Mega Heracross as a check
Heracross-Mega @ Heracronite
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pin Missile
- Close Combat
- Rock Blast
- Substitute / Swords Dance

Thanks to Mega Heracross' typing, it is able to always threaten out Reuniclus with its stab Pin Missile, which is also helped out by its ability, Skill Link. Cant switch in tho, as psyshock will almost knock you out, and will after rocks.

Calc
252 Atk Mega Heracross Pin Missile (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 200+ Def Reuniclus: 510-600 (120.2 - 141.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Mega Slowbro as a Counter to Focus Blast variants

Slowbro @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 80 Def / 176 SpD / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Scald

Mega Slowbro can easily come in on Reuniclus and start using CM alongside Reuniclus. Even at +6 Psyshock does very little damage and because of the sleep turns of Rest and because Reuniclus is unable to 3HKO Slowbro with Psyshock / Focus Blast, Slowbro can just rest up, sleep for 2 turns and Rest up again and PP stall Reuniclus without fearing a crit because of Shell Armor. 4 Speed is chosen because otherwise you might have to take 4 Psyshocks if you win the first speedtie and lose the last.

Calcs:
+6 0 SpA Reuniclus Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 80+ Def Mega Slowbro: 108-127 (27.4 - 32.3%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
+6 0 SpA Reuniclus Focus Blast vs. +5 248 HP / 176 SpD Mega Slowbro: 59-69 (15 - 17.5%) -- possible 6HKO

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Careful Nature
- Iron Head
- Defog
- Roost
- Whirlwind

The specially defensive set on Skarmory is generally used to check offensive fairy types like Mega Diancie and Mega Gardevoir, but it also serves as a solid check to CM Reuniclus.

0 SpA Reuniclus Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Skarmory: 95-112 (28.4 - 33.5%) -- 0.2% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
+1 0 SpA Reuniclus Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Skarmory: 141-167 (42.2 - 50%) -- 34.4% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Skarmory can switch in on a Calm Mind and easily take a +1 Focus Blast only to Whirlwind Reuniclus out. If it switches into an unboosted Focus Blast, it can easily take another (even a critical hit) and proceed to Whirlwind. Every move besides Focus Blast does less damage to Skarmory so I did not include those calculations. Skarmory is only a check, because it can't do much back to Reuniclus at all, and it can get worn down from multiple encounters and pressure from other pokemon.

Volcarona is a soft check to Reuniclus, it switches in but risks a 2HKO from Reuniclus' Psyshock, Volcarona 2HKO's Reuniclus with Bug Buzz even if it is boosted while a +1 Psyshock does not ohko.

Mandibuzz is a pretty good reuniclus counter thanks to its natural bulk, typing and movepool. Its typing makes it inmune to stab psyshock, and is not weak to reuniclus cover moves. With taunt and being faster you don't have to worry about CM or recover, roost provides reliable recovery and foul play and knock off are supereffective stabs that without investment can hit and also get rid of reuniclus item. And for the bulk nothing better that some calcs.

Reuniculus on Mandibuzz

Reserving SpD Talonflame as a check
Check

Talonflame @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Brave Bird
- Taunt
- Roost

Because of Talonflames speed, acess to taunt, roost and bulk-up, it can act as a fantastic check to Reuniclus. In the worst case scenario, Talonflame comes in as Reuniclus Calm Minds with rocks up, and is forced to go for bulk up, as psychock hits physical defence and bulk up boosts that stat, so the most Talon will ever be taking is a +0 Psyshock, as it can taunt to stop Reun boosting too much and can boost its defence to negate Reun's boosts. It is a check because it can be beaten if rocks are repetitively kept up and Reun spams Psychock, as it can be worn down very easily by this, so it is definitely best to keep rocks away while up against reuniclus.

Calcs
+3 0 Atk Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 234-276 (55.1 - 65%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Talon only needs to boost to +3, as it can then proceed to 2KHO Reun, as +6 BB fails to OHKO
4 SpA Reuniclus Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Talonflame: 139-165 (38.7 - 45.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
This is the most damage Reun will ever be doing, as talon can stop boosts with taunt or negate the psychock with bulk-up.
+1 4 SpA Reuniclus Shadow Ball vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Talonflame: 96-113 (26.7 - 31.4%) -- 21.9% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
Shadow Ball does even less, so no worrys about being overwhelmed at +1

Victini @ Choice Band
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 160 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- Brick Break

Victini is a solid check to non-Shadow Ball variants of Reuniclus, resisting both of its attacking moves and doing massive damage to Reuniclus. At +1, Reuniclus' moves will have a low chance to 2HKO or a high chance to 3HKO after a V-create. U-turn can finish Reuniclus off or used as prediction if you believe that Reuniclus will switch out (Although it probably won't if it has Shadow Ball and is healthy, so it's not exactly advised).

+1 0 SpA Reuniclus Psyshock vs. 96 HP / 0 Def Victini: 78-93 (21.3 - 25.4%) -- 0.2% chance to 4HKO

(Focus Blast has the same minimum roll, but a maximum roll of 25.2% due to how damage calculations work)

Always forgotten, but back to check Reuniclus. Thanks to Wobbuffet's base 33 speed (3 points more than Reuniclus), it outspeeds Reuniclus and can Encore after it switches in.

