First of all I must say english is not my mother language so forgive me if I made mistakes and I hope you can read and enjoy this Wastory!

Well, I'm back at home. It has been a great weekend barring the actual event. I travelled with my flatmate (DONSTEVE) from Ciudad Real to Madrid Thursday afternoon, where we had to wait for K-OS. Then we grabbed something to dinner in Burger King and then we headed to the subway.

We arrived at the airport at 1 a.m. and our flight was scheduled at 6:25 a.m. so we were finishing our teams and having some fun making videos and all. Then we passed the airport hack-check and waited for an hour until they opened the gate. I had a very bulky case but we managed to distract the flight attendant to get it inside xD

We spent the most time of the flight sleeping so nothing special here. The weather was foggy and when the plane landed almost everybody thought it was a turbulence. Well, right now we are un Beauvois, 90 more Km to Paris. We get our tickets to the bus and wait. In the bus we leveled up our mons a bit, now we only need to ev train them.
We arrived at Paris and then we went to the subway to go to Bastille, where we had to get another subway, just one station to ledrou-rollin, where our hostel where placed. We spent the time in the subway talking with a nice old french guy.

Finally we arrived to the hotel but they were cleaning so we had to wait and we decided to go to the Mc'Donalds. At this point I was exhausted and I fell asleep while eating xD Then we got back to the hostel and we confirmed our staying but the hostel has such a weird policy, you can't be in your room from 11 am to 3 pm, so we had to wait again for 2 hours. In the meantime I fall asleep again, as well K-OS, DONSTEVE grabed a bag and went to walk around Paris for some hours.
At 3 pm we grab our key and finally we were able to go our room. We talked a bit and then we rested 3-4 hours. At this time DONSTEVE arrived and fell asleep exhausted while K-OS and me did the ev train. Finally at 9:30 or so we finished so we decided to go to the hall to check if the italians, germans or the rest of spainards had arrived. We saw the italians so we introduced ourselves and checked smogon and spanish army whlie being there. At some point arrived another italian with a good looking pizza so we asked him where did he grab it and went there.

While we were waiting our pizzas we saw the germans and we decided to surprise them. We hided ourselves and when the were wailking among us we screamed the amoongus scream (the amoongus scream was a last's year thing we were screaming all day). Drug duck turned his head and recognised us, so some hugs and kisses after they went to the hostal to check-in and we kept on waiting for our pizzas. When we finally got our pizzas we headed to the hostel where the germans were crowding the hall. Then matty walk toward us and we introduced him to the germans. We were talking aobut half an hour about how we were going to the vgc the next day and then we said bye and went to our room to eat our pizzas.

DONSTEVE was still asleep so we decided to eat the pizzas and leave the room to hang out with the germans. The pizzas were given with a spicy sauce but K-OS didn't read it and his pizza was almost uneatable so we shared mine and left the room.

Then we played some MK 7 with the germans with my yoshi kart and my yoshi shirt pwning asses! nah, they were a great games, misaki, flame, fatum and me shared the victories while K-OS and drug duck struggled haha, btw I got haxed at some point by flame, he was haxing all night xD Then we left the room at 1 am or so and went back to our room. We told DONSTEVE we were leaving in 1 hour and went to sleep.

Soooo 3 a.m. the day of the event. We left the hostel at exactly 4 a.m. we asked how to go to espace champerret and finally we get a bus from bastille to porte champerret. When we arrived bellanko called us 3 or 4 times while we were lost xD Finally we found the espace champerret, a worse location than la defense because is smaller, less cool and is semi-hided.
When we arrived only bellanko and one frech (i think) were there. We were talking about what to expect and at some point yoshi appeared and we had a brief chat with him. 30 minutes later the germans arrived, just when they were opening the doors of the recint. Then the englands arrived, at this point DONSTEVE and me had to do some last-hour changes so we went to a lonely place to do it safely. When we finished we went back with the rest of the group. After waiting a bit, one guy of the local staff walked toward us and told us to go to the queue. It was vgc time! so DONSTEVE, K-OS and me left the group. Sunglases and headphones plugged in to focus in the tournament. The queue and the registration was faster than other years, and finally.... VGC!

