Welcome to Sun and Moon Monotype! Monotype will be running this tournament to kick off competitive seventh generation play. To that end, you'll not just be building on your own. This tournament will be played in teams of five to encourage teambuilding!

Rules of the tour:

  • Games are Monotype.
  • Games are to be played in the Monotype format.
  • There will be eight teams in the playoffs.
  • Teams are to have five players.
  • Teams will battle 5v5. Individual battles are to be bo1. The first team to win three games will win the set. Battles don't need to be played contiguously, so don't worry about scheduling a time in which 10 people can be around.
  • Matches must be played on the main Smogon server or the smogtours on Pokemon Showdown. Matches played on other servers will not be accepted and you will need to either play again or risk a coinflip.
  • Because this tournament is about experiencing and expanding the SuMo Monotype metagame, all replays must be saved. If replays cannot be found of your set, you will need to either play again or risk a coinflip.
  • Regarding activity, please don't do this to me or your teammates. Please just schedule and get your matches done. Hold each other accountable. I won't be giving out extensions except in extremely necessary cases. If I need to do an activity call and one of the players does not have a Smogon account, I will be awarding the win to the other player by default.
  • Let's have some sportsmanship please. We all want to win, but there's no reason to be rude and demeaning each other. Light-hearted shit talk is OK in moderation, but please use good judgment on when the line is being crossed.
Standard Monotype Rules:

  • Baton Pass Clause: Limit one Baton Passer, can't pass Spe and other stats simultaneously
  • Swagger Clause: Swagger is banned
  • Same Type Clause: Pokémon in a team must share a type (Reminder: this tour will play with the SuMo Same Type Clause, which prohibits the usage of a Mega Evolution that loses the team's type.)
  • Sleep Clause Mod: Limit one foe put to sleep
  • Species Clause: Limit one of each Pokémon
  • OHKO Clause: OHKO moves are banned
  • Moody Clause: Moody is banned
  • Evasion Moves Clause: Evasion moves are banned
  • Endless Battle Clause: Forcing endless battles is banned
  • HP Percentage Mod: HP is shown in percentages

  • For the playoffs, it will be a standard single elimination bracket of 8.

Maskun529 vs. Sae Sae - Sometimes maskun makes really good plays, sometimes idgi and I'm not a huge fan of sae builds + he still might be rusty.
Ishtaria vs. Bondie - Ishtaria's decent but Bondie's more consistent
Not Zer0 vs. scpinion - zero might win if he takes it seriously, but scp's more solid overall and is probably gonna win
xRoy vs. Anttya - Ant's probably rusty, but could go either way

1) Blacklisteds by Alliance
Reason: With the retirement of uncle stunfisk the great, this group will increase their pokemon IQ's by 20 for the sole purpose of vengeance against the monotype community.
Prediction: They hax every team to win the tour, sparking Stun to come out of retirement.
2) Real Nigga Business
Reason: Shoutouts Rosa Parks.
Prediction: Make it to the finals but the lack of historical black knowledge from Blacklisteds by Alliance will make them less sympathetic. Brutally haxed out of the win.
3) Team Ass Players + Zer0
Reason: Boasting a flawless preliminary stage record, this group consists of monotype powerhouses such as porn historian Ishtaria and the 529th Maskun
Prediction: They make it to the semis but then their playmaking turns
4) GoD Squad
Reason:
Despite going 9-1 with 2 players alone, the group has been plagued recently with severe hax and misfortune. If they think they'll make it out of semis, they're in Denial.
Prediction: Ice beam freezes in every game.
5) The Alliance Boys
Reason: Despite dominating their bracket, this group lost to a group of free agents.
Prediction: Dethroner finds out they're using his copyrighted name and takes them to court. They lose to activity.
6) WishiWash'd-Up Room Staff
Reason: Like their puns, this team isn't as good as they think they are.
Prediction: Distraught over causing a former staff member to quit, the group's mindset is shaken and they can't play normally.
7) Mono auth/woa are corrupt
Reason: They say you're only as strong as your weakest link....
Prediction: The group undergoes inner turmoil leading to Zarif's purge from WoA.
8) Duck
Reason: Unfortunately, with the loss of their best player in Dusk Raimon whom was undefeated, this team lacks the firepower to get a back to back team tournament championship
Prediction: They get caught being ghosted by Raimon and get dq'd.

And that's a wrap on Team Ass Players + Zer0. I had a great time in the tournament and did way better than I thought I would. I would never have predicted going 5-0 both personally and with my team in the group phase and I'm glad I made it to the playoffs after not playing seriously since XY. Big shoutouts to my opponents for the great battles, especially scpinion and TheAveng92R for my real nail biters. Good luck to everyone else.
