Welcome! We all know what lures are and what they do: specific Pokemon that run an unexpected move or moveset in order to weaken or directly OHKO a specific threat and pave the way for another sweeper. This allows the other Pokemon on a team to have an easier time carrying out their roles to win a game. Having said that though, a good deal of lures used by battlers aren't really that optimal, so this project forms a competition to see what creative and effective ideas people can come up with.

Process
  • Every week, I will post a threat in the UU metagame alongside a set and a brief description of how it works.
  • The community will then have around four days to nominate Pokemon (with sets) that they feel are effective lures to that specific threat. Each person may nominate one lure per week.
  • Remember to include a short description of the lure and how it works.
  • There will then be a three day voting period in which users can vote on the lure that they believe is the best. Each user is allowed one vote.
  • Once the voting period has concluded, the lure with the highest number of votes will be added to the archive. A new set will then be posted.
Rules
  • You must post a set and an explanation of why your chosen Pokemon is a good lure alongside your nomination. Damage calculations are appreciated and will help better illustrate your point but are not required.
  • Please focus on only posting viable Pokemon as lures. As a general rule of thumb, only nominating Pokemon found in the UU Viability Rankings is a good idea. Nominations can be rejected on the basis of the Pokemon being unviable.
  • You are welcome to reserve a lure, but only if you plan to complete the write-up within 12 hours. Other users may nominate the Pokemon themselves if you fail to meet this time requirement.
  • Do not ask anyone for votes, offer votes, exchange votes, or try to manipulate the voting in any way under any circumstances. You should vote for the lure that is the most effective for each round.
Things to ask yourself before posting a lure
  • Does this Pokemon have to sacrifice anything important? If you're losing a key part of a set just for an uncommon threat that isn't even lured in, that is what we call a "bad lure;" always consider what you give up in order to lure something, that is very important.
  • Does this Pokemon gain anything important when using this moveset? Does this Pokemon or the team benefit from the lure?
  • Could this method be better aided through teammates? Does your lure need team support to carry out its role effectively?
  • Is this set uncommon enough to be really considered a lure? Would your opponent, under normal battle conditions, expect to be able to safely switch the Pokemon into your lure?

Metagross @ Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 192 HP / 96 Atk / 220 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Natural Gift

Not really a common set but that set can be a really good lure to Scizor especially Choice Band. He can Outspeed Adamant Band Scizor 252speed with his 220evs on speed,You can also run 56evs on Speed to Outspeed the set presented above.
After fixing the problem to be faster, you have Natural Gift fire with 96 + Atk and Occa Berry which allows the OHKO widely.
Calc: 96+ Atk Occa Berry Metagross Natural Gift (80 BP Fire) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Scizor: 356-420 (126.6 - 149.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
The Occa berry can also tank other fire type attacks like the Volcanion's Flamethrower/Fire Blast (not specs) and "Destroy" his Hps with Earthquake:
252+ SpA Volcanion Fire Blast vs. 192 HP / 0 SpD Occa Berry Metagross: 216-255 (61.8 - 73%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
96+ Atk Metagross Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Volcanion: 190-224 (62.9 - 74.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(Watmel Berry is really useless compared to the Occa Berry)
the rest of the Evs go into hps (192) which allow in particular to "tank" 2/3 U-turns of Scizor Band if the game does not troll you.
252+ Atk Choice Band Scizor U-turn vs. 192 HP / 0 Def Metagross: 151-178 (43.2 - 51%) -- 4.7% chance to 2HKO

Slowbro @ Icium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Slack Off

Usually, a common switch in for Slowbro on offensive team would be Latias. This set capitalizes on it by setting up Calm Mind on the switch and catching it with a Z-Move. Even CM Latias falls to you. This also isn't completely useless outside of Latias, as it also hits Celebi, Hydreigon, Serperior, Mega Altaria, Gliscor (harder than Scald) and more. Reducing damage from Knock Off and being immune to Trick is very nice as well. The only downside is that when the opponent sees no Leftovers and a mega slot already taken, they might assume it's Icium Z. However, this is a very minor issue imo (bluffing mega can work) and still works good.

Hydreigon @ Poisonium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Belch
- U-turn

This set was more common during Azumarill meta, but is still good. The goal is to lure Fairies with Z-Belch for other things to clean later. A good thing about this set is that nobody expects it or scouts for it because it's declined and has seen little usage after Azumarill left. It also hits other Fairies, so it's not completely useless outside of Altaria and isn't prediction-reliant. It does about 80% to max HP Altaria and even has a chance to OHKO offensive after rocks + Dark Pulse. The last move is customizeable, but I think U-Turn is the most effective at doing its job because you can bluff Scarf.

