[OVERVIEW]
Thanks to its good typing, solid defenses, and great supportive tools, Vaporeon cements itself as one of the best defensive Pokemon in NU. Vaporeon's solid overall bulk allows it to check strong Pokemon such as Salazzle, Talonflame, Blastoise, and Golisopod. Moreover, Vaporeon has great utility options in Wish, Heal Bell, and Toxic to support its partners, and it is able to scout attacks with Protect. Unfortunately, Vaporeon faces lots of competition from Sylveon; despite Vaporeon's ability to pivot with Flip Turn, Sylveon is an overall superior defensive Pokemon that can also pass Wishes and defensively answer offensive Water-types like Starmie and Inteleon. Also, Vaporeon's passivity leaves it easily exploited by threats like Rotom-C, Vileplume, and Decidueye. Furthermore, even with a lot of investment in its bulk, Vaporeon's Defense is still lacking, which leaves it vulnerable to strong physical wallbreakers.

Flip Turn creates momentum for Vaporeon's teammates, helps Vaporeon pass Wishes more safely, and prevents foes such as Vileplume, Rotom-C, and Dragalge from taking advantage of it. Alternatively, Heal Bell is a great tool to keep Vaporeon and its partners healthy and helps it cure status effects, which otherwise hinder its role as a defensive Pokemon, whereasToxic can be used to wear down Mantine and Gastrodon, two Pokemon Vaporeon otherwise is helpless against. Heavy-Duty Boots grants Vaporeon better durability and helps it to pivot more consistently. Alternatively, Leftovers grants Vaporeon more longevity and synergizes well with Protect.

Vaporeon has great typing and bulk, and it fits well on bulkier builds such as bulky offense and balance due to its passivity. Wish and Flip Turn are excellent tools to safely bring in its partners and keep them healthy; these partners include wallbreakers like Assault Vest Copperajah, Dragalge, and Escavalier. Vaporeon dislikes strong Electric- and Grass-types such as Heliolisk, Rotom-C, Decidueye, and Dhelmise, so partners like Vileplume, Dragalge, and Goodra check them for Vaporeon; in return, Vaporeon can safely bring in these checks with Flip Turn. Ground-types such as Flygon and Mudsdale are good partners, as they check Electric-types like Heliolisk. Vaporeon is reliant on its item, so Knock Off absorbers such as itemless Vileplume make for great partners. In return, Vaporeon helps Vileplume against Pokemon like Salazzle, Talonflame, and boosted Blastoise.

Haze is a great alternative over Flip Turn, as it allows Vaporeon to stop setup sweepers like Shell Smash Blastoise, but using this comes at the cost of Flip Turn's ability to grab momentum. Ice Beam can be used to hit incoming Grass- and Dragon-types like Rotom-C, Vileplume, and Flygon harder. A more specially defensive EV spread lets Vaporeon better fend off Pokemon such as Starmie and Blastoise.

Checks and Counters
====

**Grass-types**: Both Decidueye and Dhelmise threaten Vaporeon with their STAB options, but they have to be careful about switching into Vaporeon and getting burned by Scald. Vileplume is also annoying, as it can hit Vaporeon super effectively with Giga Drain and regain health while having the ability to poison it with Sludge Bomb.

**Electric-types**: Heliolisk is very annoying, as it is immune to Vaporeon's Water-type STAB moves; all Vaporeon can do is hit it with Toxic on the switch. Rotom-C is especially dangerous, as it has two STAB moves that are super effective against Vaporeon.

**Dragon-types**: Dragalge is very potent against Vaporeon, as it doesn't fear being whittled down by Toxic and can fish for poisons with Sludge Bomb. Goodra hits Vaporeon with strong super effective coverage, and Guzzlord weakens Vaporeon severely with Knock Off and Toxic, but it dislikes getting burned by Scald.

Scald is Vaporeons best move with a 30% chance to burn the opposing Pokemon, which is helpful to cripple incoming Pokemon such as Dragalge, Goodra, and Decidueye. Wish helps Vaporeon to stay healthy while checking common Pokemon in the metagame and gives it more longevity throughout the game. Protect lets Vaporeon scout moves from Copperajah, Mienshao, and Rotom-C.(fluff) Flip Turn helps in bringing in a partner safely and creates momentum for Vaporeons teammates.(We can be more specific here; Flip Turn helps Vaporeon pass Wishes more safely and prevents foes like x, y, and z from taking advantage of it as easily.) Heal Bell is a great tool to keep itself and its partners healthy and helps Vaporeon to remain unstatused, which otherwise hinders its role as a defensive Pokemon. Toxic can be used to hit Mantine and Gastrodon, two Pokemon which Vaporeon at best stalemates with otherwise. Heavy-Duty Boots grants Vaporeon better durability and helps it to remain healthy in case it doesn't run Heal Bell pivot more consistently.(Toxic Spikes isn't very common anymore, so the Heal Bell point doesn't work too well.) Leftovers grants Vaporeon more longevity in checking strong Pokemon better and synergizes well with Protect. Water Absorb is its only viable ability and enables it to soak up Water-type attacks to regain HP. The nature and EVs maximizes Vaporeons physical bulk to check Flygon, Talonflame, and Golisopod.(fluff)

