[OVERVIEW]

  • + Volkraken is a premier offensive threat in the CAP tier thanks it its excellent STAB coverage, incredible Special Attack stat and useful ability in Analytic.
  • + Can perform as a very threatening revenge killer, or a good wallbreaker thanks to its decent speed tier.
  • + Also has surprisingly good defensive stats that let it take a hit and find switch-in opportunities against passive Pokemon or resisted hits
  • - Sits at a crowded 95 speed that both encourages Choice Scarf and also misses out on important benchmarks as a Scarf user.
  • - Defenses are hindered by SR weakness, vulnerability to every hazard,, and common Ground/Rock/Electric weaknesses.
  • - STABs are both resists by Water and Dragon types, and checked by common mons Mega Latios, Pajantom and Arghonaut
  • - STABs can be hard to use with immunities on the other side of the field like Heatran or Mollux when choice-locked, and usual targets like Celesteela and Ferrothorn often have Protect that can scout out Volkraken's locked move

Volkraken is a premier offensive threat in the CAP tier thanks it its excellent STAB coverage, incredible Special Attack stat and useful ability in Analytic. Alongside its good speed tier, its offensive prowess allows it to operate as one of the deadliest wallbreakers in the tier, or one of the most threatening revenge killers. To go alongside its stellar offensive stats, Volkraken also has surprisingly good defensive stats that allow it switch-in opportunities against common passive Pokemon in the CAP tier.

Its speed tier isnt perfect, however, sitting at a crowded 95 that both encourages Choice Scarf and also misses out on important benchmarks as a Scarf user. Volkraken's defenses are hindered by a Stealth Rock weakness and vulnerability to every hazard, which is made worse by the hit-and-run nature encouraged by its reliance on Choice items. Its weakness to common Ground, Rock, and Electric type moves also cause problems. While Volkraken has an incredible STAB combination, bulky Dragons such as Mega Latios and Pajantom can switch into any of its attacks or coverage when healthy. It also dislikes that both of its STABs have immunity in the tier, from the likes of Heatran and Plasmanta, which can create guessing games when choiced.

Moves
========

  • Fire Blast is a powerful attack that threatens anything that doesnt resist it, good for revenging things like Aurumoth from full after a QD
  • Hydro Pump provides coverage against Fire and Rock types that would want to switch into Fire Blast
  • U-turn allows Volkraken to predict obvious switch-ins such as Arghonaut, Pajantom and Mega Latios and grab some momentum or pivot into a Pursuit trapper
  • Hidden Power Grass hits bulky Water types, 2hkoing Gastrodon and Krilowatt
  • Toxic will cripple switchins such as Pyroak, Arghonaut, Mega Latias and prevent them from walling Volk and its teammates
  • Memento in the last slot allows Volkraken to sacrifice itself to allow a dangerous sweeper such as SS Necturna to set up safely
  • In the last slot, Surf and Flamethrower are options to reliably revenge kill sweepers such as BD Cawmodore, but note the reduced power; Flamethrower for instance fails to ohko Aurumoth from full hp after a Quiver Dance

Fire Blast is a powerful attack that allows Volkraken to threaten any Pokemon that doesn't resist it. Surf provides coverage against Fire and Rock types that would want to switch into Fire Blast for enormous damage, as well as providing an accurate STAB to revenge dangerous sweepers such as Cawmodore. Hydro Pump is an alternative option that provides some additional firepower. U-turn allows Volkraken to predict obvious switch-ins such as Arghonaut, Pajantom and Mega Latios and grab some momentum or pivot into a Pursuit trapper. Hidden Power Grass is Volkraken's best chance against bulky Water types, 2hkoing Gastrodon and Krilowatt. Power Gem is an option to hit Mollux and both Charizard forms instead- as well as being slightly better coverage against Dragon types than Hidden Power Grass.

Set Details
========

  • Max speed and Spa is standard for Choice Scarf to outspeed the unboosted metagame.
  • Timid makes sure it can outspeed scarf lando, +1 aurumoth, and +1 zygarde, as well as tie with mons like scarf lele
  • Analytic means volkraken hits its switchins for bonus damage and achieves things like 2hkoing ashgren on the switch with fireblast/hydro.