Blissey (F) @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 144 HP / 252 Def / 112 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Focus Blast
- Soft-Boiled
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock/heal bell/Seismic toss

Pretty straightforward, Z focus blast ohkos and blissey lives an unboosted cc. Also DENTS other threats.

Rotom-Mow @ Psychium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dream Eater
- Leaf Storm
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt / Hidden Power Fire / Defog

252 SpA Rotom-Mow Shattered Psyche (180 BP) vs. 252 HP / 72+ SpD Amoonguss: 340-400 (78.7 - 92.5%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Z-Dream Eater Rotom-Mow is the revival of the great Z-Dream Eater Rotom-Wash that I advocated for so long ago. After pretty much any chip damage, including Rotom-Mow's own Thunderbolt or Hidden Power Fire. Defog sets have slightly higher difficulty in chipping down Amoonguss to the proper level, but it can do so with team support nonetheless, and Defog is still important sometimes for the role compression. Heavily weakening or KOing Amoonguss then paves the way for ZDE Mowtom's best partner, Mega Altaria!

Cobalion @ Fightinium Z / Steeluim Z / Shuca Berry / Leftovers [this thing can run a lot of items, whatever you'd want really depending on the team]
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Stone Edge

So, moltres is typically a very safe switch in to cobalion, and as it can be run as a stealth ocker it would want to switch into rocks to be able to defog, or get a safe hit off since typically the stabs of Coba won't hurt it much. That's where stone edge comes in. Stone edge is 4x effective and can easily kill moltres if not scouted for.

Cobalion @ Electrium Z / Fightinium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Flash Cannon
- Focus Blast
- Volt Switch / Hidden Power Grass

Uses alomomomomomola as the most guaranteed setup bait ever w/ immunity to Toxic and taking pitiful damage from Knock Off or Scald. Proceeds to kill and then run through most stall teams. Volt Switch is better vs Balance / Offense to use Coba as a pivot and vs Pyukumuku with Electrium-Z, HP Grass is an option to be self sufficient in beating Quagsire.

0 SpA Alomomola Scald vs. +1 0 HP / 4 SpD Cobalion: 37-45 (11.4 - 13.9%) -- possible 8HKO

+1 252 SpA Cobalion All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 40 HP / 216 SpD Alomomola: 474-558 (98.5 - 116%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 SpA Cobalion Gigavolt Havoc (140 BP) vs. 40 HP / 216 SpD Alomomola: 466-550 (96.8 - 114.3%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

Crawdaunt @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Crabhammer
- Knock Off
- Superpower
- Aqua Jet

Hydreigon is one of Crawdaunt's strongest checks and is usually able to switch into and dispatch most traditional Crawdaunt sets. A Choice Band-boosted Superpower easily KOs Hydreigon and allows Crawdaunt to make full use of its devastatingly strong dual STABs for the rest of the game.

Pidgeot-Mega @ Pidgeotite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Heat Wave
- U-turn
- Hidden Power [Ground]

Alright so Mega Pidgeot here's seen better days for sure, but w/e it's the first thing that came off the top of my head. HP Ground obviously lures Stakataka, but also hits unevolved Aggron, Nihilego, Rhyperior and probably more stuff I cbb to mention. Pretty self-explantory.

Scizor @ Liechi Berry
Ability: Technician
EVs: 176 HP / 252 Atk / 80 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Natural Gift
- Superpower

So here we have Liechi Natural Gift Scizor. Quagsire has been infamous as an SD Scizor hard-stop on stall teams, slowing it to a crawl and ensuring it will never break the team with Quagsire's omnipresence. Or can it? With Natural Gift, Turning Liechi berry into a 100 BP grass move, Scizor can give Quagsire a nasty surprise on it's switch, either crippling it to the point that a light breeze could finish the job, or even outright KOing it.
252+ Atk Liechi Berry Scizor Natural Gift (100 BP Grass) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 384-456 (97.4 - 115.7%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
The spread even has a lot of customization options. A wise man told me "A good UU player never reveals their Scizor spreads." And honestly you can go where you want with the investments on this set as long as you retain the Quag killing max attack adamant. I personally went with outspeeding min-speed Seismitoad on this spread since this is essentially a grass move Scizor but it really doesn't matter at all, and you're free go go faster OR bulkier.
SD lets Scizor bait in Quag even harder by threatening to break otherwise with the SD, and lets Sciz still do it's usual SD + BP thing against other matchups.

