[OVERVIEW]

Vaporeon is insurance against one of the best Pokemon in the tier, Mega Blastoise, and access to Wish and Heal Bell makes it a decent pick for balance teams. Vaporeon's fantastic bulk lets it blanket check other special attackers like Salazzle, Ninetales, and Swellow. Wish + Protect is fantastic for supporting teammates, and Vaporeon's extremely high HP stat accentuates its prominence as a Wish user. However, Vaporeon is often outclassed as a bulky Water-type and Mega Blastoise switch-in by Mantine, which can blanket check a plethora of special attackers, provide Defog support, and match up well against most Grass-types, arguably one of the most threatening types in RarelyUsed. Vaporeon's passive nature will give free turns to the opponent frequently, something that can leave you in an awful spot in such a fast-paced metagame. For example, Vaporeon's over-reliance on Protect to effectively use Wish allows the opponent to easily double switch to wallbreakers and setup sweepers. Vaporeon lacking Ice Beam can't keep up with aggressive hazard stack teams carrying Roserade. Vaporeon's poor offensive presence gives plenty of setup opportunities to opposing Pokemon like Mega Abomasnow and Snorlax.

Moves

Scald is Vaporeon's main attack and has a good chance to burn. Wish lets Vaporeon have some recovery and heal teammates. Protect improves Wish's reliability and lets Vaporeon scout against Choice item users like Tyrantrum. Heal Bell lets Vaporeon act as a cleric, healing any status that has been inflicted on the team. Although Vaporeon is typically helpless against Pokemon like Toxicroak, Roserade, and Virizion, Ice Beam can help with this, damaging them all decently on the switch.

Set Details
========

252 HP and 252 Special Defense EVs and a Calm nature make Vaporeon as specially bulky as possible, letting it avoid the 2HKO from Pokemon like Choice Specs Yanmega and Choice Specs Swellow after Stealth Rock and giving it as much insurance as possible against the biggest threat in the tier, Mega Blastoise. Leftovers gives it passive recovery. Water Absorb lets it heal when hit by Water-type attacks from Pokemon like Mantine and Mega Blastoise.

Usage Tips
========

Support teammates, especially those lacking recovery, with Wish. Position Vaporeon against slow, passive Pokemon so as to seamlessly pass Wishes. Fish for burns with Scald as physical attackers like Virizion switch into you, as once they're burned they'll have next to no use. Use Protect to effectively heal Vaporeon with Wish, scout against potential Choice-locked attackers, hamper the power of Z-Moves, and take full advantage of Leftovers. Hit Grass-types such as Roserade and Shaymin on the switch with Ice Beam, and take advantage of them being forced to use Synthesis to get a free switch to a teammate. Try to avoid Knock Off, as once Vaporeon loses Leftovers, it'll be chipped very easily from weak attacks and Stealth Rock. Consequently, you'll have to focus more on healing Vaporeon with Wish as opposed to passing Wish.

Team Options
========

Sturdy Steel-types like Stealth Rock Stakataka greatly appreciate Vaporeon's Wish support. If you opt for Ice Beam over Heal Bell, make sure to pair Vaporeon with teammates such as Guts Machamp that don't struggle with status users such as Registeel. Venusaur in particular is a fantastic partner, being able to take on Grass-types and Electric-types that Vaporeon can't deal with as well as cripple Steel-types such as Registeel and Bronzong with Knock Off. Fire-types like Ninetales and Arcanine appreciate Wish support to help with their Stealth Rock weakness, and they bust through Steel-types and Roserade in return. Vaporeon can take on Rock- and Ground-types for them as well.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Toxic lets Vaporeon cripple checks like Virizion, Mega Ampharos, and Mega Abomasnow on the switch. Roar helps Vaporeon's matchup against setup sweepers, removing them from the field and potentially racking up entry hazard damage.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-types**: Virizion and Roserade can take advantage of Vaporeon's presence to set up on it or set Spikes, respectively. Shaymin also beats Vaporeon one-on-one easily with its strong, super effective STAB attack.

**Physical Wallbreakers**: Strong attackers like Choice Band Tyrantrum and Bewear OHKO Vaporeon.

**Setup Sweepers**: Vaporeon's passive nature leaves it helpless against setup sweepers like Toxicroak.

**Taunt**: Taunt Pokemon like Noivern and Mandibuzz effectively stop Vaporeon, preventing it from healing or providing Wish and cleric support.