Maximum Speed and Special Attack is standard for a Choice Scarf set, allowing it to outspeed the unboosted metagame. Timid nature is necessary to ensure Volkraken outspeeds Choice Scarf Landorus-T, +1 Aurumoth and tie with Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Tapu Lele. Analytic allows Volkraken to hit switch-ins for an extra chunk as well as achieve KOs on switch-ins that would otherwise not be possible, such as 2hkoing Ash-Greninja with Fire Blast.

Usage Tips
========

  • Volkraken works well used as a standard revenge killer.
  • Vokraken mostly wants to click its STAB moves as they are low risk thanks to the good damage Analytic lets it do to even resists
  • U-turn should be used not for damage but mainly to predict obvious switchins from common checks like Argho or Latis to keep momentum
  • Even without a boosting item Volkraken can be used early/mid as a breaker, bring it in on passive mons like Clefable or Celesteela or with Voltturn support and use it to weaken common balance cores.
  • Be careful of Knock Off and Thunder Wave from mons like Clef or Ferrothorn as Volkraken is dependant on its speed
  • Be careful to preserve Volkrakens HP so it can survive a boosted priority from the likes of Cawmodore, Zygarde or Ashgren

Volkraken works well when used as a standard revenge killer and cleaner. Volkraken's Analytic-boosted STAB moves hit most Pokemon for noticeable damage, so can be used the majority of the time without heavy prediction. If you are facing a dangerous sweeper such as Cawmodore or Swords Dance Mega Scizor its best to preserve Volkraken's HP to guarantee it survives a boosted Bullet Punch after Rocks. U-turn should be used to predict switch-ins from Volkraken's common checks like Arghonaut and Mega Latios in order to keep momentum. Despite not having a boosting item, Volkraken can also sometimes be brought in early and mid-game as a breaker. Try and bring it in on passive Pokemon such as Clefable or Celesteela, or with Voltturn support, and use it to weaken common balance cores. If using Volkraken in this manner, be careful of Knock Off and Thunder Wave from Clefable or Ferrothorn if Volkraken still has things it needs to revenge kill.

Team Options
========

  • Volkraken is easily worn down by hazards so hazard removal is much appreciated from Tomohawk or Tornadus-T
  • Colossoil and Tyranitar are standout teammates for pursuit trapping the likes of Mega Latios, Pajantom, Mollux for Volk, Colossoil also provides hazard removal
  • Pelipper is a fine defogger for rain teams, and boosts Volkrakens Hydro Pump so it can destroy common checks Mega Latios and Paj by itself.
  • Extrasensory Greninja can catch Arghonaut Toxapex and Mollux as well as get Volkraken in on U-turns
  • Volk loves hazard support due to the switches it forces, and helps its weak U-turn wear down opponents faster- Ferrothorn covers most of Volks weaknesses and sets hazards well

Volkraken is susceptible to being worn down quickly by entry hazards, and thus hazard removal is required. Gliscor and Colossoil are good teammates for this, as they cover Volkraken's Rock and Electric weaknesses and threaten potential switch-ins like Heatran, Mollux and Mega Latios. Colossoil is a standout teammate also for its ability to Pursuit Trap Latios and Pajantom for Volkraken. Pelipper is a fine Defogger for Rain teams, as Volkraken's Rain-boosted Hydro Pump is able to destroy common checks like Mega Latios by itself. Lures such as Extrasensory Greninja can be helpful for luring Arghonaut and Mollux. Volkraken also loves hazard support thanks to the switches it forces, so Ferrothorn can act as an excellent teammate that also covers Volkraken's weaknesses very well.

Moves
========

  • Fire Blast is a huge nuke that deals massive dmg to even bulky resists on the switch
  • Hydro pump is equally destructive and provides excellent coverage to hit Rock and Fire types
  • U-turn is used to predict switchins for Mega Latias or in complicated situations such as Heatran/Mollux on the opposing team
  • HP Grass can 2hko Argho and other water types trying to switch into Volkrakens STABs
  • In the final slot, Surf or Flamethrower can be used as weaker but more reliable alternatives to the main STABs to guarantee a hit. Flamethrower grants Volk a secondary STAB if Celesteela or Ferrothorn tries to stall it out of Fire Blast PP. Scald is an even weaker alternative to Surf that also threatens to burn switchins.