My first match:

I wanted to face Rafael Candelarasi or something like that, the guy that haxed me last year in Paris in semifinals, but there was no luck, I was matched with Osirus from UK.

It was a great game against a cool guy, a shame we had to face that early but with the amount of top battlers in this qualifier it was more likely to face a great oponnet than a random n00b.
I don't remember the battle exactly and I don't want to reveal neither of our teams. I'll edit later this week when the Madrid qualifier be over. What I can say is that there was almost no luck involved. One critical hit by his side and a side efect by my side. The critical hit hurted me but I was able to manage my way trough it and my side effect didn't matter because the match was already over. 2-0 I think. GG

My second match:

I was paired with a german but a nice spanish speaking staff told me that if I wanted to, she could pair me with another guy. I did so and I was paired with Nathan, form UK again.
I don't know if you will play again this year so I'll edit later with the details of this match and the battle video. What i can say is that the match begun bad from me but I managed to get the win 3-0. I had some luck at one point but I think it wasn't determinant. Maybe without it the result would have been 2-0. He was a nice guy too, he wished me good luck, same as Osirus and I felt bad for him because it sucks to face 2 great opponents and great guys in the first 2 rounds, but that's vgc.

My third match:

.........................................Ok, it's enough. I faced the winner of the tournament.
We led exactly with the same leads but due to a incredible amount of hax I went down 3-4 quickly. Then, more insane dosis of hax, 2-3. The final score was 2-0. But even with the amount of hax involved if I would have crited the mon I attacked the last turn, I would have won, but the luck wasn't on my side. At this point I have been haxed out 6 tournaments before, even reaching two semifinals, Paris 2009 where I lost to galooks due to a misclick and an Hydropump missed and Paris 2011 where a hammer arm crit from a tornadus on my scarf terrakion destroyed me. But if you put all the hax I've had against in those 6 matches, It doesn't even came close to match the hax against me I had in this battle. I'm not saying my opponent was bad, far from it, He is a great player, but clearly he didn't deserve the paid trip. Even I was haxed when I wanted to save the video battle. The game froze and I couldn't save it to show you how I lost. This sucks.

After losing I was destroyed, I even dropped some tears. I've spent so much money, time and effort, sacrificing a lot of thing to play in the vgcs, to get nothing. Today, after 4 years of vgcs, I can't say I've been outplayed by an opponent, there have been more or less hax, and some missplays or missclicks that wouldn't have mattered at all if the hax weren't there. The closest match i've been to be outplayed was in Madrid last year when my opponent faked me a choice scarf jellicent and seted trick room while I used tailwind in the first turn. But I would have stalled the trick room without criticals, finchs and all.

It was tough to be there watching my opponent win the whole thing and didn't help too that the two guys that had win me in the two semifinals were there (galooks and Raphael). Galooks is a nice guy, i don't blame him, I blame the hax, we were talking after te tournament again. It didn't help too watching the top 16 televised match with the serene grace blizzarring blissey.

At least in the vgcs I've met some cool people like drug duck, flame, fatum, viper and the rest of the german guys, the UK guys, the italian dudes and I've had fun with my friends K-OS, mithos, alex and DONSTEVE. But losing definately hurts.

K-OS lost to pokerob in top 32 (some hax and some outplays involved) and DONSTEVE tied with Luna in top 8. It was 3-3 at the end of the regulation time but he lost due to hp %. Without hax he definately would have won.

--------------------------------------

VGC Over. Let's talk about the post-vgc.

Outside the recint we tried to record a strange competition the germans had. The winner had to finish first in a race upstaris and downstairs. I tried to record it but they were fast haha. I even called it a national german sport. Then we waited to the groupal photo. (I'm the guy in black with black sunglasses at the left in the 2nd or third row, I'll check it later. K-OS and DONSTEVE are just above me). Then we arranged to meet the germans at 6:30 pm in Notre-Damme and we left the espace champerret to go to sightseen. But before it we decided to eat something at mc donalds where we met for the last time the UKers. We said bye and then we went to the eiffel tower. We took some pictures and as it was almost raining we decided to go back to the hostel.
We fell asleep because we were so tired and we forgot completely our date with the germans. We woke up at 9:30 pm and went to the german rooms where we drunk a german beer courtesy of drug duck (thanks dude, you are so awesome, thanks for translating us in english and spanish). Then we said bye and some kisses, huggs and good lucks after we went to sleep again.

