Administrative decisions thread for administrative decisions. Time to bust out the tourbans! Haha just kidding.... unless..?

In other news:

It has been brought to my attention that the World Cup of Pokemon uses a different precedent regarding the matter of player eligibility after a team's borders have been changed. In that tournament, even a small change like a state or two moving over from one US team to another results in both US teams impacted by this to count as "not existing" anymore, which means that neither of those teams would be able to grandfather players in, if they no longer qualify for the US team as they did prior.

With that in mind, the World Cup of 1v1 will not be following this precedent, and will continue to use the precedent set by previous iterations of this tournament. To be clear, this means that minor shifts in regional borders will not remove the grandfathering eligibility of people from the relevant regions.

Bear in mind that this does not mean that teams will get to grandfather players no matter what. Something major, such as splitting US East into two teams or splitting Canada and Australia into separate teams, would absolutely constitute the resetting of grandfathering for players previously involved with US East or Cone.

While the significant increase in signups this year indicates that there won't be any worry filling out these teams for future iterations of the tournament, it also acts as a potential sign that we may need to broaden the scope of the tournament in order to accomodate this influx of players for future iterations. With this in mind, team borders may yet still be changing for future tournaments with the potential of things like adding more team slots or a Qualifying Round for the weaker teams, which is why having to constantly deal with grandfathering limitations would do more harm than good.

In the event that a change in policy turns out being necessary for whatever new circumstances may come our way, there will always be the opportunity to discuss such a change in the pending 1v1 Tournament Policy thread.