Fire Blast is a devastating nuke that will deal massive damage to even semi-bulky resists on the switch; Krilowatt takes at least 52% for instance. Hydro Pump is equally destructive, and provides excellent coverage. U-turn is used to predict switch-ins from its few switch-ins such as Mega Latias, or in complicated situations such as with Heatran or Plasmanta on the opposing team. Hidden Grass is able to 2hko Arghonaut and other Water-types trying to switch in to Volkraken's STAB attacks, as well as ohko checks like Gastrodon. Hidden Power Ground is an option that allows Volkraken to 2hko Toxapex on the switch, but also targets Heatran, Plasmanta and Mollux which are immune to one of Volkraken's STAB moves. Flamethrower and Scald are alternatives to Fire Blast and Hydro Pump that offer less damage in return for a guaranteed hit, although its only necessary to substitute one STAB attack for the more consistent alternative so Volkraken can still threaten the bulky Dragon types that this set can 2hko.

Set Details
========

  • Max spa and speed let it be threatening as possible with Specs
  • Modest maximizes damage output- can be paired with weather to 2hko Chansey with a weather boosted Fireblast/Hydro
  • Timid is an option to keep Volkraken faster than positive natures Lando and neutral natured Zygarde

Maximum Special Attack and Speed are required here in order to be as threatening as possible with Choice Specs. Timid keeps Volkraken at a decent speed tier offensively, outspeeding positive-natured Landorus-T and neutral-natured Zygarde, but Modest is an option that allows extra damage output that pairs particularly well with weather to 2hko Chansey.

Usage Tips
========

  • Without a speed boosting item Volkraken has to be more careful finding switchins
  • This set appreciates voltturn support to get in safely or being brought in after a teammate faints
  • Fire Blast or Hydro Pump are easily spammed in most situations since they do well over 50% to resists like Mega Latios and Pajantom with Analytic as well as ohkoing resists like Stratagem and Greninja on the switch after SR
  • Volkraken must exercise caution when Gastrodon or Mollux are on the opposite team as they can find switch-ins on choice locked Fire Blasts or Hydro Pumps thnks to immunity and resistance, so try and predict their switch with HP Grass or U-Turn respectively
  • Use this Volkraken early to destroy common balance cores, but be careful against Protect users like Celesteela or Ferrothorn that can scout for your choice-locked attacks

Without a speed boosting item, Volkraken must be more careful when finding switch-in opportunities. This set therefore appreciates Voltturn support to get in safely, or being brought in after a teammate faints. Fire Blast is easily spammed in most situations, now dealing well over half to previous "checks" like Mega Latios and Pajantom thanks to Analytic, and even ohkoing resists like Stratagem and Greninja on the switch after Stealth Rock. Volkraken must exercise caution when Heatran or Plasmanta are on the opposite team however, as they can switch into a Choice-locked Fire Blast or Hydro Pump respectively, so some prediction must be used to hit them with Hidden Power Ground on the switch-in. Use this Volkraken early on to obliterate common balance cores, thought watch out for Protect users like Celesteela and Ferrothorn who can scout for your Choice-locked attacks.

Team Options
========

  • Sweepers and cleaners appreciate Volkraken's ability to blow holes in a team- for instance DD Zygarde and SS Necturna can clean up after
  • Hazard setters like Lando-T and Ferrothorn cover Volkrakens weaknesses and help make its STAB moves even harder to switch into
  • Pelipper boosts Volks Hydro Pump to 2hko the entire metagame excluding immunities, provides Defog support and a slow U-turn, but makes it Fire Blast weaker
  • Voltturners are particularly useful to get Volkraken in safely so Tapu Koko, Torn-T and Lando-T are good as they also provide hazard supp
  • Trace Jumbao can come in on Argho, Mega Latias and non-Z Heatran who are three of the only things that can switch into a specs hit, as well as pass Wishes to keep Volk healthy