**Electric-types**: Electric-types like Mega Ampharos and Raikou are able to 2HKO Vaporeon with their super effective STAB attacks.

slash ice beam first over heal bell, and mention somewhere in usage tips that free switches should be taken advantage of if you ice beam something like rose or shay on a switch, forcing it to recover

staka and meta can replace lix and doublade for steels

add raikou to electric-types in checks and counters

[OVERVIEW]

Vaporeon's insurance against one of the best Pokemon in the tier, Mega Blastoise, and a great support Pokemon with access to Wish and Heal Bell makes make it a decent pick for balance teams. Fantastic Vaporeon's fantastic bulk lets Vaporeon it blanket check other special attackers like Salazzle, Ninetales, and Swellow. Wish + Protect is fantastic for supporting teammates, and Vaporeon's extremely high HP stat accentuates it's its prominence as a Wish user. Protect has only improved as utility move, great to scout for Choice-locked Pokemon and hinder the power of Z-Moves. (this isn't an overview thing) However, Vaporeon is often outclassed as a bulky Water-type and Mega Blastoise switch-in by other Pokemon like Mantine that, (AC) which (Mantine is the only pokemon in existence that has all of these factors, don't imply there are more) can blanket check a plethora of special attackers, provide Defog support, and have a great match up well against most Grass-types, arguably one of the most threatening types in RarelyUsed. Vaporeon's passive nature will give free turns to the opponent frequently, something that can leave you in an awful spot in such a fast-paced metagame. For example, Vaporeon's over-reliance on Protect to effectively use Wish allows the opponent to make easy doubles easily double switch to wallbreakers and set up setup sweepers. Vaporeon lacking Ice Beam can't keep up with vicious, (don't antagonize playstyles) aggressive hazard stack teams carrying Roserade. Vaporeon's poor offensive presence gives plenty of setup opportunities to opposing set up Pokemon like Mega Abomasnow, Meloetta, and Snorlax.

Scald is Vaporeon's main attack that and (that implies vaporeon has other main attacks that don't have a good chance to burn) has a good chance to burn. Wish lets Vaporeon have some recovery and heal teammates. Protect improves Wish's reliability and lets it Vaporeon scout against Choiced attackers Choice item users like Tyrantrum. Heal Bell lets Vaporeon act as a cleric as well, (you're not adding to anything) healing any status that has been inflicted on the team. Although Vaporeon's typically helpless against Pokemon like Toxicroak, Roserade, and Virizion, Ice Beam can help with this, damaging them all decently on the switch in.

252 HP and 252 SpD Special Defense EVs when used with and (when used with implies it is not always used with a calm nature) a Calm nature lets let (EVs is plural) Vaporeon be as specially bulky as possible, avoiding letting it avoid the 2HKO from Pokemon like Choice Specs Yanmega and Choice Specs Swellow after Stealth Rock, (RC) while and giving it as much insurance as possible against the biggest threat in the tier, Mega Blastoise. Leftovers gives it passive recovery. Water Absorb lets it heal off any water when hit by Water-type attacks from Pokemon like Mantine and Mega Blastoise.

Usage Tips
========

Support teammates, especially those lacking recovery, with Wish. Position yourself Vaporeon (the reader is not a vaporeon) against slow, passive Pokemon so as to seamlessly pass Wishes. Fish for burns with Scald as physical attackers like Virizion switch into you, as once they're burned they'll have next to no use. Use Protect to effectively use heal Vaporeon with Wish, scout against potential Choice-locked attackers, hamper the power of Z-Moves, and to (parallelism; this'd read like "Use Protect to to take full advantage of Leftovers") take full advantage of Leftovers. Hit Grass-types such as Roserade and Shaymin on switch-in the switch (switch-in: noun, meaning "Pokemon that switches into another") with Ice Beam and take advantage of the free turn you get on the subsequent turn, as they'll be forced to recover with Synthesis, (AC) and take advantage of them being forced to use Synthesis to get a free switch to a teammate. Try to avoid Knock Off, as once you lose Vaporeon loses Leftovers, you'll it'll be chipped very easily from weak attacks and Stealth Rock. Consequently, you'll have to focus more on healing yourself Vaporeon with Wish as opposed to passing Wish.

Team Options
========

Sturdy Steel-types like Stealth Rock Stakataka greatly appreciate Vaporeon's Wish support. Stakataka provides Stealth Rock support for Vaporeon as well. (obvious; remove the Stealth Rock mention before Stak in the previous sentence and keep this instead if you want, just do smth about one of them) If you opt for Ice Beam over Heal Bell, make sure to pair Vaporeon with teammates such as Flame Orb / Assault Vest (unnecessary specification) Guts Machamp that don't struggle with status users such as Registeel. Venusaur in particular is a fantastic partner, being able to take on Grass-types and Electric-types that Vaporeon can't deal with as well as crippling cripple (it's able to cripple them but doesn't just automatically cripple steels) Steel-types such as Registeel and Bronzong with Knock Off. Fire-types like Ninetales and Arcanine appreciate Wish support to help with their Stealth Rock weakness, and they (comma before and > following clause must be independent) bust through Steel-types and Roserade in return. Vaporeon can take on Rock- and Ground-types for them as well.
