Ladies and gentlemen, the Duke Nukem Forever of Circus Maximus has finally arrived. Welcome to a competition that will pit friend against friend, brother against brother, scumbuddy against scumbuddy. Welcome to the first ever collaboration between the two most prolific mafia hosts of the past half-decade. Welcome to a veritable cesspool of memes, references to source material that only Walrein understands, and really bad Whose Line jokes.

Welcome... to Wayne Bradiest Mafia. It's big. It's anonymous. It's a free-for-all. And it's more Wayne Brady than anything you've ever seen.

If you're new/new-ish to Smogon Mafia, please read this!

Wayne Bradiest Mafia is the third in a series of games that I've created which all have similar mechanics. These mechanics, while similar to ordinary games of Mafia that we play around these parts, are different in some very important ways, and thus I highly recommend that you read the following set of rules.

Format
This is a free-for-all game. There are no teams.

The Forums
Despite being a Smogon game, the bulk of this game will not take place on the Smogon forum. Each player will receive a PM on Smogon with the username and password to an account on an anonymous forum, where all of the game's updates and voting (more on that later) will occur. It will not be announced which players are in control of which accounts, henceforth referred to as aliases.

Cycles
This game will take place in turns called Cycles. Each Cycle will consist of each player having the opportunity to cast a lynch vote, use an ability, and attack another player. Cycles will generally be 48 hours long, though note that I will always state when the next cycle is scheduled to end.

The Lynch
Each cycle, each user will have the opportunity to vote for one alias they'd like lynched. To vote, make a post containing the bolded phrase "vote <alias>" or "lynch <alias>" in the thread for that cycle. At the end of the cycle, whichever alias has the most votes in their favor will lose half of their maximum HP (more on that in a bit). Note that some player's votes may be worth more than others. There may be abilities in this game which interact with players' votes or with the lynch itself.

Roles
Each player will receive a PM on the anonymous forum containing their role. A role will look something like this:
"Dear <Alias>,
You are <Role Name>.

<Flavor text. This will usually be 2-3 sentences.>

<Ability, and how to use it. Note that some abilities are passive, and that some roles have more than one ability.>

Max HP: <#>
Attack: <#>

You win if you outlive <Role Name 1>, <Role Name 2>, <Role Name 3>, and at least 3 out of the following 6: <Role Name 4>, <Role Name 5>, <Role Name 6>, <Role Name 7>, <Role Name 8>, and <Role Name 9>."

You may not quote any part of your role verbatim except for your Role Name, HP, and Attack.

Abilities
Each role has at least one ability. Some of these are passive, whereas some require the targeting of another alias. In general, targeted abilities are used by sending the hosts a PM with some variation of the following formatting: "Cycle <#>: Target <Alias>". You may choose to not use a targeted ability by sending a PM with "Cycle <#>: Idle". Passive abilities are always on, no PM required, and cannot be disabled.

HP and Attack
In addition to abilities, each player will be able to attack one other alias each cycle. Doing so simply requires sending a PM to the hosts with "Cycle <#>: Attack <Alias>". You may choose to idle your attack. Attacking an alias reduces their HP by an amount equal to your Attack stat. When you run out of HP, you are dead. You can no longer talk to other players about the game, post in the lynch, or use abilities or attacks. In addition, dying means you have lost - dead players cannot win. I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of any sort of resurrection mechanic in this game. There may be roles that cause players to regain health. Players cannot be healed above their maximum HP.

Results
At the beginning of each new cycle, you will receive a PM detailing any results you may have received from the previous cycle. Results may include, but are not limited to, the failing of your action or the blocking of your attack. If all of your targeted moves succeeded and nothing noteworthy happened to you, you will not receive a result. I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of roles that may cause dishonesty in player's results.

Winning
Each player has 9 other Role Names listed in the bottom sentence of their role (henceforth referred to as the win condition). The first 3 names in your win condition are players you must outlive in order to win. The next 6 names are a pool of sorts - out of those six users, you must outlive at least 3. Once you have done that, you've won, and will be removed from the game. More than one player can win. Win conditions are mutual, meaning that anyone you need dead also needs you dead, and anyone in your pool of 6 has you in their pool of 6.

Enemy Check
In addition to everything in their role, every player also has access to an ability called an Enemy Check. Each cycle, you may target an alias. You will learn whether this alias is in your pool of 3, your pool of 6, or not in your win condition at all. There may be some abilities in this game which interact with Enemy Checks. I can neither confirm nor deny that all enemy checks are 100% honest.

Communicating With Others

While you are alive, the only methods of communication which are disallowed are those covered in the Circus Maximus rules - namely, screenshotting or screen sharing. All other methods of communication are allowed. While you are dead, you may not talk about the game to anyone.

Priority
The term "priority" refers to the order in which actions occur. This has been predetermined beforehand, and will not change. The lynch has the highest priority in the game and occurs before all abilities unless otherwise stated by the ability itself. Other than that, priority will not be revealed to players unless specifically stated by abilities. There may be abilities which interact with priority.

Other
All global Smogon and Circus Maximus rules apply. The hosts reserve the right to punish anything they consider to be cheating or unfair play, regardless of whether it's covered in these rules. The hosts also reserve the right to force-sub any player they feel is not meeting an acceptable level of activity - note, however, that no forcible substitutions will occur due to poor play. Above all else, have fun and don't be a dick. It's a game, guys.

Alright oldies, you can stop skimming now.

The following things are changes from the previous Wayne Brady games' format and are important enough that I'm not putting them in hide tags.

1. Being lynched now causes players to take damage equal to half their max HP, rather than killing them
2. Players now have 3 users they must outlive and a pool of 6 users out of which they must outlive 3
3. Each player has access to an ability called an Enemy Check. Each cycle, you may target an alias. You will learn whether this alias is in your pool of 3, your pool of 6, or not mentioned in your role PM at all.

I'll be linking the anonymous forum when the game starts. I'd like to encourage everyone to use the Circus Maximus room on Pokemon Showdown for real-time communication. If you really want an IRC channel, you can use #circus on the synIRC network cause I don't feel like making another one.

Sign up by posting "in" in this thread. Additionally, after you sign up, you may send me and Yeti a PM with a role request. You may request to be any of the following:

a good early role vs. a good late role

an ability-focused role vs. a stats-focused role

a role that interacts with the lynch vs. a role that does not

an offensive role vs. a defensive role

There will be 36 players in this game. The playerlist will be handpicked, with the most active and interested users having a much higher chance of getting in. Making appearances on IRC or in the PS room is the best way to show your interest.

Signups will close in approximately 48 hours.