Sweepers and cleaners appreciate Volkraken's ability to blow holes in a team. Dragon Dance Zygarde and Belly Drum Cawmodore are both respectable options. Hazard setters like Landorus-T and Ferrothorn cover Volkraken's weaknesses, and help to make Volkraken's STABs even more difficult to switch into. Pelipper boosts Volkraken's Hydro Pump to terrifying levels and can provide it with Defog support and a slow U-turn, although makes its Fire Blast weak against anything not called Ferrothorn. Voltturners are particularly useful for this set to get Volkraken in safely, so Mega Scizor, Landorus-T and Colossoil are all very useful as they also provide hazard removal. Trace Jumbao can come in on Arghonaut and Heatran for free, the last bastions for surviving a boosted Fire Blast, as well as pass Wishes to Volkraken to keep it healthy.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Volkraken can bluff being choice locked with Z crystal as well as use it for a powerful nuke
  • Sun core with Drought Jumbao is appealing concept for Volkraken but it overlaps heavily with Heatran and struggles to use its Water STAB with a lack of 4x Water weakness in the tier currently
  • HP Ground on a Specs set can 2hko Toxapex, and also targets Heatran and Mollux.
  • HP Electric is a niche option that can target Mantine which walls Volkraken, and also hits Pelipper
  • Power Gem hits a few pokemon like ZardY and Mollux in particular but requires dropping a more valuable coverage move

Volkraken can bluff being Choice-locked with a Z-Crystal as well as use it in Sun or Rain for a huge nuke. Sun is an appealing concept for Volkraken, but it stacks weaknesses and competes with Heatran for the Z-slot, as well as struggling to use its Water STAB well with a lack of relevant 4x Water weaknesses in tier currently. Volkraken can also choose to run Toxic to lure and cripple switch-ins like Arghonaut or Mega Latias, but wont appreciate being locked into it or losing a coverage move. Memento is a niche option for a Choice Scarf set that allows Volkraken to sacrifice itself to allow a sweeper such as Shell Smash Necturna or Belly Drum Cawmodore to set up.

Lastly, Infiltrator is an option to hit through Substitute and Dual Screens, which allows it to put in good work against Dual Screens teams in particular. However, against any other archetype the bonus damage from Analytic will be sorely missed.

Checks and Counters
===================

  • Bulky waters- Argho, Gastro, Toxapex, Kril. Though all can be broken through with specs sets and the correct move, Toxapex is the most reliable answer for its ability to take even specs HP Ground once and pivot out
  • Spdef dragons- Mega Latios, Pajantom can switch in and threaten with EQ. Mega Latias can switch into even specs sets and recover off the dmg. However all these mons dont want to be pursuit trapped by Volks teammates. Cyclohm can switch into choice scarf, isnt easily pursuit trapped, and inflicts paralysis with Static if Volk U-turns
  • Mollux- Niche, but immune to both stabs and can set rocks to limit Volkraken in the future. However its worn down by SR itself and can be picked off with HP Ground
  • Chansey- takes even specs hits and sets up SR or cripples with status.
  • Faster mons- Most fasteer mons can switch in safely, but most teams will have faster pokemon. Without scarf it is revenged by Koko, Scarf lando-T, Mega Cruci, Plasmanta who all ohko. Even with scarf it can be outsped and threatened by scarfers like Kart and Jumbao if not at full.

Bulky Water-types: Bulky Water types like Arghonaut, Gastrodon, Toxapex, and Krilowatt can switch into Volkraken's STAB attacks, although must be careful for coverage on Choice Specs sets; Arghonaut and Gastrodon need to be careful for Hidden Power Grass, Toxapex must be careful for Hidden Power Ground, and Krilowatt dislikes both. Both Krilowatt and Toxapex dont want to switch into Rain-boosted Hydro Pumps either.

Specially Defensive Dragon-types: Mega Latios and Pajantom are able to switch in to Volkraken's STAB attacks and threaten back with a powerful Earthquake, and Mega Latias is perhaps the most reliable Volkraken answer in the tier thanks to stomaching Choice Specs sets and recovering off the damage. All of these pokemon need to be wary of being Pursuit-trapped by Volkraken's teammates, however. Static Cyclohm is a decent switch-in for Choice Scarf sets, isnt easily Pursuit-trapped, and can inflict Paralysis if Volkraken uses U-turn.

