer to stall for this team. Arceus-Poison runs Perish Song and Willo-O-Wisp to help deal with Calm Mind Arceus and Marshadow, as well as an emergecy Vivillon answer which this team is desperately weak to. Primal Groudon adds the finishing touch, serving as a comfortable Primal Kyogre and Arceus-Steel switch in, as well as being able to lay Stealth Rock to pressure the opponent. Dragon Tail is used to phase out Dragon Dance Mega Rayquaza which is very dangerous for this team, and Precipice Blades hits Arceus-Poison and Primal Kyogre.

0417CDD4-4020-4364-8DCD-F63925F7302B.png

This team is just really anti-ladder and really basic to use which is another great bonus as to why this should be added as a sample team.

https://pokepast.es/e9fae9fc0441639a

I built this with Skarpherim, so if this does get chosen he deserves some credit too. I used this in OMPL vs EzyRider, with the only difference being this team has life orb Marshadow over scarfed which is much better. Again, there is only one Primal Kyogre sample which I personally don't think is very good no offense to cata, and so I wanted to make a better Primal Kyogre team to make samples. The main idea of this team is for Mega Rayquaza to apply huge offensive pressure as it switches in on Primal Groudon with its Choice Band set, and if Mega Rayquaza is able to chip Primal Groudon substantially it should open the door for Primal Kyogre to cause serious damage. I went into more detail of this team in the post OMPL thread so not really going to do that again, I just think it's a pretty solid balance team that works well against most teams. Substitute Ekiller is probably the main threat to this team, but looking at it it can't set up on too much, Judge/wisp with fairy is a 50 50, toxic Arceus-Dark most likely outspeeds and can cripple with Toxic, Arceus-Poison can P song as it subs, and Mega Rayquaza, Marshadow and Primal Kyogre all do huge amounts of damage to Arceus. I chose to use pursuit on Marshadow to help the Mega Gar MU as its pretty tough, which is why I also have Earth Power Arceus-Poison to help surprise and chip Mega Gengar substantially.

Excadrill HO by Pigeons

https://pokepast.es/bedd24e0debf7d86
This is an Excadrill HO I built for OMPL that I'm quite fond of. The general strategy is quite simple, set hazards with Excadrill and then use the two wallbreakers on the team (Primal Kyogre and Mega Rayquaza) to bust holes in the opponent's defensive core so something else can clean up. Fairyceus doesn't do a whole lot of damage but safeguards the team against Marshadow, DD Zygarde and Choice Scarf Mega Rayquaza which are otherwise very scary for offense. There's a lot of synergy on this team, Steelceus and Primal Kyogre work in tandem to overwhelm Primal Goudon, Primal Kyogre can double switch into Steelceus counters like Ho-Oh, Mega Rayquaza and Marshadow overwhelm support Arceus forms, Steelceus pivots into Mega Rayquaza's checks and so on. While the general strategy of this team is simple it's important to think long-term as well, there are matchups where you cannot afford to let either of the priority users go down or where it's vital to preserve Fairyceus, failing to consider late-game scenarios can result in games being lost despite having initial momentum. If you don't like Bulk Up Marshadow, Life Orb with Rock Tomb is just as good here. If you want more details check out the RMT here.

this is my favourite team in my entire builder. Fairy Lock and Eject Button keys trap any pokemon except ghost types / shed shell users for one turn and gives free switch in to any other pokemon in the team. I chose Block Xern + Block Zygarde for this team because they can trap and set up on most common pokemons (Xern sets up on pretty much every supportceus except poison / steel, zygarde sets up on ferrothorn, ho-oh, defensive dm, pdon etc etc). Fairy Lock + Scarf Ray removes other threats that bother Xern or Zygarde like Magearna, Offensive DM / Defensive DM, weakened supportceus, Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon and make way for Xern / Zygarde to sweep the remaining team. Poisonceus and waterceus are defensive pivots on the team. they check DM, Xern and cm arceus if they try to set up. Overall its a super fun and easy team to use.

https://pokepast.es/5cad4e101c8b633b
Pretty standard balance made around Taunt 3 attacks MMY + Cm refresh Fairyceus. MMY + Fairyceus is a pretty cool core. MMY is really good because of its high spatk and amazing coverage. Cm fairyceus beats threats like yveltal and arceus-dark. Primal Groudon / Celesteela / Zygarde / Poisonceus do what they do, not much to say here.

https://pokepast.es/dcdb08aaf6a508c8
Another very standard balance team. Lunala is reallyy underrated rn. Tyranitar beats Yveltal and Darkceus which are the biggest threats for lunala. Waterceus checks physical attackers like pdon, dm, marsh and ekiller. Arceus-poison + Ferrothorn are very good specially defensive walls. Scarf Ray revenge kills most pokemons bcz of its high attack and speed.

https://pokepast.es/72467ef68ddcbd36
here are the rest of my teams, most of them are below par but they're alphabetically organized with the playstyle mentioned, thats pretty cool right? enjoy :)

hi i'm submitting lukesquad

So I was looking through my teambuilder today to find the kind of generic-ish team that would actually be considerable (maybe? idk) for samples. And... I think that I've found it.

Version 1
I made this version mostly on my own outside of a bit of inspiration. This team was made for Corpsewood Manor (who I don't believe has a smogon account) because I liked how he made his spam teams. Corpse + spam = Corpsespam, resulting in the following Ghostceus spam. The original team had another Ghostceus instead of a Darkceus, but I found myself to be lacking in a Ultra Necrozma check. Mewtwo's set changed over and over again, but I've found this to always be the best for the team. Ghostceus spreads are standard and Ghost + Fighting is perfect neutral coverage, so I have that on both Ghostceus. Fairyceus has Will-O-Wisp for Dusk Mane and Darkceus has Toxic because Toxic is broken. Heal Bell on Magearna helps with being chipped down by status. Mewtwo can deal with mGar, Marshadow, and Darkceus/Steelceus/eKiller, but make sure that it hasn't taken any chip. Fairyceus and Darkceus are EV'd to speedcreep Drifblim (blame Xynix) by one point.
Version 2
This version was made with CM himself (well, I passed it to him, and he made some changes and passed it back to me, and I made some more changes). The Arceuses are mostly the same, except that Fairyceus and Darkceus have Defog and Stealth Rock switched and MMX is now a Stalltwo (it was a Taunt + Recover MMY first after CM made his changes). Still basically the same thing, but Stalltwo lets you beat a lot more threats. You can also PP stall a lot of things and beat even some mons who hit you Super Effectively.

I don't really expect this to be accepted as a sample but I'll never know if I don't post it, so here it is. Enjoy?
