Monotype Winds of the North (a Mono Ice Team, peaked #11)

Hello all, Rimefang here. Today I would like to share an Ice team i have been using for a long time. It has gone through many changes, trying to cover as much of the meta as possible. After a lot of work and practice, I have taken this team all the way to a peak of 1713, which to me is insane as Ice is arguably one of the worse types defensively and in the meta. Without further ado, lets dive in.

Every team needs a hazard setter of some sort. Aurorus fulfills this role with Stealth Rocks as well as being a Hail setter. He also has a usable Special Attack stat, a perfectly accurate Blizzard in Hail, and a variety of coverage and utility options. He is also bulky on the Special side, able to take neutral attacks fairly well.

Aurora Veil is one of the best Ice type moves in the game. Combining Reflect and Light Screen into one move is incredible, especially for a type with only one resistance. However, it needs Hail to be used, so i chose Ninetales-Alola for this purpose. She is fast, has decent stab attacks in Moonblast and Freeze-Dry, access to Encore to trap mons into a move, and of course Aurora Veil. I will be addressing her as Rimetales from now on to shorten it a bit.

Were running Hail, so we need our Hail abuser. Sandslash-Alola is a fast sweeper with good dual stab moves and Earthquake for coverage. He also has access to Rapid Spin which is crucial for hazard control. I will be addressing him as Rimeslash from here on to shorten it a bit.

The team is still a bit slow without Hail, so I've added my old friend Weavile into the fray. Base 125 Speed is very fast unboosted, and she has powerful stab attacks along with Ice Shard for priority and Pursuit to trap dangerous mons.

We still need a Scizor check, so I added Cloyster. He has a incredible base 180 Defense, and an amazing set up move in Shell Smash, turning him into a deadly sweeper.

Lastly, we need our dedicated wallbreaker. Kyurem-Black is Ice's best wallbreaker available. Ice Beam with Fusion Bolt creates the Bolt-Beam combo which, when combined with Earth Power and Hidden Power Fire, means very few things will come in unscathed.

Whiteout (Aurorus) (M) @ Focus Sash

Ability: Snow Warning
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 124 SpD / 132 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Ancient Power
- Hidden Power Fire
- Stealth Rock

Aurorus is one of my favorite mons, and I have used him for a very long time. He is my go to lead 99% of the time. Snow Warning is for auto Hail, and to fire off perfectly accurate Blizzards. The chip damage is also nice to cancel out Leftovers or Black Sludge. Ancient Power is for stab, and occasionally gives a boost to all his stats. It also demolishes Charizard-Y leads and can 2HKO Volcorona even at +1. Hidden Power Fire is for Scizor leads, and can 1-2HKO every variant. It is also strong vs Forretress and Ferrothorn who are difficult mons to take down as Mono Ice. Stealth Rocks are mandatory, dealing chip damage to most mons especially vs Bug, Fire, Flying, mirror Ice, etc. A Focus Sash helps ensure he will either put down Stealth Rocks or fire off an attack. This spread has just enough Speed to outspeed Skarmory's with 16 Speed EVs. Max Special Attack to hit as hard as possible, with the rest going into Special Defense, letting him check things like Scarf +1 Blacephalon. Modest was chosen to guarantee the OHKO on Charizard-Y with Ancient Power and for more damage overall, as even with Timid and max Speed investment he is not that fast. Another option over Ancient Power is Earth Power to hit Fire and Steel mons like Heatran or Infernape. Other options are Thunder Wave to slow down Scarfed mons or Encore to trap set up and hazard mons.

Rimetales (Ninetales-Alola) (F) @ Light Clay

Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Freeze-Dry
- Encore
- Aurora Veil

My primary support mon, Snow Warning is for auto Hail, which is useful for Rimeslash and setting up the Veil. Moonblast is for stab, and hits Tyranitar out of Sand hard along with Mega-Sableye who is a difficult wall to break otherwise. It is also very useful for the dreaded Fighting match up. Freeze-Dry OHKOs many Swift Swim abusers out of Rain as well as Pelipper. It is also decent vs Toxapex and as a secondary stab. Encore is to trap set up or hazard mons, forcing switches. Lastly, Aurora Veil is to help the team tank hits better. Light Clay was chosen to keep the Veil up for as long as possible. Max Special Attack and Speed to hit hard and fast. Timid was chosen to keep her excellent Speed tier. Blizzard can be used over Freeze-Dry, but Swift Swim Rain will become much more difficult to beat without it, and even with two Hail setters, Hail is not up all the time, making it unreliable. Another option is Nasty Plot to help wallbreak, but is really only effective vs Toxapex and Mega-Sableye who can still be beaten otherwise by this team.

Rimeslash (Sandslash-Alola) (M) @ Life Orb

Ability: Slush Rush
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin

Rimeslash is my sweeper as well as a revenge killer in Hail thanks to Slush Rush. Icicle Crash and Iron Head are for stabs with a chance to flinch. Earthquake is for coverage. Rapid Spin is to remove hazards, with his Steel typing helping him in this regard. A Life Orb is mandatory since were not using Swords Dance, as his Attack will be very underwhelming otherwise. Under Hail he is very fast, only outsped by a few Choice Scarf mons and Raichu-Alola in Electric Terrain. Max Attack and Speed allow him to hit hard and fast. The last 4 are put in Defense for an odd HP number to come in on Stealth Rocks more to spin or sweep. Jolly is mandatory to outspeed things like Scarf Victini. Use him early game to bait in checks and counters with Hail up, then double out to the appropriate mon to weaken or remove them for him to sweep later. Swords Dance may be used over Rapid Spin, but Rimeslash has a lot of weaknesses, and has trouble finding safe set up opportunities even vs walls such as Clefable. The team would also need a another hazard remover as it is crucial as Ice.

Midnight (Weavile) (F) @ Life Orb

Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit

My main revenge killer and cleaner. Pressure is chosen over Pickpocket to avoid picking up unhelpful items and to stall out PP. Icicle Crash is for stab while Knock Off does damage and removes items. Ice Shard is crucial for priority to check weakened threats like Breloom, while Pursuit can damage mons on the switch or KO them outright. A Life Orb helps do as much damage as possible while still not being choice locked. Max Attack and Speed are to hit hard and fast. Jolly was chosen to keep her amazing Speed tier, but Adamant is another option for a bit more power if you wanna try it. Another fun option is Swords Dance, but finding a chance to set up is incredibly difficult even with Aurora Veil, and dropping one of these four moves will come back to haunt you more often than not.