Mollux: While a niche pick in general, Mollux is immune to Volkraken's Water STAB, resists its Fire STAB, making it a good switch-in. It can also set Stealth Rock to limit Volkraken's switch-ins in the future. However, it'll be easily worn down by Stealth Rock itself and can be picked off with Hidden Power Ground or Power Gem.

Chansey: Chansey's high Special Defense allows it to take any hit from Volkraken, including Specs sets, and can cripple it with status or set up Stealth Rock to prevent it coming in again easily.

Faster Pokemon: Many faster Pokemon can't switch in to Volkraken safely, but its middling speed tier means most teams will have Pokemon that can revenge kill it or force it out. This problem is increased when not holding a scarf, with a range of Pokemon such as Tapu Koko, Scarf Landorus-T, Mega Crucibelle and Plasmanta easily outspeeding and knocking it out from full. Even with a Choice Scarf, it can be outsped and threatened by other Choice Scarfers like Kartana and Jumbao.

Hopefully this is ready for QC, if anyone wants to give it a look! I accidentally wrote it up as paragraphs first so ive hidden those in the "detail" boxes just in case i want to use parts in the future but pls ignore them for QC =)

Hi its me AM Check, feel free to implement any or none of this:
Can perform as a good wallbreaker, or a very threatening revenge killer thanks to its decent speed tier.
Flip the order in which these are mentioned to coincide with the order of the sets

Sits at a crowded 95 speed that both encourages Choice Scarf and also misses out on important benchmarks as a Scarf user.
I think this is meaning to say Scarf lets it outspeed most things, but some common scarfers can still outspeed it. I'd reword it to something like that for clarity if that is the intention.

both of its STABs have immunity in the tier, from the likes of Heatran and Plasmanta,
I dont think plas is the right example here since its mostly dead in the meta, perhaps Gastrodon?

Somewhere in the overview should mention Its reliance on High Power, low PP and accuracy moves in Hydro and Fire Blast imo.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Fire Blast
move 2: Surf / Hydro Pump Hydro Pump
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Hidden Power Grass / Power Gem Memento
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Analytic
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 Spa / 252 Spe
Memento > Power Gem because Mollux and Mantine aren't common at all anymore
Changed the slash order on the water STAB. Scarf can't afford to lose power by using surf unless it's on rain.

Surf provides coverage against Fire and Rock types that would want to switch into Fire Blast for enormous damage, as well as providing an accurate STAB to revenge dangerous sweepers such as Cawmodore. Hydro Pump is an alternative option that provides some additional firepower.
Flip the order these are mentioned to reflect the slash order

Add that memento is an additional option which allows Kraken to support its teammates before it dies by lowering opponents offenses, providing easy set-up opportunities. Something along those lines

HP Electric could be spoken about in moves as its Volk's best answer to Peliper and Mantine which granted isnt common anymore so feel free to miss this one.

Power Gem is an option to hit Mollux and both Charizard forms instead- as well as being slightly better coverage against Dragon types than HP Grass
Power Gem actually does slightly less than either STAB to Dragons remove the latter half of this point. Change Charizard to something more common like Pelipper.

Timid makes sure it can outspeed scarf lando, +1 aurumoth, and tie with mons like scarf lele or colossoil.
Wouldnt mention colo here scarf isnt common, mention outspeeding +1 Zygarde instead.

Volkraken works well used as a standard revenge killer/cleaner.
Not sure about calling it a cleaner due to its reliance on low accuracy and PP moves, something like "Revenge killer with the capacity to power through weakened teams".?

If using Volkraken as a breaker, be careful of Knock Off and Thunder Wave from mons like Clef or Ferrothorn if Volkraken still has things to revenge kill
These things are universally threatening to all Volkraken sets, so no need to mention being a breaker as a prerequisite - "be careful when bringing Volkraken in on pokemon such as x / y / z, as knock off and status-inducing moves can easily cripple volkraken.

If the opponent has a dangerous sweeper such as Cawmodore it is usually better to instead preserve Volkrakens HP so it can survive a boosted bullet punch after Rocks
Id change this to be less specific. Something like saving Volkrakens HP to live strong priority attacks from Cawmadore , Ash Gren, Zygarde etc

Volkraken is easily worn down by hazards so hazard removal is required
Nothing is required, just extremely helpful.

