[OVERVIEW]

With its unique resistances to Fighting, Grass, and Steel to deal with Pokemon such as Machamp, Virizion, and Metagross, Vikavolt appears as a promising bulky pivot in RU. Vikavolt is one of the slowest Volt Switch users in the tier, allowing it to safely bring in a teammate. It also has access to Levitate, which makes it immune to Spikes as well as Ground-type attacks barring Thousand Arrows, such as Flygon's Earthquake and Nidoqueen's Earth Power. Vikivolt can even keep itself healthy with Roost. Despite those great traits, Noivern, Forretress, and Tsareena give Vikavolt an immense amount of competition for the same role; Noivern is much faster and has better offensive presence, Forretress can also set up Spikes for its team and is much bulkier, and Tsareena resists Thousand Arrows and is immune to priority moves thanks to Queenly Majesty. Additionally, Vikavolt has a Stealth Rock weakness, which limits the amount of times it can pivot. It is also vulnerable to Toxic damage, which detriments its decent bulk and puts it on a timer, and threatened out by faster Rock- and Fire-type Pokemon like Tyrantrum, Salazzle, and Arcanine.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Volt Switch allows Vikavolt to pivot in and out of battle as well as bring in a teammate safely thanks to its low Speed. Bug Buzz allows Vikavolt to threaten out Grass-types like Shaymin, Virizion, and Tsareena, which resist Volt Switch. Roost heals Vikavolt from prior damage and grants it more time to pivot. Energy Ball hits Ground-type switch-ins such as Rhyperior, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon for super effective damage.

Set Details
========

60 EVs in Speed allow Vikavolt to outpace Registeel and uninvested Donphan. The rest of the EVs should be used to capitalize on Vikavolt's bulk. Rocky Helmet is the preferred item to punish physically offensive Pokemon like Machamp, Virizion, and Metagross for using contact moves, which Vikavolt can take easily.

Usage Tips
========

Vikavolt should use its resistances to Fighting, Grass, and Steel to safely come in against Pokemon like Machamp, Shaymin, and Metagross, which are usually threatened out thanks to its raw power putting a sizable dent into anything that doesn't resist its moves. It can also come in against Pokemon that are generally no threat to it such as Roserade, Passimian, and Virizion lacking Stone Edge. Because Vikavolt usually forces switches, it can be a good idea to use Roost to keep itself healthy. Volt Switch should be the move used the most so Vikavolt can pivot in and out of battle. Should a Ground-type switch-in like Rhyperior be anticipated, it is generally safe to use Energy Ball to heavily dent or OHKO it. While it is generally an offensive support Pokemon, Vikavolt can attempt to wallbreak early- to mid-game through punching holes in defensive Pokemon like Rhyperior, Metagross, and Slowbro for its teammates. Do not let Vikavolt get worn down too much; try to remove Stealth Rock so Vikavolt can pivot much more throughout the match, and avoid Toxic if you can, since being poisoned also chips away Vikavolt's decent bulk.

Team Options
========

Vikavolt can be used alongside other Volt Switch or U-turn users such as Raikou, Ribombee, and Mandibuzz. Teammates that can get rid of entry hazards such as Mega Blastoise, Florges, and Donphan are much appreciated by Vikavolt so it can pivot more often. Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Arcanine, Rhyperior, and Diancie also make good partners for Vikavolt. In return, Vikavolt can threaten out the Water- and Grass-types that plague them. Pokemon that can threaten Rock-types such as Zygarde-10%, Metagross, and Virizion are also good teammates for Vikavolt. Offensive Pokemon like Gardevoir, Shaymin, Swellow, and Goodra appreciate Vikavolt's ability to weaken Steel-types like Metagross so they can spam their powerful STAB moves more often. They also appreciate the slow Volt Switch Vikavolt provides so they can come into battle safely. Wallbreakers like Machamp, Tyrantrum, and Bewear also appreciate Vikavolt's slow Volt Switch. A cleric or Healing Wish user like Florges, Diancie, or Gardevoir can help heal Vikavolt in case it has been badly poisoned or worn down heavily by Stealth Rock and weak attacks. Diancie can also set Stealth Rock and appreciates Vikavolt's ability to switch into Steel-, Water-, and Ground-types.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Vikavolt has no other viable options.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Residual Damage**: Because of its Bug typing, Vikavolt loses a quarter of its health every time it switches into Stealth Rock. Vikavolt also needs to be wary of Toxic, as the status condition puts it on a timer and limits the amount of time it can pivot.

**Faster Threats**: Many Pokemon such as Tyrantrum, Goodra, and Lycanroc-D can threaten Vikavolt out of battle thanks to its low Speed. None of these Pokemon want to come directly into one of its moves, however.

**Fire-types**: Pokemon like Ninetales, Salazzle, and Arcanine can take out Vikavolt with their STAB moves and comfortably stomach Bug Buzz, but they would not want to switch into Volt Switch.

