Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 92 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Aqua Jet
- Liquidation
- Knock Off / Superpower / Ice Punch
Azumarill's coveted access to Huge Power, which doubles its Attack, allows it to function as a premier wallbreaker in UU with severely limited switch-ins. Its Water / Fairy typing offers excellent neutral coverage, can allow it to get into play against a foe like Infernape or Mega Sharpedo if it's healthy, and notably allows it to super effectively damage a large number of top-tier threats, which include Hydreigon, Latias, Mega Aerodactyl, and Gliscor. It also has access to strong STAB priority in the form of Aqua Jet, which can be key for picking off weakened faster threats and revenge killing certain sweepers, like Infernape and Mega Houndoom. The few Pokemon that don't fold to Azumarill's powerful STAB attacks, such as Amoonguss and Volcanion, will often take significant damage from one of its commonly run coverage moves in Knock Off, Superpower, or Ice Punch, which still puts them at risk of switching in safely. However, Azumarill is not without its perks despite its devastating offensive presence. Choice Band is necessary for supplying it with its great power, though its attacks can all be punishable if locked into given the presence of both Grass- and Steel-types in the tier. Azumarill is also quite slow, which makes offensively pressuring it and wearing it down over time a generally easy task. It can also struggle to combat a few particularly bulky defensive Pokemon, most notably Mega Aggron and Mega Slowbro, which are both capable of repeatedly taking hits. All in all, Azumarill has apparent struggles in the metagame, though the sheer offensive presence it exerts and its general lack of defensive counterplay keeps it among the best physical attackers the UnderUsed metagame has to offer.