Damage on the Switch:

Shellshocked (Cloyster) (M) @ Waterium Z

Ability: Skill Link
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 64 Atk / 192 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Surf
- Icicle Spear
- Hidden Power Fire
- Shell Smash

Cloyster is my late game sweeper and more often then not the main win condition. Skill Link was chosen to ensure Icicle Spear hits 5 times every time making it a powerful and consistent stab. He uses a mixed set, taking advantage of Shell Smash boosting his Attack, Special Attack and Speed. After a boost he outspeeds many problematic Scarf mons for this team up to base 110+. Surf is his first stab and chosen for consistency. Icicle Spear is my strongest Ice move thanks to Skill Link and can break Sashes. Hidden Power Fire was put on to help "soft" check Scizors and not get counter swept by Ditto in the Normal match up. Waterium Z is to use Hydro Vortex, letting him beat potential checks or even weakened counters. The EV spread ensures at +2 he can OHKO standard Specially Defensive Scizor after Stealth Rock with Hidden Power Fire, letting me save the Z move for something like Celesteela or Jirachi. Naive was chosen as Cloyster's Special Defense is already horrendous, even with Veil up. The extra Speed is also crucial to beat things like Scarf Blacephalon and Terrakion, who are massive threats to Ice. Hydro Pump is another option for a more powerful Z move, but I have found most of the time I don't need it. Rock Blast can also be used over Hidden Power Fire to help beat things like Araquanid, Mega Sharpedo, and Volcanion more easily. However, overall I have found Rock Blast is not needed with this team and Hidden Power Fire is very handy to check Scizor after it has used Sword Dance even if you haven't Shell Smashed.

With Z Surf:

Frostbite (Kyurem-Black) @ Expert Belt

Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power Fire

The beast himself, Kyurem-Black. He serves as my main wallbreaker. Teravolt is his only ability, but is very powerful vs mons like the Rotoms and Mega-Venasuar, negating their abilities. Ice Beam is for stab and especially Mega-Venasuar. Fusion Bolt is for Mantine, Empoleon, and Celesteela. Earth Power is mostly for Heatran and Rotom-Wash, but can also be useful vs Infernape, Bisharp, etc. Hidden Power Fire was added to help with Scizor and Ferrothorn since I feel this set doesn't need Roost. I chose an Expert Belt over a Life Orb since I still get 2HKOs vs walls he can beat and don't need Roost to heal off recoil. It also allows me to potentially bluff a Choice set. Max Special Attack and Speed are for him to hit as hard and fast as he can, with the last 4 points in Attack for Fusion Bolt. I chose Naive to keep his decent Speed tier and his impressive physical bulk intact.

Fashionable Froslass

Froslass (F) @ Choice Specs/Choice Scarf
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic/Thunderbolt
- Switcheroo

This is something I used probably over a year ago. This drops Froslass' typical hazard set in favor of more power or speed. This set requires a wall (or two preferably) and a different hazard setter to work at it's best. Ice Beam and Shadow Ball are your stabs, and Psychic and Thunderbolt are for coverage. Psychic is great vs Fighting and is my recommendation thanks to her typing, while Thunderbolt is decent vs Water after Swampert is gone. Switcheroo is to cripple walls or offensive mons using a set up move like Swords Dance if the extra power or speed is not needed. This set can catch your opponent off guard, as most Froslasses' are hazard setters/suicide leads.

Timid Nature

- Stealth Rock

My Aurorus set but a bit more standard. Max Special Attack to hit everything hard and max Speed with Timid to outspeed whatever he can. Blizzard is for stab and has perfect accuracy with Snow Warning. Ancient Power is a second stab with a possible boost to all stats after using it though the chance is very low. I put it on mainly for Charizard-Y who is a strong Flying lead vs any Ice team, as well as Volcorona. Earth Power is for coverage, and Stealth Rocks for chip damage. You could also drop Ancient Power or Earth Power for Hidden Power Fire for Scizor and Ferrothorn who are a pain as Mono Ice.

Shadow Walker

Weavile @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick/Poison Jab/Pursuit

A rather unorthodox set, Scarf Weavile is one of the fastest mons in the meta, out speeding even Scarf Greninja and a +2 positive nature Cloyster. This set is decent vs opposing Scarf mons especially Gengar and Blacephalon, who are both OHKOed by Knock Off with their Scarf intact. Even if Weavile fails to knock out the opposing Scarf mon, she can at least remove it's Scarf and allow something else like Rimeslash to revenge kill it with it's speed control gone. This set works better with walls such as Avalugg and Piloswine so you have something to switch to after she's done her job. A Jolly nature is required to outspeed positive nature Scarfed Gengar, Greninja and Cloyster at +2. Icicle Crash is recommended here as she needs all the power she can get. Knock Off is for stab and utility, and is often her best move. Ice Shard is for priority vs other priority mons like Breloom and Infernape if they are in KO range for Ice Shard. Low Kick hits Tyranitar and Heatran hard, while Poison Jab is nice for Fairy mons. Pursuit is another option, but is very weak if they don't swap. It also misses many OHKOs you'd normally get with a Life Orb on the switch.

Bullet Proof Kyurem-Black

Kyurem-Black @ Assault Vest
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Fire]/Outrage/Iron Head

This was something I tried a a few months ago. The idea is tank hits from the likes of Tapu Koko and Mega-Diancie and KO with whatever move works best. Stealth Rocks and a Mild nature are needed to secure some OHKOs. The Assault Vest helps tank hits and gives freedom to switch moves while also potentially bluffing a Choice item. The last move slot is up to personal preference. Hidden Power Fire is great for Scizor and Ferrothorn, Outrage hits many offensive mons very hard even without max investment, and Iron Head is great vs Fairies like Mega-Diancie. This set works best with Aurora Veil active otherwise Kyurem-Black will be unable to switch in hard on powerful Special Attackers like Mega-Diancie. Hasty is another option if you want to max out your Speed in exchange for a bit of Defense.