  • With its unique resistances to Fighting-, Grass-, and Steel-type Pokemon such as Machamp, Virizion, and Metagross, an immunity to Spikes thanks to Levitate, access to Roost, high Secial Attack, and a slow Volt Switch to bring in a teammate safely, Vikavolt appears promising as a bulky pivot in RarelyUsed.
  • you should probably expand on the positives of using vika on more detail. you have 1 positive bullet point vs 4 negatives. for example you could make volt switch its own bullet, add a bullet on levitate
  • Despite those great traits, Vikavolt has a Stealth Rock weakness which limits the amount of times it can pivot.
  • It is also vulnerable to Toxic damage, which detriments its decent bulk and puts it on a timer. merge this bullet with the above
  • Vikavolt is also threatened out by faster Rock- and Fire-type Pokemon like Tyrantrum, Salazzle, and Arcanine.
  • As a slow pivot, Mega Ampharos, Forretress, and Tsareena are usually better options: Mega Ampharos is much more powerful, and has a better defensive type, Forretress can also set up Spikes for its team and is much bulkier, and Tsareena resists Thousand Arrows and is immune to priority moves thanks to Queenly Majesty. move this so its the first negative bullet point but make sure to emphasize that vika still has important niches over these

=============
  • offensive goes here
  • bullet on hp ground
  • Choice Specs can be utilized to turn Vikavolt into a dangerous wallbreaker. However, Vikavolt's defensive capabilities are much more valued.
  • Agility can be used on a more offensive set to potentially turn Vikavolt into a fast sweeper, but it still fails to outpace common Choice Scarf Pokemon like Shaymin and Flygon at +2. mention that while it might seem appealing it actually really sucks cause its slow + not that strong

**Rock-types**: Rock-type Pokemon such as Rhyperior, Tyrantrum, and Lycanroc-D easily revenge kill Vikavolt with their STABs. They do not want to come in on Vikavolt's Energy Ball or risk being KO'd themselves. idt you actually need this bullet at all, the slower rocks like diancie rhyp gigalith fear energy ball/volt switch and the rest can fit into faster threats

**Fire-types**: Pokemon like Ninetales, Salazzle, and Arcanine can take out Vikavolt with their STABS and comfortably stomach Bug Buzz. These Pokemon also would not want to switch into Volt Switch. Alolan Marowak is notable since it resists Vikavolt's coverage moves, can be immune to Volt Switch thanks to Lightning Rod, and always OHKOs Vikavolt with Flare Blitz.

  • Vikavolt could also run an offensive variation of this set with a Modest Nature, Buginium Z, and a spread of 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe can outspeed Golisopod and Choice Band Rhyperior and threaten them out with it's powerful offenses. While this sounds appealing, Vikavolt's unique defensive traits are much more valued in RarelyUsed. this should still run 60 speed, the rest can go in hp
  • Thunderbolt is a much more powerful Electric-type STAB that can potentially OHKO Mega Blastoise and Slowbro after Stealth Rock damage. However, this move sacrifices Vikavolt's ability to pivot, which is its main niche.
  • Hidden Power Ground could also deal super effective damage to Metagross and Salazzle on the switch, but it is generally inferior to its other moves because it is relatively weaker
  • Agility can be used on a more offensive set to potentially turn Vikavolt into a fast sweeper. However, this set is inadvisable because Vikavolt is ridiculously slow and is not very powerful.

Vikavolt is one of the slowest Volt Switch users in the tier, allowing it to safely bring in a teammate. Keep in mind that Vikavolt doesn't take up a Mega Stone, actually resists Fighting-types, and has reliable recovery in Roost(This seems out of place as it should go Good points -> Bad points and this comes right after a bad point). Vikavolt has a Stealth Rock weakness which limits the amount of times it can pivot. Vikavolt should use its resistances to Fighting- Grass-, and Steel-types to safely come in against Pokemon like Shaymin, Machamp, and Metagross, which are usually threatened out thanks to its raw power putting a sizeable dent into anything that doesn't resist it. It can also come in against Pokemon that are generally no threat to it such as Slowbro, Gastrodon, and Virizion lacking Stone Edge (Both Gastrodon and Slowbro can threaten it on the switch with Toxic and Scald burns which is something to be weary about). Because Vikavolt usually forces switches, it can be a good idea to go ahead and use Roost to keep itself healthy. Volt Switch should be the move used the most so that Vikavolt can pivot in and out of battle. Should a Ground-type switch-in like Rhyperior be anticipated, it is generally safe to go ahead and use Energy Ball to heavily dent or OHKO them. While it is generally an offensive support Pokemon, Vikavolt can attempt to wallbreak early- to mid-game to punch holes in defensive Pokemon like Rhyperior, Metagross, and Slowbro for its teammates. Do not let Vikavolt get worn down too much: try to remove Stealth Rock so that Vikavolt can pivot much more throughout the match. Avoid Toxic if you can: the status condition also chips away Vikavolt's decent bulk.

