Quality Control Wallbreaker Zacian-C [QC 0/2]

[OVERVIEW]

Zacian-C's absurd Speed, ability, and amazing typing make it one of the most dangerous physical threats in Ubers. A single Swords Dance sets it up to threaten 2HKOs on even the tier's premier physical walls such as Ho-Oh or Necrozma-DM. This allows Zacian-C to take over games if left alone for even a single turn. Fairy/Steel typing allows it to switch into dragon type attacks and check Ekiller Arceus even at +3. Its wide selection of powerful coverage moves can easily check tier staples such as Arceus-Fairy, Koraidon and Miraidon. It serves as an extraordinarily powerful wallbreaker and sweeper, able to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame save for Deoxys. While extremely powerful, Zacian-C is heavily reliant on its ability Intrepid Sword, which only activates once per game, and is easily revenge killed by Scarf Koraidon, the strongest Pokemon in the tier. It also struggles to break past Necrozma-DM without lowering its own stats with Close Combat or taking recoil damage from Wild Charge, allowing it to be revenge killed by priority users such as Ekiller. Good positioning and threat control are required for it to seize an opportunity and tear apart enemy teams.

[SET]

Zacian-Crowned @ Rusted Sword
Ability: Intrepid Sword
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Fighting / Flying
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Behemoth Blade / Play Rough
- Close Combat / Play Rough
- Wild Charge

[SET COMMENTS]

Wild Charge allows Zacian-C to break through Flying or Water types that might otherwise resist its attacks, such as Ho-Oh, Arceus-Water, Corviknight, and defensive Kyogre. Close Combat allows Zacian-C to OHKO Arceus, prevents its opponents from using Tera Steel, and is the strongest option to damage Necrozma-DM, killing defensive sets in two hits alongside Tera Fighting. Tera Flying instead allows Zacian-C to shed its Ground weakness, and set up on Arceus-Ground, Groudon, or Landorus-T. It can also terastalize defensively to live a hit from Choice Scarf users such as Koraidon and Miraidon.

Zacian-C can lure threats like Ho-Oh and Necrozma-DM for teammates such as Koraidon, Ekiller, or your own Necrozma-DM. It can also check Scale Shot Koraidon. It fits best on Bulky Offense teams, who use its speed and wallbreaking ability to make progress, and Hyper Offense teams where its high speed helps it against opposing offensive team compositions. Ribombee and its Sticky Webs make a fantastic partner for Zacian-C, providing much needed speed control against opposing scarfers. Physically defensive Pokemon such as Groudon, Skeledirge, or Landorus-T prove difficult for it to break through, so it enjoys being paired with a strong special attacker such as Miraidon or Kyogre. Zacian-C also likes being paired with strong physical Pokemon such as Scale Shot Koraidon, Taunt Ekiller, and Rayquaza. Setup sweepers such as Scale Shot Koraidon, Necrozma-DM, Kyurem-B, and Arceus all benefit from Zacian-C's ability to force out Teras and severely weaken enemy physical walls. While not as common, it can still be valuable on slower teams, especially against Miraidon, and serves as a potent revenge killer once its opponents have been chipped by hazards.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
====
Substitute can be run over an attacking move, sacrificing its coverage for the ability to dodge status conditions and safely set up. Unfortunately, giving up an attack greatly limits Zacian-C's offensive profile, meaning this set relies heavily on your team being able to cover the resulting bad matchups.

Tera Blast can be run on double STAB (Swords Dance + Behemoth Blade + Play Rough) sets to provide additional coverage, replacing Wild Charge. Tera Water allows Zacian-C to resist defensive Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike and 2HKO it at +3, as well as OHKOing both Ho-Oh and Tera Fire Calyrex-I. Tera Ground instead allows Zacian-C to check Scarf or Double Dance Miraidon sets and Tera Fire Pokemon such as Ekiller.

Checks and Counters
====

**Speed Control:** Zacian-C can never outspeed Choice Scarfers or Speed boosting Paradox Pokemon. Tera Fire Choice Scarf Koraidon always guarantees an OHKO on Zacian-C with Flare Blitz unless it Terastalizes to a fire resist. Scarf Miraidon and Iron Bundle can revenge kill Zacian-C after it has been chipped.

**Bulky Ground Types:** Groudon, Arceus-Ground, and Landorus-T can leverage their HP investment to survive Intrepid Sword boosted attacks, then threaten Zacian-C with super effective ground type attacks.

**Ho-Oh:** Once the Intrepid Sword boost has been spent, Zacian-C struggles to break through Ho-Oh, letting it pivot into and check Zacian-C.

**Unaware Pokemon:** Pokemon such as Skeledirge or Dondozo ignore Intrepid Sword's attack boost, allowing them to comfortably wall Zacian-C and prevent it from making progress against bulkier team compositions.

**Tera Fire Users:** Zacian-C's primary STAB types are both resisted by Fire, allowing Pokemon such as SD Koraidon, Ekiller Arceus, or Calyrex-I to flip the matchup around and safely revenge kill or threaten a sweep against Zacian-C.

**Necrozma-DM**: The ability to resist all of Zacian-C's standard attacks makes Necrozma-DM one of its most reliable checks. However, Offensive Necrozma-DM variants still die from a +3 Tera Fighting Close Combat. Defensive variants struggle to kill Zacian-C, while being beaten by a Wild Charge followed by a Close Combat at +3.