Kyurem @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 32 Atk / 224 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Outrage
- Hone Claws
Kyurem is a strong special attacker even without full investment. For teams with blissey, it's usually their go to switch in. +1 32 Atk Kyurem Devastating Drake (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Blissey: 714-841 (100 - 117.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery. The hone claws boost can draw in mons like aggron into an earth power as well. Also it's satisfying seeing blissey drop in one blow to a non fighting move.

Fightinium Z Scizor
@

Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Superpower

Here's a set that used to be popular almost a year ago and has since been passed up for other Swords Dance Scizor sets that instead make use of items like Iron Plate, Life Orb, and Leftovers. It's still a decently effective option in its own right, as it can tank Knock Offs with more ease as well as nuke its checks without having to incur Superpower's Attack and Defense drops. The most common Mega Aggron spread cannot withstand a +2 Z-Superpower, and those that have some investment in their Defense stat need only take a small amount of chip damage for this Scizor set to take it down.

+2 252+ Atk Scizor All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Filter Aggron-Mega: 324-382 (94.1 - 111%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Swampert @ Icium Z
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 32 SpA / 32 SpD / 48 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Scald
- Blizzard

I wanted to bring this set in a later round of UU Open against an opponent who was known to spam Hydreigon and Chesnaught but I didn't fsr. The set works the same way Z-Ice Punch Swampert does but hits targets in the special side instead of the physical side. This set is especially useful against Pokemon like Gligar, Kommo-o, Chesnaught, and physically defensive Amoonguss which is rising in popularity now, but it still hits Dragon-type Z-Ice Punch hits; the Special Attack EVs ensure the OHKO on Hydreigon after Stealth Rock damage and on Chesnaught after a Spike or after a Scald. The Speed EVs ensures Swampert outspeeds up to uninvested Scizor and Chesnaught. The bulk makes Swampert as physically defensive as possible while minimizing the chance Hydreigon KOs Swampert with Z-Draco Meteor after Stealth Rock damage.

Crobat @ Firium Z
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heat Wave
- Nasty Plot
- Air Slash
- Roost

You can survive to Sucker Punch no boosted of Bisharp and kill him with Z Heat Wave. Even +2, u guarantee kill on Mega Lix, and after spikes/chip damage, you guarantee kill on Aggron, o_O.
Calcs oO
252 SpA Crobat Inferno Overdrive (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Bisharp: 340-400 (125.4 - 147.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252 SpA Crobat Inferno Overdrive (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Filter Aggron-Mega: 316-373 (92.1 - 108.7%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

+2 252 SpA Crobat Inferno Overdrive (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 200 SpD Steelix-Mega: 434-512 (122.5 - 144.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Togekiss @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 224 HP / 32 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Roost
- Air Slash
- Aura Sphere

Nasty Plot Fightinium Z is a really effective and well known way to lure Aggron-Mega.
The main goal is to Nasty Plot on Aggron-Mega's Switch-in and then to obliterate it with All-Out Pummeling.. plain as day !
EV spread allows Togekiss to ensure the OHKO on Aggron-Mega with +2 All-Out Pummeling while having some extra Bulk.

+2 32 SpA Togekiss All-Out Pummeling (160 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Filter Aggron-Mega: 343-405 (100 - 118%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Rotom-Heat @ Fairium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 236 HP / 20 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Disarming Voice
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Defog

when kommo tries to take an overheat or volt switch, it will certainly not expect this move. Also rotom will always outspeed an unboosted kommo. Which is why this is a dope little lure. Twinkle tackle(100bp) will always ohko kommo. It is also a pretty good lure for hydreigon. For some reason the calc isnt working for z disarming voice so I made its 40 bp to 100bp since that is the power for z disarming voice.

20 SpA Rotom-Heat Disarming Voice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Kommo-o: 292-348 (100.3 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
20 SpA Rotom-Heat Disarming Voice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Hydreigon: 336-396 (103.3 - 121.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7uu-826613023

Tornadus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Hurricane
- Superpower
- Heat Wave
- Icy Wind

So Maero doesn't fear much from Tornadus other than superpower which does around 54% which it can roost off or OHKO / force out thanks to it outspeeding + the Atk drop. However with Icy wind not only do you 2OHKO Maero but you also outspeed it thanks to the drop. The set still looks to provide speed control in some way which can be nice for whatever it is partnered with. Defiant was opted to potentially take advantage of the Attack Boost from Defog and punish things like Blissey.

