I would have voted for Can't says Volcarona but chances are if they are bringing Pheromosa they are bringing rocks for chip damage so Phero can OHKO mons.
just wanted to point out that the Scizor set also drops to Stealth Rock. I think like me, jmal chose to omit mentioning that on purpose :bloblul:

i did include mago as the item to improve the switching into rocks scenario but left it out because it would draw attention to said rocks lol

Congratulations Leader Wallace! Your submission will be logged in the Archive!
Victim of the Week 50 - Xurkitree

Up next we have the Glowing Pokemon, Xurkitree! The electric-type UB may be a bit straightforward, but it's still a force to be reckoned with, thanks to its stellar base 173 Special Attack, which can be further boosted by Beast Boost and Tail Glow. Its 83 speed doesn't help it much, but it has the option tu run Choice Scarf or Z-Hypnosis to patch it. So, how do you deal with this mon?

Submissions will be closed in 4 days from now. Good Luck!

Oh God why do I feel like posting horrible memes...

Epic electivire sweep.png

Electivire @ Electrium Z / Assault Vest / Icium Z
Ability: Vital Spirit
Level: 50
EVs: 164 HP / 252 Atk / 92 SpDef
Adamant Nature
- Wild Charge
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch

The mon that was notorious in gen 4 for getting OU simply because bad players kept spamming it on the ladder is back, and still Bad. Seriously please do not use this mon. Having 164 HP EVs and 92 SpDef Evs allows you to avoid the 2HKO from Modest Energy Ball (yes, your defenses are THAT bad). Jesus Christ this mon is bad. After you switch in you just EQ for the KO. Alternatively you can run Assault Vest instead of Electrium Z, and change the EVs to 148 HP/252 Atk/108 SpDef to avoid the 3HKO from Energy Ball (don't bother going max speed because you will never outspeed Timid Xurk with an Adamant Electivire because max speed Timid Xurk has exactly one more speed point than max speed Adamant Electivire), but then you are running Assault Vest Electivire lmao. Well, I guess if you truly want to counter Xurkitree you might as well. Anyway, run Vital Spirit for the epic meme that counters Hypnosis Xurkitree and because who in their right mind would Thunderbolt an Electivire anyway???

Calcs:
252+ SpA Xurkitree Energy Ball vs. 164 HP / 92 SpD Electivire: 72-85 (42.1 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Electivire Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Xurkitree: 158-186 (100 - 117.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Xurkitree Energy Ball vs. 148 HP / 108 SpD Assault Vest Electivire: 47-56 (27.8 - 33.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Anyway if you run this mon, congrats you have killed Xurkitree but you also have at most 5 viable pokemon on your team so it is now time to deeply ponder the question: Was it worth it?

There aren't much way to deal with a monstrosity of 173 SpA that has access to Tail Glow and Hypnosis. That said, I am nomming something that can live any hit from +3 Xurkitree after Stealth Rock damage and OHKO back while can be stapled into teams quite easily. EV spread lives +3 HP Ice after rocks and avoids 2HKO from any move from Choice Specs lele, if you ask me. Wood Hammer OHKOs Xurkitree.

Excadrill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Tomb
- Horn Drill

This one is pretty straightforward but that also makes it easy to incorporate into existing teams. It can live any boosted hit and OHKO back with Earthquake. Rock Tomb provides speed control on a Xurk that has already used Z-Hypnosis.

+3 252 SpA Xurkitree Energy Ball vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Excadrill: 147-174 (79.4 - 94%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+3 252 SpA Xurkitree Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Excadrill: 99-117 (53.5 - 63.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+3 252 SpA Xurkitree Dazzling Gleam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Excadrill: 65-77 (35.1 - 41.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

I was gonna nom av bulu as well, just wanted to add my ev spread in case anyone wants to use this set.