Gliscor and Colossoil are good teammates covering Rock and Electric weaknesses and threatening potential switchins like Heatran Mollux Mega Latis
I get where you're going with this but I don't think these are the right picks since most electric attacks are often paired with ice coverage ( Koko, Mage, Kril etc) or at least something to beat Grounds. If your wanting defensive partners here Ferrothorn is great for the reasons you mentioned.

Volk loves hazard support due to the switches it forces, and helps its weak U-turn wear down opponents faster- Ferrothorn covers most of Volks weaknesses and sets hazards well
Combine this point with the one above.

Colossoil is a standout teammate for pursuit trapping the likes of Mega Latios, Pajantom, Mollux for Volk
Mention ya boy TTar here too

Lures such as Extrasensory gren can catch Arghonaut and Mollux
Not sure about this point since lures can be anything. If you keep it add Pex to the list as well though

name: Choice Specs
move 1: Fire Blast / Flamethrower
move 2: Hydro Pump / Scald
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Hidden Power Grass / Hidden Power Ground
item: Choice Specs
ability: Analytic
nature: Timid / Modest
evs: 4 Def / 252 Spa / 252 Spe
Modest First slash, specs kraken is all about power.
  • Timid keeps Volkraken faster than positive natures Lando and neutral natured Zygarde

  • Modest is an option that increases damage output- can be paired with weather to 2hko Chansey with a weather boosted Fireblast/Hydro
Flip to represent order of slashes, reword to make timid the optional one

Fire Blast is easily spammed in most situations sine it now does well over 50% to previous "checks" like Mega Latios and Pajantom with Analytic as well as ohkoing resits like Stratagem and Greninja on the switch after SR
This implies the reader has read the scarf set analysis i think? Id change it to something like "Choice Specs allows Volkraken to 2hko x/y/z which it otherwise wouldnt be able to".

Fire blast and Hydro should be mentioned as which one you are spamming is matchup dependent

Volkraken must exercise caution when Heatran or Plasmanta or Mollux are on the opposite team as they can find switch-ins on choice locked Fire Blasts or Hydro Pumps thnks to immunity, so try and predict them with HP Ground or U-turn.
Heatran will never come in raw on a Volkraken, same with Plas. I think this point is mainly covered when you talk about Immunities to Fire blast and Hydro so just add something like."however these pokemon must be wary due to the possibility of HP Ground or U-Turn" to the end of that sentence.

Use this Volkraken early to destroy common balance cores,
idt it has to be early specs is gonna shred balance cores no matter the game state.

Sweepers and cleaners appreciate Volkraken's ability to blow holes in a team- for instance DD Zygarde and BD Cawmodore can clean up after
Funny way to spell Shell Smash Necturna

Voltturners are particularly useful to get Volkraken in safely so Mega Scizor, Lando-T and Colossoil are good as they also provide hazard supp
Landorus-T, Tornadus-T and Tapu Koko. Sorry if im a broken record but i think the more common stuff should be mentioned.

Trace Jumbao can come in on Argho, Mega Latias and Heatran
eh heatran is questionable since coming in on it is one way to die to Cork Crash, id probably say "None-Z move Heatran" just to be safe.

Memento is a niche option for Choice Scarf to let a sweeper like SS Nect or BD Cawm set up
i actually have this slashed i dont think its too niche, idk if you dont want to slash it id at least have it in moves and not OO for Scarf imo

Infiltrator is an option to put in decent work against Dual Screens teams in particular. But against any other archetype the bonus dmg from Analytic is missed
Absolutley not.

First attempt at an AM check, seems overall good Pip! Apologise if ive been too picky getting to grips aha

I think ive implemented all of the things jho and jordy have given feedback on if anyone wants to take another lewk =)

[Overview]

Mention its access to U-turn letting it consistently gain momentum.

  • - Sits at a crowded 95 speed that both encourages Choice Scarf and also misses out on important benchmarks as a Scarf user.
Give a few examples of these "important benchmarks" that it misses out on.

[Choice Scarf]

[Set]

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Fire Blast
move 2: Hydro Pump
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Hidden Power Grass / Toxic
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Analytic
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 Spa / 252 Spe
Slash Flamethrower in the last slot because getting PP stalled by Celesteela sucks.