252 SpA Life Orb Tornadus Icy Wind vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Aerodactyl-Mega: 161-190 (53.4 - 63.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Week 1: Choice Band Scizor

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 164 HP / 252 Atk / 92 Spe
Adamant Nature

- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Superpower
- Pursuit

The first Pokemon is Scizor, particularly the Choice Band variant. Scizor is an extremely strong and versatile UU threat, offering priority in a very strong Technician-boosted Bullet Punch, pivoting capabilities with U-turn, and the ability to trap several key threats like Latias with Pursuit. Some teams can struggle to eliminate this Pokemon, especially when it can stop some late-game sweepers like Dragon Dance Mega Altaria from winning. An efficient way of doing this is by luring Scizor.

Submissions are due by Sunday 3rd June and voting will commence shortly after that. Have fun!

Impish Nature
- Knock Off

This set doesn't as much lure Scizor as a whole as much as it lures Scizor into attacking. Alomomola needs to take an opportunistic moment to take advantage of Scizor's primary job: hitting things. There are two primary ways to use this set. #1, on a time when you expect Scizor to click anything and not double switch, simply switch in Alomomola and immediately eject into a Magneton. #2, in a lead situation or in an uncommon situation where Scizor finds itself switching into Alomomola, Scizors will opt to U-turn on Alomomola because Alo is the type of mon where you often want to chip it to take it out. As such it's not uncommon for Scizor to be brought out instantly just so it can immediately U-Turn into strong Special Attackers such as Hydreigon or stuff like Breloom. In these instances, the same result applies and Scizor is destroyed. The Defense helps you take some strong Physical hits better, particularly without the passive recovery of Leftovers.

Tentacruel and Empoleon also take advantage of Eject Button p well, although both really dislike losing the passive recovery.

Not really a common set but that set can be a really good lure to Scizor especially Choice Band. He can Outspeed Adamant Band Scizor 252speed with his 220evs on speed,You can also run 56evs on Speed to Outspeed the set presented above.

the rest of the Evs go into hps (192) which allow in particular to "tank" 2/3 U-turns of Scizor Band if the game does not troll you.

This is a set I've seen used on some teams, including some myself, that acts as a pretty cool Scizor lure. Not much to really say about this one. You guarntee live a Bullet Punch from CB Scizor and kill it with Flamethrower. You even gain other uses from it allowing you to Take Cobalion's Iron Head and Mega Aggron's Heavy Slam and dent them really hard. You have to take rocks into consideration however, so I would pair this with a decent hazard remover.

252+ Atk Choice Band Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 252 HP / 72 Def Babiri Berry Togekiss: 157-186 (41.9 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Togekiss Flamethrower vs. 164 HP / 0 SpD Scizor: 364-432 (113 - 134.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

HP Fire Focus Sash Nihilego

Nihilego @ Focus Sash
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Power Gem
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt

What I really like of this Nihilego is the possibility to take out one or even two pokemons if the Focus Sash is intact, so hazards control is mandatory.
Kept this in mind, HP Fire is nice even unboosted because it accomplish a clean KO on Scizor, which otherwise would be a clean counter between resistances, immunities and Bullet Puch.
HP Fire is generally underwhelming when compared with Grass Knot (which has a higher base power), but if your team is weak to Scizor (looking at the team preview) be sure that you will lure it.

WaveGem are the dual STAB combination and Thunderbolt is picked over Grass Knot in order to have the maximum coverage possible with these slots.

252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Scizor: 312-368 (111 - 130.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Cobalion: 170-200 (52.6 - 61.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Fire vs. 240 HP / 16 SpD Eviolite Doublade: 146-174 (45.7 - 54.5%) -- 96.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 200 SpD Steelix-Mega: 112-132 (31.6 - 37.2%) -- 97.9% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Metagross: 142-168 (47.1 - 55.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

These are the few cases in which HP Fire is useful in the UU environment: not too many, but the surprise factor is guaranteed.

So this is pretty much self explanatory you try to catch scizor on the switch. We all know at one point we've switched our scizor into sylveon either to threaten it out with a nice strong bulletpunch or as your only fairy resist. I truly dont like the babiri berry but it is an option. Sylveon just isnt that good in my opinion without its leftovers since its pretty helpful getting recovery with wish + protect but if your team is REALLY weak to scizor I guess it could work although I would not suggest it. Protect is actually also really helpful vs scizor because we all know Sylveon is usually paired with a M-aggron so they might try to predict you and superpower which protect will help you see if they are trying to just go for the hard bp or trying to get momentum/predict. If scizor is a really big threat to your team you live 1 banded bulletpunch and could hurt it back big time which I think is a really good and succesful lure since who actually expects it to have hp fire (its usually heal bell)

We saw this lure do amazing work In Sage' s battle vs SilvioGuacamole . It was Sage's sylveon vs Silvio's scizor silvio decided to click bp which sylveon lived and ohkod back with hpfire which I think helped massively with Sage winning that match. (for ULT which Sage ended up winning)

Standard Blissey, but with Flamethrower as the attacking move. I got this set/spread in particular from one of faded love’s teams, but I’m sure a fair amount are aware of offensive seis. They do a nice job of luring and outspending/killing Breloom and Scizor alike. CB Scizor usually likes to stay in and kill or u turn out predicting a switch.

