World Cup: South Africa 2010 - Paul and Spain win!

Scoring wasn't our problem this cup.

Only one shutout to fucking Algeria. 2 goals to Slovenia. Now two to Ghana on absolutely horrendous defense.

We scored a goal every game, which isn't bad at all. We scored 3 in one game. We put LOTS of pressure on a faster and more athletic Ghana team. Our offense was fine. We just need to play lockdown D more consistently, and not have the refs win the game for the other team.

Could not agree more with this part, Ghana had scored twice (both penalties) before tonight, and they took advantage of two horrible defending errors. I don't understand why BB starts Ricardo Clark.

yeah, the way non-americans play sports is absolute bullshit with the flopping and injury faking

Are you saying that the USA players wouldn't do that if they were winning? If you believe so you are really naive... Everybody does it. It is annoying, yes, but it's something you have to live with.

Edit: loled at the wiki vandalism part

That shit simply is not in American sports culture. How often does the USA flop? How often do you see Americans in ANY sport fake injuries? If they did they'd be fucking LAMBASTED, even if we won.

They did win didn't they?

My one huge issue with the sport on full display, I understand you're up and want to hold onto the victory. But play the game, dude doesn't get touched, lays down like he's dead. They bring out the stretcher for him, as soon as they get him off the field, he jumps up out of the stretcher and is fine.

Sorry, Americans don't play like this. Diving, faking, flopping, etc is what will keep the sport like 5-6th in the states. Casual American sports fan can't get into stuff like that.

and then the referee adds time on at the end. They had 3 extra minutes at the end of the game for INJURIES.. so there wasn't really any gain since they still had to play out the "wasted" time. I only caught extra-time, but was rooting for Ghana obviously :P I want to go party with Marcel Dessaily.

Exactly! after so many years watching football, Ghana is not the dirtiest team ever, they weren't as cheeky as other teams have been and the ref added some minutes anyway...

Ghana took advantage of our mistakes and crappy defense and capitalized on them; they fully deserved to win. Kudos to them.

And yeah, all the diving and dramatic injury faking for penalties does off put the casual soccer fans in the US and is probably a big part as to why soccer isn't bigger in the US.

You, sir, does not know the soccer world.

PS: Goodbye America. Now it's up to Uruguay. Go Uruguay!

Like the itv guy said (yes, itv, I'm in algarve, lol): America - 1, all of Africa - 2.

EDIT: and seriously ancien. USA is a saint among sinners? Spare me.

we literally had two goals stolen from us

i think we have a right to bitch about the refs

this shit was mavs versus heat game 3 bad

I think what Ghana did towards the end is why soccer will never be a major sport in the US. Now I realize its apart of the game, but the flopping and faking injuries to change momentum and kill time is just terrible. Now really, do you think that guy on Ghana who got carried off on the stretcher was even close to hurt? No, he wasnt, it was all apart of the time killing strategy that is a black eye on the sport