The Storm is Coming

Glaceon @ Normalium Z
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power Fire/Hidden Power Ground
- Celebrate

I still use this sometimes on my alt account because I love Glaceon, she is my favorite mon of all time. Sadly she is not that good. The lack of good coverage moves really hurts and she is very slow (hoping Game Freak gives her Slush Rush in the next gen). However, Z Celebrate is fun to try as a surprise set up sweeper. She is also quite tanky after boosting with Aurora Veil. Ice Beam is for stab, Shadow Ball is your only notable coverage attack and then your choice of a Hidden Power. Celebrate is for the Z move. You have to use Snow Cloak to use this set due to the event Eevee's not having their Hidden Ability, though in my opinion it is stronger if you get lucky since the recovery of Ice Body is negligible thanks to a lack of resistances. You could drop Hidden Power for Blizzard, but without Icy Rock, it is unreliable as Hail only lasts 5 turns. The choice of what Hidden Power to use is down to preference. Hidden Power Fire is deadly vs Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Forretress all who are hard to take down otherwise as Ice, while Hidden Power Ground is great vs Nihilego, Heatran (after Air Balloon) and for offensive Fire, Electric and Poison mons that resist Ice Beam like Infernape, Volcanion, Magnezone and Salazzle. A bulkier spread could also be used with Veil support, but I have found max Speed to be better as this is meant to sweep late game. Lastly, remember that Ice Beam hits harder neutrally than a super effective x2 Hidden Power, so only use it for mons that resist Ice Beam or take x4 from Fire or Ground attacks.
Back to this again! What isn't threatening to Mono Ice is the real question. Lets get into it.

Scarf Mons

Scarf Blacephalon, Infernape, Terrakion, Keldeo, Gengar, Greninja, and the incredibly rare Weavile, Tapu Koko and Zeraora all outspeed Rimeslash even under Hail and have at least one move that can either OHKO or 2HKO with the appropriate move and must be played around carefully. Kyurem-Black is a good check to all these Scarf mons with Veil Support (or without depending on what move it is locked into). Cloyster at +2 outspeeds every Scarf mon in the game up to base 110 Speed but must beware of priority attacks or bulky walls. At +4 (assuming you can set up again which is insanely difficult) Cloyster outspeeds every Scarf mon and even Timid Raichu-Alola in Electric Terrain.

Opposing Weather

Pelipper, Politoed, Hippowdon, Tyranitar, Mega-Tyranitar, Torkoal, and Charizard-Y can all overwrite Rimetales' Hail and stop Veil set ups. Rimetales can beat Pelipper and Politoed reliably with Freeze-Dry, but the others are much more difficult. Hippowdon has a chance to live 3 Freeze-Dry's and can set up Rocks or 2HKO with Earthquake. Torkoal is a massive counter as her set has no coverage for Fire types and Lava Plume 2HKOs with or without the Sun. Tyranitar is another powerful counter, tanking Moonblasts with ease thanks to Sand buffing it's Special Defense.. Even offensive variants of Tyranitar are only 3HKO by Moonblast and can OHKO her easily with Rock Slide. Also, if it is a Mega, it can wait for Rimetales to come in, then Mega-Evolve, overwriting Hail again. Aurorus can only reliably beat Torkoal and non max Speed Pelipper. He can also beat Charizard-Y with his Sash intact. You can try to hit Hippowdon in Sand with Blizzard as it will OHKO, but the accuracy is very shaky.

Metal Buggos

If your fighting a Scizor, brace for an auto loss. This bug is arguable THE most dangerous mon vs ANY mono Ice team. It has only one weakness in Fire, and Ice's best legal Fire move is Hidden Power on this team. Try to get the Veil up before it can come in, and keep Kyurem-Black healthy to blast it with a Hidden Power. Cloyster is another option if it can set up, or if it has already been weakened and in KO range of Hidden Power Fire. Behind the Veil Cloyster is safe to boost up against Scizor, but beware of Superpower, as Cloyster does outspeed Adamant Scizors and will take massive damage from it.

Jellyfishing, Jellyfishing, Jellyfishing!

The Rock mon Nihilego is quite fast with a Scarf. I wanted to put this with the other Scarf mons, but Rimeslash does speed tie if it is running this set. He can also possibly check it even at +1 even if he loses the speed tie and OHKO with Earthquake. Try to keep hazards and the Veil to help tank it's hits and put it in Ice Shard or Pursuit range for Weavile. This is a difficult mon to take down since Poison has strong walls to pivot to that Rimeslash cannot beat reliably without Swords Dance.

Mushrooms with Boxer Gloves

Not as dangerous as Scizor, but Breloom is a threat in it's own right. It usually has a Focus Sash and has access to Spore. Weavile is our best check but Breloom needs to have prior chip damage before Ice Shard OHKOs. Rimetales and Kyurem-Black can also check it with Freeze-Dry and Ice Beam respectively.

Rocket Birb

The monster of flying, Celesteela will 6-0 you if you play carelessly. Try to get the Veil up before taking it on. Have Cloyster set up behind the Veil and blast it with a Z Surf (try to bait out Protect if you can, but if your in KO range just do it). Afterwards I normally let Kyurem-Black take it down if Cloyster gets KOed. The psychically defensive variants are the most dangerous, as the teams best move against it are Fusion Bolt and Surf. Also beware of the rare Automize set, as they often carry Flash Cannon and Flamethrower, and the only things that outspeed it after it sets up are Cloyster at +2 and Rimeslash under Hail.

A certain Shellboi

Fighting opposing Cloysters is hell, you cannot let this thing in freely. If it has Rock Blast and a + Speed nature, you WILL be swept at +2. Keep Stealth Rocks up as much as possible, and try to keep a Special Attacker in to KO it before it sets up. Your own Cloyster is a good win con vs Ice and can KO it even without Rock Blast after some chip at +2 with Surf. Rimetales can do the same vs Ice with Moonblast, usually KOing even from full, and Freeze-Dry vs Water with Stealth Rock chip. Moonblast is generally the safer option. Life Orb Shard can do another 8% from Weavile to help finish it off if needed.

Update: #1: I swapped to Roost over Hidden Power Fire with Kyurem-Black, as Toxapex has proven to be a real pain for this team. This let's you win the recover war 1v1, bar Toxic variants. Though if you get burned by Scald you'll be fine. Also in retrospect, I think 3 Hidden Power Fire mons is a bit much. Kyurem-Black also needs Veil to beat Scizor after it sets up.

Update #2: I have switched Icicle Crash to Brick Break on Weavile, as I have found I don't click it very much compared to her other attacks. Brick Break has helped immensely vs Screens, making the Fairy and Psychic match ups much less of a struggle from the word "Go". I'd only recommend using this set if you are very experienced with Ice as at times it is very awkward not having Icicle Crash with Weavile.