Florges @ Babiri Berry
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Synthesis
- Calm Mind / Defog / Heal Bell
- Moonblast
- Hidden Power [Fire]

252+ Atk Choice Band Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 80 HP / 0 Def Babiri Berry Florges: 222-262 (70 - 82.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Florges Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Scizor: 312-368 (111 - 130.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

With 176 EV in speed, Florges outspeed both Adamant 252 Speed Scizor & Jolly 252 Speed Crawdaunt.
Another spread allows Florges to outspeed Support Altaria-Mega and 92 Speed Scizor + always take Corkscrew Crash from Cobalion :
192 HP / 252 SpA / 64 Speed

252 Atk Cobalion Corkscrew Crash (160 BP) vs. 192 HP / 0 Def Babiri Berry Florges: 280-330 (81.1 - 95.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Strength Sap
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Everyone's favorite budget Amoongus. Vileplume is one of the many bulky grass Pokemon that is trying to fill the void of Amoongus and it does have a place here. While it does face quite a bit of 4MSS with the amount of coverage options it receives I feel like this set hits the most. If it predicts Scizor, it can HP Fire:

4 SpA Vileplume Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Scizor: 224-268 (79.7 - 95.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

While it doesn't pick up the KO it still severely cripples Scizor and it's just really weakened at that point. There's also the fact that you can Strength Sap if the Scizor comes in which lowers their Attack by 1 stage.

-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 252 HP / 248+ Def Vileplume: 87-103 (24.5 - 29%) -- possible 5HKO after Black Sludge recovery

This damage is just laughable and will keep Scizor at bay if this situation happens. You can pretty much screw around with Scizor while its on the field and can just scare it out. Effect Spore is also a very trolly ability since Scizor will keep making contact with you so you can end up crippling Scizor with a paralysis or sleep. While Vileplume can't OHKO Scizor with HP Fire, it still has a lot of things in its arsenal that lets it stop Scizor.

An effective lure needs to be both a) strong enough to KO or cripple Scizor and b) unexpected. The HP Fire Fairies do their job in killing it but once Leftovers is not revealed any Scizor user will probably scout for the lure. Eject Button is a well-known strategy by now and whenever I see Magneton + bulky Water I immediately assume that. Thus, I propose:

Krookodile @ Firium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Fire Fang

Fire Fang is used sometimes on Scarf Krook, but when you reveal SR the opposing player will likely assume Rocky Helmet or Blackglasses. This works especially well with pretty much any common Z-user (i.e Latias) since they will assume that the other Pokemon has a Z-move. Firium Z also has an added bonus of knocking out Breloom, Magnet Rise Klefki, Mowtom, and Tsareena so it isn't a total dead moveslot otherwise.

Thanks to everyone that submitted this round! There were a lot of great and interesting sub, issions. One thing I'd like to say is regarding the commonness of the set; Togekiss, Sylveon, and Florges can all viably run HP Fire, and it's mentioned on their Smogon sets; I'd advise checking the recommended sets before submitting to avoid this. In addition, some suggested options can invalidate part of the Pokemon's role just for a lure set, which isn't great in such a varied meta. From next week on, I'll be a bit harsher with rejecting lures, so bear that in mind. I'd also appreciate some suggestions for future Pokemon for the project (preferably high in the VR), so feel free to mentuion any ideas in your vote post or PM me.

HP Fire Scizor was lacking a description for the set, and has been rejected as a result. Adding a short description helps people understand the set more and your thought processes.

Vileplume was rejected because the standard Vileplume runs HP Fire; as a result, Scizor would not be lured in. It also dislikes Stength Sap and Effect Spore, so it isn't something that comes in on Vileplume at all.

Please vote for one of the lures listed above. You cannot vote for a rejected lure. You have until Monday night to vote.

I apologize for my Vileplume post. I should've checked its move usage. I tend to make some idiotic mistakes.
Anyway, I'm placing my vote in for Adaam's Firium Krookodile.