[Moves]

  • U-turn allows Volkraken to predict obvious switch-ins such as Arghonaut, Pajantom and Mega Latios and grab some momentum or pivot into a Pursuit trapper
Volkraken itself cannot predict.

  • In the last slot, Surf and Flamethrower are options to reliably revenge kill sweepers such as BD Cawmodore, but note the reduced power; Flamethrower for instance fails to ohko Aurumoth from full hp after a Quiver Dance
Make a separate bullet for Flamethrower and Surf, considering Flamethrower will get slashed.

[Set Details]

  • Max speed and Spa is standard for Choice Scarf to outspeed the unboosted metagame.
Reword to say "Maximum Speed and Special Attack investment coupled with a Timid nature is run to hit as hard as possible and to outspeed Choice Scarf Landorus-T, +1 Aurumoth, and +1 Adamant Zygarde,"

  • Timid makes sure it can outspeed scarf lando, +1 aurumoth, and +1 zygarde, as well as tie with mons like scarf lele
Remove this because it's mentioned in the other point.

  • Analytic means volkraken hits its switchins for bonus damage and achieves things like 2hkoing ashgren on the switch with fireblast/hydro.
Just say it punishes switches.

[Usage Tips]

  • U-turn should be used not for damage but mainly to predict obvious switchins from common checks like Argho or Latis to keep momentum
Toxic also fucks with these. Mention Pajantom.

What should I do when Ferrothorn or Celesteela clicks Protect?

[Team Options]

  • Colossoil and Tyranitar are standout teammates for pursuit trapping the likes of Mega Latios, Pajantom, Mollux for Volk, Colossoil also provides hazard removal
They appreciate Volkraken's U-turn support.

  • Volk loves hazard support due to the switches it forces, and helps its weak U-turn wear down opponents faster- Ferrothorn covers most of Volks weaknesses and sets hazards well
Give more examples.

[Choice Specs]

  • U-turn is used to predict switchins for Mega Latias or in complicated situations such as Heatran/Mollux on the opposing team
Just Mega Latias??

  • In the final slot, Surf or Flamethrower can be used as weaker but more reliable alternatives to the main STABs to guarantee a hit. Flamethrower grants Volk a secondary STAB if Celesteela or Ferrothorn tries to stall it out of Fire Blast PP. Scald is an even weaker alternative to Surf that also threatens to burn switchins.
Same here, give Flamethrower and Surf different bullets.

[Set Details]

  • Modest maximizes damage output- can be paired with weather to 2hko Chansey with a weather boosted Fireblast/Hydro
Also Toxapex!!

Do the same what was done with the Set Details on Choice Scarf, but reword it.

[Team Options]

  • Hazard setters like Lando-T and Ferrothorn cover Volkrakens weaknesses and help make its STAB moves even harder to switch into
This is worded very awkwardly, so reword it.

Mention Drought Jumbao, Pursuit trappers, and hazard removal.

[Other Options]

  • Volkraken can bluff being choice locked with Z crystal as well as use it for a powerful nuke
But why's it less desirable?

  • Sun core with Drought Jumbao is appealing concept for Volkraken but it overlaps heavily with Heatran and struggles to use its Water STAB with a lack of 4x Water weakness in the tier currently
Remove this because it's now in Team Options.

  • HP Ground on a Specs set can 2hko Toxapex, and also targets Heatran and Mollux.
  • HP Electric is a niche option that can target Mantine which walls Volkraken, and also hits Pelipper
But why are they less desirable??

[Checks and Counters]

This is not the format we use for Checks and Counters, it should look like this (example).
1537008314639.png

  • Mollux- Niche, but immune to both stabs and can set rocks to limit Volkraken in the future. However its worn down by SR itself and can be picked off with HP Ground
Also susceptible to being taken advantage of by U-turn.

Give entry hazards a mention of its own because Volkraken is very susceptible to being worn down.

What I noticed throughout this analysis is that you don't go very indepth, which is not helpful to the reader at all. Also, a lot of it just doesn't hold up to our grammar standards, please read up on this, and when writing it up after 2/3, please reword a lot of stuff that just sounds super awkward.

Once all of this is implemented I'll take another look.