Team Options
========

Vikavolt can be used alongside other Volt Switch or U-turn users such as Ribombee, Mandibuzz, and Raikou. Teammates that can get rid of entry hazards such as Mega Blastoise, Florges, and Donphan are much appreciated by Vikavolt so that it can pivot more often. Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Arcanine, Rhyperior, and Diancie also make good partners for Vikavolt. Vikavolt can also threaten out the Water- and Grass-types that plague these Pokemon. Pokemon that can threaten Rock-types such as Zygarde-10%, Metagross, and Virizion are also good teammates for Vikavolt. Offensive Pokemon like Gardevoir, Shaymin, Swellow, and Goodra appreciate Vikavolt's ability to weaken Steel-types like Metagross so that they can spam thier powerful STAB moves more often. They also appreciate the slow Volt Switch Vikavolt provides so that they can come into battle safely (I would mention wallbreakers that can take advantage of vikavolts slow pivot like machamp, tyrantrum etc). A cleric or Healing Wish user can help Heal Vikavolt in case it has been badly poisoned or worn down heavily by Stealth Rock and weak attacks. Partners like Florges, Vaporeon, and Gardevoir are good examples to consider for Vikavolt's team (Diancie is a good Heal Bell user/hazard setter that works well with Vikavolts ability to switch in on Steel-, Ground-, and Water-type Pokemon).

Other Options
=============

Vikavolt could also run an offensive variation of this set with a Modest Nature, Buginium Z, and a spread of 196 HP / 252 SpA / 60 Spe can outspeed Golisopod and Choice Band Rhyperior and threaten them out with it's powerful offenses. While this sounds appealing, Vikavolt's unique defensive traits are much more valued in RarelyUsed. Thunderbolt is a much more powerful Electric-type STAB that can potentially OHKO Mega Blastoise and Slowbro after Stealth Rock damage. However, this move sacrifices Vikavolt's ability to pivot, which is its main niche. Hidden Power Ground could also deal super effective damage to Metagross and Salazzle on the switch, but it is generally inferior to its other moves because it is relatively weaker. Agility can be used on a more offensive set to potentially turn Vikavolt into a fast sweeper. However, this set is inadvisable because Vikavolt is ridiculously slow and is not very powerful. (idk if this will be an unpopular opinion but I am against massively niche Pokemon having Other Options that definitely aren't good in the tier. If I was going to even consider running any of these sets I would just use other Pokemon that do the job better. It's analysis set is C- set which means any Other Option would be significantly worse than that)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Residual Damage**: Because of its Bug-typing, Vikavolt loses a quarter of it's health every time it switches into Stealth Rock.

[OVERVIEW]

With its unique resistances to Fighting-, Grass-, and Steel-type Pokemon such as Machamp, Virizion, and Metagross, Vikavolt appears promising as a bulky pivot in RarelyUsed. Vikavolt is one of the slowest Volt Switch users in the tier, allowing it to safely bring in a teammate. It also has access to Levitate, which makes it immune to Spikes as well as Ground-type attacks barring Thousand Arrows, such as Flygon's Earthquake or Nidoqueen's Earth Power. Despite those great traits, Mega Ampharos, Forretress, and Tsareena give Vikavolt an immense amount of competition for the same role: Mega Ampharos is much more powerful, and has a better defensive type, Forretress can also set up Spikes for its team and is much bulkier, and Tsareena resists Thousand Arrows and is immune to priority moves thanks to Queenly Majesty(I would probably mention noivern as well as it has pivoting ability, ground immunity, fight-resist and is pretty much better than vikavolt in every way.). It is also vulnerable to Toxic damage, which detriments its decent bulk and puts it on a timer, and it is also threatened out by faster Rock- and Fire-type Pokemon like Tyrantrum, Salazzle, and Arcanine.

Additionally, (AC) (helps with flow) Vikavolt has a Stealth Rock weakness, which limits the amount of times it can pivot. It is also vulnerable to Toxic damage, which detriments its decent bulk and puts it on a timer, and threatened out by faster Rock- and Fire-type Pokemon like Tyrantrum, Salazzle, and Arcanine.

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

While it is generally an offensive support Pokemon, Vikavolt can attempt to wallbreak early- to mid-game to through punching holes in defensive Pokemon like Rhyperior, Metagross, and Slowbro for its teammates. Do not let Vikavolt get worn down too much; try to remove Stealth Rock so Vikavolt can pivot much more throughout the match, and avoid Toxic if you can, since being poisoned also chips away Vikavolt's decent bulk.

Team Options
========

A cleric or Healing Wish user like Florges, Diancie, or Gardevoir can help Heal heal Vikavolt in case it has been badly poisoned or worn down heavily by Stealth Rock and weak attacks. Diancie can also set Stealth Rock and appreciates Vikavolt's ability to switch into Steel-, Water-, and Ground-types.

Other Options
=============

Vikavolt has no other viable options.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Residual Damage**: Because of its Bug-typing (RH), Vikavolt loses a quarter of its health every time it switches into Stealth Rock.

Thank you everyone! This is done.

snow please dont suggest very big changes to analyses in the future, saying "remove all ur oos" is not acceptable for an amcheck. while this mon in particular is fine with few oos check in with a member of qc before suggesting something that could alter the analysis like that. i brought back hp ground, the rest weren't very good.