If you Encore a Calm Mind or Recover you can use this opportunity for setting up with another Pokemon.
If you Encore an attacking move, you can take it and then kill Reuniclus with Mirror Coats.

The only way Reuniclus wins the normal scenarios, is if it predicts the switch to Wobbuffet and Shadow Balls. You should then Mirror Coat immediately, because you get 4HKO'd otherwise. If he then at some point uses Recover, you can just Encore him into that. Because of this scenario Wobbuffet is just marked as a check though, because Reuniclus can significantly wear down Wobbuffet.

Crawdaunt as a tasty and buttery Check

Crawdaunt @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Crabhammer

Without Focus Blast, Reuniclus is outright countered by Crawdaunt as the latter outspeeds and OHKOes the former with a powerful Knock Off. The only thing keeping Crawdaunt from being a Reuniclus counter is that Focus Blast obliterates our favorite lobster. Therefore, if Reuniclus carries Focus Blast, it's best to bring it in via a slow VoltTurn/Baton Pass, double switch or after one of your mons has fainted to reliably deal with the green embryo blob.

Altaria @ Altarianite
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

- Roost / Fire Blast

Altaria is a natural counter; even without bulk, so long as it's M-Evolved it can switch in on any attack Sceptile can throw:
252 SpA Mega Sceptile Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Altaria: 110-130 (37.8 - 44.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 Atk Mega Sceptile Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Altaria: 73-86 (25 - 29.5%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

This makes it easy for it to switch in and set up at least one DD before wiping it out. If you have Roost, you can even set up multiple DDs while roosting off the damage.

Mega Venusaur resists Leaf Storm and doesn't take much damage from either HP [Fire] or Earthquake. Mega Sceptile's Dragon Pulse is the only move that does significant damage and it still fails to 2HKO after Stealth Rocks, while Mega Venusaur can use Synthesis to recover HP and Sludge Bomb is a OHKO in return. The reason it's a hard check and not a counter is if it's taken any prior damage or something like Sandstorm is up, Dragon Pulse can 2HKO after SR. It also doesn't really switch in before it has Mega Evolved.

With the rise of balance / stall thanks to the Demon Head (Mega Sableye), Stallbreaker Togekiss actually serves as a viable answer to any defensive oriented team thanks to Nasty Plot. For the purposes of the thread though, she (always see her as a girl named Cynthia ^_^) absolutely ruins Mega Sceptile. Especially the AoA version. EQ and Dragon Pulse can't touch her while HP Fire does negligible damage; leaving Leaf Storm as M-Sceptile's best option, which should be used judicially considering the recoil, and even then cannot OHKO Togekiss under the best of circumstances. All that and Togekiss can OHKO M-Sceptile with Air Slash BEFORE even boosting with NP. Thus, Togekiss is a threat that needs to be removed immediately for any M-Sceptile Based team.

252 SpA Mega Sceptile Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 236 SpD Assault Vest Conkeldurr: 160-190 (45.5 - 54.1%)

252 SpA Mega Sceptile Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 236 SpD Assault Vest Conkeldurr: 106-126 (30.1 - 35.8%)

252+ Atk Conkeldurr Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Sceptile: 480-568 (170.8 - 202.1%)

Check

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid / Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost / Dragon Pulse

Charizard resists Leaf Storm and HP Fire, and is immune to Earthquake, allowing it to switch in and 1HKO with Fire Blast and recover any HP it might have lost with Roost.

It's only a hard check because it can't switch into Dragon Pulse when rocks are up (or Dragon Pulse in general pre-mega)

Offensive:
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Mega Sceptile in Sun: 400-472 (142.3 - 167.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Solar Beam vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Mega Sceptile: 48-57 (17 - 20.2%) -- possible 5HKO
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Mega Sceptile: 194-229 (69 - 81.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Mega Sceptile: 274-324 (97.5 - 115.3%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Mega Sceptile: 302-356 (107.4 - 126.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Mega Sceptile Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard Y in Sun: 47-56 (15.8 - 18.8%) -- possible 6HKO
252 SpA Mega Sceptile Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard Y: 135-159 (45.4 - 53.5%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Mega Sceptile Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Charizard: 172-204 (57.9 - 68.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Reserving AV Tornadus whoops

Counter / (Hard Check?)

Muh Burb (Tornadus-Therian) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 132 HP / 160 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Focus Blast
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Assault Vest Tornadus-Therain freely switches into any move Mega Sceptile can throw at it. With access to Regenerator, Tornadus-T can safely U-turn or hard switch out and recover any damage Sceptile does. Leaf Storm does pitiful damage and leaves Mega Sceptile at -2, meaning Dragon Pulse would do next to nothing. Tornadus-T is not affected by Earthquake and takes next to no damage from Hidden Power Fire, since it's is not STAB or super effective. Mega Sceptile does have an extremely small chance to 2HKO with Dragon Pulse and Stealth Rock, but if that happens, Tornadus-T can easily switch out and recover off the damage.

252 SpA Mega Sceptile Leaf Storm vs. 132 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Tornadus-T: 84-99 (25.3 - 29.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

252 SpA Mega Sceptile Dragon Pulse vs. 132 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Tornadus-T: 109-130 (32.8 - 39.1%) -- 17.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Mega Sceptile Hidden Power Fire vs. 132 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Tornadus-T: 52-62 (15.6 - 18.6%) -- possible 6HKO

Lol