We woke up early, at 6 am or so because we wanted to get breakfast and to properly visit Paris. We stole a great amount of bread and we left the hotel. Next stop: Notre-Damme. We drunk a guiness beer in a coffe-shop near Notre-Damme because it was cheap due to St. Patrick's Day. Then we got inside Notre-Damme where it was a sign with a "NO FLASH" notice :(

Anyways, then we go by walking to the louvre, where we took some amazing photos and where we got some souvenirs. Then we walked across the champs elysees where I bought an awesome shirt of the Miami Heat at the adidas oficial store and K-OS bought a paris saint germaine jersey. Suddenly it begun to rain so we decided to visit some stores, like nike, toyota, renault, etc. As it didn't stop raining and we were hungry, we ran to a mc donanlds again, losing sunglasses in the meantime. We visted the Arc de Triomphe and got the RER to the Charles de gaulle airport. Our flight was at 7:00 pm and it was 3 pm so we spent some time eating and playing some vgc 12 matches. Then we took the flight and we slept again during the most of the time.

We are in Madrid now and as always we are hungry so as always we went to a mc donalds, dude the taste of the burguers here in Spain is much better. As we had spent the weekend with burguers we had a blow off fight at the airport (I don't know how to explain it, you don't learn those kind of things at english lessons xD).

K-OS had to grab a bus at 1 am while DONSTEVE and me had to take a train at 6:40 am so we decided to leave the airport and we went with K-OS to his station. Then we said him bye and went to our station, but it was closed. It closes from 1 am to 5 am so we had to spent the night in the strets. We were with a cool black guy that was in the same situation as us. At some point we were almost frozen even wearing all the clothes of our cases. Even with a towel in the head, sunglases and socks as gloves. We asked the security guy if we can go in but he told us no. Later we saw him smoking in the restricted area and we took some photos and videos of him. Then at 5:00 am he opened the doors and I kindly asked him why he breaks the rules and smokes in the station but he can't break the rules to let us in because it was 1º C outside. He told me he had never smoked in his life and I answered that I will try to get him fired for being such a moron.

Now we had one and a half hours to spend and we were ultra-tired. DONSTEVE fell asleep twice in 3 minutes in less than 10 seconds xD

Finally we got our train, 1 hour to Ciudad Real, where we got a bus to hour flat. At 8 am we finally arrive and we went to sleep without open the cases or checking the forums etc (each one in is own room, don't think we dream together haha). And that's our Paris 2012 VGC. There are some parts missing but right now I have to study because I have 2 important exams tomorrow so I will edit later if I remember something and I'll post the photos and videos when I upload them.

Ups:

- Hanging out with the germans & other people from the rest of Europe
- K-OS and DONSTEVE for being so hilarious
- A lot of great videos & photos

Downs:

- Losing again by bullshit hax
- Speding the last night at the streets
- Rain

PS: feel free to comment and share your thoughts, and don't worry about correcting my mistakes, I would really appreciate it if you do.

Great warstory flash, I'm really sorry you had to lose to hax yet again :/ I know how amazing of a player you are from our VGC 2011 match back during the Autumn Friendly. I'll be rooting for you to win in Spain! (Props to you for being the first one to write a Paris warstory too :D)

Nice warstory! I wish I knew enough Spanish to respond in it, as you have taken the time to write this in English, but alas. The European VGC's sound like a lot of fun, many different cultures and their playstyles mixing together. I have yet to drop out of a VGC to serious hax, the matches I have lost were due to bad previous teams of my mine and outplaying. It's too bad your situation is quite the opposite. Best of luck in future events, especially if you plan to go to Madrid!