Update #3: I've gone to back standard Weavile with Icicle Crash after trying Brick Break and Swords Dance. Icicle Crash is much more consistent then the other two and gives her some much needed immediate firepower. I've also been using Pickpocket over Pressure since Curse Muk is on the rise and Pressure rarely does anything remotely useful and stopping Knock Off spam is nice. I also changed Aurorus's EV spread to beat 16 speed EVs Venusuar and Mandibuzz while still dodging the OHKO after Steal Rocks from +1 Scarf Blacephalon. This helps chip Mega-Venusuar down and OHKO Mandibuzz before it can defog.

I had to drop a bit more Special Defense then I'd like for the speed but this is still very good odds. I'd run Timid but you will miss out on OHKOs vs Blacephalon and Charizard-Y.

Update #4: I have stopped using Light Clay Rimetales in favor of a Choice Scarf set. Rimetales has just the right amount of speed to really take advantage of this item, out speeding a very large portion of the Scarf mons in the meta as well as some weather sweepers (assuming Adamant, Modest, etc.) in their own weather. The extra speed lets me damage or even KO normally faster mons, throw down suicide Veils for set ups or just support, and of course:

Grudge

Grudge is the icing on the cake vs opposing Scarf mons, or even non choiced like Close Combat Gallade if your read is on point. This removes their (probably) best stab and forces a swap or a different and (hopefully) weaker attack. You will lose Rimetales in the process but this has gotten me MANY surprise Pursuit traps and Closyter sweeps. In light of this I've changed my Aurorus EVs to max Special Attack and Speed with Modest, as I have a more reliable scarf Blacephalon answer now. I will post both sets in detail below along with some replays of Scarf Grudge Rimetales in action. Since changing the set I have noticed many match ups even vs for example Normal or Ghost balance are much easier thanks to the extra speed to fight off fast threats like Mega Lopunny or Scarf Blacephalon, and my win rates vs opposing offensive teams has skyrocketed, as I'm no longer super reliant on Veil or +2 Cloyster to help check dangerous Scarf mons. I do miss the flexibility of switching moves and sometimes Encore, but the speed is amazing for this team, and a lot of people seem to predict Encore anyway when I've tried it. Light Clay is still a good item for this team (or any Ice team of course) if you want those extra turns of defense and more flexibility though.
Also new Elo peak hype:

Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Freeze-Dry
- Aurora Veil/Blizzard
- Grudge

The main purpose of this set is to Grudge a Scarf mon (Terrakion for example) and get a free turn for either Weavile or Cloyster (Pursuit and or Shell Smash, usually the latter) or something else. Grudge will remove all their PP for that move forcing a swap if their choiced, or to hurt themselves with Struggle. This CAN work vs non choiced mons like Close Combat Gallade, but if you give it away and they hit something else, you'll be stuck with Grudge, so be careful. Moonblast and Freeze Dry are still your go to stabs and are mandatory for this set I feel. The third slot is a toss up between Blizzard and Aurora Veil. Blizzard can serve as a more powerful late game sweeper, while Veil can help set up Cloyster or to tank hits. However, Scarf Veil leaves you locked into it if you survive the attack which is easy to take advantage of, so use it carefully or on a predicted Knock Off. Encore is another option, but many set up mons have a Z move to ignore 1 turn of it and possibly KO something, or it's a bit of a momentum sink vs stuff like Toxapex. You can tweak the IVs or Nature to guarantee a KO vs certain moves without Veil (I once lived a Scarf Blue Flare from Victini, which is a 87% roll apparently) but I wouldn't recommend it. I have tried this to help with suicide Veils but sometimes you wanna swap Rimetales in hard, which is borderline impossible with 0/0/0 IVs in HP, Def, SpD and a bad nature for it. Side note, this set can do work vs the dreaded Fighting match up, but most of the mons need a SpD drop or be below around 70-80% before it KOs. Cobalion needs more chip but it's usually the first to drop anyway in my experience. Finally, make sure you know how much damage a move does to Rimetales (Terrakion is a good example, as Close Combat is a 2HKO with Scarf before Stealth Rocks) as you don't wanna give anything away too early and create a 50/50 scenario.

Some replays showcasing Scarf Rimetales in action:

This was posted in the Mono Discord, vs Rock with Scarf Terrakion, Grudge gives Cloyster a free set up and end game sweep, this was very early on trying this set out:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-884684368

Vs balance Normal, Rimetales lures Mega-Lopunny and removes it turn 2, easing the match up significantly:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-901099544

Vs Sticky Web Fairy, absolutely HORRIBLE start on my part, but Scarf Veil vs Koko helps Kyurem turn the tide in our favor:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-901332916

Vs Reuniclus Psychic, a hard swap and read on Drain Punch Gallade to Grudge lets Cloyster set up safely vs Zen Headbutt and take the game:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-888486262

Vs Electric, a surprise Grudge on Banded Zeraora and a hard read on Tapu Koko swapping out lets Cloyster hit +4 speed and sweep Electric:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-901331506

Vs Steel, Aurorus eliminates Mega-Scizor with Sash Hidden Power Fire, leaving only Bisharp as a priority attacker. Rimetales Grudges Excadrill's Iron Head, and you know what happens next by now:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-906973683

Vs Fire, a quick suicide Veil helps Cloyster set up and sweep. Moltres (somehow) lived +2 Icicle Spear, but Weavile and Rimeslash come in later to finish the fight:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-903652152

Vs Bug and Scarf Buzzwole, drop some Stealth Rocks, hard swap to Rimetales and Grudge that accursed move. Cloyster goes on a rampage after:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-901329005

Vs Rock, Scarf Rimetales cleans up and takes the W:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-904164183

Another Rocky replay, this one was a tough fight. Toward the end I realized while Rimeslash COULD sweep, Terrakion was likely Scarfed, and Rhyperior checks him. Seeing this, I decided to leave Rimeslash in on Terrakion to check my theory. Seeing it was Scarf, I knew I could use Grudge for Cloyster to set up and win. However, Rimetales was still at full HP, and there were no Rocks on my side. Wanting to keep my intent hidden as long as possible, i deliberately went Cloyster first then hard swap Rimetales, getting the right amount of chip to guarantee Grudge's success and taking the W with Cloyster:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-916454080

Vs Fighting, Rimetales taking the spotlight here. This match up can be very easy with this set once everything is in range of Moonblast, as Fighting's Scarf mon is normally Terrakion, and rarely do I see Bullet Punch on Fighting. Rimetales also takes unboosted Mach Punches decently:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-918171727

Vs Rock again, using a set i'll sometimes pull out for the lols, Swords Dance Weavile. I definitely misplayed turn 1 but managed to bring it back with Grudge Rimetales vs Scarf Nihilego, letting Weavile Swords Dance safely:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-920624706

You know what i'm gonna say here right? Grudge Scarf Blacephalon to Cloyster set-HA! Just kidding, Weavile pursuit traps Blacephalon, helping Kyurem-Black sweep later on vs Fire.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-905338164

These are the best replays I could find showing how the set works. I may add some more if I get some. Hopefully you enjoyed the fights!