Vaporeon has a great typing and bulk, but its limited to balanced teams(not rly, it can fit on bulky offense and generally fatter teams too just fine.) due to its passivity. Wish in combination with Flip Turn are excellent tools to bring in its partners safely and to keep them healthy; these partners include wallbreakers like Goodra, Dragalge, and Escavalier.(probably should replace Goodra's mention with something like AV Copper) Vaporeon dislikes strong Grass- and Electric-types such as Rotom-C, Heliolisk, Decidueye and Dhelmise so partners like Vileplume, Dragalge, and Goodra checks them for Vaporeon, whereas Vaporeon can help bringing these checks in safely with Flip Turn. Vaporeon is reliant on its items in Heavy-Duty Boots or Leftovers so Knock Off absorbers such as itemless Vileplume makes up for a great partner. Vaporeon helps Vileplume against Pokemon like Salazzle, Talonflame, and boosted Blastoise. Stealth Rock support from Pokemon like Bronzong, Copperajah, or Diancie is appreciated. Vaporeon can help the former two with Fire-types like Salazzle and Talonflame, and the latter with Pokemon such as Gastrodon and Mudsdale.(vaporeon does not care at all about stealth rock support) Starmie is an exceptional annoying presence for Vaporeon as it doesn't take much from its Water STAB and also heals off any status with its ability, so Vaporeon appreciates partners like Decidueye and Drapion.(not really any more annoying than the other offensive waters) Heliolisk is very threatening so partners like Copperajah can help.

Haze is a great alternative, as it allows Vaporeon to stop Pokemon from setting up such as Cresselia with Calm Mind, Flygon with Dragon Dance, and Blastoise with Shell Smash, but using this comes at the cost of Flip Turn's ability to grab momentum.(Flygon shouldn't be trying to set up against Vaporeon) Ice Beam can be used to hit incoming Grass- and Dragon-types harder like Rotom-C, Vileplume, and Flygon. (Give a mention here to more specially defensive EV spreads; they're helpful against foes like Starmie and Blastoise.)

Checks and Counters

**Grass-types**: Both Decidueye and Dhelmise are threatening Vaporeon with their STAB options, but they have to be careful about switching into Vaporeons Scald because of the chance of getting burned.(Vileplume deserves a sentence down here too)

**Electric-types**: Heliolisk is very annoying as it soaks up Vaporeons Water-type STABs, all Vaporeon can do is dishing out a Toxic on the switch. Rotom-C is especially dangerous as it has 2 STABs which are super effective against Vaporeon.

**Taunt**: Taunt shuts down Vaporeon completely and leaves it susceptile to status and makes Vaporeon more easy to getting worn down in throughout the rest of the game.(please name me the Taunt user that doesn't get messed over by Scald)

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Starmie, Tyrantrum, and Goodra can all threaten Vaporeon with their great coverage choices and STAB in Thunderbolt, Head Smash, and Draco Meteor.(Vaporeon is a fine Starmie check all things considered, and Tyrantrum/Goodra just get scouted by Protect)

**Dragon-types**: (Dragalge for obvious reasons should be the first mention here, Goodra generally good answer that can threaten with strong coverage, Guzzlord dislikes Scald burns but can has Knock Off and Toxic to mess over Vaporeon)

Flip Turn creates momentum for Vaporeon's teammates, helps Vaporeon pass Wishes more safely, and prevents foes such as Vileplume, Rotom-C, and Dragalge from taking advantange of it. Toxic can be used to hit wear down Mantine and Gastrodon, two Pokemon which Vaporeon at best stalemates with otherwise reaches a stalemate with. Thanks to its good typing, solid defenses, and great supportive tools to support teams, Vaporeon cemented cements itself as one of the best defensive Pokemon in NU. Vaporeon's solid overall bulk allows it to check strong Pokemon such as Salazzle, Talonflame, Blastoise, and Golisopod. Moreover,(AC) Vaporeon has great utility options in Wish, Heal Bell, and Toxic to support its partners with Wish-passing, Heal Bell-cleric, and Toxic,(period to comma) Additionally, Vaporeon and it is able to scout attacks with Protect. Vaporeon faces alot a lot of competition from Sylveon,(RC) which that is better at checking Fighting-types such as Mienshao and Sirfetch'd, but Vaporeon has a niche over Sylveon in checking Salazzle and Water-types like Starmie and Blastoise. Also,(AC) Vaporeon's passivity leaves it vulnerable to threats including Rotom-C, Vileplume, and Decidueye. Even with a lot of investment in its bulk, Vaporeon's physical defense is still lacking, which leaves it prone to strong physical wallbreakers. (some examples here might be nice)

(Made your points into a list to help them be more concise)Heal Bell is a great tool to keep itself Vaporeon and its partners healthy and helps Vaporeon it to remain unstatused, which otherwise hinders its role as a defensive Pokemon. Toxic can be used to hit wear down Mantine and Gastrodon, two Pokemon which Vaporeon at best stalemates with otherwise reaches a stalemate with. (something like "cannot effectively break through" also works) Heavy-Duty Boots grants Vaporeon better durability and helps it to pivot more consistently. Leftovers grants Vaporeon more longevity and synergyzes synergizes well with Protect.

Haze is a great alternative over Flip Turn(specify what it is an alternative over), as it allows Vaporeon to stop Pokemon from setting up such as Cresselia with Calm Mind, and Blastoise with Shell Smash setup sweepers like Calm Mind Cresselia and Shell Smash Blastoise, but using this comes at the cost of Flip Turn's ability to grab momentum. Ice Beam can be used to hit incoming Grass- and Dragon-types harder like Rotom-C, Vileplume, and Flygon harder. A more specially defensive EV spread works as well, as it is able to lets Vaporeon better fend off Pokemon such as Starmie and Blastoise.

**Grass-types**: Both Decidueye and Dhelmise threaten Vaporeon with their STAB options, but they have to be careful about switching into Vaporeons Scald because of the chance of getting burned Vaporeon and getting burned by Scald.
