Wow, what happened to Double Battles? (Custom Sets)

Introduction :

This team is just merely to show you my custom set for double battles. I got some ideas off of Youtube and decided to use them.

The Team :

Let's Get Started :

dpmfa224.png

Octillery (Octapussy)@ Leftovers
Sniper
252 HP / 252 Sp. Attack / 6 Attack
Modest
- Protect
- Icebeam
- Waterfall
- Substitute

Description :
This is one of two of my starters. It will substitute, or Protect to scout, either way it will get a power boost from my Dodrio with acupressure. With this eight-legged marine animal, I can see tons of potential in double battling. It's my mixed sweeper, at best. I have Waterfall in there in case I get a boost for Attack. I got this from Muhsoce from Youtube. Credits to him/her!

Threats :
I can see this being walled by a lot of Pokemon, and killed by mostly Jolteon. Though, it will have boosts, I'm not sure if it can stand to much.

dpmfa085.png

Dodrio (Birdie) @ Leftovers
Early Bird
252 Attack / 252 Speed / 6 Defense
Jolly Nature
- Acupressure
- Tri Attack
- Endeavor
- Roost

Description :
This is to help my Octopus. Boost it with Acupressure and then see if I can KO anything with Tri Attack. Endeavor is when my HP gets low. After I get them to a safe HP, Roost will help me get my health back and do it all over again. I got this strategy from Muhsoce, once again, but instead of using a Tentacruel, I decided to use Dodrio since it was more speedy!

Threats :
I'll probably be going up most OU Pokemon on Wifi, but on PBR, legends are dominate. I'd really hate to go up against anything with Ice Beam, since it seems to be the ice move of choice...

dpmfa161.png

Sentret (I suck) @ Focus Sash
Keen Eye
252 Attack / 252 Speed / 6 Sp. Attack
Adamant
- Reversal
- Quick Attacl
- Sucker Punch
- Rest

Description :
This is my pride and joy of the team. Let's just say, it's unpredictable. It's merely just a Sentret, but is it?! Since it's HP and Defenses are so low, it can reversal about anything. If that doesn't finish it off, Quick Attack and Sucker Punch will. Rest him up and he can last for another turn, but without Focus Sash. :[

Threats :
Sigh, sandstorm and hail.

dpmfa357.png

Tropius (Giant Fruit) @ Leftovers / Heat Rock
Solar Power
252 Sp. Attack / 252 HP / 6 Speed
Modest Nature
- Sunny Day
- Solarbeam
- Hyper Beam
- Air Slash

Description :
Tropius is fun. Sunny Day makes his HP lower, so his 404 HP will take care of it when it does. Though, it boost his Sp. Attack, so what do we get?
Solarbeam - Charging Time + Sunny Day + Stab = Dayummmmmmmm.

Threats :
Could possibly be countered with any weather changing effect. Since this thing is a mix-type Pokemon of Grass and Flying, I see it being taken down by a strong ice move.

dpmfa301.png

Delcatty (DellKitty) @ Zoom Lens
Cute Charm
252 HP / 252 Speed / 6 Sp. Attack
Adamant
- Assist
- Helping Hand
- Sucker Punch
- Ice Beam

Description :
This is some random cat I decided to put on. Helping Hand could go along with any one of my attackers. Assist is just to randomly attack my foe.

Threats :
A lot of crap can take this kitten down... :[
dpmfa344.png

Claydol (Temple) @ Leftovers
Levitate
252 Sp. Defense / 252 HP / 6 Defense
Sassy
- Explosion
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

Description :
Just a Spinner and SR setter. Could also go with Octillery after it Protects and this Explodes if HP is low. I really like this Pokemon and haven't had time to do anything with it. Then I found some time and got it done.

Threats :
Usual pair of britches who counter this crap...

Conclusion :

In this world of battling, I say we've got it all down. I do accept hard criticism. The thing I would like you to change the most is the Delcatty if possible since I could not find anything worth using... I know I do use a lot of Leftovers, so if you find anything else to use, please tell me ASAP and I will quickly change it.

Thanks for the help!

Hmm, why endeavor or dodrio if you have leftovers and roost? Also, huge weavile weakness. Brick Break and Ice Punch rip right through this team, and a friendly grass knot from a celebi takes on octillery, your only weavile counter.

M'kay, let's see...only a quick rate, I'll have to look over this more later.

First off, you have a huge Ice weakness with only one resist, so a Hail or Gravity team spamming Blizzard could be a huge problem.