Please include an overview, Other Options, Checks & Counters and a credits section before you put this up for QC :)

I was extremely busy with work last week and did not have the opportunity to work on this at all.

I wasn't sure exactly how you're supposed to order the threats in the C&C section; the guide says to "insert whole typings and then specify the Pokemon of such type that are threats", and most examples on the dex have individual Pokemon at the end, so I stuck NDM there even though IMO it's by far the most common mon you preserve into zac to shut it down. If needed I'm happy to adjust the order in the section.

There are also some alternative tera types I've seen on ladder lately, but I'm not sure if they are actually worth using.

Zacian-C shines on bulky or hyper offensive team structures which allow it to get the most value out of its Intrepid Sword boost
the intrepid sword part is quite unimportant. zacian lures ndm / hooh for teammates like koraidon, ekiller, ndm. it also can offensively check scale shot koraidon. it fits best on bulky offense that need the speed and wallbreak to make progress, and HO teams where zacian helps into opposing offense because of its speed. . Ribombee and its Sticky Webs make a fantastic partner for Zacian-C, providing much needed speed control against opposing scarfers. Physically defensive Pokemon such as Groudon, Skeledirge, or Landorus-T prove difficult for it to break through, so it enjoys being paired with a strong special attacker such as Miraidon or Kyogrezacian also enjoys getting paired with other physical mons like scale shot koraidon, rayquaza, taunt ekiller. you mention scale shot koraidon later on, you should mention it here.. Unfortunately, giving up an attack greatly limits Zacian-C's offensive profile, meaning this set relies heavily on your team being able to cover the resulting bad matchups.

mention tera blast water on sets that run double stab. the set is swords dance play rough behemoth blade tera blast water. it lets you resist ndm's sunsteel strike while 2hkoing it at +3. it also ohkos hooh and tera fire caly. similarly, mention that tera blast ground can be used on sets such as swords dance behemoth/playrough wild charge tera blast. tera blast ground checks scarf / agility miraidon on HO and checks tera fire stuff like ekiller.

Checks and Counters
====

**Speed Control:** Rusted Sword means Zacian-C can never outspeed Choice Scarfers or speedSpeed boosting Paradox Pokemon reword this; the "rusted sword" part is unnecessary. Tera Fire Choice Scarf Koraidon always guarantees an OHKO on Zacian-C with Flare Blitz unless it Terastalizes to a fire resist. Scarf Miraidon or Eternatus and Iron Bundle can all revenge kill Zacian-C after it has been chipped.

**Bulky Ground Types:** Groudon, Arceus-Ground, and Landorus-T can leverage their HP investment to survive Intrepid Sword boosted attacks, then threaten Zacian-C with super effective ground type attacks.

add hooh here and how it can pivot into zac / check zac after intrepid sword was wasted

**Unaware Pokemon:** Pokemon such as Skeledirge or Dondozo ignore Intrepid Sword's attack boost, allowing them to comfortably wall Zacian-C and prevent it from making progress against bulkier team compositions.

**Tera Fire Users:** Zacian-C's primary STAB types are both resisted by Fire, allowing Pokemon such as SD Koraidon or Calyrex-I to flip the matchup around and safely revenge kill or threaten a sweep against Zacian-C. add ekiller

**Necrozma-DM**: The ability to comfortably resist all of Zacian-C's standard attacks makes Necrozma-DM one of its most reliable checks. Behemoth Blade, Play Rough, and Wild Charge struggle to meaningfully damage Necrozma-DM, while Zacian-C is threatened by a retaliatory Earthquake, which will always OHKO it at +1. Close Combat is Zacian-C's best option against Necrozma-DM, but even at +3 it cannot OHKO fully physically invested variants, and the defense drop allows even sets without Earthquake to 1v1 it after any chip. necrozma dies from a +3 cc if its offense. if its defensive, it cant kill zacian. both spreads fail to outspeed zacian at +1; offensive only does it if its jolly. zacian can beat ndm with a +3 wild charge followed by a close combat. while necrozma is indeed one of the most "reliable" checks we have, the way you word this sequence makes it look like its a failproof option. its not. earthquake only ohkos at +1 guaranteed if its offensive necrozma. please reword this.

Wild Charge allows Zacian-C to break through Flying or Water types that might otherwise resist its attacks, such as Ho-Oh, Arceus-Water, Corviknight, and defensive Kyogre. Close Combat allows Zacian-C to OHKO Arceus, prevents its opponents from using Tera Steel(I'd just mention steel gira here, theres not much else that runs tera steel), and is the strongest option to damage Necrozma-DM, killing defensive sets in two hits alongside Tera Fighting. Tera Flying instead allows Zacian-C to shed its Ground weakness, and set up on Arceus-Ground, Groudon, or Landorus-T. Setup sweepers such as Scale Shot Koraidon, Necrozma-DM, Kyurem-B, and Arceus all benefit from Zacian-C's ability to force out Teras and severely weaken enemy physical walls. Dondozo is not viable at all, reword this talking only about dirge

**Tera Fire Users:** Most of Zacian-C's attacks primary STAB types are both resisted by Fire, allowing Pokemon such as SD Swords Dance Koraidon, Ekiller Arceus, or Calyrex-I to flip the matchup around and safely revenge kill or threaten a sweep against Zacian-C. Tera Fire Pokemon like Koraidon, Arceus, and Calyrex-I all take neutral damage from most of Zacian-C's attacks and can revenge kill it and threaten to sweep.