One final thing to remember with this if successful vs a choice mon is Struggle can still do some damage. And vs things like Scarf Buzzwole, Excadrill, etc. Struggle will do more damage (it is considered a Physical type move). It also benefits from + Attack boosts (Buzzwole is a perfect example.)

See a example calc below, assuming Buzzwole KOed for example Weavile and Rimetales after the Grudge vs Cloyster:

Before +2:

252 Atk Buzzwole Struggle vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Cloyster: 34-41 (14.1 - 17%) -- possible 6HKO

After +2:

+2 252 Atk Buzzwole Struggle vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Cloyster: 68-81 (28.2 - 33.6%) -- 0.2% chance to 3HKO

Then compare it to something like Nihilego:

0- Atk Nihilego Struggle vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Cloyster: 12-15 (4.9 - 6.2%) -- possibly the worst move ever

The damage is negligible but use caution if your revenge killer/sweeper/whatever is very low.
You can calculate Struggle damage, but you need to put it on manually for the mon in the move slot.

And now for my old friends new EV spread, nothing crazy though. Just max Special Attack and Speed, with the last 4 in Special Defense, keeping Modest for maximum damage and one-shotting Charizard-Y reliably with Ancient Power. See above for more info on my move and item choices. A final side note, Rock Slide with a Mild nature is a viable alternative over Ancient Power to help beat +1 Volcarona, however it has a small chance to miss, and it's a 50/50 vs Charizard-Y. Seeing as i'm relying on my Sash to do the job, I've chosen to stick with Ancient Power, as I despise missing "90%" accurate attacks (which happens ALOT with what I now fondly call "Icicle Miss" aka Icicle Crash) and it still OHKOs both before boosts.

Update #5: Probably the last one before Gen 8, two pretty big changes though.

First, I've started running
Scarf Jolly Rimeslash,
for even more speed vs offensive teams
and to help spin against faster Scarf mons in Hail.

Sandslash-Alola @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Slush Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 29 HP
- Icicle Crash
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
The element of surprise here is massive, especially with Scarf Rimetales (who expects two Scarf mons on one team? I don't). This also helps spin away Web vs Bug and even Rock (unless it's vs Scarf Terrakion). Rimetales/Slash synergize well offensively, chipping down each others checks and counters for the other to sweep, while Rimeslash still performs his most important role in hazard removal. This also (to a degree) lets him function out of Hail. Rimeslash now outspeeds important mons even without Hail such as Mega-Diancie, a massive threat to this team, up to Mega-Pidgeot, who ussualy has 375 speed with max investment. Fairy can be put on the back foot turn 1, either KOing the typical Diancie lead, or forcing a swap and getting much appreciated chip on something else. The same for Rock, although lead Shuckle can be a pain. This also lets Rimeslash outspeed Alola-Raichu in Hail and Electric Terrain, who this team otherwise struggles to take down (you can do this with Adamant as well, as most run Modest natures. You will not be able to outspeed Mega-Diancie without Hail however). I know this dramatically turns down Rimeslash's power, but Slash is ussualy either Spinning, claiming a Revenge Kill, or coming out fairly late game to clean, when every mon has been very chipped. Be wary however when Scarf spinning however, as a set up mon can take advantage of this easily. The same applies to spin bockers.

Second, I've started to use
Normal Modest Kyurem with Choice Specs,

as a new wallbreaker.

Kyurem @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 132 Def / 252 SpA / 124 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Blizzard
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Electric]/Earth Power
This thing is an absolute terror, obliterating even Toxapex with just a Draco Meteor and a tiny amount of chip or Stealth Rock damage. You can even 2HKO a Chansey after Eviolite is gone with Focus Blast. Draco Meteor is what you'll probably be clicking the most, though Blizzard does work as well, two-shotting or one-shotting most mons that don't resist it. Having two Hail mons helps this move as well. This is great vs Grass, as Ice can struggle vs Ferrothorn, with this set two-shotting it with Blizzard alone. Focus Blast is for Steels like Heatran, as well as Tyranitar, another big threat to this team. This one-shots even the max SpDef variant in Sand. This is also strong vs Normal, especially when Chanseys Eviolite is gone, as everything is either One or 2HKOed including Staraptor. The only real draw back is low PP and that lovely chance to miss. Finally the last slot is a toss up. I went back to Hidden Power Electric after having trouble vs certain Water mons (Azumarill, Araquanid, even a Tapu Fini). Earth Power is very solid too though for perfect coverage (inb4 Shedinja). The given EVs guarantee you live one Banded Close Combat from Zeraora before Stealth Rock, as well as just making you a bit bulkier physically. Modest is to give you the best chance at one-shotting Toxapex on the swap after Stealth Rock, and to deal as much damage as possible. Very few things can switch into this as long as you pick the right move. This does require some good reads though depending on what your facing. I may also swap back to max speed Modest, as outspeeding mons like Non Scarf Excadrill, Nidoking, etc. is helpful since you have no recovery. I think it's a matter of preference and what you want to be able to do. Kyurem-Black is still a very solid option though, and I would argue probaly better vs Water and Poison just because of the increased bulk and having Roost as long as you dodge being burned or toxiced. He does only 2HKO Toxapex though which can be annoying with Life Orb, and potentially game ending if you get badly poisoned as it spams Recover.
I've tried to organize these by the moves, from Draco Meteor to Blizzard to Focus Blast to Earth Power then Hidden Power Electric, then by how much damage they do on the mons I think are relevant here. Since this list is massive, I will color code each type.

Vs Normal:

Be careful with Ditto coming into to copy you, as this team despises eating Focus Blasts. Scarf Tales will outspeed the Ditto if it copied Kyurem however, and has a decent chance to counter it even if Focus Blast lands twice before Rocks, with Moonblast 2HKOing in return.

Focus Blast Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Staraptor: 325-383 (86.8 - 102.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Porygon2: 300-354 (80.2 - 94.6%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Chansey: 410-484 (58.3 - 68.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 274-324 (38.9 - 46%) -- 21.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Vs Fire:

I will not deny my match up vs Heatran isn't as good as it was before because Focus Blast can miss, but this can still KO through Balloon which is nice. Heatran is also in two match ups i typically lose, so I don't mind it too much. Removing Torkoal turn 1 is also a big plus, especially if its running Rocks.