236 HP / 116 SpD / 156 Spe
Adamant Nature

this just lets you outspeed thundurus-t / nihilego after a rock tomb, also helps in a 1v1 against mimikyu, rock tomb into wood hammer kills even bulky mimikyu iirc.

+3 252 SpA Xurkitree Thunderbolt vs. 236 HP / 116 SpD Assault Vest Tapu Bulu: 73-87 (41.7 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

plus 3 t-bolt still does nothing and with the speed investment you can also switch in on thundurus and beat it 1v1.

Pheromosa @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- U-turn
- High Jump Kick
- Drill Run
- Ice Beam

Who needs to defensively check anything anyways? Especially when you try and find a switch-in to one of the most powerful Special Attackers in the game.
Phero can come in on a unboosted HP Ice or as the Xurkitree sets up and can outspeed Xurkitree at +1 and OHKO with Fightnium, or if SR is already up you can take the 90% chance to kill.

With Rocks:
252 Atk Pheromosa High Jump Kick vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Xurkitree: 153-180 (96.8 - 113.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
Z-Move:
252 Atk Pheromosa All-Out Pummeling (195 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Xurkitree: 229-270 (144.9 - 170.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

How can Phero live any hit from this?
252 SpA Xurkitree Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Pheromosa: 100-118 (68.4 - 80.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature

Landorus-T can take a hit from Xurkitree and OHKO it with Earthquake.

252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Xurkitree: 270-318 (170.8 - 201.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Xurkitree Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Landorus-T: 152-180 (77.5 - 91.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

It took every damn ounce of my power to avoid nominating av regice. i cannot exaggerate this, i spent two sleepless nights deliberating whether to nom av regice

Tyranitar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 12 Atk / 244 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Rock Tomb
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

A Big Boy. Absolute unit. If you have made a team and the only things you need to destroy are mgengar, naganadel, nihilego, and as it turns out, xurkitree, this fat man will eat delicious energy balls, even from a high-rolling xurkitree whose tail is very shiny indeed...

+6 252 SpA Xurkitree Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 244+ SpD Assault Vest Tyranitar in Sand: 164-194 (79.2 - 93.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

It really wants 5 moveslots to use pursuit, and frankly of the four moves I put in, eq seems like a semi-viable option to do so with, but perhaps you don't want your counterplay to a +6 casinoxurk being taking it out when it's at +0 speed from a 95% rock tomb... you're kind of stuck with it. think of it as the ultimate heatran scarer.

12 Atk Tyranitar Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Xurkitree: 130-154 (81.7 - 96.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after sandstorm damage
i.e. kills after 3 sandstorm hits, which is the amount of turns it needs to get to +6 with you asleep in the first place...

12 Atk Tyranitar Rock Tomb vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Xurkitree: 58-70 (36.4 - 44%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after sandstorm damage
not even close sadly...

Casinoxurk is the one that's actually difficult to check, but any move that isn't at a significant boost will bounce off this boy.

252 SpA Xurkitree Energy Ball vs. 252 HP / 244+ SpD Assault Vest Tyranitar in Sand: 42-50 (20.2 - 24.1%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
252 SpA Xurkitree Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 244+ SpD Assault Vest Tyranitar in Sand: 38-46 (18.3 - 22.2%) -- possible 5HKO

All right, submissions are now closed! There are to be no edits of your own Pokemon, nor are there to be any new submissions. A few quick things to note;
  • Voting will close on the 2/25 at 10:00pm GMT-2 (9:00pm EST), where the next Victim Of The Week will also be announced
  • You can't vote for your own submission
  • You can only change your vote once, so think carefully before doing so
  • You can vote even if you haven't made a submission. It is expected that you vote if you did submit yourself, but not compulsory

cant say's Mega Blaziken

It's sort of a tie between the mega chicken and average fella's TTar for me, but the chicken is much easier to use and can also use Earthquake to destroy the mons that the TTar deals with as well (as the chicken's last slot wasn't specified).