Flash! It was a pleasure meeting you, K-Os and Donsteve again. They were some tough matchups early on you got, but they don't seem to allow any friend ruling as it stands. I got paired with Donsteve t16, and didn't realise he was your friend until after.

The hax seems to be really taking a toll this year, and with Single Elimination, it really cripples some players. I didn't manage one match without it this year. Maybe they'll be reconsidering the format for this reason, but, who knows.

The warstory was great though, it seemed you made the most of your time in Paris. You did a lot more than we did after, that's for sure. Maybe see you next year, if you want to brave the Hax again :)

Thank you dude, I'll try again in Spain this weekend, I hope I qualify and you too at nats to meet you in worlds. It would be awesome

Haha, no problem dude, I do it for fun and I like to practice my english. Thanks

Yeah, It was a pleasure to meet you again, I'm sorry I haven't mentioned you in the warstory, when I edit it I'll do it for sure, there are a lot of parts missing but I'm tired. And for next year if I don't qualify in Madrid and I dont win Worlds :naughty: I suppose we will go again to Paris but we will try to go to Germany if drug_duck & co offer us a long stay there haha :pimp:

Heard Havak and Twash call you out when we were in the queue as a good player, I want to see the best representing Spain at Worlds! Let's hope your as good as you've stated here! :D

Hey, yeah that was me you battled, i would love to see that battle video as i miss-clicked when trying to save the video >.<

If i remember rightly it was a good battle, sucks you had to battle the winner in the 3rd round though :( but i guess someone has to.

Thanks for not putting my team on here as i intend to go to Milan and try there, and i am not sure if i am sticking with this team or not yet.

Good luck at the Spanish VGC

I had the battle video because I wasn't able to save the next battle when I lost, I'm gonna record it but I won't upload it yet. I was planning on upload it after Madrid, but if you are competing in Milán I will upload it after this one. And good luck for you too at the Italian VGC

So your luck strikes again, hein? Maybe you'll fare better in Madrid and get the trip to Hawaii that you deserve (although many people in Spain also deserve it). I would say I would try to get the trip myself but my training in the last weeks has shown me a grim future, so I'll just hope you don't join me in the sidelines early as usual :P .

And from my own experience I would say that the Mc Donalds in France are better than in Spain, maybe due to the fact that in Spain you don't get fries with salt, you get salt with fries :P . Of course no Mc Donalds beats a portuguese Mc Donalds :P .

EDIT: As for the game freezing, I think that usually happens when you pick up the DS before the battle actually ends in the game, thus stoping the IR connection. The game freezes for a while because it is trying to reconnect the DSs but is unable to. This happened to me last year. So friends, do not leave the table before the battle is actually over. It's not like you have some other place to go except the finalist lounge and that place will wait for you so no worries :P .

Hahaha I love the name. You're one of those players who's actually good but constantly gets gayed on in Europe, so it annoys me to see you lose again. At least you had fun though.

So there wasn't friendrule at Paris? In Birmingham I had the staff ask literally every round if me and my opponent knew each other, which I thought was really good.

In fact there were friend rule but there were 60+ people from another countries and I asked for it in the second round but they paired me with another good battler so it was more difficult to get a random than a good battler even in the first rounds

To expand on this for you Zog, there was three rounds to get into a finalist lounge of 20 players, which made after each match a strong percentage chance of playing a respected player from a different country every time.

Paris (pretty much the european qualifier that every country can get to) was not easy and because the skill level was so high it made hax matter much much more.

It wasn't that there wasn't friend rule zog, but the main woman doing the pairings seemed really angry when people called it. I friend ruled drug_duck round one, and she was livid. I did see Will and "Davina" aka Ally allowing it later.

They do need an official stance on it I think, like it's fair game before finalists lounge, and not after. Noone wants to play someone who has seen your team, early on.

Hehe it was nice to see you again and i love mixing spanish and english ^^
It's necessary to hax you because we have very few frenchies who reached the final :p (just kidding of course)
Well, hope you appreciated Paris, and see you in Madrid

PS : France is the only country without BurgerKing, Shaaaame!