Draco Meteor Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Torkoal: 463-546 (134.9 - 159.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Focus Blast Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Heatran: 408-482 (126.3 - 149.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Vs Fighting:

Well, the only 'defensive' mon i normally see is support Cobalion, who drops like a light to Focus Blast. It's faster though so it'll set up Rocks sadly. Other then that, Kyurem isn't that good here. Most Fighting mons are too fast, and they can OHKO him easily. Draco will KO Mega-Gallade if it tries to Sword Dance however. The same applies for most the other Fighting mons I can think off. Keldeo with Calm Mind deserves a mention, as it can spam Sub and CM if your locked into Draco then sweep.

Draco Meteor Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gallade-Mega: 309-364 (111.5 - 131.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Focus Blast Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Cobalion: 564-664 (146.1 - 172%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Vs Water:

The only really important one here is Toxapex, as that's Kyurem's main job to KO here for Rimetales. But this also shows how much damage he can do to offensive mons as well like Keldeo. A water team with a Fairy like Azumarill will be trickier, as you can be protect scouted or they can swap in an Electric immune mon like Swampert or Lanturn. Thankfully, Azumarill isn't seen on water much. This set should also do decently against water stall, but vs Protect scouting your Draco's will be gone quickly. However, HP Electric still does 50% to Toxapex and max SpDef Alomomola, so avoid status and you should be OK. This matchup is very rare as is, and really requires patience from the Ice player (it is still a challenge even with Expert Belt Fusion Bolt Kyurem-Black with Roost).

Draco Meteor Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Pelipper: 466-549 (143.8 - 169.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Keldeo: 381-448 (117.9 - 138.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Swampert: 381-448 (94.3 - 110.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Toxapex: 258-304 (84.8 - 100%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 128 HP / 252+ SpD Lanturn: 298-352 (70.4 - 83.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Hidden Power Electric Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Hidden Power Electric vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Azumarill: 180-212 (44.5 - 52.4%) -- 78.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Vs Flying:

Rocks should be easy to keep up here, and are vital to cripple Charizard-Y as well as Mantine, although I haven't seen it very much recently. Be wary with your PP, as Cele can stall out at least 2 Blizzards between Leech Seed and Protect, as well as sacking a team mate to come back and repeat. Cloyster is a good backup mon to KO it if it's still alive after Kyurem drops. A raw Z or a Shell Smash to attack should finish the job. Weavile can do this too if it's a SpDef variant. Mantine can be a bit tricky, as it's faster then Aurorus, has defog, and tanks Ancient Powers with ease. Your best bet is to get Weavile in and either Knock Off or Pursuit trap it to put it in range for Kyurem's Blizzard or Draco. You can also use Hidden Power Electric, but beware of Zapdos or an electric immunity, as you do not have Teravolt.

Blizzard Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 176+ SpD Zapdos: 488-576 (127 - 150%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Celesteela: 292-345 (73.3 - 86.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 211-249 (53 - 62.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 160+ SpD Mantine: 178-211 (47.5 - 56.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Hidden Power Electric:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Hidden Power Electric vs. 252 HP / 160+ SpD Mantine: 264-312 (70.5 - 83.4%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Vs Grass:

This is probaly the biggest reason I love this set, Grass has nothing to swap too hard into to stop Kyurem's deadly Blizzard Spam. Despite not having Teravolt, Kyurem easily two-shots Mega-Venusaur, while Venusuar's best hope is to Leech Seed or try and Synthesis, which heals very little with Hail active. Even max Spdef Ferrothorn is still two-shotted by Blizzard. However, it can fire back and 2HKO Kyurem with a Gyro Ball on a free switch. Keep him as healthy as possible until Venusaur and Ferrothorn are either gone or in range of someone else. He can still tank one of either a Mach Punch from Breloom or a Scarf Superpower from Bulu if needed. Focus Blast is also a strong option for Ferrothorn, but has very shaky accuracy. It also does little to the other Grass mons.

Blizzard Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Cradily: 408-480 (108.5 - 127.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 88 SpD Ferrothorn: 241-285 (68.4 - 80.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Thick Fat Venusaur-Mega: 254-300 (69.7 - 82.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Focus Blast Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 88 SpD Ferrothorn: 350-414 (99.4 - 117.6%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

Vs Poison:

Curse Muk with it's Berry intact can be problem here, but you will force them to use recycle, allowing you to gain some initiative. Most people don't know what to expect from this mon right now as well. The Assault Vest variants don't take long to wear down, taking 40% from the first Draco. Nihilego has a chance to drop on the swap with Rocks as well, letting it only do it once. It also needs a boost to one-shot Kyurem. Mega-Venusaur will also drop quickly to a Draco after Rocks, so fire away.

Draco Meteor Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Crobat: 421-496 (112.5 - 132.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Toxapex: 258-304 (84.8 - 100%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Venusaur-Mega: 298-352 (81.8 - 96.7%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Nihilego: 276-325 (76.8 - 90.5%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Vs Electric:

Predicting is important here, as Tapu Koko is on almost every Electric team, stopping the Draco Meteor spam. Blizzard is a good option, even vs Rotom-Wash, as it can only eat 2 or 3, while the offensive mons and Zapdos get decimated. Rotom also can't do much back to Kyurem, but can Volt out to a faster offensive mon. Also, if it has 50% HP berry it can really slow your momentum down. Pay attention to see if it has Leftovers or not.

Draco Meteor Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 212+ SpD Rotom-Wash: 247-292 (81.2 - 96%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Blizzard Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 644-762 (167.7 - 198.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Koko: 375-442 (133.4 - 157.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zeraora: 355-418 (111.9 - 131.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 212+ SpD Rotom-Wash: 105-123 (34.5 - 40.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Vs Ground:

I haven't used this much vs Ground yet, but having a move that one-shots Hippowdon reliably is nice. Be wary of Excadrill, as without max speed even Adamant Excadrill's outspeed and KO you. It can only swap on Draco once, and this will put it in range for Weavile to Knock Off or Pursuit trap. Banded Mamoswine is also dangerous, as it is faster if you have bulk investment and can KO with Superpower, though it cannot swap in hard on Draco Meteor. Hippowdown is the biggest threat to remove, after that, Rimetales just needs chip on Excadrill to and Mamoswine to sweep with Freeze-Dry or Blizzard. Possibly Gastrodon as well, but only if it has Mirror Coat. Depending on Gastrodon's spread, it will either be KOed or eat Draco's decently.

