Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
IVs: 29 HP
Modest Nature
- Rain Dance
- Hydro Pump
- Giga Drain / Energy Ball
- Ice Beam

Ludicolo is a great check to Specs Jelli as it can switch into one Shadow Ball, click Giga Drain, heal enough HP to tank another Shadow Ball and KO with another Giga Drain or literally OHKO with Energy Ball but be more of a risk.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Jellicent Shadow Ball vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ludicolo: 160-190 (53.5 - 63.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Energy Ball vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Jellicent: 312-369 (91.4 - 108.2%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Jellicent: 265-312 (77.7 - 91.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO [44.3 - 52.1% recovered]
Drain Ludicolo only loses in the absolute worst case scenario (with rocks) of 2 max roll Shadow Balls and a min roll Giga Drain and only due to taking LO recoil

Kecleon @ Assault Vest
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
- Shadow Sneak
- Sucker Punch

Kecleon is a counter to Specs Jelli. Shadow Ball is always a free switch, and Kecleon can switch into a full-HP Water Spout and do enough damage with Sucker Punch to avoid the 2HKO. Knock Off always OHKOes Jelli, and Sucker Punch + Shadow Sneak is a 2HKO.

At full health:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Jellicent Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Kecleon: 172-204 (53 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

After one min-damage Sucker Punch:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Jellicent Water Spout (34 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Kecleon: 40-48 (12.3 - 14.8%) -- possible 7HKO

252+ Atk Protean Kecleon Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Jellicent: 362-428 (106.1 - 125.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Protean Kecleon Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Jellicent: 264-312 (77.4 - 91.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Raticate-Alola @ Choice Band
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Return

Functions similarly to Skunk as a check, but the difference is that Rat's power means you don't even have to predict to trap it:

252+ Atk Choice Band Hustle Raticate-Alola Pursuit vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Jellicent: 290-344 (85 - 100.8%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

You switch in on Shadow Ball too, obviously, but regardless of what it clicks as long as you have a spike or rocks up it's a 1-1 trade at worst.

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Encore / Toxic
- Recover

Water Absorb Quagsire is a counter.

With these EVs Quagsire still covers multiple Physical Threats but also covers Jellicent now for Balance/Bulky Offense with the SpD given you take a shadow ball and with Water Absorb Water Spout is no longer problematic.

I knocked down all of the counters nominated this week to checks, so instead of posting my reasoning for each, I'll just make this a general reminder to check definitions and calcs. However, if you posted a counter and want to know why it was made a check, feel free to ask me.

Vote for 2 checks.

I have to vote Cradily and Articuno. These are two of the more reliable checks right now. Of course you have the Pursuit trappers, with Skuntank being the most reliable, but they aren't as consistent; especially when you're either trading Defog on Skuntank or potentially missing Pursuit if they stay in with Jellicent, meaning Hydro Pump could bop you (I do actually rate Choice Band Raticate however, it's a fun Pokémon right now). I refuse to even believe in Water Absorb Quagsire because of the practicality of fitting it on a functioning team. Both Kecleon and Ludicolo are meh checks to it, but do the job. Drampa and Lanturn just take too much as defensive checks, and Ice Beam Jellicent is the most common set right now.

Ludicolo @ Grassium Z / Waterium Z / Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump / Surf
- Giga Drain
- Ice Beam
- Rain Dance / Focus Blast

Ludicolo serves as a check here. Ludicolo walls Omastar's Hydro Pump / Hydro Vortex and it's Earth Power / Tectonic Rage and OHKO's in easy fashion with one Giga Drain thanks to no Focus Sash:

252+ SpA Life Orb Ludicolo Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Omastar: 733-863 (260.8 - 307.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Ludicolo can also come in as Omastar is Shell Smashing which is nice because on the very next turn (barring a 10% freeze or 1/24 chance for a crit), can take a neutral +2 Ice Beam and then Ludi retaliates with Giga!

+2 252+ SpA Omastar Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ludicolo: 197-232 (65.4 - 77%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Manectric @ Choice Scarf
Timid Nature
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Overheat
- Hidden Power Grass

Scarf Manectric is a check to Omastar. Its speed tier allows it to outspeed Omastar after a Shell Smash boost, and it can OHKO with either Thunderbolt or HP Grass. Mane's ability to OHKO Omastar with STAB and coverage moves allows it to play prediction games with opposing Electric resists/immunities -- Volt Switch also allows it to retain momentum, but needs a bit of prior chip damage to ensure the KO.

252 SpA Manectric Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Omastar: 338-402 (120.2 - 143%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Manectric Hidden Power Grass vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Omastar: 304-360 (108.1 - 128.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Manectric Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Omastar: 266-314 (94.6 - 111.7%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

Lilligant @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Energy Ball
- Healing Wish
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Scarf Lilligant is a good offensive check to Omastar. It can switch in on a Shell Smash and easily KO with Energy Ball. It can even switch in on a +2 Hydro Pump if rocks aren't up and it doesn't crit.

+2 252+ SpA Omastar Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Lilligant: 229-270 (81.4 - 96%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Lilligant Energy Ball vs. -1 0 HP / 0 SpD Omastar: 1056-1248 (375.8 - 444.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Togedemaru @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Zing Zap
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Toxic

Decent check to Omastar, if its defenses are dropped due to Shell Smash it can pick it off assuming it's not carrying White Herb, and without drops it can still chunk with Zing Zap, threatening with a flinch or a priority user in the back.
