One more year, trainers from every corner of the world gather to play on the grandest stage of all, the World Cup of Randbats (WCOR). After several rounds, countless battles and unwavering determination, only the very best will remain. Last year, Team Canada managed to end a spectacular season on a high note. On the other hand, US Midwest, Asia, US West and Belgium got relegated to the qualifying stage. Today, a new chance to reach the glory starts. Today, skill, strategy and courage will be put to the ultimate test as nations clash in pursuit of Randbats glory.

The road to this moment has been long, but the destination is clear: one champion, one trophy, one place in history. As the battle begins and legends are written, the world watches. Welcome to the World Cup of Randbats. Let the games begin and ... FIGHT FOR YOUR COUNTRY!!!

WCOR '26 will feature every main generation of Random Battles, plus Gen 9 Random Double Battle. Each team is led by two to three captains, who themselves may count among the total roster of the 12 starter and 3-5 substitute players. You can read more about the structure of the tournament in the Announcements and Administrative Decisions thread.
The formats this year will be:

Gen 7 Random Battle bo3

Eligibility
Players who are not locked onto a team and are not eligible for grandfathering (new players, or players whose previous teams no longer exist) may only play for the regions associated with their forum IPs. Hosts will not consider any other means of identification for regional eligibility. Please do not submit real-world identifying documents such as passports or birth certificates.
If you have specific questions about eligibility, please contact the hosts.

If you have two eligibilities, one for an established country and the other for a continental team via residence in a different non-established country, you will have a one-time choice between the two. Should you choose the continental team, you completely forfeit eligibility for the established country. If in the future, the non-established country that qualified you for the continental team becomes established, you are locked to that new country team.

A national team is considered established if it has reached the Top 16 or has qualified to the main stage via qualifying rounds at any point within the last 2 editions. The four US Teams are automatically considered established.

  • US Northeast
  • US West
  • US Midwest
  • US South
  • Canada (Top 16 2025)
  • China (Top 16 2025)
  • United Kingdom (Top 16 2025)
  • India (Top 16 2025)
  • Netherlands (Top 16 2025)
  • Italy (Top 16 2025)
  • France (Top 16 2025)
  • Spain (Top 16 2025)
  • Germany (Top 16 2025)
  • Belgium (Qualifiers 2025)
  • Brazil (Top 16 2024)

1. CharizardFan47 has IPs from Algeria and France. This year he is choosing to play for Africa through his Algerian eligibility. This means he is completely forfeiting French eligibility for the future. If Algeria becomes an established team in 2027, CharizardFan47 must play for Algeria and has no other eligibility.

2. PikachuLover83 has IPs from Spain and Finland. This year he is choosing to play for Europe through his Finnish eligibility. This means he is completely forfeiting Spanish eligibility for the future. If Finland becomes an established team in 2027, PikachuLover83 must play for Finland and has no other eligibility.

Both cases above assume the person doesn't move to a brand new region in the future and get new IPs. In that case they could still qualify for a new team through that, as the existing rules allow.

Additional ruling for players who participated in the last WCOR

If a player participated in the last WCOR, they will be locked onto their team from the previous year, barring the following exceptions:
  • If the team they most recently played for no longer exists, they will be treated as a player eligible for a new team.
  • If a player's region has changed since last WCOR, they may choose to instead play for the region currently associated with their forum IPs. This is a one-time choice; doing so forfeits their previous eligibility. They will not be able to be grandfathered back onto their previous team in the future, and even if they someday return to their old region, this eligibility will remain forfeited.

Additional ruling for players who did not participate in the last WCOR / players eligible for new teams

If a player has IP logs to prove they've spent extended periods of time in multiple regions within the past 12 months (e.g. students who attend university in one region and live in another), they can note their eligibility to join a team associated with either region. Hosts will review these applications on a case-by-case basis.

Players with significant periods of residency prior to the past 12 months, but after their Smogon account was made, may apply to join the team associated with their old IPs used to access Smogon. Hosts will consider these applications on a case-by-case basis, but as a general rule, the minimum amount of time we will consider is one year of residency in the old region. As referenced above, you MUST be able to verify said residency via forum IPs; if your IPs do not reflect this prior residency, your application will not be accepted. Eligibility for the rejected team will be forfeited.

"Cultural eligibility" rules were removed in earlier editions of WCOP & WCOR, and have not been reinstated.

Hosts reserve the right to reject any player they deem to be insufficiently eligible, e.g. a player whose IP drastically changes shortly before the start of the tournament.
