OM players across the globe, it's time to unite for the first annual World Cup of OMs! In this tournament you will sign up to play OMs alongside other representatives of your country, region, or territorial amalgamation.
Format of the tour: Rather than the group stages in other iterations of WCOP where you play multiple opponents at once, there will be 2 groups of 5 regions each. After 4 weeks of group stages, the top 2 teams from each group will move on to the playoffs.
Lineup: USUM Anything Goes (bo3) / USUM Balanced Hackmons (bo1) / USUM 1v1 (bo5) / USUM Mix and Mega (bo1) / USUM Almost Any Ability (bo1) / USUM STABmons (bo1)
Each team will also need to pick up 2 subs, for a total of 8 people per team
Signups phase: Because this is the first WCoOM, it remains unclear which regions will have enough users to field a full 8 person team. As such, we are starting with player signups to determine how active each region can be. After a week of signups, the amount of people from each region will be tallied and we will decide which regions will be taking part in the tournament. Some regions may be combined with others for convenience, even if they aren't exactly geographically linked, and others simply might not be able to compete.
Once the regions are decided, we will open up captain signups. Captains will be able to play. Once captains are determined, player signups will be closed and captains will be free to draft any 8 players from their region.
Please format your signup accordingly. Note that joke signups will be deleted. This is the very first WCoOM, a lot of details need to get sorted, we are using this time to figure out what regions can host viable teams, and messing around with time missed or eligibility could impact that process.
Regions: Please sign up for any regions you are eligible for. The major regions which we expect might be able to compete are below. If you are in Asia or Europe, please specify country since there is a good chance that we will need split them into regions (ex: East Europe and West Europe).