Draco Meteor Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Hippowdon: 456-537 (108.5 - 127.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Gastrodon: 411-484 (96.4 - 113.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 236+ SpD Gastrodon: 291-343 (68.3 - 80.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Vs Psychic:

You'll need to predict around defensive Jirachi, but it can be worn down quickly for Weavile to KO. Removing Slowbro is vital for Cloyster and Weavile and even Rimetales/Slash. Everyone can sweep here but Kyurem, but they all struggle against Slowbro (Weavile is walled after the items gone if it uses Slack Off on the Knock Off turn or swaps out after the items gone). Mega-Bro is sadly still a threat, but is a very rare sight. If you catch it with Kyurem before a boost, Draco will one-shot it. Even at +1 if they don't click Slack Off, a 2nd Draco should finish it off.

Draco Meteor Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Slowbro: 418-493 (106 - 125.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Slowbro-Mega: 421-496 (106.8 - 125.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Focus Blast Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 176+ SpD Jirachi: 248-294 (61.3 - 72.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 176+ SpD Jirachi: 165-195 (40.8 - 48.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Earth Power Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 176+ SpD Jirachi: 248-294 (61.3 - 72.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Slowbro: 193-228 (48.9 - 57.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Hidden Power Electric:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Hidden Power Electric vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Slowbro: 260-306 (65.9 - 77.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Vs Rock:

Kyurem one to two-shots every rock mon with Blizzard or Focus Blast. However, he is a bit slow, and gets taken down by Mega-Diancie, +1 Nihilego, and Scarf Terrakion, limiting his role here. Being able to outspeed and one-shot Tyranitar is a plus though. Blizzard 2HKOs Shuckle but needs Hail to be reliable. Also, Shuckle is often the first to drop as it is a common suicide lead.

Blizzard Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Shuckle: 141-166 (58 - 68.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Focus Blast Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 576-680 (168.4 - 198.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Vs Ice:

This is hard to write in a way, as I've seen so few Ice teams. Piloswine and Avalugg are both pretty weak to this set though, and chipping Piloswine for Cloyster is appreciated so he can save his Z if needed. You can use other moves vs Avalugg if Stealth Rocks are up, as all of them will one to two-shot it if Veil isn't up. Ninetales doesn't appreciate Focus Blasts either and has no recovery. Kyurem will also reliably one-shot Rimeslash with Earth Power or Focus Blast and KO Cloyster or put it down to it's Sash with Draco, Focus Blast, or Hidden Power Electric. Earth Power is a very low roll to OHKO vs Cloyster however.

Focus Blast Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Sandslash-Alola: 1224-1440 (420.6 - 494.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Cloyster: 898-1058 (372.6 - 439%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Avalugg: 792-934 (201 - 237%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ninetales-Alola: 215-253 (74.9 - 88.1%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 244 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Piloswine: 282-334 (70.1 - 83%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Earth Power Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Sandslash-Alola: 460-542 (158 - 186.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Hidden Power Electric Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Hidden Power Electric vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Cloyster: 450-530 (186.7 - 219.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Vs Bug:

This one is odd, as you ussualy only see Forretress and Armaldo defensively on bug. Both drop to Focus Blast quickly, but this let's Volcorona set up freely. Non defensive Scizor also takes a good chunk even from Draco Meteor, which is good for non boosted Cloyster. You CAN two-shot Spdef Scizor, but you will need Rocks and hit two in a row, AND they have to not roost on the first one, all of which are unlikely to line up. Kyurem is a bit of a dead weight here, but this is probaly my teams toughest match up, as we have no Veil or Rock Blast Cloyster. This is especially true for Banded Scizor and Mega Pinsir double priority, with a good chance to KO Cloy after it sets up even from full.

Draco Meteor Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 172+ SpD Armaldo: 315-372 (88.9 - 105%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 164 HP / 0 SpD Scizor: 210-248 (65.2 - 77%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Focus Blast Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Forretress: 323-381 (91.2 - 107.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 164 HP / 0 SpD Scizor: 259-305 (80.4 - 94.7%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Vs Dragon:

Kyurem is more or less a sack here, he is outsped by most dragons, and can't eat stab Outrages our Draco's. He does do hefty damage of course with his own Draco Meteor as well as Blizzard if you can get one in. Do not use Draco Meteor if they have Mega-Altaria, as this will let it Dragon Dance for free.

Vs Ghost:

Kyurem is a good lead here, as the only mon I can think of that 1v1s him without a Z is Mimikyu and Jellicent, and the Sableye lead is very common. Losing your Specs vs Sableye isn't a huge deal, as you'll have chipped it enough to drop it the next turn anyway with another Draco. After that you shouldn't need them. If they swap Jellicent on Draco, just swap to Weavile and try to Pursuit. Getting rid of Jellicent is crucial for Cloyster or Rimetales to sweep later on. This helps Rimetales vs Mega-Sableye as well, as she is Choice locked and Moonblast tickles the pringle boi/grill. Also beware Mimikyu trying to swap in on a predicted Draco. Try not to let Kyurem get chipped too much until it's done it's job, as this team cannot spin Rocks away at all. Max HP Alola-Marowak will drop to Draco or Earth Power, removing that problem.

Draco Meteor Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Marowak-Alola: 418-493 (129 - 152.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 144+ SpD Sableye-Mega: 249-294 (81.9 - 96.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 244 HP / 252+ SpD Jellicent: 244-288 (60.6 - 71.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Vs Dark:

Kyurem is decent to amazing here, depending on how your opponent reacts. KOing Tyranitar turn 1 with Focus Blast leaves a massive gap in Dark's core and removes Rocks which is huge as you'll be swapping a lot, and Rimelash can struggle to spin vs Mega-Sableye. Draco is a decent option too if your worried about Sableye coming in, chunking Tyranitar and demolishing the gremlin. Curse Muk can come in, soak up a Draco and Recycle, but this lets Weavile in as well, threatening it with a Knock Off. You could also go Cloy and try for a +4 Shell Smash vs Muk, but you need to be lucky in dodging poison status (+4 is to outspeed Scarf Gren). Again, most people also don't seem to know what to expect from this mon (yet).