Second, have you used this team before? Forgive me, but it just seems too gimmicky, and I think you should think about using some standard EV spreads, unless your spreads accomplish something special. Your moves seem kinda bad as well (Why is Tropius using Hyper Beam? Why does Sentret have Rest?), so I would suggest looking at standard sets for those pokemon then tweaking them from there.

Third, does anything else besides Tropius benefit from Sunny Day? It just seems like dead weight; every thing it's doing can be done better and faster by Sceptile, without the set-up. You already have two ground immunities, and it will just become a resist.

Fourth; you don't seem to have anything on here that can switch into anything. What if the opponent explodes? Starts spamming Helping Hand Eruptions? What if they just start whaling on you, or start spamming status attacks? Try something with bulk or perhaps a wall or two.

No offense, but I don't see how this team could work. However, if you wish, I could battle it sometime to see how it works and give a more in-depth rating then.

Yeah, I don't really think about teams that much. It seems that not much of my knowledge of Pokemon has come in handy. I've been playing since Blue, and I don't know when I'd stop. Tropius and Dodrio do have probably Instant kills by ice. I wasn't thinking straight.

I used this team on PBR earlier and I did notice it sucked, badly. I wish I had a private tutor to help on this rather than waiting long to get advice. I used Sentret to get an easy kill, but with all the OU Pokes with weather changes, I'm not sure how this will go.

Well, I don't know the MaskedNitPicker. :x

If it's alright, are you available?

I semi-read that guide already. :x

Well, I could give you a quick battle now, if you wish, but after that I'll probably retire for the night. I probably won't be available Sunday, but I should be available weekday afternoons.

Okay, now that I've played against the team, I think I can make some more suggestions.

The biggest problem is your selection of pokemon; most of them aren't strong enough, and you have little defense.

OCTILLERY: With an Atk- nature and only 6 atk EVs, I can't really see this as a true mixed sweeper; I'd rather go straight physical sweeper or special sweeper. I don't think Sub and Protect will do you much good on the same set; I would much rather ditch Substitute, as the sub could easily get broken if the opponent spams multi-hit moves or if they gang up on Octilerry. That set is currently walled by Water types, so I'd suggest Energy Ball or something over Sub.

DODRIO: This thing is nowhere near sturdy enough to be supporting; one SE attack and it's done for, rendering Leftovers and Roost useless. Also, leading this with Octillery gives you two Electric weaks at once, so Discharging Porygon-Zs, Rotoms, and Ampharos can ruin your day. I'd suggest making this more of an attack-oriented set, ditching Roost for another move, as you're walled by Steels. If you wanna keep Accupressure, I'd suggest changing this to something like Shuckle or Tentacruel that won't die in one turn, or use the Baton Passing set if you're dead set on Dodrio.

SENTRET: What's the point? I know it's cute and all, but seriously, you could do so much better. At the very least, you should evolve it to Furret for the better yet still suppar stats. Sucker Punch and Reversal won't do much coming from an unimpressive base 46 attack (and why do you have Sp. Atk EVs?). Rest won't help; you'll get killed while asleep, and Rest is a crappy recovery move anyway unless you have Sleeptalk or something. The only thing Furret really has going for him is Follow Me, and Togekiss and Clefable do it better. I'd replace this with something like Lucario, Zangoose, or Toxicroak, as they get good priority moves, have great Atk, and can learn powerful fighting moves. They trounce Sentret in every single way.

TROPIUS: Like I said, anything this thing does, Sceptile does better; she's faster, has better Sp. Atk, and has a wider Special movepool. Tropius just adds 4x Ice weak. Sunny Day doesn't benefit anyone else on the team, and the benefits are minimal to Tropius. Solarbeam can't work effectively without Sunny Day and Hyper Beam is a horrible move on anything other that Porygon-Z due to the recharge. You need to set this thing up to be usable, and it can easily be killed in that time.

DELCATTY: Sorry to say it, but this thing's just useless. It can't do much any damage with that EV spread, as Sucker Punch didn't even finish off Azelf. Similarly, Ice Beam is too weak. Assist is pretty unreliable, so I would ditch it. Helping Hand is the only good thing on Delcatty, but other pokemon can do it better, such as Shuckle, Miltank, Blissey, Hariyama, Jirachi, and so on. Try to find a replacement for this, preferably something that can take an attack.

CLAYDOL: This guy's actually pretty good, but there are a few problems. First off, SR isn't all that common in doubles, so Rapid Spin won't come in handy that often. If you do use Stealth Rock, keep in mind it's best if you set it up early. Explosion is great, but the problem is nothing on your team can take the blast; you have no immunities or resists, and only one pokemon carries Protect, so you'd more than likely take out one of your own pokes as well trying to explode.

That's all I got for tonight. I'm going to bed.