Draco Meteor Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 144+ SpD Sableye-Mega: 249-294 (81.9 - 96.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 169-199 (41.8 - 49.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Focus Blast Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 416-492 (102.9 - 121.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Vs Steel:

Oh boy my FAVORITE match up, every Ice player dreads seeing this in team preview. All is not lost though. Kyurem can do solid work here with some chip. As said earlier, Ferrothorn drops to two Blizzards or a Focus Blast, which helps preserve Cloyster (VERY important here). Celesteela is also taking over 50 from Blizzard or more, and only Spdef Scizor can safely set up in the face of Kyurem using Focus Blast or Earth Powers. One-shotting Skarmory is also helpful, as well as Heatran through Balloon with Focus Blast. Assuming all your moves connect, nothing on Steel will swap in for free, as they struggle to find a answer. Scarf Excadrill only two-shots with Iron Head, and Mega-Scizor needs a +2 or more to one-shot with Bullet Punch.

Blizzard Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 224 HP / 32 SpD Skarmory: 379-447 (115.9 - 136.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 96 SpD Celesteela: 267-315 (67 - 79.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Focus Blast Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 184+ SpD Ferrothorn: 294-348 (83.5 - 98.8%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 184+ SpD Heatran: 316-372 (81.8 - 96.3%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Scizor-Mega: 215-253 (76.5 - 90%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 212+ SpD Scizor-Mega: 160-189 (46.6 - 55.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Vs Fairy:

Kyurem should be kept in reserve at all costs until Azumarill Belly Drums. It is the only mon who is faster AND can eat Aqua Jets even at +6. If Klefki isn't running Thunder Wave, it's OK to use Kyurem to chip it down, but i'd still caution against it. This is probaly the most important mon to have Hidden Power Electric for, especially with Screens, as you'll need this and then Ice Shard to take it down from 50%. Between this, Ice Shard and Hail damage, Azumarill should drop, removing Fairy's biggest danger (besides Diancie and I suppose Tapu Koko). Without the Screens, Kyurem checks it after the boost easily. Kyurem is also decent against the rare Clefable, who can check or even counter Slash with a Babiri Berry and Flamethrower.

Blizzard Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Clefable: 322-379 (81.7 - 96.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Hidden Power Electric Damage:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Hidden Power Electric vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Azumarill: 260-306 (76.2 - 89.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Hidden Power Electric vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Azumarill through Light Screen: 130-153 (38.1 - 44.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Updated 10/18/2019
Notes:
I've swapped back to max Speed and SpA, but that bulky spread is still workable if you want to run it. I've also gone back to Earth Power over Hidden Power Electric, as it feels too niche. Earth Power is also generally a safe attack to spam if his other moves are not needed. Also, I changed to Rock Tomb Aurorus to help beat Bulkorona with the Sash intact. This is also nice against set up mons, even Dragon Dance Tyranitar for example. Timid is chosen to outpace speed + natured base 111 mons after the drop, letting me either chip it again for some one else or put down Stealth Rocks.

Which is better? I personally can't say, but right now I am in love with Specs normal Kyurem. The extra base 10 SpA is also crucial for the one-shot vs Toxapex. It's also nice I can use my entire move pool with my best stat (Special Attack). No Roost can hurt at times though, and I'd argue Kyu-B is still more 'consistent' vs Water, as Fusion Bolt is fairly spammable, and Life Orb sets can handle Swampert decently. You miss the OHKO on Pex though, and if you get poisoned or worse, badly poisoned, it just spams recover. Kyurem also performs amazingly vs a lot of the mixed walls that standard Kyurem-Black struggles against. Lastly, being able to swap out after dropping a Draco Meteor is the deal breaker, as after clicking Outrage, you are stuck until it finishes or you get KOed. This can invalidate non-Scarf (or even Scarfed) Kyurem-Black after it KOs something, and is a disaster if they sack something less important. For example, Kyurem-Black clicks Outrage vs Chansey as Normal swaps to Diggersby. Now Mega-Lopunny has the perfect KO opportunity, and you've lost your best wall breaker. "What about Banded Dragon Claw?" You may ask. To that I say: It's too weak. You still need to remove Chansey's Eviolite to 2HKO, and Porygon2 is still a borderline counter after it loses it's. The biggest offender is definitely Toxapex, as most are physically inclined. The other problem is, Dragon is great neutrally, but not getting that super effective bonus really hinders it here. Kyurem-Black is also scraping for Physical moves, as he has very few, mainly Outrage, Dragon Claw, Fusion Bolt, and Stone Edge as viable options.

Adamant Dragon Claw Calcs:

252+ Atk Choice Band Teravolt Kyurem-Black Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 112 Def Sableye-Mega: 198-234 (65.1 - 76.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Teravolt Kyurem-Black Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Porygon2: 204-240 (54.5 - 64.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Teravolt Kyurem-Black Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 141-166 (46.3 - 54.6%) -- 59.8% chance to 2HKO

The RNG on Focus Blast and even Draco Meteor accuracy can be frustrating at times but they will do chunks to their intended target. Specs Kyurem-Black can probably work too, but I haven't tried it yet, and you'll lose 10 base SpA points. Your also not doing anything with that massive attack stat (Fusion Bolt) though you could try that with a Specs set I guess? Both mons have their pros and cons, but I think normal Kyurem has a solid niche as Ice's most powerful (Mono legal) Specs wallbreaker.
His shiny form also looks way cooler so bonus points right?
I made another alt, 'Winds of the North', and used two other 'for fun' accounts, all hitting 1600 in around 30-50 games.
The lack of steel match ups helped a bit
These are all I have right now but i'll try to get more soon.

"Notable" Replays:

Vs Fairy, Scarf Slash KOs Diancie turn 1, turning the match up around immediately. This also features HP Electric Kyurem taking down Azumarill after the Belly Drum. Slash puts Bulu in range for Rimetales, letting her finish the game The offensive synergy is amazing here and I love it:

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-986530945

Vs Fighting, idk why this was a Sash Cobalion but oh well, Kyurem drops it to 1% turn one with a Focus Blast, then a read from me as I go Scarf Slash on Rocks, forcing a swap and a free spin. Kyurem drops shortly after but we all know he is "eh" vs offense without a Scarf. Cloyster as ever in my bad match ups comes in later and wraps up.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7monotype-986526140

Vs HO Psychic, Scarf Slash gets crucial chip vs Mew even after its +2 speed for Weavile to threaten out with Shard, as Mew over predicted the Weavile switch. Cloyster comes around later, overcoming Serene Grace and sweeping:

Vs Poison, even after the Knock Off Kyurem bonks Venusaur on the swap, crippling the core. Ironically Slash pulls out the W vs Bunker Pex:
